150 000 miles on this rolls-royce and if i was in the market for one this would be the one i would buy let's take a look why [Music] so you guys just recently seen a video on this car where we fixed a fuel leak we had quite a bit of part and that has been solved everything is leak free as far as the fuel now this vehicle is a very high miles rolls royce 150 000 miles like i just mentioned but there are cars out there that have high miles that are better maintained and in better condition than cars with a quarter of the miles and we're going to prove that today i don't know who had this car before the current owner but they took very and i'm going to put a capital v on that very good care of this vehicle if it needed work it got it they didn't even ask about the price they just got it done we're gonna take a look around it look inside because it's beautiful these rolls royces are very beautiful then we'll take a look underneath and then we'll do a comparison to another vehicle that's in the shop that is a newer car but doesn't mean it guarantees that it's in excellent shape not many cars today that you can play the harp on their grill because it's made out of solid steel like this rolls royce is one thing you're going to find as we walk around is that if i didn't tell you how many miles is on this car you would never know you would think this is a 20 000 mile car there's no dents the paint is immaculate the wheels are nice and good shape the chrome is not pitted or peeling it has fairly new hand-cooked tires on it all the bright work in the chrome is very bright polished and clean look at the paint guys as we go down the side it's immaculate very beautiful do you like this color mrs wizard it is a very nice just you know kind of a silver metallic gray i think it's very beautiful here's the back end of the car again the lenses aren't faded there's nothing wrong there's no damage or cracks which can be on these cars they get heat they sit out in the sun and these get cracked have little micro cracks in them this one doesn't this is a silver spur 3 as it says denotes here look at this guys on the key on the back it's a solid metal piece that covers over it amazing there's a few items they use to keep the car clean and keep everything in good running order there's even an umbrella carpets are like new everything's very clean in here and there is a battery switch if you have one of these cars and you're going to store it for a long time and put the battery tender on the battery and turn the main switch off same story on this side guys no dents no scratches no runs bright chrome everything's very nice and very clean let's take a look under the bonnet there is the six and three-quarter liter rolls-royce warhorse they call the old war horse because this thing's been around since the 50s literally as far as the architecture of it the last time you guys saw this car it was all in pieces the whole upper end was apart it is all back together and running beautifully now we took care of the fuel leak which is the only leak that it had and now it has no leaks it runs like a top everything's clean under here everything looks good we are done with the engine mechanical work okay car wizard so you're saying that this is the better buy than a newer or another cheaper high-end luxury car one thing to keep in mind is miles doesn't always tell the full store you guys remember huvi's garage where he had that bentley turbo r and it was a nightmare i think it only had 40 or 50 000 miles on it and we just replacing parts over and over and over because it had been neglected 40 or 50 000 miles and the trunk was full of service records and yet everything was just falling apart on the car he finally had to ditch it because it kept just adding up and adding up it got so high where he said enough i'm done this one has way more miles but is way nicer so how can a higher mileage car actually be a better buy than a lower mileage car because when things did go wrong along the way they fixed it right they didn't just fix one little piece here and one little piece there somebody who used to own this car said oh there's a problem with the fuel system or replace all of it then i don't want any more trouble just do all of it and when you do that to a car things hold up they look better it runs better and is in a lot better shape one of the key things when you see high miles on a car like this it means it's been driven a lot obviously with the amount of miles that it has on it it's not been sitting in someone's climate controlled storage with a battery tender on it for literally two and three and four years at a time that destroys cars hundred fifty thousand miles doesn't destroy this car sitting for five years would destroy this car okay so car wizard we can see in the background that there's the million mile dodge ram how many miles could this go it could go two three four hundred thousand miles if the person continues to maintain it the way it has been maintained all of its life the fact that it's been kept up so well like it has is going to save you money in the in the long run because you can buy this car and say i don't have to do a full hydraulic mineral oil system redo because somebody's already done that in the past it's been done just like the million miles cummins back there a dodge ram there are some dodge rams on the road guys with only 200 000 miles that i would skip i would turn my back on them i'd be like oh hell no i would buy that one with a million miles before i bought the piece of trash with 200 000 miles on it it all depends on maintenance and how the car was cared for and also not maintenance only but how it was treated there's trucks like that have been been on a farm they've been beat to hell literally that one hasn't let's let mrs wizard show you guys around the interior well ladies gents here we are as you see 152 000 miles not lying not digital that is a roll around kind of odometer and it's not you know weird miles like that uh super bird had this has been connected the whole time so that's it and this thing is been a garage princess even though she's been driven she's been very well maintained in here as well as under the hood and under the carriage look up there it's an amazing shape that leather is in perfect shape no cracks no tears looking fabulous the wood all of the veneer is in excellent excellent shape has lovely opera pulls for our vents we can also you look in there you can see it close and open you can adjust where these turn and pivot so lots of controls that are really cool simple controls for our hvac system and as we scroll down we can see that we've got lovely controls for the seat as well for heated seats for their adjustment as well so it's just a really really classy car and even look at the wood inlay here not just solid wood but we've got wood lay inlay with an inlay with an inlet that's a really cool feature to match the gray of the outside we do have a gray interior as well and the leather is you know amazing shape no rips no tears the back seat same case i mean it looks like nobody's ever sat back there and you know what in some cases nobody ever does sit in the backseat of cars if it's just a couple that owns it if we look up at the headliner it's got a nice center ridge but again it's an amazing shape it is a nice woven fabric but it's in you know no marks no tears again not sagging in the slightest as you can tell again this is a classy vehicle look at this door jamb look how wide this is this thing's you know we thought that that 500 sel was a tank this thing is an absolute tank look how deep the doors are when this thing closes it is more like a vault and again if we look at our door we've got more of those different wood inlays we've got four different kinds of wood here as well this is a really cool car i'm curious let's see what it looks like underneath all right well let's get started on the underneath we'll start with our radiator which is nice and dry no leaks going on there sway bar links look to be in good shape here's the links and here's the bushings those both are in good shape nothing loose there the oil pan is nice and dry steering rack is nice and dry brakes are about halfway used up but they're still good nothing loose nothing leaking you can see here they have twin brake calipers they have two brake circuits so if one were to fail you can still stop go look at this side here's an accumulator sphere it holds pressure for the hydraulic system brakes look good there nothing loose another place that's commonly wet on these old rolls-royces and bentleys is right here where the brake system is there's all kinds of valves and things inside of here and you'll see fluid literally running out of this pan this one never has had fluid running out it's nice and dry that's always a good thing on these here's our general motor transmission which like i've mentioned before they have an electronic shift this little box right here all it does is shift there's no mechanical linkage it's all electronic this does the shifting for you does have a nice thick undercoating and probably somebody in the past at the factory put a nice heavy undercoating underneath here's our drive shaft and we're back to our differential which is also nice and dry the rear brakes are nice and dry the pads are about fifty percent as well here's our hydraulic suspension ram no leaks same story over here on this ram there's our brakes at 50 percent there are tons of these that i've looked at even newer models bentley azures and things that have 20 and 30 000 miles and every hydraulic component is literally pouring oil out of them there's engine oil leaks there's steering rack leaks and they have almost 10 percent the miles of this thing and they're trashed they're ruined they're ruined because it would cost as much as the whole car is worth to go through the whole system this one no leaks yet with 150 000 miles you can tell this has been well engineered but not like the one we're going to take a look at let's move over there so this is a 2018 buick encore we did a video not too long ago on one of these that had had been through three or four turbos this one is no exception although it's not really related to the rolls-royce as far as being in the same family of cars it's proof that a newer version or a newer car doesn't guarantee anything let's go walk around to the front and see what magic mike's up to so what you up to magic mike oh hey just working on this buick encore working on getting this turbo off of here uh it looks like we found that the oil seals were leaking on this turbo we did a few other testing just to make sure that it was in fact the turbo if you remember a couple videos ago we did a volkswagen beetle where the pcv diaphragm was leaking on the crank case so i wanted to check that on these cars they do have an issue and i just wanted to verify that that wasn't my issue once i had that confirmed i took the boroscope and i put it down inside the turbo and i could see that there was a whole bunch of oil build up inside of the turbo so that was what confirmed it for me and now i'm just working on pulling it off we've got a new one ordered a new turbo we got the go ahead for this customer but when this car was pulled in it was just smoking like a freight train and like you said it could have been a pcv valve it could have been some other oil usage but we separated the turbo exhaust from the turbo and actually got a boar scope camera like he mentioned in there and it was just an oil bath completely just spraying oil so this is a very common problem on these cars and it can be very expensive to replace it's so common in fact let me show you something this is world pack where i get parts from and that number right there a hundred says that's how many turbos they have in stock i have never worked on a car in my life magic mike where they have a hundred turbos in stock that's incredible this engine must have been used in a few other different cars as well that tells you right there that that's a problem on this vehicle one of my mentors where i used to work would actually call a dealership sometimes and he wouldn't ask you can't ask them what's a common problem on this car or that car but what you can say is do you sell a lot of these do you sell a lot of turbos on the buick encore oh yeah we keep a hundred in stock okay there you go that's very likely what the problem is there have been other vehicles i've bought turbos for and they have ten in stock or two in stock but i've never seen a hundred that's insane it's insane it's a very very common issue on these chevy 1.4 turbos all right well i won't keep you from your work i'll let you get that turbo off of there we've got the new one ordered and we'll get this car back on the road sounds good all right back in the old days in 1930s 40s 50s buicks were really a top of the line car no they weren't a cadillac or a rolls royce but they were considered what's called a banker's car it was somebody who had money not necessarily cadillac money but they they owned a buick it was a really good car that's not so anymore they're really really not that great of a car unfortunately it's going to be expensive bill on that but we'll get it taken care of and get that thing on the road again the moral of the story of this video is sometimes the higher mileage car is the one to go with because it's been maintained so well so if you're curious what kind of tools we use to work on this rolls royce or the turbo on the encore check my amazon affiliates link in the description below we get a small cut and we really appreciate it make sure to hit the subscribe button because we got more videos to come thanks for watching [Music] then we'll have mike you can just be like you're working on it michael where you are but oh wait you're going to pretend that you're working on it yeah that's why i said he is hard acting for him he's really good at acting at that that's why i get paid the big bucks yeah you're a great actor thank you all right
