How I, an Icelander, categorize our nordic siblings: Norweigans don’t get jokes. Danes like dirty jokes. Finns go too far with their jokes. Swedes don’t like jokes. Icelanders are a joke. The Faroese are also a joke, but no one gets it. Greenland says a good joke to Denmark, Denmark proceeds to yell the joke over the class and takes all the credit.

Swede here: I love all our neighbours of course. All of the bickering is just poking fun at stereotypes, very few people really hold actual ill will for their nordic neighbours. Why would they? Norway has stunning nature and is (where I live) our closest brother, Finnish people are resilient and have the best Swedish dialect and sharp intellectuals, Danes are relaxed and continental, Iceland is just, you know, a fairy tale, which is a stereotype I assume they resent, so I'll mention their disproportionately creative music scene and tremendously good taste.

Maybe it was just me, but I thought they were really bad at describing each country and they didn't seem to actually know much about each country?

I think you need to consider every one of these poking-fun-of statement as siblings talking each other down over annoyances or petty stereotypes, but there's still a lot of mutual respect and love between the nordic countries - especially the countries of Scandinavia, which have a great deal of core cultural values in common.

edit: Like, sure Danes and Swedes may consider themselves i.e. their own country the better of the two and the other a thorn in their side in most aspects (especially sports), but we are so much alike in terms of most social economic metrics that we're practically identical twins. Plus, they stole SkΓ₯ne from us, the bastards.

Meatballs Snobs in Stockholm that just go and buy like really fancy champagne and put it down the drain just to show off that they can The most country in the world is the way I would describe it Oh we're good. We're good man. We have nothing to say about us I think they are quite boring actually but the women are super sexy. It's the sexiest women on earth if you ask me A lot of money I guess Yeah I would say expensive! Icelandic people go from Iceland to Norway to work for more money so... Mountains. Snowy mountains. Rich, happy. A little bit behind. Like a little bit stupid Like this all the time! I think stupid but happy. Exactly. No debt. Hygge. Yeah, I would say same! Hygge, design Amazing nature and expensive cigarettes. And just expensive in general Did you know that it's more expensive in Iceland than in Dubai? Very small population Inbreds! That's because of the app The football thing. That's what everyone says to me when they meet Ah you're the country of HOO The next cousin.. beautiful... and gaciers.. WHAT? HOOO! Sauna. I also just love how they say "I love you" because it sounds terrible Licorice! That's licorice.. yeah, but I'm gonna say it in Finnish It's the weird cousin. Weirder, older sibling have to take care of them They're singing and they're always so happy They sound happy. It's kinda like a high-pitched like this.. singy-songy It's really cute This just sounds like strange Danish No! Kind of funny version of Swedish there's someone who is like kind of trying to speak Swedish but then he's like kind of like failing at it Maybe the Swedes are failing at speaking Norwegian It's like they swallow a flute. No matter where they start they will always end higher It sounds like they just woke up and they're lost Everything kind of sounds like cursing also I find with Finnish They say "I love you" with like: Sounds like you're not having any fun. Like all serious all the time Sounds like you're working away through the winter It's like a Norwegian that has a hot potato in their mouth But it's funny because when we're drunk .. when I'm drunk I usually start to sound like a Danish because I can't speak properly anymore Sounds like they're throwing up when they speak You're spitting! Yeah. I'm Danish now! When they speak they sound like elves from Lord of the Rings or something Sounds really old. Elf-like and everything ends with "UR"."UR", whatever you say is "UR" <Fika is an important pasttime here> Sweden! And we're way too proud of it It's not even that big of a deal. You have a cup of coffee and a pastry then sit there and enjoy your little moment That is the Swedish tea-coffee time Why do we think that no one else in the world has coffee? because we have a word for it! Yeah, that's Swedish. FIKA <This country loves their salty licorice> Denmark? Finland I would say It's kinda like typical for Nordics but if we go outside of Nordics, reactions will be much more different I seriously miss this thing I'm actually really excited about this! <This is the smallest populated out of these five countries> ICELAND <Heavy metal is huge here (They had a heavy metal band on Eurovision> Uh Finland <They introduced salmon sushi to Japan> Norway. Of course! Norway? Yeah. It's the only country we haven't mentioned yet <Gay relationships have been legalized since 1944> I will say Denmark Sweden has been at least more progressive. Is it right? SWEDEN! Is it? YES <There are more saunas than cars here> Finland. Which is a crazy fact! Is it really? FINLAND! Finland. I think it's also true for sheep in Iceland. We have more sheep than people Denmark It's Denmark Yeah, what is that? Cozy. Cozy times! <This country takes father's name, adds - dottir/son to create a last name> Iceland. We used to do that in Denmark actually Some still do. It's not that popular, but.. yeah <They love watching slow TV that includes boats, trains in real time> What was that? What? It was a Norwegian thing, right? It's Noway! Norway. I told you they were stupid! I told you They're watching a boat for 12 hours Everyone was just watching trains pass through the whole Norway for hours hey have too much time The cool thing is so many people actually showed up at the locations to kinda be on camera cause it was live so I think it was more about that
