[Music] so as you can see from the hat on my head and the uniform that i'm wearing name of the place that i'm working for it's called general rv they've got 14 locations throughout the united states and i'm currently doing transports and a number of other things i drive a forklift during the day and i move a lot of heavy equipment around and it's really awesome it's a killer job but you want to learn something immerse yourself in it i mean what better place than to have somebody else give you multi hundred thousand dollar units to transport around driving these things around on little surface streets taking them to different places picking up customers or delivering them to their houses or taking it to a shop to have emissions done doesn't matter whatever it is my job is to transport them around and i've driven big class a units before but this is getting me super familiar with everything front to back top to bottom all of it so that when i go on the road at the end of this year november of 2021 is the plan i've got a it's a multi-fast plan by working for these guys i've already started the discussions with them about uh sponsoring me giving me a motorhome not giving me but having me take one of their flagship motorhomes across the united states and doing commercials for them showing everything there is to know about it what it's like to take one on the road and to live in one for however long i live in it and do commercials and basically talk about all the different features plus i'm going to get a number of sponsors i'm looking at uh i'm not gonna name any of them here in this video yet but i've got a number of local utah vendors that outfit these units with all the different equipment inside of them as well as a few others uh there's one that's a vitamin company another one that is a uh energy bar company again local utah companies i'm looking to sponsor and have them give me their product let me take it on the road and pay me to basically use their advertising dollars and talk about their product influence this stuff the really valuable way of in my opinion of you know real world examples take their stuff use it i love it i love this i don't love that this is what's cool about it this doesn't have enough headroom these drawers are sticky whatever you know talk about all of them here's my plan and then third facet my plan which is to go on the road and go from repo company to repo company and show you guys around the country what it's like to repossess the different parts of the united states so this is what i'm doing i'm in training right now for the next nine months i'm gonna be doing this someone else is gonna pay me to learn how to drive around in a couple hundred thousand dollar home awesome stuff really enjoying myself [Music] backup camera right there we know the repo nuts used to those always set our parking brake oh isn't that just fancy [Applause] yep it's an e350 frame there's one right there on the transit frame that's a crosstrek we got a four winds we've got another crosstrek which is why i was just driving then winnebago i just can't decide these are much easier to drive and better fuel mileage and has everything that i need but that right there tempting we'll have to see what the powers that be these guys are going to be sponsoring me on this uh well that's my game plans to have them sponsored on it it's not set in stone yet but like anything else in life you want it to happen fake it till you make it make it become your reality i knew i needed to shift into rvs to do the next phase of my life to bring you guys the repos from around the country so this is my game plan it's gonna be good once everyone's able to see the full 360 and come around it's gonna be awesome it's gonna be awesome looking forward to the next evolution of the repo nut channel [Applause] just have this uh trade-in come in it's a model that we don't carry xlr boost fifth wheel it's always interesting when you start a new job working for somebody you see what they carry if they have a product you can figure out really fast whether you're working for a place that's a good place or a crappy place and the place i'm working is freaking general rv they are like top of the line everything that they carry is the best but they have you know when i say top of the line i mean most expensive i mean best quality they've got a really good mix across the board of all their stuff but this is actually a unit they don't carry i always like to go through them and look at what electronics they have and which motors they use how you know down to what it is for their blinds you know there's a little chintzy stuff that's garbage you know whether you can see the screws or whether they hide them you know again the electronics what kind of switches they use even even how they feel when you push on them and stuff but especially aesthetics you look into a bathroom right when i open the door right away there's certain units that you just you go wow like and they didn't say what sticks out about this it's unique these guys decided to do a curved shower whereas some people just put a little square thing in the corner it just doesn't look as nice most of them use these little portable units but there's some that actually put what looks like real house bath toilets in the units and i don't know why but to me that makes a difference you know the quality of the cabinetry the trim the carpet you know whether those cables that you can see that are haven't been ran correctly and they're kind of fished through you know little teeny details putting usb chargers one on his side one on her side just crazy how how those things make a difference but i like this right here this is something that most of our units have it's actually becoming standard in the industry they pre-wire for solar so all the wiring's already ran so if you decide to add solar you don't have to tear through everything you can try to fish wires through these things after they've been built it's you know they don't leave conduit and empty panels like they do in a house they should but they don't so what they do is they just pre-wire for things i've had to wire up one of these with a sound system before and put it in cameras and flat screens and it's it's difficult that's why wireless especially with the cameras is a great way to go now that the technology's gotten to where it's you know high quality enough i actually have a project coming up i'm going to show you guys it's pretty cool that i'm using wireless video technology for something that is never been used before here and it's it's quite phenomenal it's a neat little project i'll share with you guys an upcoming video but the thing i want to talk about in this video is something that i haven't thought of in a long time i've been in the same industry doing the same work for a couple decades you know i mean i have had other jobs side jobs or even sometimes repo became my side job or my second job and i had another full-time job where i put in you know 40 hours a week and when you work at a in a new industry doing something different you start learning stuff that you new things new skills and when you've been doing the same skills at the same job for years and years and years you forget about that you forget about what it's like to be the new guy and all the things that come with that and having somebody as your trainer and they're training you uh they're t all these things it's like they say it's like drinking out of a fire hose it's just coming at you and coming at you all this stuff and it's like you're trying to process it and then like well depending on the person for me i've been here for two months not quite two months but coming up on two months and today i was thinking man i've got this job down and and the job is fun and i know it's fun from the beginning but there's that first month or so where you're kind of a little stressed out and you're and you're processing things and you might make a couple mistakes or all those little things and then also there's that point where you just go i got it and then at that point you start enjoying the job or you go i got it and i freaking hate this place you know but i'm talking in the sense of being at a place is a fun job and what you're doing is interesting i'm learning so many new things and the reason i took this job it's not because i want to drive a forklift and move rvs around and transport equipment no i didn't do that this isn't a career for me i have a career i know who i am and what i do i'm moving into the next evolution of my life where i'm going to be living in a motor home full time so i want to know everything there is to know about these things so that when i'm out on the road i can fix my own you know i'm not going to that's just how i am you know you guys see me i'm retaliating with my truck and my equipment and my everything i have a certain way and i like to know everything there's to know about something that is a part of my life something as major as what you're living in you've got to know it and that's just how i am and that's why i took this job is to learn all that stuff basically these guys yeah they're giving me an hour pay but the benefit i'm getting from this job is something i it would be expensive to go to a school and have someone teach you all of this stuff and i'm getting it for free on the job training it's awesome so some of the things i want to talk about that i think are really important for people to understand is the difference between your skill levels you know you have a skilled person and then you have what you call it an expert they say an expert someone who's had 10 000 hours of doing the same thing over and over and over i don't know if there's an exact science or number to it but you know when you've come to the point where you have exhausted all skill sets that you need and you know every little teeny detail and nuance about the job you're doing that's a skilled worker when you go into expert that's when you start to see things that other people don't see the guy that trains you he missed that he doesn't even know about it matter of fact while he was training you he has his him or her have their uh what we call bad habits things they do wrong and a good skilled worker might not know that they may not be able to pick up on the person teaching them something and it's the wrong way an expert once you become expert level you'll look back and you'll go oh and you'll realize you've been doing it the way you've been doing it because that's the way you were taught to do it well if you're doing it wrong real quick you'll figure that out if you're good and in this job right here there's been a number of things that and it's not anything against the trainer it's that that was probably the way they were trained or that was the way they were trained and it comes down the line it breaks that cycle breaks when someone like me comes through who's an innovator i'm my whole thing is about uh efficiency and safety and you know you don't want to damage anything i can pick up a ten thousand dollar trailer and move it i can pick up a half million dollar trailer and move it you damage either one of them the damage is the same you can do three thousand dollars in damage in the blink of an eye if someone teaches you how to do something wrong the odds go up that you're going to probably have an accident or something's going to happen that's why they say knowledge is power and that is one of the truest statements in life that you could ever truly meditate on and understand the the the deep deep meaning there of knowledge is power as you do things at your job and you learn things things should flow well there should be an efficiency to them you find yourself doing three things going back and forth back and forth back and forth and at the end you go well it's got to be an easier way to do that think about that look at it look at the process and don't get stuck in the procedures because the procedures may have been taught to you wrong look at it it's okay to think and go there is a better way to do this and sometimes the idea might even sound crazy work it through and then if you do it and it's more efficient start practicing it and then once you've got it down and you can show to another person very clearly that doing it this way is much better go to your manager and say hey i have an idea you've got this problem and i've got a solution never take a problem to a manager and not have a solution always bring a solution with you have the whole package they'll look at it and they'll go home and they might not say okay right then because it's been being done the same way there for 10 15 years it might but then they'll think about it and then they might come back to you like you know go ahead and try that look try it out let me know how that's working you don't need to be like oh i've already been doing it for four weeks you say yes sir great you know make them think it was their idea they gave you the thumbs up good to go you've already been beta testing this thing you know it works and then it becomes gospel it's the way it's done now and then when you train the next person you're training them on a better more efficient way safer cost effective blah blah blah blah blah be that kind of employee your your bosses the people that own the place other employees they'll notice it it's a good way of being in life in general but in a new job when you're learning new processes and stuff man knock it out of the park have fun with it thanks guys you
