Who Were the 8 Quarterbacks Drafted Before Brock Purdy?

Brock py so far to this point has had a Disney Channel like movie story in the NFL he was the last pick taken in the 2022 NFL draft and has already made a huge impact in the NFL and has an extremely bright future ahead of him in today's video we are going to go over the eight quarterbacks taken before him in the 2022 NFL draft but first let's touch on P's path to the NFL and how he is as merged as one of the best young QBs in the NFL Brock pie was born on December 27th 1999 in Quinn Creek Arizona he comes from an athletic family his dad Shawn played baseball at the University of Miami and in the minor leagues from 1991 to 1998 and his brother chubba currently plays quarterback at the University of Nebraska Brock pie played football at Perry High School and had some great success playing there he was named gatorade's football player of the year and was the Arizona Republic's High School football player of the year in his senior year in high school Brock was considered a three- star Prospect by 247 Sports rated as the 839th best Prospect in the country and signed his letter of intent to commit to play football for Iowa State in 2018 perie started quickly his freshman year at Iowa State after km was injured and Nolan was ineffective overall he started eight games and had 169.99 State Career with a 2917 record through for 12,170 yards and threw for 81 passing touchdowns after his senior year at Iowa State he declared for the NFL draft he was by no means considered a top quarterback prospect in a weak QB draft class he was seen as a QB with no real off-the-chart physical traits and an average arm at best that relied heavily upon play action for his success herie didn't hear his name till the last pick in the 2022 draft by the San Francisco 49ers going going into his rookie year pie was named the third string quarterback behind veteran Jimmy Garoppolo and third overall pick Trey Lance Trey Lance started the season for the 49ers but suffered a season ending angle injury against the Seahawks in week two Jimmy Garoppolo was now the next man up with pretty elevated to be the second string quarterback herie saw his first NFL action on October 23rd 2022 relieving Jimmy G on the 49ers last Drive in the fourth quarter against the Kansas City Chiefs throwing for 66 yards and an interception in a 44 to 23 loss P's first real action though came in week 13 when Jimmy G suffered a foot injury in the first quarter against the Miami Dolphins pie performed efficiently completing 25 of 37 passes for 210 yards and two TDS and a 33- 17 win pie became the first Mr Irrelevant to throw a touchdown pass in an NFL game following Jimmy's injury pie was named the starter for the remainder of the 2022 season perie took full advantage of this situation and did not look back he finished 2022 with a 50 record 1,374 pass yards 13 passing touchdowns and four interceptions herie led the 49ers to the playoffs last year and performed well in the Wild Card round he went off finishing 18 out of 30 passes for 332 yards and scored four total touchdowns to beat Seattle in advance the divisional round he then went on to beat the Dallas Cowboys in the divisional round but then got hurt early against the Philadelphia Eagles in NFC Championship which ultimately led to the end of the 49ers season now in 2023 Brock py was named the opening day starter the 49ers wore off to a great start going 5 and0 with py playing excellent football they have dropped the last three games but regardless what P has done to this point is downright insane and he should be the guy for San Fran for years to come now that we have touched on how py got here and what he has done let's take a look at the eight quarterbacks that were drafted before him the 20th overall pick the Pittsburgh Steelers selected the Pittsburgh product Kenny picket picket was seen as the top QB in this weak draft class he was a season player while playing at Pittsburgh with four years of starting experience picket was seen as a toolsy pocket passer with good mobility and had the size and physical attributes that you would want in a franchise quarterback so far though his NFL career has been pretty underwhelming he has shown flashes of being a franchise guy but just has not had near enough consistent play so far 19 starts he is 11 and8 with 3,000 734 yards 12 passing TDS and 13 picks unless picket turns it around sooner rather than later one would have to imagine the Steels will start to look for a new quarterback with a 74th overall pick the Atlanta Falcons selected Cincinnati's Desmond Ritter Ritter was another four-year starter who had a good college career there was nothing special about Ritter's size or arm talent but he possessed good mechanics and played with a high IQ in college although Scouts were concerned with his accuracy and ball placement Ritter sat behind Marcus Mariota most of his rookie year after Mariota struggled though he ended up starting the final four games for Atlanta his rookie year and played good enough that Atlanta made him the opening day starter going into 2023 his 2023 season has not been very good although the Falcons are 4 and four he has played poorly and Atlanta recently just named Taylor hinaki the starter there is a good chance rit's days of being a starter are already over with a 86 pick the Tennessee Titans selected Liberty Malik Willis there was talk that Willis would be the first could be taken in this draft because of his potential upside NFL scout Lance zerling even compared him to a Jay Cutler Jaylen Herz hybrid Willis did possess great speed with a cannon of an arm but had below average accuracy in mechanics Tennessee bet on his upside in the third round where there wasn't much of a risk Willis made his first start last year after tanhill set out due to illness he completed six out of 10 passes for 55 yards and one interception he went on to start two more games and just did not look like an NFL quarterback his arm is clearly not capable for being an NFL starter and he will likely be a career backup with the 94th pick the Carolina Panthers selected old misss Matt carral a confident small QB with a big heart carral had a good college career he showed a ton of talent in college but many Scouts were concerned that he was scheme dependent and was just not physically built to be good in the pros he suffered a season ending injury during preseason his rookie year he did didn't end up playing a snap for the Panthers and was waved in August the Patriots most recently claimed Carell off waivers but he never played a snap for them either and is now a free agent with the 137th pick in the 2022 NFL draft the New England Patriots selected Western kck's bayy zappy zappy was not seen as a good Prospect by most he did have high production in college but he was viewed unimpressive physically and lacked Precision accuracy most viewed him as a backup caliber Prospect zappy started his rookie year as the third string option behind M Jones and Brian Hoyer he was thrusted in the starting role in week four after injuries to both of these quarterbacks he went on to start two more games playing decent but once Jones was healthy he retained the starting role most recently the Patriots wave bayy zappy on final roster Cuts but he was then later signed back to the team overall probably another career backup guy with the 144th pick in the 2022 NFL draft the Washington Commander selected UNCC Sam how how was great early on in his career at UNC and guarded early draft pick buzz but his play dipped as his college career went on he possessed decent athleticism with an active arm but overall lacked traits to be a top quarterback prospect how made his first career start in week 18 of 2022 and had a decent performance beating the Dallas Cowboys Washington named him the opening day starter for 2023 he has had moments this year of being a good quarterback but overall not great so far this season he's three and five with 2,146 yards 13 passing TDS and eight interceptions how has the starting job for now but we'll probably need to prove more if he's going to hold on to the starter role for the future with the 241st pick in the NFL draft the Pittsburgh Steelers selected South Dakota State's Chris alokin alokin offered good arm talent and an ability to throw in the run in college but Scouts expressed that he must become a better decision maker and field reader to have a chance in the NFL he was waved before opening day in 2022 and was most recently signed to the Chiefs practice squad with a 247th pick the Miami Dolphins selected Kansas State Skyler Thompson Thompson's College production was not very impressive and he had real health concerns he did though have a decent arm and made plays on the move which is the reason he got drafted Thompson started two games for Miami in 2022 due to other QBs injured and underwhelmed he did win one game but overall did not look very good he was also forc to start in the playoffs last year it did almost beat the Buffalo Bills overall though another guy that will be a career backup finally with the last pick in the 2022 NFL draft the San Francisco 49ers selected Mr Irrelevant Brock pie Brock Pie has been great for the Niner since he's been drafted it's hard to imagine a guy that was the last pick in the draft being this successful but when you pair him with the K Shanahan scheme It just fits like a glove perie looks like he will be the future for the San Francisco 49ers and he looks like he will have a very good career thank
