that's evil you tell everybody more or less where we are in Vietnam right now we are on the South China Sea depending on what you want to call it and actually in a city called - which is a massive huge polluted port and pretty close to halong bay which if you googled that you would immediately recognize it yeah that's correct actually it's quite interesting because we're right in the north of Vietnam as you say bordering China you know the Chinese port is not very far away from here we could get there and I'd probably a good day yeah less than a day comes hours but this city were in we keep going over these big bridges there's one right ahead of us right now yeah and they're basically all these tributaries that are crossing over and leading to the sea to the South China Sea so we thought since we're thank you since we're here we may as well talk about what's going on with the South China Sea since it's in the news a lot yeah this is and actually just in today's news yeah in today's news another one of those American ships went through there and China said don't do that even though it's international waters yeah they're doing what a freedom exercises yeah freedom of passage exercise okay anyway this was doing go door bonanza near meet ie Bootsy Qunari died all right let me tell you how much fuel we have yeah like a 1/4 tank who's that man yeah it should be all right but either way when we see it the sooner we get it okay so we're still recording it we are we are come on past I want to go over oh yeah go for it so uh what's the deal with the South China Sea their sea milk there's a lot of deals going down with the South China Sea and it we're in a very interesting place to be able to talk about it considering Vietnam stance is very different than a lot of other places particularly China's view so there's this whole freaking sea basically around goes all the way up to Japan all right you know with the Senkaku do you da islands that that was a big flashpoint for a while oh it and it goes all the way down really far down all the way down near Malaysia and Indonesia and all that kind of stuff but the problem is the really contested waters are actually off the bay here there's a lot of oil there's a lot of fishing rights and it's also a huge passage for international you know I think that's probably the main thing is write up the shipping passages yes so the long and short of it is China would absolutely love a situation where that international law was gone yeah and then they could kind of make a choke point and own the entire area probably give you like a road tax Oh toll gates I mean you're shipping through time ah there was a petrol station other in here yeah okay let's do it yeah sorry my brakes are terrible yeah anyway so bad it's stopping you know hey you want to get in it bike fight it's still diesel man are you serious yeah this is diesel diesel they sneak on the hammock on the sidewalk and go the other way yeah yeah and before anyone gives us I've seen people do this locals so we're just doing what the locals do yeah it's like you know you don't you wouldn't want to piss anyone off and like not fit in yeah you know and observe their culture yeah this is petrol petrol iMix okay I'm kind of curious dude run 95 around 95 I'm assuming this is OK with ivy five four it's better not be like poison gas together fool together thank you don't don't watch me while I do this stop when are you gonna learn from the first episode in Vietnam I show you how to do this and they don't think I watched come out I promise I'll learn this thing yeah both of you can't remember back in the original episode for this you can't remember yeah and this is the third time we filled up now where he struggled anyway it is what it is cool oh yeah let me get some money ready so these are almost empty I'll give the people a little price perspective all right price tips to see milk pretty sure so two bikes six liters of gas cost about five bucks for five dollars-six this bikes just sips fuel eight ten ten come on okay yeah come on that means thank you well now we're seeing a terrible Cumberland come on like kim jonghwan come on whoo yeah well he's he's actually here right now yeah believe it or not yeah yes I love those t-shirts we got yeah they're awesome show those yeah we do anyway yes I mean I think we had about a quarter tank yeah yeah that's really freakin fricked are there we go yeah you got it okay these are big t in my bike never go full yeah it's all this all this water that China wants right and the problem with it is a lot of these countries that want to deal with China ya have to kind of take it to capitulate yeah come on she let's I'm gonna capitulate for you because we need some we need some of your money it's a trade or infrastructure yeah we really enough a long time alive America obviously I have to go out and say that America and the West disagrees with China's cleaned so this will make this make more sense so the Philippines weirdly enough longtime ally I took China's stance and basically just gave him a bunch of land yeah look I mean the currently that dirty guy yeah is he's not very how can you say I think he's got quite a few screws loose that guy he's yeah but he's a he's kind of like a buddy-buddy with Xi Jingping yeah anyway so they they kind of took a weird stance where people were surprised to see this and weirdly enough Vietnam went full rogue they're like no no no no we are going to agree with America called American Defense Minister bro over there like we respect international law we want foreign companies and travel to be able to go through here so much to the point where they're actually negotiating whether or not to let a US aircraft carrier to port here which is insane considering we fought a war forty years ago and Vietnam has been very closed off in terms of you know military cooperation yeah yeah they have a three knows policy no no military intervention and no no foreign military bases here blah blah but they're willing to consider another policy because of China okay guys they're alone in this situation right sure and they have a lot to lose unlike some of the other places like Vietnam that probably is the most to lose in terms of sea area yeah so yeah we're actually in that contested area yes we are which is kind of cool I'd like to go down to the whole sort of root cause of all of this and that is man how do I put this - it's basically this this idea that China has right because they've got this whole thing oh there's this old map that we found that shows that you know traditionally this area used to be Chinese territory right Road I mean whether that old map is real or forged or whatever it doesn't matter it's still kind of silly that you say oh look there's an old map you know it's kind of like me saying oh I found this old map that proves that the British Empire rules like the whole world so now it belongs to me because I've got a British grandparent you know it's silly it's really silly so there are proper international treaties in place they're recognized by the UN right you know etc etc but China basically says nah it's ours yeah and then they start building military bases by making man-made islands in the area right and the only reason you would do something like that is so that you could take it by force and defend its you know right so they're kind of doing a little sneaky job here something against international treaties and against international law and they just expect everyone to accept it because they say it's theirs and I think that's the biggest problem here is they're not willing to actually sit down properly and negotiate on the international stage as far as this is concerned they just like it's ours we're taking it and if you don't believe us look at this old map and go screw yourself and go home you know I think a lot of people will go question like why would China do such a thing right and it's it's very simple for us to understand because China is usually in this position where they need to justify their existence to their own people so when they they use this as like propaganda tool there's that phrase what is the edn double shell yeah you'd end up which are like one little crumb we will not we will not kill not give little little it's very useful in like kind of legitimizing rule and making sure that the people are like yeah yeah that's our yeah it was like that with the da da thing now it's where the South China Sea with the you know the Vietnam area and like I honestly don't see how this is gonna end up well sure for anyone I mean the status quo right now it's quite good China's got a ton of land got ton of waters and now they just want a freakin choke point any sort of travel through there basically and claim ownership over all these oil rights and the fact that they're trying to claim ownership of the water right here yeah right it right literally off the coast right off the coast of Vietnam I think it's a bit it's a bit much right you know because there's a lot of water they can claim that's along the east coast of China right which is correct but like over here come on I think you're overreaching a little bit there but you know what what what if anything with the resolution to all of this be the solution yeah I guess enough international support that tells China to take a chill pill yeah problem is they have so much sway in the region not it's not even positive sway like most neighboring countries you in Southeast Asia are not fans of China but they feel kind of hopeless I guess sure and people do want development and stuff so Vietnam is kind of like the last middle finger to China in the region obviously Japan but I'm talking about Southeast Asia yeah so I don't know I guess you got to see more countries backing what Vietnam is claiming and upholding international treaties the problem is it doesn't matter at this point it's trying to just prove in time time again they don't actually care yeah I think we want to go over that massive bridge over there that one yeah it's pretty draining yeah I can see there was a sign saying no motorbikes to the right so let's just go right okay okay petrol boy we're going actually no I don't think we can there's no trucks I'm pretty sure I see one or two bikes there yeah let's just go straight down here for a bit we'll figure it out because we're almost ready to wrap this up to be honest yeah that this is that there's basically disputed waters right over here on the coast of Vietnam but it's not not only Vietnam and China that have a problem there are tons of other Southeast Asian countries and other countries in the region that claim the water - yeah you know at least their own people yeah they claim their own little piece and on top of that they also want to respect international maritime law right the high seas laws which is what the way it's been for ever and you know it's really annoying is that China didn't really care until recently because you know China's basically being cut off for so long that they're just dealing with their own problems all of a sudden they get a little bit of money they get a little bit of a place in the world stage and they're like it's ours you know another jumping up and down but before they were just kind of like happy you know right so it's it's a little annoying from that point of view I understand every country you know once its sovereignty and wants to have its place in the world but there are proper ways to do it you know right not this um it's kind of like Hitler marching into the Rhineland you know yeah and doing all those things just keep pushing these buttons and saying like oh no actually this this belongs to Germany this should be part of Germany part of our German nation right slowly but surely taking over what is that massive yachts on the left that's a good shell of account is it a concrete yacht it literally looks like a concrete yacht what the actual hell that maybe it's maybe it's a building anyway but you know it's that kind of thing where people ignore it to a point but when you start to push too far you're gonna get a bad reaction so I just hope for everyone's sake and I know the u.s. is agitating the situation on purpose of these these little tests you know they keep doing and I mean it's it's kind of childish but it's like poking a hornet's nest as poke poke poke until they try to sting you then you can just sting back you know right that's kind of what's going on yeah it seems I get all these yeah what is why do we find ourselves in these places we're talking about depression the other day this is what brings it on yeah it is anyway I hope that there will be a peaceful resolution to all of this I just hope that everybody can respect each other as one respect yes it's international waters but also respect the fact that China also has rights to use said waters just like everybody sure I think everybody should just use it and get along and stop trying to be like this kindergarten kids saying that this toy is mine right you know like there's a toy in the communal toy pile but every day the Chinese kid goes over and grabs it and doesn't let anyone else play with it you know right right and then like the other kids gang up and try to fight the Chinese kid to get the toy back it's kind of like that Yeah right anyway anything you'd like to say to our subscribers before we sign off whether you claim parts of international waters yourself or you you know you respect your own land in your own property and just you know you're happy with what you have I appreciate you and yeah let us let us know what you think down below let us
