What Pokemon Cards Should I Buy? I FOUND A 2014 BOOSTER PACK AT THE STORE! (opening)

at this very moment it feels like 1999 all over again when it comes to collecting pokemon cards it's such a nostalgic feeling if you're new to the hobby welcome hopefully you're having a great time so far i know it can be confusing on where to start and people ask me all the time what pokemon cards should i buy so here is what i look for what is up my breaking family send in some positive vibes in your direction today we are back with another episode of what pokemon cards should i buy and we are going to start off the journey here at this target so basically what we're going to do is we're going to travel around to a few different stores and i'm going to show you some pokemon cards that you should be looking out for this will be especially helpful if you are new to pokemon card collecting you're not sure where to start but remember the number one rule when collecting pokemon cards is to make sure that you're having fun that right there is my only rule so breaking family let's not wait any longer let's head inside this target right here and look for some pokemon cards so here at the pokemon card section is actually pretty stocked here at this target location we do see these new tins right here and a bunch of other tens as well now obviously two sets you want to be on the lookout for is hidden fates and champions fast those might be just a little bit difficult to find but make sure you keep your eyes peeled and don't just check in the pokemon card section kind of go over to the magic the gathering section as well as the yu-gi-oh because sometimes products can kind of make their way over there however unfortunately i don't see either of those at this location so let's go ahead and take a look at everything else and see if there is anything worth picking up right now we do have the alternatives box right here with a great pack selection burning shadows darkness ablaze evolutions right there in the back and evolutions is currently jumping up in value i've seen booster boxes within the past few days to reach 270 dollars always make sure you check these third-party products because sometimes you might be surprised at what comes inside of it now however this one has steam siege so we're just gonna set that right back there this one over here has burning shadows two packs and forty sleeves however one of the other packs is a detective pikachu pack so unfortunately i don't think it is going to be worth i think the 10 price tag on it let's make sure we check the three packs and see if there's anything just a little bit older we do see rebel clash i think most of this is going to be rebel clash i don't see any darkness ablaze to be honest with you but i do see a few packs of darkness ablaze right over here and those are always worth picking up because honestly darkness ablaze is getting a little bit difficult to find even though it's a newer set that was released just a couple months ago i mean there is a charizard in it of course now this meows v max box right here is actually not too bad because you got two cosmic eclipse packs one unified mines and then an evolutions right back there and of course guardians rising is over there but the pack selection is really nice and for i believe 25 30 if it's 25 i would say definitely pick this up and somebody's very upset and crying that they can't get any pokemon cards and marie has found a shirt now i will always say the true steel collection box is a really good buy because of the pack selection i mean sword and shield base set you see cosmic eclipse right over there burning shadows i have seen these come with team up as well so if you can find the ones with team up honestly i'd say get it i think for right now at this location i'm just going to grab a couple darkness ablaze packs and then i'm going to go check the back then we'll go to another store one thing i do see is this espeon gx box a little bit older the pack selection not the best but hey extreme value so if you missed out on this box and you're an eeveelution fan now is a good time to pick it up now they also have a legends of johto gx boxes on extreme value as well inside you're gonna get two ultra prism booster packs evolutions and burning shadows and two promo cards for only 31.99 a really neat older box that i think we are going to pick up for today's pokemon opening i mean i feel like the promos alone make it pretty awesome all right walmart is up next all right let's see what walmart has to offer definitely some different stock than what we just saw at target i do see this gengar ex box which kind of nostalgic if you were around during this time period collecting pokemon cards an older xyz primal clash and some evolutions i always laugh at this detective kit right here definitely probably maybe yeah definitely not worth your money i mean it does say look for this randomly inserted psa first edition card i haven't heard of anybody pulling one yet so maybe it's uh still out there twenty dollars um it may be worth a try if you're feeling lucky don't even bother with these 20 cards in one foil i mean even this one right here is taped up it looks like somebody opened it up or even returned it here is another older box right here the shiny silvally gx box sun and moon base that baits collide and two crimson invasion not highly sought after booster packs there's some great cars inside of them crimson ovation has a rainbow rare gyarados as well as a secret rare water energy so if you're into one of those then yeah definitely grab this but overall definitely not highly sought after right here we have a fan favorite box with pikachu and eevee cosmic eclipse right back there i see some unified mines but those promo cards those promo cards right there they might be worth it although hiding right back there is steam siege i feel like it's only appropriate we check underneath the shelf just to make sure that there's nothing under there nope so even at this walmart location i don't really see anything that i want to pick up now these tins you know tens are always not a bad choice but i think just for the laughs in this video i'm gonna go ahead and grab this detective kit just in case you've never seen it before i can show you what's inside of it and that way you can kind of determine if you want to spend your money on it but i'm telling you it's a little rough now watch me pull that psa8 out of here store number three is going to be meyer now meyer is a midwest retail chain but think of it as kind of like a walmart it's very similar back here in the card section at meyer you can see it is a little empty over there there is some stuff right over here as well but i do see this porygon z gx box and i love the pack selection lost thunder which i have a hard time finding two unified mines one evolutions this honestly is a great deal for 20 for all four of those packs and you get that promo we might end up buying two of them but we're definitely gonna get one of them there is one of the older alola collection boxes i'm not a fan of the pack selection here it's all x y stuff a lot of fates collide steam siege evolutions i mean the evolutions is nice but it's still full price at i believe 31 once again they have the true steel collection box let's see if maybe this one has team up inside of it yes see this one right here has team up so you want to make sure that even though you've seen a box plenty of times that you're checking what packs are inside look what i found right over here a furious fist two pack now when we recorded this video last time at this exact same location we found furious fist this is the only one however that i see when it comes to xy stuff if you find stuff around furiousfist's flashfire xy basa definitely definitely pick it up if these boxes right here were on clearance or just a little bit cheaper i would definitely highly recommend them but they are still full price a lot of great stuff inside of it especially for the promos alone but celestial storm right up there we got crimson invasion we got sun and moon based at evolutions a lot of good choices inside this pack along with those promos but still full price so i'm gonna pass right now i've really been talking highly about that true steel collection box and you know what i'm gonna do i'm gonna go ahead and pick one up even though we grabbed one the last time we did one of these episodes i think i gotta go with another one i just love it so much i think we got a good variety it's time to head home breaking family we packs we got at the target that we stopped at and i don't know about you uh but it's getting a little bit more difficult to find just darkness ablaze booster packs like these i don't know what your area looks like but my area getting a little bit harder to find let me know what your area looks like down in the comment section down below we also found this furious fist two pack which if you saw episode one we found one as well now we found one in episode two so will we find one in episode three it's looking like it's becoming a trend but we will open this up in today's pokemon opening we also got the true steel premium collection box as well as the porygon z gx box the legends of johto gxbox really really love this one excited about that also extreme value and then last but not least just for laughs in case you've never seen one opened up before here is a detective kit mystery box this is packaged by a third party company as you see right there on your screen i'm not a fan of these i'm not gonna lie i am definitely not a fan of these so let's go ahead open it up first uh it does include one plush two booster packs one detected pack and one coin and then right here it says look for this this is the key word randomly inserted psa eight first edition cards so we we see right here a uh a charizard psa eight first edition which uh this would be thousands thousands of dollars if uh if one of these is actually out there in this box i haven't known of anybody to actually pull one uh but that's i'm not saying it's not out there i'm just saying nobody knows if anybody's ever pulled one so uh let's go ahead and open this up this does go for about twenty dollars if you do enjoy a good mystery and maybe a chance at that right there it says this and there's a picture of this so i would assume it's that one if you want a chance at that then uh you might want to pick this up all right here we go we have a okay so just a random just a random pikachu plush nothing wrong with that at all honestly this was different than the first one i got i think the first one i got was a detective pikachu uh but this one is actually made by wicked cool toys jazz jazzwears is doing a phenomenal phenomenal job with the uh the pokemon license right now and we got a cosmic eclipse another cosmic eclipse and a detective pikachu pack and there is the coin right there as you see on the cover it did show an ultra prism but unfortunately mine didn't have ultra prism inside of it nor did it have that psa-8 um charizard i wonder if it exists out there it's got to exist somewhere right all right there's our detective pikachu pack right there and the code card for it you've seen those opened up before you can definitely still find detective pikachu products in stores you probably even saw a bunch in today's uh video when we went out and about at the very start so let's go ahead and go into cosmic eclipse and see what that has to offer we have ourselves a swirlix a woo bat fly away wilbet we got a duck not a psyduck but still a duck energy golduck not as good as a psy duck here across cottony going into a silvally gx ultra rare all right so already already we are starting off with an ultra rare starting off strong starting all strong right up there inside the vip section the very important pokemon card section okay let's go into our second cosmic eclipse pack which is kind of stuck in there you see that that's stuck in there it's like glued there we go all right now that the cardboard is in a million pieces let's see what's inside of this cosmic eclipse booster pack of course charizard in breaks in rainbow rare is inside of this set uh definitely one of the chase cards that people are after for uh cosmic eclipse energy i'll put that right back there professor oak how you doing canto vibes and a hollow rare blasphalon not too bad when it comes to the booster packs twenty dollars you probably could have got yourself a three pack and only spent about 13 14 so and it just depends on if you want the plush or not so let's go ahead and go into our darkness ablaze booster packs see if maybe a charizard is inside of there now the whole point of the the series what pokemon cards should i buy is uh essentially me showing you what i look for when i go out there and uh any information that you can get from this series and apply to your own hunting and searching techniques um that's awesome that's awesome what i'm i'm what i'm not saying in this video is to do exactly this um i'm just trying to give you some tips of how i look for things and hopefully you can apply that to how you will go about looking for pokemon cards and what pokemon cards should i buy my main piece of advice is buy what you like buy what you enjoy so if you like crimson invasion and steam siege go for it it's your collection so get whatever you want uh if you're going after chase cards you know obviously a lot of people like going after the charizards then you know you're going to want to look for those burning shadows the unbroken bonds the darkness ablaze um what a cosmic eclipse hidden fates champions paths you're going to want to look for all of that kind of stuff so you know obviously charizard's always going to be a chase card and if you're looking at it from a value standpoint then obviously charizard always holds its value so that's a kind of a good route to go with if you're looking at it from that standpoint zamasunta now i do enjoy this box uh where's that code card out i want to give you the code card oh we still have more darkness ablaze so we'll get to that we got sword and shield darkness ablaze evolutions more darkness ablaze team up and burning shadows and there is the code card for that one whoosh i'll put that right over there and of course we do have the pin and the figure so there is a zamasunta and a zasian version so depending on which one you want that's the one you go after but like i said earlier in the video some of them do come with cosmic eclipse over team up so if you're looking for team up which team up very difficult to find right now very very difficult to find honestly burning shadows is easier to find than uh than team up right now true pinch jigglypuff but that doesn't mean that pokemon won't reprint more and release more team up down the road anything's possible and they just did it with unbroken bonds going into a crowbat v definitely a very very good card to pull from darkness ablaze a very competitive car too so if you're looking for a competitive card crowbat v from darkness ablaze is one to go with there you go there's a code card put it right over there um all right we have our true steel box let's go ahead and start with evolutions now within just the past week alone evolution's booster boxes have started rising to 270 290 sold those are sold listings on ebay so evolutions is definitely climbing in value and uh climbing and maybe rarity as well even though it's not crazy hard to find it's going to keep getting that way we're seeing this trend go up up up up so um it's definitely going to get a more sought after as time goes by poliwag going into a hollow rare mew now of course evolutions is uh kind of like a reprint of base set so if you're not able to afford a vintage base set booster pack then um then evolutions is your next uh your next safe and fun way to go if you kind of want to open up some of that base set stuff then then evolutions is a good alternative alternative that's the word i was looking for but i'll play paris waving hi larvitar why are you looking at me that's what larvatar's thinking i i make up like random stories i have no idea i just make up random stories for the pokemon cards powerful energy we have a clang double dairy queen going into a wigglytuff waving high now if you saw episode one of what pokemon cards should i buy we ended up pulling the rainbow rare resharam and charizard gx from a kangaskhan gx box and i was telling you do not pass up on those kangaskhan gx boxes because the pack selection was phenomenal and for 20 you were getting a great deal and obviously as you saw earlier in the video when we went out and about we saw no kangaskhan gx boxes because people are realizing those are good boxes and i'm glad everybody's realizing that golurk for the rare whether people were taking my word or they were just realizing it for themselves either way i don't care i'm just glad people are realizing that was a good box sword and shield base set up next of course there is some gold cards in here gold zasian and gold zamasunta inside of sword and shield base set mudbray not a hard set to find definitely very uh very easy to find right now manting crushing hammer switch lantern and intellion now one thing i like to remind people is you know sets start to climb in value um climb in rarity and you know team up released not that long ago and one of the hardest sets one of the hardest modern sets to find right now um but just because you can't find it right now doesn't mean you won't be able to find it a month two months three months or even a year down the road um my thought is that as long as there's there's a demand for it i think pokemon is going to make sure it's on the shelves i mean hidden fates hidden face is a great example i mean we've seen you know hidden face was released august of last year and we're still seeing reprints and releases of hidden fate so um and we just saw it with unbroken bonds ultra prism so it's very uh i i would think very much so that we'll probably see that with team up as well so pokemon wants to make sure that everybody's included and is able to get a hold of this stuff which is uh which my guess is why they are still releasing us about making sure everybody's included right and everybody's having a good time esper pikachu noibat energy kiaway porygon 2 metapod pod korea going into a zuma reel and the code card for that one all right i don't want to wait any longer i got to open up the furious fist two pack right here that i got for ten dollars at a meijer store meyer is in the midwest it is like a uh it's like a walmart very similar to it prices are just a little bit more expensive when it comes to pokemon cards usually about a dollar more and we do have oh if i can get those out we do have some cards right there some foils you know what i'm just going to show you right there we got embar simmer on so i'm going to set those off to the side furious fist of course lucario and heracross is inside of here there are secret rares of both of them mega lucario and mega haircross ex so hopefully i would like to pull that lucario so let's see if we can pull a mega lucario if you find furious fist definitely get that flash fire xy bass set uh even ancient origins i would say are all good sets to pick up if you're able to find them for retail price out in the stores machoke liquor tongue going into a tie rantrum and the code card for that when i show the code cards in every single video i never keep them i always give them to you breaking family because you deserve a good code card in evolutions lost thunder and two unified mines let's go ahead and start off with evolutions porygon z gx box i do love it i think it's a very underrated box that people tend to pass up a lot so uh give porygon z a chance magikarp wheel electabuzz de rousey stario we got the evolution spray brock's grit onyx going into a mewtwo not a hollow mewtwo but just a regular uh regular non-hollow mewtwo lost under another set that in my area very difficult to find ah i'll set that right over there if you did not see yesterday's video go and check it out because uh if you remember on september 19th of this year i went to an auction uh to bid on a box a local auction in person and i took you in the video to the auction to bid on a box of pokemon cards they ended up being full of old and vintage pokemon cards and i got that box for 16 so uh i'll link you up at the very end of today's video if you haven't seen that video but uh in yesterday's video we went through the box and picked out the top 10 pokemon cards from that box that i am going to submit to psa and i even let you choose one of the cards so you can go and figure out how you can vote on which card will get sent to psa energy really jumbo card now this right here is actually only in jumbo card form so there's no actually not a regular version of this card it's just in jumbo jumbo version you get what i'm saying all right let's go a hollow rare polywrath for sun and moon base set okay evolutions it's got charizard on the pack artwork see if we can pull a charizard to uh to add to the collection if you will seal magikarp the seal of approval caterpie gastly revive haunter haunt haunt haunt reverse hollow haunter and oh another mewtwo it is a mewtwo kind of day when it comes to evolutions to ultra prism ultra prism is my favorite sun and moon set was very difficult to find for a long time and then uh pokemon company released some more so thank you so much pokemon company for doing that there's actually displays at target stores right now with ultra prism three packs inside of them if you don't know what i'm talking about go back and watch tuesday's video of this week and i did an entire video on it fan rotom and another silvally we got two silvally gx's both different versions so let's go and sleeve that up right up there inside of the vip section you can see different different silvally so there is the code card for that one we'll put fan rotom right there second ultra prism booster pack so you can see we have a wide variety of things that we opened up and really just buy whatever you want buy whatever makes you happy you can see what i kind of look for i look in those collection boxes see what kind of pack selections are inside of them and definitely uh look at look at the boxes like porygon z when you think like why is porygon z getting a box there's usually good packs in those types of boxes when you when it's like why is that pokemon getting a box that's where they put the good packs right there so there is burning shadows as our last booster pack do me a favor hit the like button and give us some good luck inside of our very last booster pack let's see what we got here
