What is ZDDP?

we've all purchased motor oil but do we really know what's in the bottle base oils are given us the thickness we need to separate surfaces but that doesn't do it all Gale the other part of the story is the chemicals that are put into the motor oil zddp is representative of a molecule that does an excellent job when the base oils get too thin the zddp is going to kick in and act actually create a sacrificial wear layer and then make sure that those little asperities that are sticking up the micro differences in the surface of the metals don't touch cuz when they touch they micro they microweld zddp um people think about it as zinc and but these are the real functional molecules the sulfur and the phosphorus are the functional molecules you can't just have oil you got to have the chemistry too
