gear up we're saving the negatives for last starting with the positives the first thing that you're absolutely Gonna Love is just the scenery I'm sure you've seen pictures of Cape Town and you're thinking wow is this place actually look like this yes somehow the pictures don't even do this place Justice I really haven't seen anywhere else in the world that has this type of beauty and I've been to a lot of gorgeous places but this really is at the top the scenery is just spectacular and the craziest part is it's everywhere whether you're on the water walking the Promenade doing hikes on like tabletop mountain or lion's head or any of the other ones driving across the coastline like it is all just stunningly beautiful you're just not gonna find anything like this anywhere else so you're gonna love the scenery and the second thing that you're absolutely gonna love about Cape Town is the food I know I often talk about the food but Cape Town just I don't know they took it to another level and what's craziest is the quality of the food for what you're paying for it is just insane I mean you can get a fillet steak for like ten dollars U.S you can get like a wagu beef steak which in a place like Chicago or New York is easily a hundred dollar stake at a minimum and we're talking for like a few ounces in Cape Town we're talking like 35 bucks for like an 8 to 10 ounce Wagyu steak like that's just unheard of like all the cuisine has just been phenomenal I really haven't done any eating at home because I haven't had to it it's just more affordable to go out try the local places and eat all their Cuisines so I'm in heaven here's a foodie if you're a foodie You're Gonna Love Cape Town as well so the food Top Notch now the third thing that you're absolutely Gonna Love here in Cape Town is the feel because it feels like what you would expect a Beach town to feel like and bear with me here but most beach towns and my experience don't actually feel like what you are hoping a Beach Town feels like Cape Town completely different this is exactly what I picture when I think Beach town and the accommodations match it I made a whole video about the Airbnb that I stayed in but it was the best Airbnb that we've ever stayed in and it hasn't been close and that's coming from somebody who stays in the airbnbs full time we're sitting here watching the Dolphins and the Whales swim by every night from the balcony like it's just Exquisite you can click the link at the end of this video if you want to see the actual place but I don't know this place just feels like what a Beach town is supposed to feel like and the Airbnb it fit like it's just perfect just another example of Cape Town one-upping everything else on our list now the fourth thing that you're absolutely gonna love about Cape Town is that there's something to do for everybody whether you're wanting to go on adventures and do paragliding and hiking and safaris all that kind of stuff you have it if you want to just Lounge on the beaches you you'll on Food Tours Wine Tours whatever you want like they have it we seriously would not have left if it wasn't for our visas expiring and uh spending a bunch of money to do some Istanbul stuff so there's some more content coming soon but yeah seriously this place has something for everybody you're absolutely gonna love it and the fifth thing that you're absolutely gonna love about Cape Town is kind of a unique one and it's that most places that are this great get swarmed with tourists get swarmed with the digital Nomads but Cape Town because of its Geographic positioning actually kind of is isolated because it's such a pain in the butt to get there right like you're talking about a 20 hour travel day to get down to Cape Town if you're coming from the US even if you're coming from Europe though like you're still talking about 10 to 12 hours at least so because it doesn't provide that easy travel day for a lot of the westerners it doesn't get as packed as other big tourist destinations like this would but now it's time to get real talk about some of the negatives and the first thing that you might not like or might even hate about Cape Town is actually something we touched on and it's the geographic positioning if you're a Westerner if you're somebody from the US or Europe Cape Town is really difficult and expensive to get to Sarah and I flew from the east coast and it still costs us over a thousand dollars each to get down to Cape Town and for my friends who are coming from Europe they said it was still in the ballpark of 600 to a thousand dollars per flight and that's just one way now I do think it's worth it but just know you're gonna spend that time and effort so be ready for it now the second thing that you might not love or might even hate and this one probably will bug you is something called load shedding in South Africa right now is in a tough spot they're having energy crisis and a lot of it's tied to corruption and it really sucks that the locals have to experience this on a daily basis but basically load shedding is when they actually cut the power in parts of City to conserve energy and it happens just about every day now it's not always a huge deal because sometimes it's in the middle of the day and you don't need things like lights on but other times it's at night and unless you have candles ready or chargeable lights or anything like that you're gonna be left in the dark and it disrupts a lot including local businesses then those are the people that you really feel for I mean you walk down the Main Street and some of the wealthier businesses have small generators and can manage to stay in operation during those times but others can't and that really sucks and it's something that you're going to experience as a traveler there as well now from a travel perspective not the biggest deal in the world right you can make sure that your phone is always charged up there's apps where you can track like when it's actually going to happen they don't just shut it off randomly luckily but it definitely does happen and it is something that you will likely experience so I have another video coming out that's going to be like the 21 tips on Cape Town so I'll have far more details on how to manage load chatting and some of the tips and tricks there's and if I could make a request if you do go down to Cape Town and you do experience load shedding which hopefully you don't hopefully the government will have figured out this crisis by the time you visit don't be the tourist that complains about it especially to the locals the locals deal with it every single day those are the people that we should feel for not the tourists who don't have internet for a few hours so if there is anything you can take away from the video take away that don't be the complainer be grateful for being down there and getting to experience their awesome culture now the third thing that you might not like and might even hate about Cape Town is just the safety aspect it probably shouldn't come as a surprise to you that South Africa as a whole is not a very wealthy country there's a lot of inequality and a lot of poverty unfortunately and with that there's also a lot of safety concerns now as a whole from a tourist perspective I always felt safe but I can recognize that some people who are less experienced might not feel as comfortable especially in certain parts of town so you'll definitely notice that there are safety officers who are looking out for tourists and locals alike to make sure that people aren't getting taken advantage of but I did have a colleague while we were down there who was just walking through the streets texting wasn't being very diligent and some guy came grabbed her phone right out of her hands and took off and I really don't say this to scare you because again as a whole we had an exceptional experience in Cape Town and almost always felt safe but I just want you to be a little bit more diligent again that 21 tips video I'm gonna dive into far more detail there so be aware from the safety perspective but I think you should be fine now the fourth thing that you might not like or might even hate in Cape Town is if you're the night owl Cape Town might not be the city for you if you are looking for that great nightlife there are places in Cape Town where you can experience that I will say if there was ever a time that I was kind of sketched out in Cape Town it was when load shedding actually happened at night all of the Power lights you know on the streets went out and it's just pitch black so not necessarily an area that you want to be walking around at late at night so just have that expectation going in you're gonna have all your fun during the sunlight hours which luckily there's plenty of those so don't worry about it but just have that expectation set before you go in the fifth and final thing that you might not love or might even hate about Cape Town is you might not do your research ahead of time and know where to stay it's actually really important here to do your research because the neighborhoods are just so drastically different but don't worry I got you covered click on this video right here if you want to learn about all those different pockets and understand where to stay and click on this one if you want to see where I actually stayed and see that full Airbnb tour so hope this was helpful and we'll catch you guys next time types of Cuisines Cuisines cuisines I just nailed my arm out of the water more content if you want Oh My God
