What You NEED To Know About The Camaro ZL1 in 2024!!

oh my goodness you feel like you're in a rocket ship [Music] basically today I am super excited to be here with Michael and his beautiful Camaro ZL1 hopefully by the end of this video it'll help you decide whether you should or should not buy one of these for yourself so all I know is this is a Camaro ZL1 so can you tell me about about how it's specked and if there's anything that makes this different from any other ZL1 when I was looking for this car specifically um it was either between this gray or the blue that the Camaro or that Chevy has for the ZL1 I ended up going with this uh over the blue and over the black too just because the the accents every other piece is it's very dirty right now so you can't really see it but the bottom Trim in and the splitter in the front um pop a little bit more when it's clean it was super important to me to find one with the carbon carbon fiber exposed I love having the moon roof so that was another huge piece for me so when I was looking for this specific spec uh over like a year span only like two came up that's awesome so what made you want to buy this rather than like any other sports car out there yeah it's a great question this look how aggressive that is and well that and then also very few people have zl1's now granted I know like it's a fairly popular car it's not like a Lamborghini or something where they're very uh low numbers but in comparison to like hellcats or Chargers or challengers um or the Mustangs like there's so many more Mustangs than there are Camaros and so there's very few of the ZL ones driving around that and then also Motor Trend when they came out with the fifth gen I was in like high school and I saw it and I was like that's such a cool looking car and then they came out with the six gen ZL1 and I'm like all right that's like 10 times cooler just because of the front grill so that's why I went with this the only regret I have is uh I wish I went with the one Al the one stepped up from this a little bit more aggressive comes with like a huge Wing in the back and stuff but uh nice all right so this is your daily can you talk about what it's like to daily this thing the pros and cons of dailying yeah so it comes with four modes so to touring uh track Sport and then snow and ice um I have all season tires on it I know that's going to like really offend the purist that love using this just as a track car but I I have it as my daily and I love it touring is great for like longdistance driving it literally just kind of feels like a Honda Civic at that point with just a lot more power uh it's quiet super smooth softens the suspension and then track and Sport are basically the same thing it's just track stiffens the the suspension and steering up a bit and you can definitely know this when you're going a lot faster around the turns and stuff and then snow and ice like I think I've used it once yeah it's funny they even put that in there I know but it honestly it's a great daily it's got plenty of trunk space my kids fit in the back seats with uh full car seats and everything that's awesome about how much power does this actually have stock so stock it has 650 horsepower that's awesome and it's supercharged so it's got the nice supercharger wine yep Supercharged V8 lt4 so it's out of the Corvette originally I thought about the SS version which is a V8 uh without the supercharger on it but you know if you're going to do it you might as well just go full on and get the the real deal All Out All or Nothing All or Nothing so with 650 horsepower it's got to be pretty quick what's like the fastest you've taken this what what limits have you pushed it to in Mexico I've gone 140 nice it's hard to find Long strips in Meo yeah fair enough so coming from the owner what are the pros and cons of owning this car okay for me the pro is obviously the horsepower and the speed cons on this car for me are just they're little things like the paddle shifters are very just like plasticky so I've put like metal like or aluminum uh paddle shifters on it it's it's a 10-speed automatic I wish I went with the manual um my car before just was a Volvo S60 so uh jumping and it was automatic so jumping up to like a manual I was like oh my God I don't know if I can handle that yeah fair enough yeah so now that I've been with this for like two or 3 years I wish I went manual and then the con in that aspect is just it's a 10speed so it's just like the gears are like just crazy it's not like a normal six-speed sure that makes sense with the whole car if you had to choose one thing that's your favorite what would that be my favorite thing is just the the overall look I know that's like more to one thing but like and if I want specific on that I'd say the front grill just looks super aggressive so that's my favorite thing it's like it always makes me no matter where I go like whether I'm going to gym or the grocery store park it and like turn back and look at it cuz it's just like just looks sick it is it looks awesome if you had to pick one thing that's your least favorite about the whole car what would that be probably like the visibility out of it it doesn't bother me too too much uh because I just try to keep aware but you have to definitely like turn your head and stuff like can't there's not you can't see anything like the back right and left like there there's no viewing that whatsoever so yeah that's interesting I've heard that there's like horrible blind spots it seems unsafe but they haven't Chang so yeah and and I'll have people like uh drive up try and take photos and stuff as I'm driving not as many as I'm sure when you know you have a Lamborghini or something so I'm always having to keep aware of that kind of stuff too which is kind of frustrating so yeah so if I was to buy one of these how much am I going to have to pay for one so you're probably going to be paying around 60 to 70k for this I got mine for around 60 use uh that was about like 2 or 3 years ago but they seem to be holding their value really well Chevy also came out with the panther uh which is like the final Camaro model they call it final you know they always whip out the next one but that one's going for like 130 right now it's been helping to keep the prices of these pretty high so when it comes down to it if someone should or shouldn't buy one of these what's your opinion on someone getting one my opinion is that you should get one or maybe you should actually don't get one so that I like look more exclusive with just mine I think it's a great daily driver like I said because it has all those modes so touring sport track all that stuff you can go out and have a lot of fun with people but then when you just Cruise in the town it's super easy it has two seats in the back you can get your kids in the back uh with you know the whole car seats and everything so as a daily driver it's it's awesome and then if you flip it into touring mode I've gotten like 29 MP gallon on uh yeah on the long trips but if you're driving it spiritedly in Mexico I get like 8 to 9 miles per G should we go uh drive it spiritedly in Mexico let's do it all right let's [Music] go all right that sounds awesome sweet that's it's a really good [Music] sound [Music] dang feels great these roads are pretty windy so it's kind of a good test for yeah so you got the back seat down for Better Sound yeah okay I I sound like I'm in high school cool but like yeah put the VAC seat down you can hear it a lot more [Music] nice oh [Music] [Applause] dang oh wow oh that's awesome wow it's an aggressive [Music] caroo oh that's awesome this is it seems like such a fun car to daily oh yeah it's a lot of fun oh man it's very tempting like when you're just driving home from the grocery store just like pop it into paddle shifting mode and just like rip it y y what does it feel like driving can you describe that feeling I think uh something that like really hit me when I first bought the car this is going to come out of nowhere but like uh the steering wheel feels like so much smaller than like a normal car okay yeah and then the whole alcatara feel to it is great you feel like you're in a rocket ship basically you're just kind of sitting low like and it's like poised and ready to go so yeah [Music] yeah oh man holy crap oh man it is [Music] fun [Music] woo wow it Corners well yeah it's it's crazy it like sticks gosh it does [Music] man wow it's a roller coaster to ride in that's for sure it's a roller coaster to drive to I believe it oh my gosh oh my goodness do you have [Music] to do you have to be careful does it break loose or it doesn't really it seems like it's doing amazing no I've I've had it uh break loose a couple times when the tires are cold but other than that no like I mean people compare these to a Hellcat quite a bit and it's way different yeah I wouldn't uh the hellcats are really good at going in a straight line but like these are sport these are sports cars yeah you know that's what it is that's fine yeah hellcats are still muscle cars you know y these are like hellcats can't do that no no nowhere close to that at all so that's awesome yeah it's a lot a have you ever been driving and you just see a beautiful spot where you have to pull over and take some pictures of your car yeah that happened dang yeah Camaro on it oh yeah uh so there's that um the other thing too is I just like a couple of my buddies had Mustangs like uh everyone where I used to live had Mustangs and stuff and like no one had like a ZL1 so I was like that's it y plus I I feel like these look cooler maybe that's super aggressive yeah I love yeah the aggressive look is like why I love it and there's very few there's very few cars out there where I'm like you don't have to mod it to make it look good so yeah that's [Music] awesome [Music] Oho yeah you went around that like 85 yeah I know that was fast it's such a tight corner too yeah thing that's kind of cool uh you can see it with your phone probably is uh it has a heads up display here okay so um I'm able to like see the speedometer like on the witch screen that's awesome [Music] yeah dang oh it's so fun that's incredible the whole experience the sound and the the feeling it throws you back and see now we're getting like 8 mil the gall average fuel oh my goodness yeah that's bad yeah that's bad but you're driving it hard right now [Music] so oh my goodness that's such a tight corner it just hugged it it was silent in here I was like the low key is like a terrifying feeling but you did it and it was awesome what's crazy though is like I I cut back a bit like I could have done like another like yeah 10 to 20 mph on that oh I can imagine this uh this doesn't get old [Music] yeah it sounds like 10 times louder with that thing put the back seat down oh yeah like it doesn't sound like that loud but the I mean not loud but like not that loud it's the weirdest thing interesting yeah it sounds really good so it's a it's a good thing to do that is put that down cuz it sounds [Music] awesome holy crap woo yeah I'd buy one yeah they're a lot of fun [Music] holy crap dang that sounds really good you're more of a cornering guy than a straight line guy I I like the straight lines I don't mind it I just uh I used to race go-karts in high school oh really yeah so I'm just like yep so my goal would be to get back into racing somehow that'd be awesome it's got a nice supercharger wine it do not as much as like a Hellcat where they're known for that wine but it's just like a subtle wine that sounds nice when you put that cold air intake on it it gets it sounds like really oh yeah it's like because it's sucking in so much more air it's like it sounds sick that's awesome and you plan on doing that yeah I want to that it's like five or 600 bucks so okay oh yeah woo oh my God yeah actually fell a lot slower than it was it did yeah we were flying it's a really comfortable car thanks for yeah it's really comfortable like for a for a sports car you could just drive across country with this oh I I drove it from Delaware 12 hours or 13
