What IS This? We Found a Strange Scroll While Shark Tooth Hunting in a Florida Creek

hello guys paleo chris i'm out today with bree wild kyle and derek the rock master derek has invited us to come out to the spot that derek found a little while back that has crazy amazing shark teeth here shark teeth it's up a different age in the places that myself and kyle normally hunt so i'm excited to get out here today to possibly add some new species to my collection that i have never found before um there's a lot of rare stuff here it's gonna be like 90 degrees today so i'm glad to be doing something where there's at least a little bit of water let's uh start walking down this creek right now and get to the first spot we're working our way up to the first spot and find some great stuff here let's see what we can get i like you kyle you're a fossil knight now with the grand fossil flap yes guys do you see over there on that branch let's zoom in a little bit that is an owl sitting there looking at us our walk was already worth it we're seeing some cool wildlife yes he is there another one oh there's another owl over here kyle says there's that owl that kyle just spotted we could hear him talking to each other oh my goodness now yeah it is talking to us so let's get out of his creek man oh he clicked oh he's looking at that other one he's talking he thought about flying [Music] oh where are you going buddy beautiful animal oh my goodness yeah he's gorgeous check these things out there's brie for scale look at the flowers they've got honey bees there's a honey honeybees uh i don't know what those are i want to say ginger but i don't know i mean that was my first impression but this is if you guys know what these are let us know down in the comments below there's uh the leaves they're huge i look at the flowers i love this thing i've never seen it before it could be some type of ginger but oh man it's huge i don't know is it good i gotta try it smell that that's did not what i expected it's not even really super sweet no nice okay let's keep on walking treasure okay so brie and myself we are going to go down this way kyle and derek they believe they they sense the magic down that way so we're going to separate for a little while we'll do a little bit of hunting and then we'll meet back up and see um see if you guys have some crazy stuff for you let's do it all right let's go i feel the most amazing gravel ever right here oh yeah that's a scoop would be sad if i break my shovel i didn't bring the spare oh my goodness this is an old shovel don't i have one you have yeah it's right behind you you have a shovel it's not the shovel i would have to steal that from you if i break the shovel that looks good a nice healthy little scoop right there there's a skeet treasure i see bone already in that oh yeah this is some nice hard pack gravel right here eat it i'm getting it eater i'm getting it i just heard somebody say got the best chocolate milk chocolate milk okay looks so munchies and crunchy helpers thinking [Applause] oh it's like compacted clay sand yeah it's a mixture it's kind of exciting magic trick here to get those out look in there is that the chocolate milk that we're talking about maybe it's not very chocolatey maybe they got into some nastier stuff all right let's take this over here to let's do it so there's oh something smells terrible i don't know what that is oh god do you smell it too lots of tiny little teeth everywhere like that lots of them i like the rings on this bone yeah a little that's dugong rib bone you can tell by how solid it is it's like growth rings freaking trees every time it rains they get tree gongs here we got a piece of a maybe a sand tiger no i don't know what that is hard to tell without that root let's see what else we have here eat it that's a little sandpaper nice one pointy wrong pointy okay that's a good sign for this place definitely a different exposure here i can tell from what derek's been finding in this area as well as what we're already finding that this is not the typical shark teeth that we find all right guys that's it for that screen bree is gonna dump it out here in the water oh there we go all right and now we are ready to fill that thing up once again little baby what oh the little the little bugs on the water look at those things see them all [Applause] all right let's fill that thing up i like those okay so i can tell that the gravel's been accumulating right here from like flooding a big pile of it right near this deep hole it probably got swept out of here and piled up so we're just going to scoop some of this and see if this is the stuff that we want to hunt or if we have to keep moving oh it's going to sink yeah i'm trying to let it wait oh perfect i'm going to put it no hey i feel it are you feeling it now i got a little overboard with how much i put in here oh there's so many leaves do the leaf magic i bet there's gonna be some glasses in this hurry hurry oh my goodness that is a piece of an angus side and shark tooth oh my goodness oh look at that snaggle dude oh my god an angus titan that guy's i can't express to you guys how rare this shark tooth is this shark tooth it's an ancestor to the megalodon but it's not a super old ancestor to the megalodon like the ones we normally find in florida so we find something called the arriculatus sometimes but this is an angustine so much more rare i cannot believe that and this way and this this one's crazy too look at that tooth it's so boring i hear it i feel it now show it i am trying shovel don't you break get it don't you break shovel there hurry i'm gonna squat down with you it's gonna be time for a snack soon i'm getting hungry [Music] okay she's starting to sink i got one hand on here okay okay uh okay i feel like here let me sift this okay it's gonna be a big screen yeah we'll move this over here i'm gonna sift this i like that we have this small mesh because we're not missing anything even the tiny weird things and there's really weird stuff like i like the small things they're different yeah this exposure is actually a pretty uncommon rare thing so there could be very rare species you can even find species that are previously unknown to science when you're in an exposure this uncommon so in the smaller they are the more they're overlooked too exactly so we really want to make sure that we're getting every tiny little thing and we'll try to identify them anything we can't identify we can send photos to the museum florida museum of natural history and you never know you can discover some crazy things doing this let's get some we're gonna put more in don't look don't look don't look don't look you can let them look you won't look okay wait we gotta spoof it all over a little tiger shark tooth right there let's see he's broken that's a shark tooth i can't even tell just just the root all right i'll let you film here yeah tiny barracuda mini cuda baby cuda come on oh look at this show oh i like that that's crazy look at that pattern too planet pattern that's that's a cool little fossil oh another tooth gentle oh it's over here my friends there's a lot of bugs out here in this here creek oh there's a pretty one oh look at him it's hard looking through the camera i don't think that's the one i saw earlier when i looked down well okay that's another like sand tiger or something right there i think yeah nice that's a good little handful of teeth already from that one screen and we're barely through it i can't believe the amount of stingray like if i were to just pick up the stingray plates like three four i think five like there's so many of them actually let's keep some don't know why not do it look at this one right here my friends so it's going to be a little difficult to tell but that's a piece of a rostrum from like a sawfish did you get another one right there that's what i thought it was like a big berry oh yeah yeah so there were lots of little saw fishies out here environment back in the day all right get in there what kind of fish tooth is that painful yeah i don't want to be i don't want that fish chomping on my leg that's incredible that's a crazy looking little tooth all right we'll put that in here we gotta be careful with that that's fragile yeah fragile what's your problem boy it's so bright it's so bright guys i am starving and luckily for me can you guys see up there let's go climb up here hold on oh it's way down there let's go wait how'd you get up here bri already look at this you're fancy look at that it's an orange oh those look great up there um this could still be really good though i'm going to try it i'm going to try that one okay get it oh gosh oh the stick fell get down you can get it get down oh there goes one no one that's it oh oh so good oh my goodness no are you kidding me that's amazing wait i want one of those good stuff like it's a smacking okay here i can do this which one which one am i going for i don't know that one they take a second all right they smell so good i could use the if it was a little bit longer i could use the v of the stick it's too bad it's not long how many times are you going to ruin your eye today oh i my goodness wild oranges i can't help it do it is it good it's a seed it is tart but it is good all right it's my turn gotta do the same this right here my friends is fresh squeezed orange juice oh it's a little bit sour but that is so good yeah that's the stuff right there [Music] i've been revitalized by the fresh oranges and now i'm ready to find some more stuff hopefully a killer angostide and shark tooth like this big that would be nice regular they do get like four inches over four inches i want that that would be a crazy sharp tooth but most of them are smaller here oh that looks healthy weird it's a big blob and we'll see what that looks like all right comes another one looks good rock out yeah here oops i splashed your water it destroyed my water right off the bat that's a piece of a dugong skull cap right there broken oh yeah yeah yeah another little one of those saw sharks saw fish thingies broken oh look right there okay let me grab it oh my goodness it is in great shape a giant sandpaper that's amazing it was intact no he's so pretty look at his little spoon i gotta zoom in hold on hold on hey focus yeah that's in great shape oh that's an amazing tooth here take the child we walked up here to check on kyle and derek and these guys have been finding some crazy stuff look at that handful of teeth that that that makes me sick that is a little squalodon tooth type of early whale very rare i don't know if you guys can really tell the colors on that but it's crazy looking i think the teeth you guys are getting here maybe even more colorful colorful than the ones we're getting down that way derek oh look at that that's a good-sized snaggletooth right there the color though yeah yeah kyle just dropped a nice fossil whoa that's awesome man you guys are fine that's contortis that can tortoise is really pretty oh yeah and then look at the white color on that yeah awesome i like the prune fingers like this authentic fossil hunter hand right like kyle well mine aren't as proof kyle have you been working less hard in there look away look at this baby handful yeah but you know what he has a shovel now i don't i've been no that's true that's true yeah derek derek um with his superhuman strength has just just demolished this shovel i mean they don't make them strong enough for derrick they don't call me the rock master for reason that's right rock things down because he's got rock hard muscles that's right so we've decided to go on a little bit of a walk because we're sick of just digging in one place we want to explore this area we have brewery up there kyle back there joining us here in a minute watch a little bit and see what we see big magnolia tree here i like it no flowers what is this thing oh i hear kyle's coming i remember i like it tree stars they really look like trees no no no that was this one that's more that's it right there do not eat things you don't know uh i didn't know this i'm not allowed to eat things that i everywhere we go we find baby dolls or scary demented stuffed animals i don't think it's gonna be okay kyle i don't think it's okay either i think it's probably already passed sorry buddy he's got a hard time but he'll be hopefully open guys we hear some crazy running water right up this way so it's not what we were hoping for but it may have still washed some stuff out here so we just spotted something weird there's like some rolled up papers here that look tied up we murkied it up a little bit yeah there's writing there's writing it's a message what if it's a message to us if it's a message to us i will run out of this i will run i will never come back let's uh let's go see what it says real quick i don't know i've never seen anything like that in a place like this like that's that is that's like the paper has silver on the side i don't know why that would be the case legit paper fancy let's check it out okay all right it's time to find out what this is oh my gosh guys oh no man oh my god i'm kind of scared what if this is like some creepy i am oh no man i'm afraid right now okay we're getting there i don't know if i want to hold this i'm going to be cursed is this like some spell thing dude that's a lot of writing dude oh that's such a good hand well there's numbers wait whoa whoa whoa why is it numbered one roberto boliva he is with we no we are together in someone's just like loves their husband a whole lot and wrote it a million times on a piece of baby i don't know if anyone knows maybe they could let us know i feel like maybe we shouldn't mess with this anymore i feel like we should return it to its uh yeah i think we should tie it back up kind of feel like we shouldn't have messed with it in the first place oh pretty sure we're not going to survive at least it was in a murder conference we're going to tie it back up and we're going to wrap it good we're going to move it around we're going to leave it where we found it yeah that's my finger because his finger shall be bound forever so this thing is i mean this is biodegradable it's like fiber plant stuff and paper so we're just going to put it right back where somebody may have just intended it to be we don't really know why that's here if you guys have any idea why somebody would write the same line a million times and then tie it up and throw it in a creek maybe let us know but uh we're just gonna leave it here we don't feel like that's something we should take with us let's start walking back derrick didn't come with us so we gotta go see what he's found look at that owl that's the same one we saw before i believe it's what beautiful something like what kyle says he smells rotten food i wish i could smell any food we've almost made it back to derek right now i can see him over here all right derek just picked up oh that's a really nice one there type of tiger sharks you say contortis i think they changed the genus of those things recently they're phys now kyle has a vine here and he's made a lesson oh gosh i'm about to be lassoed oh he missed me he missed me again oh my goodness oh yeah kyle you wouldn't make a very good oh you got me he got me come on kyle taking me on a walk here i can't get enough all right i'm free of my leash all right so we've all merged forces here there kyle myself marie behind the camera and we have a very short time before it starts getting dark so we're going to do our best pull a few more cool fossils out of this little spot oh that's some sloppy stuff right here all right we have another full screen here perhaps one of the last screens of the day because it's getting fairly late oh that's a cool little sawfish tooth thing there i thought it was a leaf i was gonna throw it out let's carry this over here oh it's deep right there careful for the mutt hole oh look what bree just got look at that snaggle oh zuma zumi zumi oh that color is unbelievable i like that a lot i got little tools over here now it's nice as a breeze check it out come here yeah shark tooth got something right there i i'm just so in love with the snaggle snaggletoo shark teeth from this creek they are different my friends i know i've said that many times but they just don't look like the normal ones that i find it's a slightly different species i believe look at these weird little lumpkins on this lumpkins here you can hold these thank you oh yeah derek said he summons what there an angry in the next scoop okay the next scoop that's in one shoulder i'm gonna bless him hold on hey hold on hold on hold on okay okay all right i don't know exactly what's happening here kyle's feeling the power wait a minute come on wait oh i see all that clay that's a nice clay let's see is that the one is that the angie scoop it's in there is there anything in there it's supposed to be an angry hell you summoned a i mean you some of the shark tooth kyle that's impressive we're gonna summon wow there that's the inky that no it's nice yes that's an angled shark tooth yep it is yep are you sure yep yep yep how do we how do we know for sure because i know it get back and dig dig kyle he's being a food face hey that's a valuable fossil guys it's about time to get out of here but derek he can't pull himself away he's gonna do one final screen here it could be the one we'll find out here soon at him wrestling with that gravel oh yeah it is it's actually very dark out here right now there's one tooth that's it let's see is this the final tooth of the day final two hour day that's it let's just take one little look real quick one final look the final look anything nothing that's it there's where we're ending it guys right there good job so here's a bunch of the stuff that we found today i forgot to lay it out at the creek to show you guys so i just wanted to briefly show you guys a bunch of this stuff beautiful color this location lots of beautiful teeth cool little shell impressions these little sawfish rostrums that we find out is from a type of sawfish called the noxipristus which is the nice tooth sawfish and there's cool little like scratch marks all over them that show something about their behavior when they were alive something they were doing um we got little verts and all kinds of other cool stuff a lot of things new to my collection those uh sawfish options are brand new to my collection and a few of these uh shark teeth these are super uncommon i've never really found those before bree found that one but i found uh this one right here they're both to the same species so i hope you guys enjoyed
