to show you 15 of the best restaurants we'll start with one of Mike's favorite restaurants in the city called Ru which serves Japanese Cuisine let's head upstairs and check it out there's a cool looking bar area in the middle but we walked around the bar and made our way over to their enclosed patio area at the back after sitting down and having a look at the menu we got a picture of saporo beer to begin our meal followed by the omasi of Buri Sushi which comes with The Chef's Choice of eight pieces of lightly seared Sushi and four kinds of toppings the pieces of a Buri Sushi were quite large and were very tasty then we had the pork cutlet coudon in this human humongous Bowl which came with crispy fried omoi pork cutlet on top of Premium sanuki UDA noodles in a dashy based curry soup we've never had a bowl this big and I absolutely loved the pork cutlet and the curry soup we definitely recommend it next was the artfully presented Deluxe Seafood Bowl which came with a generous portion of seafood including Alba cor tuna salmon scallop sea urchin spot prawn and more on a bed of Premium sushi rice we also chose the Seafood Bar chirashi Bowl with fresh seafood cubes festively spread on top of Ru original sushi rice the people beside us ordered this incredible Sashimi platter which they were kind enough to let us film our meal at Ru was phenomenal all of the food had an excellent presentation and tasted delicious although we did order way too much food but let's keep going and show you some more great food options in Vancouver the next place is called Kingo it's a Japanese isaka restaurant with the same owners as Ru the interior features a Bamboo Garden in the middle and has lots of wood finishes it's always busy so go early to avoid a lineup we went for lunch chicken carag as well as the grilled pork cheek to share doesn't that look appetizing Tom ordered the kazawa curry and porkloin cutlet served on a thick and Rich curry with finely stewed Beef Pork and Bento Box includes soup and rice in addition to 16 different tasters it's it's the perfect choice for those like me who want to try a little bit of everything our meal at Kenya was wonderful the food which were our favorites the traditional sushi lunch combo also came with miso soup which they brought out afterwards overall we had a fantastic meal at meiku we really enjoyed the view as well as the food but let's keep going there's lots more to eat in our food tour like published on Maine which is a contemporary Canadian restaurant with a Michelin star let's go inside and show you what makes it so special we booked our dinner reservation a month in advance so that we could give this place a try there's an area at the front with some lovely hanging plants and also a nice bar seating area but we chose to have our meal in their main dining section and started off with a couple of rewind loggers to drink then to begin we shared the feature albor tuna tataki with turnup and avocado and a side of peanut miso which was finished by our waitress pouring another sauce over the top it tasted fabulous next came the Japanese style milk buns which are honey glazed and come with a side of Whi butter topped with bee pollen after that we got the chicken liver which was artfully presented followed by the pork snitel with 10,000 island dressing and house pickled zucchini we also had the Fraser Valley for the finale I had the coffee dessert with espresso mousse with caramel toffee discs and a malted barley crumble and Mike chose the hay dessert which was an aerated hay Custard with green apple and chamomile mering every dish was beautifully presented and tasted exceptional the service was topnotch too publish Tom main is welld deserving of their Michelin star our next stop is at one of Tom's favorite restaurants in Vancouver called East is East they have a diverse Eastern menu ranging from Afghan to Tibetan flavors as soon as we walked in we were given some compliment soy chai then we followed the hostess to our table for our lunch reservation in their warm and rustic dining room which had lots of wood finishes and these colorful carpets adorning the walls in our opinion the design of the restaurant's interior felt quite charming and very relaxed especially with these unique wooden tables and chairs across from us after browsing through the menu and sipping on our free soy chai drinks Mike's mom ordered the fullsize soy chai tea with Masala chai organic soy milk and green tea and Mike and I both got the Lone Tree dry cider to drink then to eat we all decided on the chai Feast special it's their signature your tasting menu and to begin it's served with your choice of any two main dishes soup and salad and also comes with bulani sauerkraut and Afghan and basmati rice this is the lunch price during the week Monday to Friday and goes up to $29 per person for the weekend lunch it was a fantastic value and really tasty and after you finish your first round you can also order as many other dishes as you like which is also included in the price our favorites were the mango chicken the chicken masala the spinach paneer the bulani and the Alo GOI although we thoroughly enjoyed every dish that we tried here but let's continue on our food tour there are lots more tasty restaurants in Vancouver like this Korean barbecue restaurant in the West End called dieback bonga it's located on the second level so let's head upstairs and check it out inside is quite large with many barbecue stations and after being seated and looking over the menu we decided on a picture of San Honey brown logger to begin our dinner then our waiter helped us light our table's built-in barbecue grill since we had no idea what we were doing we thought that the all you can eat menu see looked great and we're given this piece of paper to order and while we waited for our first round of food to arrive we saw this cute robot delivering food to the other tables which was pretty neat we started started off with some rice balls kioza sweet potato kimchi and veggie pancakes as well as some beef belly torch Sushi and some pork collar torch Sushi shortly afterwards our first meat selection started to arrive I got to sit back and relax while Tom worked the grill for the evening as he continued to barbecue the cheese buttered corn arrived as well as many more of the other dishes that we had chosen to order just look at all of that appetizing food that we got what an incredible Feast it barely fits on the table we were able to order four separate times with a maximum of 10 meat items per person each time we could also order as many side dishes as we liked in those four orders I especially enjoyed the torched Sushi which was very hot we could have gotten way more but we were full after only 2 and 1/2 partial orders Pro tip if you give a good review online you can get a 10% discount the next restaurant is just downstairs and is a super popular place called Ramen danbo inside their main dining area is pretty small but there's also a little more seating at the counter by the kitchen it's always busy so if you want to avoid the line then make sure to go right when it opens to start our meal we each indulged in a saporo draft beer to drink and to eat I ordered the chashumen Nei Ramen which came with six slices of bre ra pork belly sesame oil specially roasted sesame seeds and fresh scallions and I added a softboiled egg as well as the pan fried Yaki gooa and Tom had the classic Ramen with their signature ton katsu pork broth two slices of brace pork belly and fresh scallions as well as an added softboiled egg we also shared the chashu pork and takana donb Bowl as well as the chashu pork dabur Bowl which was too much food the ramen here brought back memories of Tokyo we can see why it's always so big busy somehow we finished everything down to the last drop but the ramens were definitely the best part next we'll take a 5 minute walk down Robson Street and head over to Chinchin resturante it's an upscale Italian eery that's located on the second floor up these stairs after checking in for our dinner reservation we followed the hostess through the restaurant to our table in their Charming main dining room which was quite busy we started off with a couple of glutenberg blonde beers to begin our meal then they brought us some complimentary Breads and fukasha with a green olive tapanade for appetizers we got the wagu beef carpac with Summer truffle truffle aoli micro rugula and pecino Al Toro as well as the parmesan sule which is baked hazelnut Sage age balsamic and Parmesan and Tom had the Ros down Farm chicken with Summer truffle and Sage Chestnut potato nyaki spinach and mayaki mushrooms Tom loved the chicken it was very tender and juicy my agnolotti was delicious too the chicken was a large portion and the Truffle grilled on top really elevated the flavors of the dish our meal at Chin Chin was brilliant but let's keep going there's lots more to eat our next stop is right across the street from Vancouver City Hall and has earned a Michelin star it's called Quan Juda Beijing duck house originally established in 1864 in Beijing they opened their Vancouver location in 2019 let's head inside for our lunch reservation and follow the hostess to our table in their main dining room which was elegantly decorated and very bright and spacious with a nice wood feature wall the ceiling was quite interesting too which represents the rooftops of a village in China we chose to have the Quan Juda lunch special combo for two and were given some complimentary green tea then as an appetizer each of us were served a bowl of the Quan Juda signature Duck Soup as well as some soybeans followed by the brazed salmon belly in fermented bean curd sauce which was Fant fantastic it was absolutely delicious next our Quan Juda signature Beijing duck was wheeled out on this fancy golden trolley cart and from our table we were able to watch the chef precisely cut off the crispy duck skin which was then portioned into nice bite-sized pieces and after that he plated them for us and added a little garnish to get the best flavor we were advised to eat the duck skin with the brown sugar right away while it was still crispy while we were eating The Delectable duck skin our Chef continued carving up the Beijing duck meat into juicy mouw watering slices which he then expertly placed onto The Cutting Board in a layered visually appealing pattern at the same time our waitress lit the heater underneath our Crepes which were quite steamy right after that the first plate of Beijing duck was ready which our waitress served to us oh man doesn't that look Happ appetizing this was our first time eating Beijing duck so our kind waitress showed us how to do it properly first she took a steamed crepe and added some cucumber and scallion on top then she took the duck meat and dipped it in the sweet soybean paste and placed it on the crepe she then delicately folded up the crepe with her Chopsticks in three turns the Beijing duck crepe was delicious it tasted absolutely incredible next it was my turn to try and I definitely wasn't going to fold it up with chopsticks so I just used my hands I think I did an all right job and our waitress thought so too I can't believe we've never tried this before we'll definitely have to get it again the chef continued carving another full platter of duck meat for us then we were served a scrumptious dish of coconut infused pumpkin and Tarot casserole after that followed by our dessert which was a bowl of freshly ground round almond soup with glutenous rice dumplings for each of us the rice dumplings were light tasting and a little bit sweet it was a nice way to end our wonderful meal here there was so much food we couldn't finish it all and we had tons of leftovers the service was some of the best we've ever had the food was exceptional and we would definitely recommend their lunch special now let's head over to Chinatown for some traditional Chinese barbecue at this place appropriately named Chinatown barbecue as soon as we stepped inside we noticed their barbecued Meats hanging on display and their dining room had a nice retro kind of vibe with a black and white checkered floor once seated we were served some complimentary tea then they offered to move us to a booth when one was free to eat Mike had the roasted rack of crispy pork on steamed rice and I ordered the soy sauce chicken which came with a Ginger and scallion sauce and was also served on steamed rice additionally we decided to order the large barbecue pork Hong Kong style meat platter as well as some Chinese sausage as a side dish and an extra order of jazine steamed rice to go with it the soy chicken the crispy pork and the barbecue pork were all delicious as usual we ordered way too much food so there were lots of leftovers but there's more to eat so let's keep going to a Japanese Kitchen in Chinatown called Tokyo in April it's a lively and very popular restaurant which had a buzzing atmosphere on the evening that we went for dinner to celebrate Tom's Omar rice which is a special of the restaurant this dish is a fluffy and creamy egg omelette that was delicately cut open and served over top of fried rice with a tasty Curry type of sauce we thought that the RAR rice had a wonderful presentation and that it tasted exceptional it was definitely our favorite dish here afterwards they served the katsudon which is a rice bowl topped with breaded pork cutlet eggs and sauteed onions soaked with a sweet and savory sauce we also chose to get a tuna macki roll as well as a salmon and avocado roll to eat after that we thought that the tuna Mai roll and the salmon and avocado roll were reasonably priced and tasty we do love our Sushi next was the flame seared gisha roll filled with pra tempura Kappa and tago and topped with chopped scallop unagi sauce House special sauce and fish flakes that would have been more than enough but we also got the spider roll with soft shell crab meat cucumber avocado tobico and unagi sauce we had an excellent
