the video it's been years since the reality TV series storage board started following a group of people as they bid on abandoned storage lockers while seemingly being at constant war with each other there have been some great finds and interesting moments on the show and behind the scenes alike over the years but there have also been situations that are completely the opposite so let's have a look at seven storage board moments that went wrong both on and off camera in the episode titled glass mattress standing from season 8 the biggest risk taker on the show darrell Sheets decided to step up at the bigger table as he put it the gambler explained that he had millions of dollars worth of merchandise and that he's going to sell it at the million dollar auction sheets wasn't doing this only for profit though as the auction was also an opportunity for him to stop digging through lockers for good and get into the high stakes auction world before the auction Darrell went through everything with his crew and it seemed that they had everything covered at least organization wise people slowly started arriving in the venue was eventually filled but in the last moment the gambler himself decided to step in as the auctioneer just to make sure he gets the top dollar what happened next was an exercise in awkwardness and frustration as it became evident that Darrell clearly lacked some decent auctioneering skills that could rival the ones of Dan Dotson for example anyway the gambling auctioneer started with smaller and cheaper items like Disney's framed the pointer that went for 60 bucks Ruby glass phase that brought him $75 martini glasses worth 20 and c3po mask worth 350 bucks considering the items that were circulating it all felt more like a flea market than a million dollar auction so she's decided to turn it up and and bring in the big-ticket items first up was a pricey Rolex watch that nobody was interested in which obviously annoyed the storage for a star who couldn't help himself but say the situation didn't get any better when a sign Salvador Dali piece was brought in as people stopped paying attention and started casually talking amongst themselves when the expensive jewelry that followed didn't get much attention either be obviously dissatisfied and irritated auctioneer had to take it out on somebody so he addressed the lady in the back who was sipping a glass of wine telling her that this wasn't a wine club but an auction well judging by the way Darrell carried himself the entire thing was actually anything but an auction and the idea of retiring on one auction wasn't the best to begin with as the people that attended the event certainly didn't seem to be the type that's ready to splash ridiculous amounts of money just like that back in the 2015 episode titled The Hills Have Eyes the crew went to the mountains of River Forest California where anything could happen and be found according to Dan Dotson during the bidding for one of the lockers Ivey jarrod and renee won adits with ivy ultimately winning the bid for 500 bucks while opening the locker Ivy explained that he wanted it because he had seen a vintage bike inside and he couldn't wait to get his hands on it initially the contents of the locker seemed promising as it was completely stacked with suitcases the aforementioned bike a stove a skateboard a stroller a bed as well as in a water heater a coke sign a mattress a marble top dresser fishing nets golf clubs and interestingly a wooden box with bad conservation written on it along with a carving of a bat concluding that he already doubled his money Ivey decided to find out how much is the bat house worth so he went to an expert the lady explained that the five chamber bat house could fit up to five hundred bats but unfortunately for Ivy concluded that his unusual find would be worth only $100 mus to his disappointment in one of the specials of the show the cast talked about their weirdest finds among other things and while they all said they had found a lot of pornography over the years laura dotson told a story about how one woman once bought a unit with a two by two before box in it that was wrapped in plastic when she opened the box she wasn't just disappointed to find nothing of value but actually horrified Venice she found a dead man inside and darrell Sheets then revealed that something similar had happened to him in the storage locker in San Diego California in the late 80s as well the gambler didn't really want to talk about it and only said that it was unpleasant adding that things like that can happen in this business I see it found ashes as well as coffins over the years the following situation didn't exactly happen on the show but it involved a fan-favorite bidder and was controversial enough to make the headlines only to show how a joke especially when it's in poor taste can quickly go wrong and affect the cast members at one point Barry Weiss probably the coolest bidder who left the show back in 2013 gained some rather unwanted attention thanks to Sandra Bullock's ex-husband Jesse James shortly after admitting that he cheated on Sandra Bullock Jesse James found himself in hot waters when a photo of him wearing a Nazi SS hats and doing a Sieg Heil salute leaked online Jesse defended himself by saying it was a joke heated for shock value and revealed that he got the hat from Barry Weiss while this immediately raised some eyebrows it turned out that the Hat was not a real deal but a part of the costume furthermore in his autobiography titled American outlaw James admitted that he even begged Weiss who was apparently a friend of his father's for support after the scandal but was declined obviously Barry did tried to distance himself from the scandal in the drama but thanks to James book the entire incident was unnecessarily brought back into the light so some viewers eventually got tired of it all considering the storage Bors is all about items that may or may not be a value the last thing you would expect to be found stashed in the storage unit is actual money however that's exactly what happened during one anonymous sale at one point a woman approached him and explained that her husband had bought a storage unit for 500 bucks from him and found a safe inside the safe was taken to a locksmith and once they opened it they found seven point five million dollars stashed inside however this obviously raised some red flags in soon enough they were approached by an attorney who told them that the original owners were offering $600,000 in exchange for all the money from the safe since the couple declined the offer the original owners made a second one of twelve hundred thousand dollars since nobody in their right mind would have 7.5 million dollars a storage unit just like that the general belief was that the money stash was connected to the Mafia or a cartel and the reward of 1.2 million dollars was probably an offer the couple couldn't refuse every TV show has a character everyone loves to hate and his storage wars it was definitely dave Hester and in the early days of the show he happily played the part the former storage wars regular was always pretty confrontational and looking to pick a fight but what annoyed his fellow buyers even more was his habit of driving up the prices of storage units if he was aware that someone else wanted to buy them on top of that he seemed to be incredibly lucky with his fines but all his character traits aside he did pretty well for himself during the time he spent on the show one of his biggest finds goes all the way back to the episode titled the old Spanish standoff from the first season when the buyers were bidding for a storage unit filled with newspapers as the bidding went on Gerald Barry and Dave were the last ones left with Daryl being the first to drop out when Dave offered 750 dollars for the unit Barry decided to drop out as well explaining that he couldn't get close enough to the newspapers to check them out see what they look like and figure out whether or not they're worth anything when the storage bores bad he opened his locker he concluded that he paid a lot of money for wrapping paper so these better be worth something luckily for him as soon as he began inspecting the newspapers he found an issue of Memphis press from August 16 1977 the day Elvis Presley died moreover all the newspapers were from the same day and were limited editions which made the 750 dollar unit a gold mine as all the papers featured the face of the king of rock'n roll while at first glance this seemed like a big win the entire moment turned sour as after winning his bid and a few others where he found valuable items Hester became suspicious and realized that the producers were drawing attention to certain boxes or unload the storage unit so he would quote unquote discover certain items later on he filed a big lawsuit against A&E in which among whole lot of other things he claimed that the producers were planting valuable items and goods in the storage units before the shooting in order to make the show more interesting while the producers certainly achieved what they hope to achieve when the details from Hester's lawsuit became known to the public every discovery of a valuable item was ruined both for viewers and for bidders just like every other reality TV show storage wars has had a lot of things going on behind the scenes and not all of them were pleasant naturally when these things eventually become known to the public they can be quite off-putting for the viewers and drive people away from the show this was probably the case with a massive off screen brawl that erupted on the set of storage wars according to various sources during a video shoot in Palm Springs Florida dan dotson the auctioneer missed a bit plays by Mary another cast member the producers realized this so they instructed dave Hester one of the stars of the show to inform dotson about his oversight Hester what I hadn't told Anson that he had made a mistake - which dotson replied by screaming and swearing at Hester saying that he's going to kill him things escalated really fast and has to reportedly pudge Dodson in the face followed by Dotson punching him in the eye Dawson's wife Laura allegedly jumped on Hester's back and she was tossed through the air the security guards eventually broke up the fight and according to TMZ Hester was taken to a hospital where he received a tetanus shots because Laura managed to scratch him in
