What is it like to live in China in 2021: Our $600 dollar/month apartment in Suzhou

[Music] a lot of people have been asking us why haven't you been making videos about your life in sudo well we are back and we are celebrating 10 000 subscribers so we are bringing you into our house so first let's go and take a look at the beautiful city of suzhou with our brand new drone [Music] the first stop is just this moon harbor it's a very beautiful place we usually have our romantic dates here actually the first night that noelia arrived to sudo i took her to a restaurant over there which is a very nice indian restaurant i wanted to impress her take a look at this place it's insane and this city they started building this in 1994 the chinese government realized that singaporean and the government at singapore they were doing a very good job planning cities and building them isn't that crazy like they actually had the singapore government building sudo well not sujo the industrial park but it's where we live so this is very special to us because we're bringing you to our home this is the place that we've been calling home for over a year this is where we spend the pandemic this is where we were quarantined and we've been really happy here guys so it's a very special occasion we just discovered inner drone shots that this uh opera house thing it has the shape of a moon [Music] max is the one that uses the drone i'm a little bit afraid of that but look at this here's the restroom we love our favorite restaurant by far and i'm sorry guys it's indiana we love chinese food and it might not be like the best option when you're in china but i can tell you guys this place is delicious we've figured out a lot of chinese people they find it like kind of sour i think but we love it pretty good we love it you should try it guys sometime yeah and so far we're going that place we call it the wheel of fortune in spanish i'm not sure what you call it in english or chinese we can call it like the suzhou version of the london eye the sujo eye we're taking you to the sudo [Music] the whole life in the suzhou industrial park revolves around the lake like people like to go and you can actually run around the lake there's like a super nice street and a lot of people do it's very pedestrian very pedestrian friendly what's even more amazing is how close you can get to the water there's no like nothing restricting you to jump in and sway yeah and at first i was like maybe i can just go in and swim take a dive we would never do it in december because it's cold as hell which is pretty ironic okay but there's actually some like signs here that says that you cannot swim guys so mayo bamfa so maybe we should change the name from suzhou industry park industrial from suzhou industrial park to suzhou pedestrian and ebike friendly and bicycle bicycle friends friendly whatever a park park left behind every time we just bring the drone up there's a bunch of people gathering around to see the shots [Music] when you see this kind of buildings i think you would never guess that you're in china the architecture is pretty western in this part of town with times square until you see these kind of restaurants right here chinese people are adopting more and more western culture it's becoming a mix and as you can see right here we have santa claus it's becoming a great mix between western and chinese culture and that really represents what the industrial park has become nowadays there used to be a lot of western people but after the after the covid thing hit well we lost a lot of people [Music] maybe you're asking why are you like going around so much we want to see your house well our house is not that big guys we live in china the housing prices are really expensive so we have a small apartment and this is our playground just going around the city and showing you chinese culture our lives and this is a big part of our lives [Music] by the way how do we go home we love our e-bikes this is mine this is my big faithful friend and we're gonna ride it to the sunset actually away from the sunset this is my ebike guys also known as max previous e-bike it's black it's uh a little bit broken because i'm not a very good driver you might be wondering why didn't you give your girlfriend the new one well you want to see why it's not that side or is there is there something in that side okay yeah so there is no need to show up but as i said guys like e-bikes in china are awesome you don't have to spend money like charging is free in my company it's free in a lot of places you can find it all around town and if you do have to pay it's around one yuan this is the best transportation method here in china it's very convenient and [Music] cheap [Music] this is where we live it's called sun city it's a pretty nice place as you can see we have a nice fountain and it has a pool we've never used it because of the virus but we have a pool we made it just in time for dinner and this is our compound and that's also one of the reasons that we love living in china we can actually tell you where we live you might think that's like a normal thing but uh in our country we wouldn't be saying like i live here this is my house but here it's okay i think are you gonna kidnap me what we have behind us is what we call a hive which is a place where you can pick up your packages the quality which is a packaging company just gets here puts the package there and sends you a code that's a pretty smart way to handle quality or delivery you just come here to the hive just scan the code and the door opens then you get your package pretty convenient isn't it we have two one for kwadi and one special for vegetables right behind me and he has like little nice vegetable shots there so this is not that chinese people leave their garbage on the street it's just that there's a recycling center right here and you can separate the garbage they they have people that work here and do that it's something new but since day one they are doing like super good with this [Music] we've finally arrived we're inside of the community this is the xiao by the way xiaochu is the chinese name for gated community and what i have behind me is not our house we're not reached guys this is like the vip section of the place we live in this river goes through it's not a river it's like a pond it goes through the place we live and i like coming here there's like nice park benches i like coming and reading sometimes meditating but never in the winter because look at me i'm freezing [Music] this is the parking space as you can see there's a bunch of diang dong they're all electric bikes because motorbikes are forbidden here so this is where we would usually park when we have batteries but right now we're out of batteries so we have to go downstairs let me take you down and show you how we charge this [Music] so this is where we charge our bikes as you can see they're numbered and there's a space for everyone this is my bike the red one noelia's bike is this black one right here and we even have my brother's bike and as you can see he's charging in number four this machine surprisingly in china it works with coins you put the coin inside it has to be one um for four hours so you put it inside and you push the button off of your number and then it starts charging this is super strange because what we usually do is go and scan a qr code but the one that has a cure code is broken [Music] there's something pretty funny about chinese elevators and that's the publicity all the advertisements here chinese people have like advertisements via qr code so if you're interested in anything you can just scan the code and you go straight to the home page or wherever they want you to go we also have these nice screens we really catchy tunes that are playing continuously throughout the day i remember i was like whistling all the advertisement songs and noelia was like stop it i was going crazy i was like what are you doing what are you singing what are you whistling and he was like [Music] chinese advertisements guys when i came here to china i was like why is everybody pasting right posters on the wall and this is because of chinese new year and this is supposed to bring good luck to the house these are pretty not updated these are from i think 2018 whining one hey before we go in we're gonna ask you to take your shoes off because that's the chinese way we always forget but today we remembered [Music] [Applause] this is where chang lives can you give us a tour of your room no there's not a lot of stuff in cheng's room i have a piano he loves playing piano and he has volleyball his most valuable possession and that's the best part i love this one this is what i love the most the rhyme and this is something that my friends gave me uh let's don't quit suffer now and live the rest of your life as a champion my best friend from college vanessa i love you my best friend from my football team ramiro i love you too and this is from a will smith video i've seen the best things in life are on the other side of terror and that is always true this is where we put our helmets it shouldn't be that this is where we'll have dinner our sofa as you can see xiaomao has destroyed it he hates the sofa and this nice picture here this nice wall nobody really uses this we don't know how to cook noelia sometimes tries i try sometimes but i don't like cleaning it so i i try to avoid it it's a very small kitchen as i told you the best part of suzhou it's outside we actually just putting this here so the first thing you see when you enter is not red so we try to keep it more natural check this out guys we have some nice decoration from our previous lanyard we haven't changed anything so this is bought we bought this we bought this projector on taobao because we wanted to watch movies and we have this blank wall here which is like super cool i bought also like these lights to make it more i find really weird that here in our chinese house and we have like a terrace but guys the terrace is actually also like the laundry room so it's not very appealing it's supposed to have a super nice view but it doesn't because there's clothes there so what's up child you like a room this is our car this is like our baby ciao mixley we have the bathroom here or at least part of the bathroom what do you think about the bathroom this is when you know you are home when you're doing this i mean i'm the only one who eats this so i i think it's okay if i just take the bottle and then start eating straight away shama realized we don't spend much money decorating our homes so he decided it would be a nice idea to do this piece of art he's an artist he doesn't love drugs that's why he's an artist
