well let's move on to some topics so first off I was hoping to talk about PI project Tamil I think when we I'm sure we've covered it before but the bright Canon is one of is he still part of the core did he get voted out I think you suffer the count on shows it yeah um anyway he wrote an article just released sermons recently called what the heck is pi project tamil and what I mean one of the reasons why I wrote it and I think there's an interesting side effect is so if you're not if you're just if you're just joining us the PI project at Tamil came out of the efforts with up five one seven and five one eight to define what the file looks like and it kind of defines how what tools are needed to build a project and and how to build it and that used to be mostly just set up tools but now there's lots of other tools like flit and poetry and you can make your own if you want to but anyway these are the this this file one of the side effects is people started adding other their tool configuration to this file such as like coverage and talks now you can you can put the those configurations into PI project a Tamil for those tools even even though it has nothing to do with building and it just saves you from having an extra file even though those tools have their own configuration files and then black came around and black uses only as a few configurations available so instead of creating their own configuration file black uses the PI project uh Tamil for looking up configuration if you want to configure like line length or something and so there's there's been projects that have added PI project Tamil files for the reason because they were trying to they're using black also and and now they're their builds don't work and the reason is if there's a pipe project a tunnel even if you're using setup tools pip will it will look for the built stuff around that within the file so Brett is a has gone and added showed the the few lines of code you need to add to the Tamil file to specify how to build with setup tools and that's that's the main contribution for this but it's also I think that people ought to go read the article because it's a good good summary where we're at right now thank you for watching this segment of the Python bites podcast this video is made during the recording of the full episode visit Python bites dot FM and get the whole story subscribe to the podcast and get the entire episode delivered to your phone please support our work by taking one of the courses at Python bites at FM / courses or learning PI test with Brian's book app Python bites that FM / PI test finally visit our sponsor shown on the screen here visit the link on the screen and get the special offer for Python bites and YouTube listeners thanks and have a great rest of your day
