[Music] [Applause] [Music] two years ago a client brought us a 1971 plymouth cuda 344 speed originally a gold car the owner wanted to pay tribute to the kuda that appeared in the 1979 cult classic horror film phantasm the phantasm cuda has really come into fruition this year we painted the car black installed the drivetrain had eclipse measuring system out to record vital data we could use on our phantom cuda and began installing the supporting chrome trinkets and trim despite all our efforts to stay on course the right passenger door was chipped and now we only have a week to repair it and finish the car for delivery [Music] my name's i'm darren kirkpatrick and we get paid to bring dead cars back to life we work with my best friend royal and my son-in-law josh we searched far and wide to find how a car was built where it spent its life and how it died after that we bring it back to look exactly the way it did on the day it was born if we don't kill each other just shut your mouth before i actually punch you out can i leave a handprint on your face we still have a ton of cars in the shop right now uh it seems to have come to a bottleneck with the black 71 phantasm cuda all of our attention all of our efforts are focused on it right now so everything else that's already been painted was in the process of being painted is now on hold while we focus on getting this car done the fact is we have absolutely no other time so if he doesn't have it back in a week he's going to be hopping he's going to be pissed off and we're going to be in trouble [Music] if possible accurate exhaust is coming up tomorrow to install the system for us because you guys are too lame to get it done on time we're installing some of the muffler pieces on the 71 cuda one of the pieces is the heat shield that goes on both the passenger and the driver's side it keeps the heat from being able to come up off of the resonator and go into the inside of the car just it's a safety factor plus it helps keep the car cool on the inside but we need to have the hangers the exhaust shields and the manifolds can you handle that well are you working on the exhaust panel yeah i like it i'm a little bit worried about getting the car done on time and that shows it shows in how i work it shows that there's a bit of franticness about me and i'm sorry for that but i have to push everybody to get this stuff done or it's not going to get done you got some tools for that buddy i asked you to help earlier today you weren't here to help earlier today you know what then you question then you could give me the other heat shield the heat shield just protects the body or what may or may not be inside the trunk from the muffler keeps the body and what could be the trunk from getting hot maybe catching on fire that's all it is the shield god i love the way these fit these go on here that is so cool [Music] i've had a lot of these that aren't good the ones from accurate every time fit the hole like they're supposed to be i had one where i couldn't yet will i don't know what darren's problem is again i don't think he's focusing he's dropping things on my head something's going to get scratched or damaged if he doesn't start paying attention yeah i'm lucky you dropped it and caught it before it hit me i am lucky all i really needed to do was hold the shield up in place well i started the screws in it i turned around and royal's over at the counter doing i don't know what i mean he knows we got to get stuff done but it wasn't helping us get the heat shields on i decided to put the teflon tape on the studs get the exhaust manifolds ready to go on i was actually helping mark out he won't admit to it would you be willing to hold it there and not drop it yes or no if you won't i understand i wouldn't yes okay i did drop it on purpose last time i know because you were a bunch of grief you know i think mark is maybe stressed out because his medicine is running low i really don't know why he's stressed out he doesn't really do anything around him let's all work together and try to have some joy shall we we don't that's something we don't have a lot of around here is joy why do you think that is i don't really know what happened during his childhood but if something had happened in his childhood it is starting for life i am not all right okay buddy all right okay are you going to tighten those down i do 7 16. i betcha glues them flatten them tighten them down rear hangers on left hand side heat shield on left hand side i'm going to go to the front muffler clamp oh it's bent or something hand me a hammer darren thank you [Music] what's the paint in your rear end tapping things into place and and sheet metal and moving it around a little bit that's what you have to do to make things work i'm careful i don't damage anything let me count the waves okay we're all set that one up in there i got the screws you have the screws for that you need three or four you gotta stop asking eight times just ask once and give the guy a chance to have time how many how do you need i said i have just can i have a chance to answer the helmet three okay i got him what's the problem all right that's gonna be a long night you want a hammer yeah a real one not that little body hammer that funny hammer you gave me just go in there and allow me anything to do everything's a joke for you isn't it we just finished putting in all of the provisions for the exhaust system which is two sets of hangers and the heat shields now we're going to lower the car down and get the manifolds on so tomorrow we can get all the exhaust on you know i just read that these exhaust manifolds that everybody passes on have the exact same performance as the hp the famous hp 68 to 70. with their design i don't remember which one i don't know why they changed the crazy thing i don't know i don't know which one mine had okay we threw them away back then you got a 71 model e body car the cuda that should have the exhaust hangers up near the shock mounts in the back prior to january 1st 1970 prior to that the hangers go right where we put them because it was built in a certain month prior to that change over the exhaust hangers go where the 1970 model would you've got to know what you're doing you've got to know what you're working on you've got to be aware of the surroundings the dates the codes not just saying wow i got a cuda you got to know all these intricate differences if you're going to put one together the exact way the factory did that's how you would know if this car was built before or after january 1st because it had the plate and the holes in the floor so that's lovely so the guys just finished putting the driver's side exhaust manifold on the car uh that means we're now ready for accurate exhaust to come up and install the rest of the system which is basically the pipes mufflers and resonators we went well tonight and for that reason and only for that reason i'm kind of optimistic we may still make our deadline of a week um if things just keep clicking we might do it a little bit of room there he's saying a couple of fingers his fingers just like one of my fingers tell me when to turn it there i'd insure it for every penny of 120 grand okay got her nice there it is there's all of our jewelry my name is tom swope and i'm the president of accurate exhaust products ltd all we do is mopars we make factory correct uh exhaust systems that a person can put on his car in an hour or two and uh that's been our business comes like this unless of course you have you're ordering an h-pipe my name is jamie hensley and i work with tom my dad at accurate exhaust products mark called him a few weeks ago about the 71 cuda and i overheard my dad talking about the uniqueness about it it appeared to be an early 71. the exhaust system is all the same as 71.72 except a different hanger is is applied to this car as the 1970s so we put it together so i thought hey i'm going to come up and see if i can learn something too while they bolt up the system seeing the system completely laid out from head pipe to tailpipe on the table the exact same way it's going to go in the car really gives you a sense of how accurate no pun intended this system is see these have this little washer on here this little provision that makes that a one-person job knows how i didn't say a one-man job one person's job and it keeps the top bolt from spinning and are we loose nice okay roll up acurate exhaust has built many exhaust systems based on the factory systems they not only appear the way the factory ones did but they also sound and perform the exact same way the factory one did by the time you're done putting the system in with the pipes the resonators the mufflers the hangers and the tips to duplicate exactly what chrysler did in 1971 [Music] okay this is what's important is that anti-sway bar on this car you were saying earlier the aftermarket sway bars people put on the real thick ones they'll have a little bit of uh interference okay if that one will go up a little will be good so right now we're just doing the final fit before we tighten down all the clamps uh you just want to make sure that the pipe's exactly where it's supposed to be forward and backwards so that's in the optimum position and it's not hitting anything you have to go through kind of rattle the exhaust and make sure it's not clanking against the bottom of the car somewhere so what you want is some clearance between the brake line because it can get hot with the exhaust coming by it so you want to have a little bit of room there he's saying a couple of fingers his fingers just like one of my fingers and then down here where the sway bar is you want to make sure you also have good clearance because the car will roll a flex when it goes through a corner so you're saying you snug everything down align your tips put everything together but after you've ran it for a little bit half an hour diving up and down the rope come bring it right back in and suck everything down because you'll see your tips will do this yeah yep until i had it something's wrong the things moved and reflexed okay so yeah putting the whole system together is pretty fast taking a little extra time and dialing it in that's i'm glad tom came on i gotta i cheat a little occasionally this is the easiest exhaust system that i haven't installed mark and tom and his daughter just really made light work of it i'm really happy we got the exhaust system in it's beautiful system it's going to function the way it's supposed to it looks the way it's supposed to i can't wait to fire the engine up and hear the rumble through the tips love those tips i'm not celebrating yet nobody's breaking open the champagne there's a lot of work left on that car to do and just very little time to do it what i want to do is i want to get the valance on it get those tips where they belong in the opening and then tighten everything down because if you suck it down now you may have to move it all again later to get it to fit perfectly in the opening of the valance it's just yeah you just want why isn't that plugged in these exhaust tips are just one of the coolest things ever it was a bold move i think on chrysler's part to take this huge rear valance panel punch a couple of holes in it and stick these beautiful chrome tips out through it it was a good move and it's one of my favorite characteristics of the chrysler muscle cars yeah good yeah it looks good man we just got the last few pieces locked down uh exhaust tips are in place and align through the rear valance we're going to let it down now and roll it into the assembly room and get started on it let's not worry about showing off [Music] whoa it's all wow it's all good tell me when to turn it there [Music] close enough hang on keep it cranked okay right there [Music] i've seen it too really yeah online yeah crazy no joke i gotta find that i gotta look that up you ready hey bozo yeah no no new beginning new beginning guess what i'm getting ready to order what a car oh a new billboard for the right hand side of the cuda let's go to work thanks royale oh sure today we have a pretty full plate on the 71 cuda i've got to get the passenger's door off of it out to the body shop fix the chip put it back on the car the guys have about a dozen or more little pieces they can put in and then i have about three or four things underneath the car that need to go in so it's going to be a rock and roll day why don't you put the antenna on it and i'll have royal give me a hand with the door i'd go through the door well i want somebody that can lift something more than two pounds i eat lift the holder i lift part of it let's get the mirror off it right um and you get the mirror off of it josh we need to install the battery tray we have a deadline that we have to reach in one week and the way things are going i'm hoping that we can get it all done the linkage is hooked up but i can unhook it if i can just get a 7 16. i'll get it for you what time did it take you to even read 760 i'll just grab it i'm still pretty pissed off over the door deal it didn't need to happen and when it did happen if somebody would have just said it the very first day it happened we wouldn't be doing this last minute 100 mile an hour rush to get it done it's just extra work that needs to be done on the door that we could use working on other stuff on the car uh what do you do about getting the decal off mark uh heat yep i'll use a heat gun on it are we going to have to take the fender is going to be smart if we take the fender a little forward there's no door and i'm gonna say no i'm gonna say it's aligned and we're okay we're gonna be okay putting it back on you could take the fender off except that the whole front sheet metal is already aligned i don't want to take all that back off if i can be very careful and just take the door away from that and put it back on without damaging it it can be done i'm just worried about the edge of the door and the edge of the you know the back edge of the fender if i only have to fix the one chip on the door i can get a pen today is that it are we clear okay i'm gonna open up he said we were clear buddy oh wait i got one more on the bottom oh my kind of got a timeline going i think if we're careful and take some a few extra minutes to be a little careful it'll go on okay open the door right now all right [Applause] are you really gonna work on it now yeah i'm really gonna work on getting guns i'm gonna get you guys going on that you're in here way over your pay grade no it's not mark you know what that's something you talk about maybe teaching us a little bit of painting sometimes yeah it's like how am i going to teach rembrandt how to paint how am i going to teach that michelangelo who painted the 16th chapel it'll actually be nice that mark's out there in the shop working on the door while we're in here working on the rest of the car it'll be peaceful we'll probably get a lot of work done and there won't be a lot of bickering back and forth so the fact that this door was done perfectly by me three months ago you can't just put a small patch you have to treat this like it's a brand new panel that means i have to take off the old billboard stripe i have to disassemble the door and treat it just like a brand new door first thing i have to do is get that off of there then sand that and start doing fill work on so to take these decals off the best way to do it is to get them nice and warm so it'll release that glue underneath it this is going to be a hard one because all these letters are individual if you take that heat gun and you get too close you'll keep cutting the tape fixing damage that happened to a brand new paint job especially like this car a concourse oe paint job is not a used car patch up you have to make sure that you fix it correctly so that there's no sign that you were ever there after the car was originally painted i can start feathering this back so i like to cross block it just like i was showing the guys on mark and elena's car i have to lay out my tape lines and establish my center style line i stand up to it on the left side i reverse the tape i stand up to it on the right hand side and i'm now ready for the filler done and done this is probably if there is an artistic part besides painting is probably in making sure that style lines are back where they're supposed to be once i mix up my polyester filler i can fix the low spots in it but it has to have the same height the same length as the rest of the shape of the door so that when i sand it down it's indetectable that there was ever a chip there you can see how it starts to taper down back here and i've got it built up higher than i needed out here then it's ready for the primer the base coat the clear coat the final wet sand and reassembly all i have to do after that is sand it down a primer hopefully there's absolutely no evidence that we were ever there i need to know how it's supposed to look and make sure that the car looks that way what mark didn't know won't hurt us let me make sure okay i got your file in the back office i think one second one second so i just got a phone call from the owner of the 69 and a half super b uh asking me if i had finished the validation i told him i would do six months earlier i'll stop what i'm doing right now and i'll go out um i'll just do what we were talking about which is a a validation when i validate a car basically what i'm doing is i'm doing a visual inspection of the car from the very front bumper to the back bumper i'm looking for things that are inconsistent with what the car is versus what it should be if i do happen to find a discrepancy i'll write it down and report back to the owner accordingly you'll hear back from me shortly hey thanks for calling dude okay bye look i got a call from the guy with the super bee this is something i just have to do i've put it off as long as i can so that means i'm gonna have to trust that the guys will stay on topic stay focused and get the things done i asked them to inside i'll be outside and let me know if you need anything i may very well need something hey if we can find you a little while we'll come up get the cat covered yet yeah patty josh why did you leave me over here doing this so basically i'm doing a kind of a rudimentary inspection of the car in this particular case you got an owner who needs to up his insurance policy needs to make sure that the provision is there needs some kind of documentation from obviously the master of the mopars i'm going to do some basic checking out to make sure it's a real 1969 and a half 446-pack four-speed 410 dana super track pack super b my very most favorite part of my entire job is doing the validations on these cars i get paid to spend half a morning hanging out with one of the coolest cars god ever made usually it's a little bit bare down on the bottom like this is a little transparent there's an original bolt see a lot of people paint these bolts that hold these stiffener brackets now this stiffener bracket got turned out of the way but that's the stiffener bracket that goes over to the bumper mounting brackets people make the mistake because they don't know any better of painting that bolt body color no it was done after the car was painted again originality i'm talking about a 446-pack car i need to know how it's supposed to look and make sure that the car looks that way hey look at this josh oh please tell me it's a good thing oh yeah oh nice okay that is a date coated vent glass has the original ppg logo here the chrysler logo here the date code here and the tint or no tent down there in the corner that's an original date coated piece of glass in an original paint door you can't fake that that's real here's our factory super b which is really cool i've got an original bumblebee stripe on a 69 and a half a 12 car it's a very very rare situation i document it whether it's forward or backwards of the factory because they were human beings putting them on so the factory may have said i want one inch reveal on this side and one inch reveal on that side but it's a human being doing it so when he did this car he's got an inch and a quarter over here and three quarters of an inch of reveal over here i duplicate that i want this car to look exactly the way it looked when it rolled off the assembly line not every a12 car when it rolled off the assembly line i don't know the lack of thinner is oh let's look at the door how it turned out [Music] i thought they took a dent out of it gee mini i have to get some new bodybuilding and painters around here mark weren't the one who did it i can't really tell i'm just joking okay top half of the door got painted black bottom part of the door got painted black everything from the weather strip in got painted black weather strip dividing line right here green when you pull that back i'm not out there to see but is there a line in there where green meets black that's a factory two-tone line on the door original i am so positive it's an original car that i don't need to dissect the car to prove that there's so much evidence here of it it's overwhelming we got a wm 23 m as in michael that means it's a modified engine application all 69 dodge super beasts started life as a 383 that was the minimum factory engine that came in a super b the car was destined to be one of the 69 and a half m code spring cars like this one is then they changed the callout that would have been for the 383 magnum and they made an m for modified then you got nine which is the year and a which is lynch road they were all built at lynch road when the car first showed up here i took the intake manifold and the carburetors that are in the back seat out and check the numbers on them because they have date codes on them and they have part numbers on them they are exactly correct and original for the 69.5 a12 cars relative to the date and the part number you can't fake that but i believe that these started life on this car also the center carburetor is different between an automatic and a four-speed that one's a four-speed the car's a four-speed here josh we have a huge little something you see this antennae assembly here right [Music] now this would not work on an aar cuda for what reason either this has to have a longer lead or else i have to give us a totally different one because aar the antenna's back here buddy ah that's right you know it's the same on the ta too right and why is the antenna on the back grasshopper because of the hood why it's uh fiberglass okay what does that have to do with more aerodynamics because the radio interference that's right okay there's the antenna back here i remember that you've got radio interference yeah okay get it we'll have to find the tool later it's like a cheese grater on my hand okay okay [Music] [Music] so [Music] it's five o'clock yeah i gotta go dude okay i gotta go pick up them's all right royal gosh see you in the morning man teach your potatoes french fries potatoes and french fries you know it's an e-body roll but go ahead and look at it don't get jealous come to the conclusion that man needs a psychiatrist be careful that it's worth more than your car as far as the undercarriage goes this has the original 4.10 dana rear axle and the original leaf springs if you look here you can count the number of leaf springs starting up here at the front one two three four five six six leaf springs on the left hand side one two three four five six leaf springs on the right hand side that is an original what they call a super track pack rear axle assembly there are other things on here that show its original these are the original nuts with the original washers that hold the shocks on i don't know why somebody's loosened those shocks but maybe for transporting purposes you'll notice that this is the original exhaust tip great looking tip original clamp still in place original hangers which are always gone because people got to change things they can't just leave well enough alone hold a second does it go in we why don't we put some tape on this before it gets thrashed hey guys yeah what's up what are you guys doing i'm working on you get this one all right you're hitting that on the 71 fantastic cuda it's been a little slow at the office so i decided to come over to the shop to see what the guys are doing why do they call it a phantasm kuda because it's fantastic no because they were making us an homage basically uh making it look like another car that was in the movie phantasm they said that it was the phantasm cuda i'd never heard of that before so i asked him about it the 71 cuda in the phantasm movie is a black 71 ah just like this one you noticed in that movie i haven't i haven't is it good yeah mark's got it in there we can watch it here let that go are we supposed to work i think it's in his office royal says that mark has it in his office and so he went to go grab it we're gonna watch it in the lobby get some popcorn rock stars make an afternoon of it mark's not going to be mad right no it won't hurt him but mark didn't know what her dose i'm excited to see the movie and to see the phantasm cuda here we go phantasm the delusion of a disordered mind a phantom right up your alley a ghost uh one last thing back here is i look at the condition of this this is amazing other than needing detail this is the rear finish panel that is always always beat to death that is an original panel that would probably fetch a ton of money on ebay in a condition like that moving around to the passenger side the truth is this car without the damage on the right hand side of it could have been a survivor car survivor cars are very rare it's only going to be original one time it's only going to have that original factory paint on it that i've been talking about one time in this case his dad was drag racing the car i understand and got in a wreck that's what caved in the right fender the right door and the right quarter panel so with all that damage down the right hand side that's what made me decide yeah let's go ahead we'll document the heck out of the fact that it's original but let's go ahead and restore the car for him so we'll be putting a small section in down here and the rest of this will be repairing and metal finishing we have two really good metal finish guys and then we'll reshape the quarterback to the factory appearance this damage up here is very repairable if the door was off of the car pull this out pull all the dents out metal finish it off and we'd also have a good factory original door rocker panel got unscathed it's really nice shape doesn't hardly need anything the right fender is probably the worst panel on the car when it comes to the condition of the fender it's pretty bad shape i mean i know we could fix it the real question is should we fix it or should we try to find a better fender for it once we get the cart completely stripped and we rough it out because i will always try we'll rough out the fender we'll reshape it and if i feel like we can repair it with just metal or very little filler then that's what we'll do if it took a lot of filler on it i would feel better about a car that's this nice uh just finding a really beautiful cherry original oem fender i like to be 110 so i'm gonna take the hood off of the car look underneath there for the ear marks that make this an a12 car then i can get back inside and call the owner and get my paperwork done oh let's find a house yeah yeah i'm gonna go visit somebody uh in the kitchen oh sure buddy yeah you got little bowls or something huh i couldn't find any back there i don't know what was in this before but it smelled good look at there yeah that's nice there it is you know it's an e-body roll but go ahead look at it don't get jealous that's cool what's going on pretty high fog lights which is an option 71. oh look at that royal pistol no tips no tips [Music] you got crackers on it [Music] look at this blob of seam sealer the lack of quality people make things so perfect they weren't that perfect at the factory there's a big blob that has no reason to be there here's something interesting take a look at the runs in the paint that's factory runs you'd never see that here this has the original motor in it um this car is as close to a survivor as you could ask for the original 2949054 radiator very rare radiator i saw these trading hands for two thousand dollars five years ago just for a radiator original fan shroud everything underneath the hood of this car looks 100 factory original in the 69 and a half road runners that were also a 446 barrel carburetor they would have called out 446 barrel right here because that's how plymouth referred to their multi-carbureted systems but this is a real live six-pack that's original lettering beautiful i wouldn't even touch that hood like i say i would almost say the car's worthy of being a survivor if it hadn't been damaged on the right hand side i wanted to double check everything front to back so i could give him with my hand on my heart this is real i checked it go get it insured i'd insure it for every penny of 120 grand because you couldn't replace it i just finished validating the 69.5 m code super b i walked into the assembly room to check out the guys and see what the progress was see if they needed any help there was no guys there was no progress instead i heard murmuring coming from the very front office i walk up there and here's my two guys with holly watching a movie stuffing their fat faces with popcorn she always is busy there's something else busy i'm really scared about something what are you doing something really scary what are you doing why are you trying to contaminate my only employee i've got that's capable of doing a good job she hasn't seen the movie she didn't understand about the car we're trying to educate her still got to put the car together guess what it was her idea put the car together put the car together i doubt very much she says hey i should stop you guys from working on the car that's exactly what she said that's what she said exactly it was okay it's fine if that was the case but that's not the case it was not the case my favorite car movie horror movie of all time is phantasm everybody that knows me knows that's true i remember the very first time that i had seen it pulling up to the cantina with the parking lights on and had the cool flares in the rear quarters and the craters and the windows were all smoked out i mean the car was just sitting there looking wicked one of my favorite scenes and i remember questioning my cousin because he loved the movie too is when they are in chase with the hearse the bigger brother the older brother jumps up out through the sunroof and is shooting at the hearse and i always thought is that summer factory that summer factory and then i read in some mopar magazines that no it wasn't a factory sunroof car that the director had added the sunroof to it but all those things just they they make an impression on you and they make you uh they force you to fall in love with certain things certain cars that's what happens in that case it's movies like that cult classic movies like that that bring certain cars just to the forefront of collectibility like this car right here that's a vanishing point challenger made famous by the 1971 movie vanishing point he's got that movie so today yeah we're too close to the finish line right now to really be taking breaks we need to just stay focused get this thing done and under our belt it'll be easier to look back once we've succeeded and say what a great job we did then look back and realize that we failed yeah work to do it won't get done it always gets done yeah it always gets done late trouble as usual bring the popcorn with you don't leave a mess i'll get that thanks holly we don't have time for that right now okay we don't have time for movies we want to talk about we got to get the car done do we got that dude we need to break once let's just go through the list here where we at don costarelli but how would i know if you're doing an impersonation i'm really feeling good we might just make our deadline nobody i'm trying to make it better not better hope i don't rip this new boot so far today uh darren and i are hot on the car no royal no josh i understand josh couldn't get out of work which i think is bs because he could get out some probation or everything which makes no sense to me at all royal has a real job uh he was going to try to be out of there by 11 o'clock but we're way past that and he's not here yet so we'll just keep burning we're doing fine okay we got our legendary seat divider most people don't put these in i do so much for the new boot come on if you ruined that that's coming out of your check then i don't get a chance i pulled a thousand of them off and never did it rip no then why are you saying that saying what wow see us check yourself in somewhere seriously yeah i needed help ripping that bag open so thank you it was just really starting to get tough right there find out which side phases out okay okay put the insulation on the opposite side okay we have insulation dude right up there right there okay right there sparky this is a rear um seat divider basically separates the passenger compartment from the trunk what just stops a little bit of noise and stuff i guess i like the legendaries carpeting it's always the correct loop it's the correct material it's the correct fit but it does come wadded up in a box and originally they were heat molded to a floor pan so when they get wadded up in a box right after that and it comes out here then we got to get it out get it laying in place kind of like interaction and let it start getting this new memory nice got a workbench or something to work on no no that's too much to ask isn't it we're surrounded by moduline cabinets aluminum cabinets from one end to the other there's probably 55 or 60 lineal feet of cabinet and we can't work on any of it look at it it's just full of junk everywhere he'll tear something apart and leave it there and say well i need more counter space clean up your mess there's funny there come to the conclusion that man needs a psychiatrist [Music] [Music] just let that get some memory going to it the warmer it gets in here the better that'll be can you put the mir the horns oh we were gonna glue that down oh yeah you can do that why don't i do that that requires a little bit more things a little bit of brains right yeah stupid right now do you remember where your horns are yeah they're over there put them on logo's on the bottom [Music] okay boom boom boom boom [Music] that cool or what why don't you put the referral weather strips in your mind are you done with these yeah i can tell you're done because you just left the light jack knifed in there fingerprints all over the place that's how i know you were done taking pictures of it still yep i got it you got me good old royal took the spray glue and ran off he just leaves stuff wherever he goes and then he blames everybody else for it [Music] the king of leave and stuff wherever he falls exactly how he left it last night exactly normally i come in and i pick all that stuff up but not not today i also need that hood pop-up spring now what i'm glad you could make it how's your morning i'm half as glad as i am mark do you know who would have left all those tools and and stuff there just the tools and the tools were inside on the uh oh they were yeah did you take them out i got the carpet i got to call the police no they weren't in there they were always there i'd say that's all right yeah you're crapping out loud rascal together huh i just got here mark's already pissed it's just a gift i have i guess i don't know while darren and i are setting up the headlights and the headlight buckets uh in preparation for the grill to go in royal's inside doing the final adjustments on the quarter glass and door glass we've got the carpeting in we have the trunk area all buttoned up all our side markers are in i'm really feeling good we might just make our deadline i need to get that door hung on there oh yeah let's put some protective tape on it yeah put some protection on it and so royal and i'll carry the door in because you're everything the bolts that you need to man from that end everything there's the machine to do it with and the bolts and then i got the two in there that i have to put in okay now kick everything across the floor and say it was gone when we got here because that would be cool take a look at that sheet oh glass that's pretty man the front chip that was there right here completely gone no evidence it was ever there the style line is where it belongs the the height is where it belongs everything even to you you admit that's good isn't it okay all right let's do it right now get her done come on poop who are you talking to me calling you poop boy another good battery another low battery you go backwards no sir you go back there sir i go this way sir we come around this way sir lift up the back edge there [Music] well you know mark always says be careful that it's worth more in your life yeah just be careful that it's worth more than your car your whole car that grill is worth more than this he's worth more that whole car is if you can lamp fry okay stop right there [Music] has anybody done the i am not getting up and out again i'm tired of it royale gets pumped darren did you find the heater box for this car it turns out well never look we've got to put the heater box in before we put the dash in hate to be the bad there are bad tidings there but wellbeing how about the steering column nope oh sure um why are they putting do you wanna talk about long bolts and these crazy things hang on let's see if i can work this phone hey this looks ridiculous about it if somebody wants to talk about this car i don't know it sounded like laser but okay so after i got the door back on and i'm doing the final alignments royal runs out front and answers the phone comes back and tells me that the owner of the car's on the line look i just talked to him like three days ago i just told him i get it down i get it done he just calls them all the torches and torches there's nothing left they beat you down till you jump out of third floor window and then they walk by the corpse with a chalk out lying on the ground so what was his problem he seemed so happy you're my problem i'll tell you one thing you better be calling to tell me i can have more time because it's i go to answer the phone thinking it's the owner of the cuda to chew my ass out this mark instead it's some guy saying he's don cosgerelli wants to talk to me about the 71 kuden don koskarelli the guy who actually created phantasm the director how would how would i know if you're doing an impersonation of them so all of a sudden as i'm listening to this guy ramble on and thinking no it's it's a joke it kind of hits me this really is don coskarelli this is the director of phantasm this is the guy who i've been watching his movie since 1979. it's nice to meet you this is don coskarelli probably well we have to have it done by the end of the week this week this is don costarelli he had seen the picture that i posted on the facebook page for phantasm and found my phone number called me and wanted to talk about the car i don't want to sound like one of those geeky guys but it's pretty flattering he says he wants to come up here drive the car sign the inside of the trunk lid and then get some photos with everybody i i would love it i'd love to be any part of that that i can be and i would love to have you sign the car and and hang out for some pictures and the guys would be just crapping themselves this could really be a big break for us at graveyard cars meeting somebody like don coscarelli this is huge that's amazing thank you so much so it's honor i mean it i love your work all right all right talk to you soon this is a massive thing this leaves us no choice but to meet the deadline period end of story what buddy what what it wasn't laser who was it you'll never guess his son absolutely not two weeks ago i posted a picture of the phantasm cuda on the phantasm wall on facebook right is don coskerelli the director the guy that made all of them especially the very first one did it all by himself that was him you've got a director a world wide known director of a huge cult classic film like phantasm willing to come up sign our cars bring bring the star of the movie michael baldwin up hang out with us for a day get photos with us i mean this is a real opportunity for us to grow as a company and and in the genre of chrysler restoration muscle car technicians he is willing if they're coming up at the end of the week which is exactly when this car has to be done because the laser they're going to be up at the end of the week and they want to check out the car maybe even take it for a spin around the block and and sign the inside of the deck lid so we're not going to have any mistakes on this what is left to get it completely done we need to get that base plate underneath there and the carburetor on it so the shakers for real the front bumpers are ready to go on okay we need to finish plumbing out the engine compartment which i have all the parts out of my toolbox for you're almost done setting the glass on it i still have to put the billboard on the right hand side we need a trunk liner in the jack get the dash bolted in it get the windshield put in the front reveal moldings and the drip truck and we're done and we can do that in three days we are doing that in three days get out of here go on now well go get the carburetor i like a little ankle biter dogs you want somebody's chrome go get the carpet bash yourself around come on turn around guys we got work to do
