look at it in the 18th hour this small m is one of my favorite neighborhoods in Paris and I probably visited it more times than any other neighborhood in the city unlike other parts of Paris M has maintained its Village charm that can still be felt through its pretty trads good cafes and artistic Vibe hi everyone my name is Esther from dreams inp paris.com and today be showing you some of the best things to do in moment I'll also be sharing some practical tips at the end of the video so make sure you stick around till the end you'll probably arrive at Square Louis Michelle while you will enjoy a beautiful view of the Basilica the square has a carousel beautifully paved Pathways and benches to sit on you will find lots of people picnicking here particularly in the summer months continue climbing the steps or even tuck the fular and you rich Saka which is no doubt the most famous attraction in M standing on top of a hill at 272 ft or 83 m l in white with d soaring through the skies it's safe to say that this is one of the most beautiful churches in Paris while the exterior architecture is imposing with various statues including those of John of Ark and St Louis the former King of France the interior is equally impressive from the central Mosaic dubbed Christ in Majesty which is also the biggest in France staying glass windows very chaples a beautiful golden sculpture of Jesus to whom the church is dedicated to so many other things to [Music] see the church also features a crypt with several chapel and a display of religious artifacts the highlight of any visit however is to climb up to the 292 steps to its Dome to get one of the most beautiful views of Paris The Climb is a bit steep so you might want to take your time with them or even choose not to go if you're not in the best shape physically but if you can Brave yourself you'll be treated to a beautiful view of Paris you'll see the eiel Tower Paris roofs aneled notam Cathedral the towers of the Basilica itself and so so much more if you choose not to climb the tower you'll still have a nice view of the city from the steps in front of the Basilica you should not that visiting the Saka is free but you'll have to pay around €8 to claim the Dome and if you want the unique souvenir there is a photographer right in front of the Saka who takes vintage photos that come out like old newspapers and as for one to visit I recommend going either in the morning before 11:00 a.m. or in the evening as it gets very crowded in the afternoon hours just next to Saka is the sinking house or the greatest illusion in the M Village when you look at this colorful building from the steps below the Basilica it kind of gives an illusion that it's sinking hence the nickname but in reality it's just a camera trick right before we leave the Saka area there's another place you should see where muscle glone blet it is just behind the Basilica and while most people stick to the front I recommend going backwards to see this little squ it offers a quiet place and a unique view of the Saka the streets near Saka are as vibrant as they get so I recommend just walking around to take it all in you'll find lots of restaurants sidewalk cafes souvenir shops and so many galleries if you want to pick up some ma there is a p h on who do the store is so Charming that it has become a mop for instagrammers and of course the macaronis are equally delicious Believe It or Not Paris was a wine growing City Once Upon a Time but as it became urbanized most Vineyards didn't survive but there's one that did and luckely for us we can still get a glimpse of of it known as clom mat this Vineyard is still functioning producing over 1,000 bottles of wine every year it's unfortunately closed most of the year except during the annual goup Harvest Festival in October known as F the vage right next to the vineyard is laa ail a colorful 19th century building known for cabarets back in the day it used to be a hangout place for struggling artists including Picasso who even painted it in his at the LA ail painting helping the calar become even more famous it still holds some shows today with a focus on French songs however if you don't want to watch any shows I still find the building quite Charming with its orange and green colors some of the things that make M as Charming as it is are its Cent cobstone streets and the most famous is going to be hu L it is lined with colorful old buildings that de back to the early 18th and 19th centuries and although just strolling is rewarding there are a few attractions that stand out the first is lamazon horse also known as The Pink House the building is easily recognizable by its distinctive pink facade It is believed to have been built in the 1850s and over the years it was frequented by many famous artists including suzan valadon Alba kamu Dela and Pablo Picasso today it's still very much a restaurant that serves french food although it has become a popular Instagram spot with so many instagramers and photographers using it as a backdrop continue strolling down the street and you reach boast D the leader see a br bronze statue dedicated to Thea an iconic French singer it is actually believed that when you rub her breasts you have good luck I don't know how true that is but when you look closely you'll see how the breast area has changed color due to increased touches compared to other parts while at this place just look back from where you came from and you'll have another view of the Saka [Music] from here we walk to square suzan buo which is about 3 minutes away although lovely the square is quite small and the only reason you're coming here is to see the statue of St Dennis who was the first Bishop of Paris a little bit unusual so to fully understand why it looks the way it does you need to know a little bit of history or legend for that matter back back in the 250s St Dennis was sent to the region of Gul and since he converted many people to Christianity the Romans were not happy about it so they decided to Mur him as part of the Roman campaign to persecute Christians but with the guidance of the Angels St Dennis didn't die instantly when he was beheaded he instead carried his head in his hands to the place he wanted to be buried which is is the current Basilica of St Dennis in the northern subur of Paris and the shape of the statue there is also a fountain that is believed to be miraculous continuing with the theme of sculptures one of the places to stop while exploring m is lupas along Nova the idea of a man walking through all was based on a character from m m noo who realized that he had Supernatural powers of walking through the wall but it was je Mah who sculpted this artwork as a way of paying tribute to the novelist now there's not much to do here other than taking a picture but knowing the history behind it before you visit will make it more interesting in my opinion before M became the buzzling neighborhood we see today it used to be covered in fields and thus the need for windmills to help in grinding flour and pressing grips during the 17th century this Village had close to 300 Ms but today only two can be found though collectively known as molaa galet these two windmill can be found on R L on top of a fancy French restaurant this is actually the windmill that inspired B painting known as dance at L mola dallet one thing I like about moment is that it hides so many cute streets and another one you can't miss is whole Nova just a few minutes walk away from Mula D gallet the street is buzzing with souvenir shops galleries restaurants but probably the most famous is L consula this historical establishment used to welcome artists like van go Picasso Cloud Monet and so many others today the cafe still serves french dishes but if you're not looking to sit down for a meal just capturing some photos of it is enough you'll even have a view of the Dums of the Saka from here there are so many little streets just of this main one so give yourself some time to discover [Music] them another 5 minutes walk and you'll be at class D for years this choir was a Gathering Place for famous artists to sell their paintings and fast forward today still a h of present day artists hence its nickname as the artist Square you find hundreds of artists painting various scenaries of Paris or portraits of people you can stay a bit to admire their work buy a few of the already painted pieces and if you're up for it get a portrait of yourself the place is also buzzing with lots of sidewalk cafes restaurants bakeries and C so if you're hungry this is the perfect time to get something to eat there's no doubt that one of the poorest nicknames is the city of love and the wall of Love truly brings it out this 40 square meter World depicts 311 I love yous written in 250 languages from all across the world you'll be able to recognize common ones like English and French obviously but there are also other lesser known languages you've probably never even heard of before visiting cemeteries is not everyone's cup of tea but if it's your thing M cemetery is another place not to miss to be honest cemeteries are not my thing either but paris's cemeteries make you want to visit them the Shockers art in the form of artistic gravestones gigantic sculptures and statues and this cemetery is no doubt it's actually the third largest cemetery in Paris and you'll find gravestones of famous people who lived in the neighborhood of M including Dela Edgar deas Alexander Dumas Emily Zola and so many others if you're looking for a place to take a stroll away from the noise of the city consider coming here to take advantage of its tree lined parts if you still want to visit another Cemetery add s Sol Cemetery to your M Bucket List It is however small and a little unknown compared to its counterpart we come to the end of our things to do in M with Mona it may not be in M technically but rather in pigal but if you're on this side of the city it will be a shame to miss it it was the first cabet to introduce can can as a form of dancing that they still actually incorporate in their nightly entertainment today if you want to watch a show you'll have to book way in advance to guarantee a spot since it's quite popular among tourists I'll leave the link to book it in the description below even just admiring its red facade is equally impressive it's even better at night when it's all lit up and its windmills rotating if you remember at the beginning of the video I said that I will give you some tips so in this segment we'll look at some of the fuel tips to make sure you plan your day in M well first is to wear comfortable working shoes this might seem like a very obvious tip but trust me in moment you need them it's very heilly with lots of stairs so you want to wear comfortable walking shoes I've seen several scums in M particularly around Saka so you need to be very Vigilant the common ones include women coming to you to sign a random paper hoping they'll scum you into paying money after that just say no same for someone being overly nice and giving you free bracelets no it's a scam they're not free trust me I agree there are so many things to do in mmart so it's impossible to see everything especially if you're visiting for a few hours what I recommend is to prioritize and start with the mes for you and if you run out of time it's still okay it's better to enjoy the places you're visiting instead of rushing through everything just to take them off your bucket list if doing it on your own is a lot you can sign up for a guided tour of M which will take you through most of the places I've mentioned in the video I'll leave the link to my favorite moment guided tour in the description below now on to how to get around M the best way to enjoy the famous and hidden gems in m is by walking however for people who don't want to walk for long or have reduced Mobility you can book the small tourist train of M to get you around this train ride also comes with live commentary to learn a bit more about the various places you'll be seeing some buses also go all around m or you can even opt for the finicle to take you from the bottom of the hill to the top of the sakea as for how to get to mmart you can either take metral lines M12 or M2 but where you stop exactly depends on where you want to start your visit if you take M12 you can either stop at a Bas or Lark colan Co station on the opposite side if you're visiting M for the first time I recommend stopping at the ab station as it leaves you right in the middle of most of the major tourist attractions on the other hand if you take M2 you can either stop at blanch station which will put you right next to mon plastic cliche or onve station but regardless of the Metro you take you'll be just a few minutes walk from the popular attraction of M and that's it guys I hope you enjoyed exploring M with me thank you so much for watching and don't forget to like share and subscribe not to miss any new videos about Paris and let me know your favorite part about m in the comments below see you next time bye-bye
