okay so you read the title you know what this video is going to be about in this video I'm gonna go over some of the best NFL single game performances of all time to make it fair as usual I decided to go one game from each decade so without further Ado let's just start right away with the 2010s and for most of you I'm sure this is the decade of football that you're most familiar with and there were a ton of performances that just missed the top spot on this list I mean there was Peyton Manning's seven touchdown performance in an opening game against the Super Bowl champion Ravens the year prior and Calvin Johnson just having one of his average games and the game that I'm talking about is a week 10 performance in the year 2010 done by one Michael Vick now there were a lot of things that had to happen both good and bad to have Michael Vick in Philadelphia in the first place well if you didn't know Michael Vick actually had a fair share of run-ins with the law you know he had a Ron Mexico Scandal there and a huge dog problem there and he ended up in federal prison for a long time but once his prison time was up he signed with the Philadelphia Eagles and a lot a lot of people around the Philadelphia area were not happy with this I can't emphasize enough how serious this actually was it was so big that Obama President Barack Obama at the time called the Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie to tell him that he did the right thing by giving Michael Vick another chance but at this point Michael Vick's once promising NFL career looked like it was absolutely cooked but all he could ask for was one more shot after rotting in prison for 18 months and that's exactly what he got with the Eagles so after being a third backup for a year in 2010 it looked like he was finally gonna get his shot after the Eagles traded their franchise quarterback Donovan McNabb to Washington which only left Kevin Cobb ahead of him on the depth chart who the hell is Kevin Cobb but unfortunately for Kevin Cobb Michael Vick had performed a ritual before to get the starting job and in the first game of the year Cobb went down with an injury so as the last man standing Michael Vick now earned the starting job at quarterback for the Eagles for the whole season and Michael Vick had a career Renaissance and nothing short of that he was incredible all year long doing his usual Razzle Dazzle activities he did back in Atlanta and finished second in offensive player of the year voting at the end of the season which leads to the game in question an innocent looking Monday night game against Washington except there was a lot more behind this game than what met the eye as Donovan McNabb the quarterback of Washington actually played against Philadelphia earlier this season except for Michael Vick got injured early in the first quarter so we never got to see a fair duel between the two quarterbacks so finally in week 10 we got to see the quarterbacks Donovan McNabb and Michael Vick the guys of the Eagles past and future duke it out and it went pretty well for one of them my guess as the game began for the eagles they almost muffed the kick off but then on the first play from scrimmage Michael Vick rolls out to his left and throws in 88-yard touchdown to DeSean Jackson who gets absolutely dusted by this ref but still scores the touchdown on the first play of the game and usually it takes a few plays but no the Avalanche just piled on immediately as in three quarters the Eagles hung 59 points on Washington and Vic himself just buried McNabb statistically going 20 of 28 for 333 yards four touchdowns zero interceptions and wait eight carries for 80 yards on the ground with two rushing touchdowns and a final quarterback rating of 150.7 damn near perfect also for what it's worth Michael Vick had the best fantasy quarterback game of all time so he definitely created some insane comebacks on that night well if you've been watching these videos recently when we're talking about greatness this forehead just keeps popping up so yeah we're talking about Peyton Manning once again and we're going to his 2003 season where you know he did Peyton Manning stuff and casually won one of his five MVPs and just had an overall terrible year throwing for 4 267 yards about 29 touchdowns and a quarterback rating of 99 as the Colts went 12-4 in the season now I say that sarcastically but around this time in 2003 there was a very real narrative building about Peyton Manning just not being able to win playoff games and you know there might have been at least a little bit of logic to that as to this point he had never won a playoff game ever and just got pulverized by 40 last year to the New York Jets and unfortunately for the Colts at 12 and 4 there was one man on one team better than them so the Colts had to play in the Wild Card round against the 10 and six Broncos and you know the Broncos were your average playoff team but they did have the ninth best defense overall in the NFL and the sixth best passing defense so at least they weren't going to get torched through the air in our offense they were still really dangerous as they had an out of prime Shannon sharp Rod Smith and Clinton Portis on offense and for Portis his 200-yard five touchdown performance barely missed this spot for the 2000s instead Peyton Manning took this spot so against this by all metrics over-the-top solid pass defense Peyton Manning went ah 22 for 26 passing 377 yards five touchdowns zero interceptions with the highest possible quarterback rating you can record with a record-breaking 158.3 you could not replicate a more perfect quarterback performance than Peyton Manning on that very day and also Peyton Manning would be the certified owner of Mike Shanahan's Broncos as he kicked his ass in the playoffs for two years straight okay for the 1990s so in the 90s the Cowboys had some okay running back named Emmett Smith he carried the ball a few times he was all right he racked up a few rushing yards you know the deal but we're gonna hyper focus on the 1993 season where a Hall of Fame running back and the arguable Goat at his position had the best season of his career so going into this year the Cowboys were in the midst of their Dynasty and had just won a Super Bowl the year and in 1993 he ran for 1486 yards on just 283 carries averaging 106.1 yards per game and somehow earned some shiny trophy that's called the MVP and you know Emmitt Smith was probably the most valuable player to his team and in his best game of his life he would definitely prove that all right it's January 2nd 1994 and the Giants are playing the Cowboys with one game separating the two for the one seed in the NFC so it's safe to say for both teams with Super Bowl aspirations this game meant life or death and as the game began unlike the modern Cowboys these guys handle business early and jumped out to a 13-0 lead at halftime but of course the contract they signed in exchange for their Dynasty had one Hefty price to pay as Emmett Smith separated his entire shoulder right before the half so Emmett Smith had a actual separated shoulder neck spasms bruises everywhere and a hurt sternum I don't even know what a sternum is regardless according to Emmitt Smith it hurt a lot but a mere non-functioning shoulder wasn't enough to keep this grizzled war veteran out of the battlefield so he came back out and the Cowboys fed him over and over and over again with one arm and remember this was all on Turf that had more properties relating to concrete than grass and Emmitt Smith in this game had a season-high 32 carries for 168 yards 10 catches for 61 yards and a touchdown in a win so obviously not the most statistically glaring game ever but my Lord the Giants knew he was hurt so he had Lawrence Taylor out there head hunting him while Emmett Smith literally had to have his lineman lift him off the ground after every play just to get back in the Huddle and the biggest thing as mentioned this game was before the playoffs I of course Emmett Smith continued chugging along I'm sure taking like 16 Vicodin before every game on the road to another Super Bowl ring but there are performances that arguably are even tougher so if you haven't noticed uh gutsy performances are about to be a theme here and Kellen Winslow's performance in the 1981 AFC divisional game was nothing different so the 1981 Chargers were pretty solid but nothing over the top they did have the best offense in the entire league though with Don Coryell as their coach and although they did have other amazing players on this team they also had Hall of Fame tight end Kellen Winslow on the team no not that one the other one the senior uh this season as a tight end he had 88 catches for 1075 yards in 10 touchdowns in an era where throwing the ball was less common and especially to tight ends which takes us to the 81 divisional game the Chargers versus the Dolphins where the Chargers would go up against Don Shula's fifth best defense in the NFL but come on if you don't understand the theme at this point good defenses are nothing to stop inhuman performances on a day where it was 88 humidity just blistering conditions Winslow finished this overtime Thriller with 13 catches for 166 yards a touchdown that took the lead and a game-winning field goal block I you can't even make this up the tight end got a game-winning field goal Block in overtime to seal a win I mean this man Kellen Winslow gave every single ounce of his fiber of being on the field and even played on special teams and by the end of the game the man was so tired he had to have his lifeless body dragged off the field by his own teammates with one of the most iconic NFL photos of all time although we just talked about games where players weren't a hundred percent and also games where players were limping off the field how about a game that just had absolutely everything and 1977 Walter Payton was a different animal I'm not even gonna waste the time listing off this man's season stats just know he ran for at the time the third most rushing yards in NFL history with 1852 and won the MVP just because so yeah the man was just nothing short of an actual goat and later on in the season Walter Payton would produce his career's magnum opus except there was one small small issue Walter Payton was violently ill before the game and reports were saying that it was way worse than a regular flu they said he was literally lying on the locker room floor motionless with warm towels all around his body but come on this was football in the 1970s so unless you were legally classified as dead you were getting back on that football field so the Bears trotted Walter Payton onto the field anyway and gave him a pretty light load early on running the ball with him 26 times in the first half alone I mean they only attempted one pass in in the entire first half and hold on the pass even went to Walter Payton this sick man was responsible for every offensive snap in the first half and the Bears would go on to win the game by a mere three points so sweetness finished the game with 40 carries for at the time the most rushing yards in NFL history with 275 and a touchdown so if one thing is for certain in order to have an all-time great game you gotta bleed at least a little bit for your success and anyways if you enjoyed this video then subscribe because I got a lot of videos in the channel just like this one and if you like this video then watch this video right here on the hardest Super Bowl ever won it's pretty good trust me anyways until next time
