whenever weekly manga series receive an anime adaptation filler is practically inevitable the main reason for this is if the anime were to catch up with the manga there would be nothing left to adapt by itself that's not necessarily a bad thing I mean who doesn't want more content from one of their favorite series well the problem is there's not a whole lot that can happen in filler the anime will eventually resume adapting the manga and because the filler is well filler it is completely ignored by the manga and if the anime is to adhere to the manga Canon as most of them do it will ignore it as well resulting in most filler feeling like a massive waste of time this is why just about everyone hates filler and avoids it whenever possible but here's the thing filler doesn't have to be bad in Yu-Gi-Oh's waking the dragon's Arc is a perfect example of how filler can be just as good as the manga Canon and at times even better but before we get into that I'm going to ask you to leave a like on this video And subscribe for more anime analysis videos I've got more you video is coming soon so subscribe if you want to see that as I said before the purpose of filler is to Halt the progression of the main story and waking the dragons is no exception in that regard however waking the dragons is not a waste of time rather it serves as a sort of DLC that fills in some of the gaps in the rest of the anime IT addresses the issues that came as a result of season 0 not being adapted expands on some of the character Dynamics and the final Arc is built up in ways that lead to a much more satisfying conclusion let's start at the beginning in 1998 Yu-Gi-Oh received its first anime adaptation a lot of people still don't know about this because it only aired in Japan but Yu-Gi-Oh 1998 also known as season zero is the true beginning of the Yu-Gi-Oh storyline it adapted the first three arcs of the Yu-Gi-Oh manga and even though Konami likes to pretend that it never happened it is very much Canon to the Dual monsters anime but since the anime began about a year after season 0 ended they decided to skip the first three arcs of the manga and start with doula's Kingdom the manga's fourth Arc this is why the first episode is so strange it's meant to serve as a recap of the death T Arc which is the second Arc in the manga then the Monster World Arc which introduced pakora and is the third Arc in the manga is condensed into a single duelist Kingdom episode some of the other key events from season 0 are depicted in flashbacks later in the series and I know it sounds like a bad way to adapt the manga but it kinda had to be done this way and it's important to understand why Yu-Gi-Oh 1998 was still fresh in the minds of Yu-Gi-Oh fans in Japan so adapting the first three manga arcs in the same way would have been a bad idea nobody wants to watch the same thing twice in a row that would be like if berserk 2016 adapted the Golden Age Arc even though the Golden Age movies came out in 2013 but since Yu-Gi-Oh 1998 was never released outside of Japan certain elements of the Yu-Gi-Oh story were left underexplained for most of the Yu-Gi-Oh fandom namely the fact that Yami is a villain when Yuki solves the millennium puzzle in the first episode of season zero he awakens the spirit of an ancient game master now the spirit isn't just a gamer he's also a pharaoh of Egypt but because he has Amnesia he doesn't remember anything else at this point the series all he knows is that he was trapped in a puzzle until somebody solved it and whenever that person is in trouble he can take over the body until the problem is resolved for the most part this is beneficial to Yuki the Pharaoh is exceptionally talented at games and exudes confidence this enables him to maintain his cool and the most perilous of situations and as a result of the pharaoh's bravery as well as his intellectual prowess Yugi is able to make friends and establish a reputation in the gaming World however as the season progresses it becomes clear that this relationship between Yami and Yuki has some serious flaws and the downsides far outweigh the benefits Yugi's goal has always been to make friends through games in fact the opportunity to form strong bonds with other people is one of the reasons he enjoys gaming so much whether it's a friend you can count on or a rivalry that keep she motivated there's a lot more to playing games than just winning and losing but Yami is the polar opposite he doesn't care about any of that prior to the death T Arc which is depicted in dual Monsters episode 1 most of the games Yami played left his opponents with a permanent reminder of their failure to beat him from nightmarish hallucinations that never go away to body disfigurement that can't be disguised he certainly enjoys watching others suffer in defeat so what does any of this have to do with waking the dragons aside from a brief moment at the end of Yuki vs Kaiba in doula's Kingdom yami's dark side is not present in the Dual monsters anime and without season 0 this one moment feels completely random when I first watched this part I thought Yugi was crying because Kaiba played Dirty by standing on the ledge but after watching season zero I realized that Yuki was crying out of fear when Kaiba stepped on the ledge Yami tried to attack anyway because he doesn't care if Kaiba gets hurt he is a duel to win fast forward to the end of the series when Yugi and Yami go their separate ways it's finally brought up again but in a way that goes over your head in short Yugi says that all of his accomplishments belong to the Pharaoh since Yami did all the hard work in response to this Yami says you gave me the most important gift of all by teaching me kindness It's a great message and what he said is true but outside of that one moment in duelist Kingdom there is zero indication of Yami ever being a bad guy this is where waking the dragons comes in waking the dragons begins immediately following the conclusion of battle City Yugi has just defeated Merrick obtain all three of the Egyptian god cards and is now ready to learn the truth about yami's past but when Yuki tries to activate the tablet of lost memories it freezes becoming unusable then Yugi hears a commotion so he rushes outside when he reaches the exit he discovers that dual monsters have begun wreaking havoc on Domino City everyone assumes that because Kaiba Corp is responsible for the holographic technology known as solid Vision there must be a problem with the company's computer system but Kaiba claims that his company has nothing to do with it later that night Yugi's god cards are stolen from his home while chasing the thieves Yugi encounters gurimo a man who claims to be collecting The Souls of doulas by defeating them in duels gurumo challenges Yuki to a dual which he accepts believing it will be an easy victory since only wielders and Millennium items can use the god cards unbeknownst to Yugi gurimo possesses the Seal of oracalkos a special card that Rivals the power of the Egyptian gods a few turns into the duel gurimo activates the Seal of oracalkus and the game is changed completely Yugi detects danger so he attempts to break the seal with his millennium puzzle but it doesn't work gurima explains that once the Seal of oracalcos is activated neither doulas can leave the arena until the battle is over no running away and no outside interference he also claims that the seal cannot be broken and whoever loses the game loses their soul additionally the Seal of oracalcos is a field spell that boosts the attack points of the user's monsters and expands the monster zones to the spell and trap zones increasing the maximum amount of monsters that can be summoned from 5 to 10. after activating the card goodimo summons the stolen Obelisk the Tormentor and you get shocked to see this because in battle City when odion tried to use the winged dragon of raw he was punished severely because he wasn't a user of a millennium item but since the Seal of oracalgos prevents outside interference Guru is able to avoid the consequences of this action despite this disadvantage Yuki is able to win the duel but he fails to retrieve the god cards instead he finds a necklace belonging to gurumo and two cards containing the souls of Rex Raptor and Weevil Underwood the following night a gigantic yellow eye appears in the sky and at the same time Yugi and the Pharaoh are transported to the world of duel monsters where they are greeted by Dark Magician Girl there she tells them about the oracalko's God a creature bent on annihilating all life on Earth and how the assault has already begun but there is still hope she tells Yugi that if he is able to extract a sword from one of three dragon statues he will awaken a legendary power that once protected the Dual monsters World from the over calculus God together Yugi and Yami are able to raise the sword then they are transported back to their own world where they must confront the oracalko's god Yugi rushes outside to meet his friends upon reaching them the eye in the sky fires a massive blast at Yugi but Yugi is able to deflect it and destroy the eye with his newly acquired power the eye of tamias what Yugi doesn't realize is that the group of Duelists who stole his Egyptian god cards in the first episode are actually a secret organization called Doma and they are the ones responsible for the oracalkos God's Resurrection using the Seal of orcalco's card they've been Gathering The Souls of powerful Duelists in order to power up the oracalko's God now the group has many members but for the sake of this video we only need to consider four Imelda Raphael and valon who call themselves The Three Musketeers of Doma and finally darts the mysterious leader of the organization now that we've established the basic premise we can move on to Yugi's second encounter with Doma where things take an unexpected turn after his first encounter with the Three Musketeers Yuki meets with Arthur Hopkins an old friend of Grandpa Muto who has been researching the origins of Atlantis he tells Yugi that the stone in gurimo's necklace is similar to the gems he discovered while exploring underwater ruins later Professor Hopkins finds an engraving of the name Doma while decoding photos of deep sea ruins Hopkins is kidnapped shortly after and his house is set Ablaze the professor's daughter Rebecca finds a pre-recorded message filmed by Raphael demanding that Yugi meet him alone in the dead Valley when Yugi receives the message from her he braces himself for another life or death battle with a member of Doma Yugi and Yami head for dead Valley and when they arrive Yami demands that Professor Hopkins be released from captivity Raphael tells Yami that he has been released then Raphael destroys the bridge that Yama used to reach him and declares that all he wants is to face the Pharaoh as a true duelist Yami rejects Raphael by saying that a true duelist would never use dual monsters for evil Raphael responds that they simply have different perceptions of justice and that history will decide who is correct Yami says nothing in response and after a brief stare down they begin to duel following a strong start Raphael declares that his bond with his monsters is so strong that Yami cannot comprehend it frustrated Yami accuses Raphael of arrogance and claims that every monster is a servant to their duelist Masters Raphael ignores yami's insult and says that he actually pities the Pharaoh because he too was dealt a bad hand in life Raphael was celebrating his birthday aboard a cruise ship when the ship crashed separating him from his family the next thing he knew he was stranded on an island by himself for three years he attributes his survival to the Dual monsters cards he received as a gift in his final moments with his family because they gave him hope that someday he would be reunited with his family Raphael was eventually rescued but when he returned home he discovered that the only survival of the Shipwreck was himself not long after this he met darts and became a member of Doma Raphael believed that darts could help him understand the cruel fate that befell him when the door continues Yuki realizes that Raphael's strategy is simply to keep his own monsters from being sent to the graveyard whenever Yugi is about to destroy one Raphael activates a card that protects his Monsters by either paying life points or sacrificing cards from his hand this is what persuades Yugi that despite their opposing World Views Raphael is indeed a true duelist but he still doesn't understand why would a true duelist want to bring the world to an end Raphael then reveals that the world's destruction is only half of their plan doma's true goal is to reset human civilization because humans are always at odds with one another and the only way to end all suffering is to destroy the world itself at face value this is extremely cheesy and I hate it when villains seek to end the world in order to save Humanity from itself but for reasons we'll discuss later in the video it's actually not as bad as it seems Raphael activates exchange which forces each player to take one card from their opponent's hand because they each only have one card Raphael takes necromancy from Yami and Yami takes the Seal of oracalkos from Raphael then Raphael plays a card that prevents Yami from attacking with his monsters and another that drains yami's life points every turn with no options left Yami considers using the Seal of oracalkos Yugi tells him it's not worth it but Yami refuses to listen he declares this is my fight my Justice and my beliefs are on the line and then pulls out the forbidden card aside from Yami losing what makes this duel so important let's take a step back and assess the situation Yami is a duelist from ancient Egypt who suffers from Amnesia he has no recollection of his past and he has no idea why he was revived in the present Raphael is a duelist who is stranded on an island and when he was finally rescued he became stranded in a new world as you can see both characters are very similar the key difference here is that Raphael believes his problem will be solved through Doma so he duels in order to further the goals of his group Yami on the other hand duels because that's all that he can do in a way it's become his identity that's why he activated the Seal of oracalkos his entire self-worth is measured by his ability to play games losing the duel means losing his place and if he isn't the king of games then who is he obviously we learned more about him in the final Arc but up until now from the moment he was awakened by Yugi in the beginning of the series yami's sole purpose has been to win games for Yugi that's why even though there really wasn't anything on the line for this duel Yami felt more pressure than ever though it's never explicitly stated that Yami cares about winning at times it seems to be the only thing that matters to him at all and this is consistent with the season 0 arcs and the Kaiba battle in duelist Kingdom Yami chose victory in a game over kaiba's life thankfully anzu was there to stop him in doula's Kingdom and mokabo is there to stop him in death tee but this time since Raphael could relate to Yami he knew that keeping yami's friends away would help secure the victory another great thing about this duel is that it leaves no excuses for yami's Behavior You could argue that in the Duelist Kingdom battle with Kaiba Yami was doing what needed to be done in order to rescue Yugi's Grandpa and Kaiba was playing Dirty by standing on the ledge but when Yami lost Raphael it was entirely his own fault Raphael didn't cheat he wasn't holding anybody hostage he didn't even use the Seal of oracalco's car Yami had nothing to lose until he himself activated the Seal of oracalkos and not only is this the first time Yami lost to somebody who wasn't cheating it also occurred at a time when the stakes could not be higher remember when the Seal of oracalcos is activated the loser of the duel loses their soul and right before the duel ended Yugi switched places with Yami that means Yu-Gi-Oh's main character Yugi the one who freed Yami from the puzzle lost his soul and he's gone for most of the arc as a result of this so not only did Yami lose to Raphael Yugi lost to Yami that's why it's such a powerful moment and I can't think of a better Catalyst for Yami to finally change his ways we just spent a lot of time talking about Yugi and Yami but believe it or not we're waking the dragons really begins to shine is in its depiction of The Supporting Cast but real quick before important and all but my favorite aspect of waking the dragons is the way it utilizes The Supporting Cast in the Millennium World Arc which follows battle City and the manga Canon and concludes the series yami's past is the sole Focus practically everyone else is there but most of the characters play a minor role in The Arc and as a result the finale left us with quite a few unanswered questions regarding these other characters and waking the dragons provides us with plenty of answers let's start with Kaiba when the Dual monsters Holograms started acting up Kaiba shut down the solid Vision system to try and stop it nothing changed so Kaiba held a press conference in order to clear his company of any blame but since the real cause of the Holograms is still unknown kaiba's explanation did very little to quell the media naturally this put him in a terrible mood Kaiba and mokaba have been working diligently on creating a theme park but now things have to be put on hold until the situation has been resolved to make matters worse somebody has started buying Kaiba Corp stocks at an unprecedented rate as soon as cabinet notices he receives a video call from Pegasus Kaiba answers and Pegasus claims that he's the one who has been buying the stock and he's been doing it to get kaiba's attention then he invites Kaiba to come duel him on duelist Kingdom Island kyber rejects the offer but just before he hangs up the call Pegasus threatens to sell the stock all at once which would cause the price of the stock to plummet and ruin the company Kaiba begrudgingly accepts The Challenge and ends the call then he retrieves his cards from a safe and heads for duelist Kingdom with mokuba when they arrive Kaiba accuses Pegasus of causing the Hologram incident but he denies it and says that it's actually kaiba's fault Kaiba asks what he means by this but Pegasus says that the only way to find out is to beat him in a duel as the duel begins Kaiba overhears Pegasus say I've been dreaming of this day kaibe is confused by this because he's already faced Pegasus and lost but he doesn't say anything after a few turns Kaiba accuses Pegasus of being an imposter he claims that the real pegasus wouldn't play the exact same strategy against somebody he's already faced Pegasus admits to being an imposter and reveals to Kaiba that his true identity is Imelda one of the Three Musketeers of Doma then he activates the Seal of oracalcos and the true duel begins Kaiba asksa Melda if he is the one responsible for the Holograms Imelda brushes off the question and accuses Kaiba of killing his younger brother naturally Kaiba is taken aback by this Imelda is from a war-torn country he and his brother Mirko were separated from their parents at a young age day after day they would travel between abandoned buildings in search of them eventually they were rescued by some soldiers and brought to a camp however the piece did not last long as they were soon attacked Imelda would be separated from his brother while fleeing and his brother would be caught in an explosion since both sides of the conflict received weapons from Kaiba corporation which was a weapons manufacturer before Kaiba took over Imelda was led to believe that the evil Corporation was pitting both sides against each other after hearing this mokoba tries to explain the difference between Kaiba Corp under his father and Kaiba Corp under his brother then he informs Imelda of their plan to construct theme parks around the world Imelda doesn't care he claims that the only reason they're able to build theme parks is because they made so much money by destroying peace in other countries unlike mokaba Kaiba accepts the sins of his father and demands that the duel continued a few turns pass and Kaiba finds himself on the losing side of the duel but just before he draws his final card he is suddenly transported to the world of dual monsters where Yugi found the three legendary dragons kaiba's first instinct is to remove a sword from one of the dragon statues upon doing so he is transported back to the duel with Imelda and he draws the Fang of critius Kaiba activates the card and attacks amelda for game however Imelda has a trap card that causes the duel to end in a draw since neither player lost the duel nobody loses their soul and both players make their exit later Joey calls Kaaba to ask for help with Transportation but he unintentionally reveals that Yugi lost his soul to a member of Doma Kaiba becomes in raged and hangs up the phone he can't believe that somebody other than himself was the first to beat Eugene Abdul but then he smiles broadly because he now has a new reason to duel when Kaiba meets Imelda for the second time Imelda reveals that his plan is to destroy the world so that he can rebuild it without weapons Kaiba dismisses him as a loser and points out that resetting the world will not compensate for his failure to protect his brother and then he wins The Duel now let's break this down at a glance bringing back Pegasus was completely unnecessary it felt like pointless pandering to the fans Imelda didn't need to disguise himself at all in order to lure Kaiba into a duel since he bought so much stock in kyber corporation however bringing back Pegasus was important for a couple of reasons am I the only one who found it odd that a character as vindictive as Kaiba never wanted a rematch with Pegasus after Kaiba beat Yugi in the Duelist Kingdom Arc he moved on to face Pegasus and lost it was terrible for him too because at the time Pegasus was attempting a takeover of Kaiba Corporation and he had just kidnapped him eventually Pegasus was defeated by Yugi and Kaiba wanted to host the battle city tournament then after Yugi wins the tournament we moved to the Millennium World Arc and wait a minute what happened to Pegasus the entire point of the battle city tournament was for Kaiba to obtain the god cards and defeat Yogi in a duel if kaib is willing to go that far to avenge his loss to Yugi in the first episode why doesn't he care about beating the other guy who holds a win over him Pegasus well in the Manga version of the story Pegasus actually died at the end of doula's Kingdom the only reason he lived in the anime version was to avoid depicting his death so rather than kill him off they suddenly rushed him to a hospital the change is understandable and it doesn't seem like a big deal at first but after battle City it appears that Kaiba completely forgot about Pegasus and that doesn't really make sense considering the type of character that Kaiba is which is why bringing him back was so important additionally the fact that Kaiba didn't jump at the chance to face Pegasus in a rematch demonstrated how much he's matured as a person after losing to Yugi at the end of battle City Kaiba abandoned his Vengeance and promised not to duel again until he finished the kaibalan project with mokuba that's why his cards were locked in an underground safe and given what Pegasus did to Kaiba earlier in the series who better to force him out of his retirement of course it turned out that Pegasus was actually a Melda in Disguise but the point is proven even further when Kaiba is accused of doing terrible things through Kaiba Corporation not once did he try to deflect the blame obviously it's not kaiba's fault that the company was making weapons before he took over but he knew that words could not change imelda's mind after all he could very well relate to Imelda situation failing to protect his brother becoming consumed by revenge and falling short when he's needed the most kaiba's been there that's why in the second duel Kaiba called Imelda a loser he knew that in order to change imelda's mind he needed to show him that Revenge will lead you nowhere Kaiba learned this for himself during the battle City Arc which is why he temporarily retired from playing duel monsters he's finally applying Yuki's advice about friendship by pursuing a new passion one that he shares with other people this is of course the worldwide kaibalan project a plan devised by mokaba and himself with the goal of bringing theme parks to kids all across the world it's a little cheesy but kaibe is finally doing something for reasons outside of himself and this change in kaiba's personality was hinted at throughout the series several times the biggest example I can give is when Kaiba witnessed as Joey Broke Free of the Mind Control that was caused by Merrick's Millennium item but we never got to see see this change in action until now oh and speaking of Joey that brings me to the next subject when kyber received a call from Imelda pretending to be Pegasus Yugi's group received a message from the real pegasus in it he claims to know what's causing the Hologram attacks and asks for Yugi to meet him at industrial Illusions once they arrived the doors lock behind them and they are confronted by Mai who was wearing a new Duel Disk she reveals that she joined Doma as a last resort to become the number one duelist she tells them that she has already beaten Pegasus in a duel and taken his soul but that's not enough so she challenges Joey he refuses to duel her because he believes that she's being manipulated by Doma but it doesn't matter because she activates the Seal of oracalcos in order to trap him in a duel that's kind of cheating but Joey's refusal only serves to anger Mai so she tells him about what she's been up to since they last saw each other she talks about how she went on to win tournaments by herself but the victories were all overshadowed by Yugi and Joey after a win people would talk about how she's good but she didn't make it as far into battle City as Yugi and Joey so they must be really good this drove my into isolation but as she became more isolated the more she was haunted by her encounter was Merrick one night after another successful tournament run Mai continued to lament she keeps winning but none of it feels meaningful and she can't figure out why then she's approached by valon one of the Three Musketeers of Doma he challenges her to a duel when he wins my calls for Joey just as she did in her nightmare valon tells her that she's unhappy because she's too dependent on others then he invites her to join Doma and since Joey is the one she calls for in times of trouble he convinces her that defeating him is what will set her free Joey plays a stall strategy until he figures out how to end the duel safely but it's no good mai is able to overwhelm Joey's defenses so he decides that he'll try to end the duel in a draw but just before he draws his final card he is transported to the world of duel monsters where the final dragon statue awaits Yami is taken there too and he tells Joey to pull the sword out of the statue after he successfully pulls out the sword he is transported back to his duel where he draws the claw of Hermos he's able to use the card to turn things around but just before his final turn valon interferes apparently the oracalco stone can be used to break the oracalco seal but it is very dangerous Vellum breaks the seal and then he and mine disappear surprisingly Joey is upset he really thought that he was going to free mine from doma's control towards the end of the arc Joey finally meets valon face to face he confronts him about Mai even though Mai clearly stated that she wasn't being controlled by anyone Joey is in denial Valen claims that Joey is the source of mice pain and that he'll defeat Joey in order to save her they duel and Joey wins but he takes a lot of physical damage in the process then Mai who was watching from the sidelines emerges and challenges Joey to a rematch Joey is exhausted but he accepts because he still wants to help Mai just like last time Joey plays defensively because he doesn't actually want to win he just wants to talk to her he reminds her about all the good times they had together and asks why she keeps running away she doesn't say much in response Joey tries to go for a draw again but this time it backfires and he loses all of his monsters but just as Mai is about to finish Joey Smiles at her and says you win before falling over my runs to catch him but it's too late the circle starts closing because the duel is over with his last breath Joey apologizes for not being able to save her then in true duelist fashion he says that the duel was fun after Joey faints My Cries and says that she knew all along winning wasn't the answer to her problems this Arc certainly had a lot more to do with Mai but Joey's growth from the Battle City Arc was still on full display the whole reason for Mai's involvement in this Arc is based on the fact that Joey inadvertently overshadowed her career but it goes beyond that have you noticed that out of each of the first encounters with the Three Musketeers of Doma Joey performed the best there was no cheating in any of these duels all three of the main characters had access to a legendary dragon card and Joya was the only one to win on his first attempt Kaiba got a draw Yugi and Yami flat out lost without any hint of a disadvantage and then Joey won the only reason he lost the mind the end was because he needed to stall The Duel so he could talk to her about her problems and maybe I should have expected this but it's a filler Arc and since Joey is the least popular of the three main characters they could have easily just made Joey that guy who loses first and then motivates Yugi to win now let's talk about Mai when Maya is first introduced in duelist Kingdom we're led to believe that she's just like Kaiba her goal is to be the best and she doesn't let people get close to her because friendship will make her weak but later in the arc it becomes clear that she's putting up a front when Yuki loses all of his key chips to Kaiba Mai takes pitting on him and helps Yugi out then in battle City when Joy recounts a dream that he had about being at school with his friends Mai asks if she was there Joey lies and says no and it seems like not a big deal at first but for my that was her sign to leave she might have been planning to leave anyway but given what we know about her I think she was looking for a reason to stay with Joey and the others why else would she ask that question then in waking the dragons Mai says she was trying to acquire for herself what Joey got in battle City she clarifies that she wants to become unbeatable the problem is she completely misinterpreted Joey's method of becoming a true duelist I've already talked about Joey's journey to becoming a true duelist in a separate video so I won't go too in depth here basically after Joey got his red ice card stolen from him he distanced himself from Yugi until they both made it to the finals of the tournament Mai took that to mean that if Joey was able to become so much better by going off on his own she needed to do the same but my one about it in the wrong way Joey spent most of his life alone and when he met Yuki he became overly dependent on him once he realized this it went his separate way but he didn't completely sever ties with Yugi in fact Joey's reason for wanting to be stronger had little to do with winning at all because his goal was to be a better friend he didn't want to be a burden anymore Maya on the other hand was trying to become stronger so that she could rationalize being alone the complete opposite of Joey and when she finally has her chance to beat Joey she gives in to her true emotions and tries to save him earlier in the duel Joey told Mai that she wouldn't solve her problem just by winning ironically when Mai finally defeated Joey was the exact moment that she was cured but not because she was victorious in the duel upon winning Mai realized that she needed Joey and What attracted her to him was his passion both as a competitor and as a person wow I didn't expect this video to be so long if you made it this far let me know if you prefer longer videos or if I should go back to making shorter ones I'm going to take a break real quick but don't go anywhere miruya is going to tell you about darts with kaiben defaro advancing to The Final Duel of the we start to learn who and what the driving force of recent events is we enter the story of studs the founder of Doma enemy of the Legendary Dragons former king of Atlantis and seemingly the big evil after making the dragon folk over ten thousand years ago dots left the sir prince in Atlantis an ancient city where the citizens work together with the Dual muscle Spirits leading the city to become one with nature they live peaceful life without any kind of greed and hatred until a show of oricago's rocks fell from the darkened Sky the citizens of Atlantis thought that it was a gift from Earth because the power of the Oregon coast led to extreme advances in technology knowledge medicine and everything you could think of while the city was advancing darts became the king of Atlantis shortly afterwards doubts realized that theory carcass wasn't a blessing to society but a downfall instead because it awoked in the darkness of an everybody thoughts eventually turning the city into bloodthirsty monsters themselves as soon as studs came in contact with Dory kayakos he learned the truth and the true purpose of it the orikaicos tests the human heart either you fall into the death of darkness and live for the sake of greed or you stay strong enough and use the powers to guard the planet since it was too late to get rid of the orikaicos because too many people fell under its girls wanted to use these powers to reset the world get rid of people that succumbed their heart's darkness and create people with knowledge and creativity to guard Earth to do that he needs to collect an enormous amount of souls to resurrect the god of orikaicos that is when ironheart and Chris their father and daughter of birds choose to work together with the Doom of the spirits to stop him this ended up being a war between the word of the Doom of spirits together with the Legendary Dragons against the recarcos this wall resulted into the world of the Dual monsters being separated from Earth the Legendary Dragons being sealed and the Oregon Scott being weakened at our current time Yugi served the millennium puzzle which resurrected strong Souls that could control the darkness and not drawn to the cursed soul of the Pharaoh with Yami being the source of Darkness Dutch wants to end the 10 000 year history with his sacrifice now with his past and his goal to cleanse the world from Darkness inside Humanity established we can finally talk about what happened in the duel against Kaiba and the Pharaoh we learned that the Earth has already collected so many Souls that he only needs both of theirs to revive story calculus God he shows that he is also capable of controlling these captured swords and fusing The Souls of Yugi Joey Mai and Pegasus into his mironoids this pressure Sephora or so much that he is incapable of attacking darts leading to be Troublesome for Khyber Raphael joins the room and tries to talk sense into doubts Yugi showed Raphael that you can overcome the darkness inside your heart which means that there's no need to reset Humanity for that but that gets disposing instantly by darts who demons created how you can always fall back into the darkness even if you overcame it before he revealed the Raphael that everything that has happened in the path to him velen and Amanda wasn't just a mere coincidence but in fact all part of Delta's plan his reasoning for all his actions was that the Destinies were set in stone and he just moved them forwards losing their families and loved ones were worthless compared to the big goal of Doma upon hearing this Raphael foot steep down inside his Darkness again losing himself and with that also his soul due to the oregarcos proving that's right that there's no way to release Humanity from the inner Darkness without resetting mankind himself these actions are also represented by the seals of oricatorical Stout's users it makes sense that he as the leader of Stormer would have a higher level fear with oracle's theoters desmera stoma two-way the second ring of the orikaicos allows him to gain 500 life points for every month he controls while he gains more souls for the orikarikos girls from having more Doma members but it goes even Beyond it with the third ring or recogn 3 touch he got an even greater power up his Leaf which shows how he was another step above the Musketeers of manipulating the whole paths without them knowing marikaka's three thoughts was ironically the first cutouts played after revealing a true path to Rafael perfectly demonstrating the might of his powers Kaiba started a combat industry by summoning mirror Force dragon and destroying all monster Stars controlled including the sole infused mironites but this also led to Kaiba losing since he destroyed orikako's kyotora which let Dad summon the mighty oricago shunaros with 20 000 attack points and strike back with a devastating attack that's drove the pharaoh to the edge of the spear he lost all his friends and stands all alone in front of darts who looks undefeatable he has 20 000 life points the unbreakable Trio of orikoko shunaros aristaros and dexia the Seal of oricacles with two extra layers of protection that's when that's told him that he is cursed being the source of Darkness even if the Pharaoh gets his memory back it will be inevitable that he would lead the world to destruction that's what else explains to him and that he can end all the suffering if he sacrifices his soul to the oricharcos yummy Vanishing deep inside his Darkness realizes that he has something in his heart that can't be erased a vessel created by the memories he created together with all his friends that's what's keeping him alive and he tells that he exists exactly for that reason to change by meeting friends this is the way to overcome the darkness within that that knowledge and creativity is what makes Humanity the Guardians of the planet and the Pharaoh uses exactly that to call forth the true forms of the Legendary Dragons together with the legendary Knights timaya's kritius and Hermos he defeats starts in the duel and releases Joeys and kyber souls after the duel ended Darth offered his own soul to the recalcos score to compensate for the souls of the free chosen Duelists and brings it back to life Yogi Zoe and Kaiba attacked the god together with all available dual monster spirits but they were no match for the urukakos god Yami connected to Every Soul living inside the God and encouraged them to overcome their inner Darkness with the energy of everybody's emotions flowing inside Yami he orders the three Egyptian gods to come forth in the name of the Pharaoh to fight Darth of God the orukakos got powered by the hatred and darkness inside Humanity Clash of thrift by The Hope and light empowered Egyptian gods and suffers another defeat every trap throw it gets released and everything seemed saved until doubts appear together with a weakened version of the recarcos god behind the Pharaoh he tells them that the God is the manifestation of the planet's hate over humanity and it won't vanish until the planet or mankind is gone for good Yami says that it's the duty of the Pharaoh to remove the darkness in this planet's heart and so he decides to take all the planet's head and darkness to himself so that his 3 won't repeat itself ever again he will let the darkness vanish inside the light of his memories and he succeeds doing it this brought back the oil doubts who wasn't burdened with saving the world by the orikaicos the Pharaoh took over his burden and thanks to that dogs can know together with ironheart Chris and his wife rest in peace in the afterlife yugioh's waking the dragons is not a perfect art but it certainly Head and Shoulders Above the Rest in terms of filler not only in Yu-Gi-Oh but anime as a whole typically filler is seen as a waste of time that must be skipped at all costs but waking the dragons demonstrates how filler can be useful some of the errors made when adapting earlier parts of the manga are fixed loose ends are tied for a better send-off in the conclusion and most important of all it's fun thanks for watching
