What Happens When I Walk Into A Guitar Store?

hi my name is Mary spender and you are watching Tuesday talks and in this week's episode I'm just trying to play guitar and hang out in New York City Tuesday Tuesday Tuesday Tuesday Tuesday toss I could be anything he wants I could get you out of this darkness I'd to be everything I can must be cold but I know a little bit of madness takes away a piece you one of the things to realize when traveling is that most things do not go to plan so things can happen meetings can change you end up not having any time to actually sit down and pick up your guitar my original plan was to go to Rudy's one of my favorite places in the entire world but I'm just gonna have to save that for another day because I went to the completely wrong part of the city so I just Google Maps another guitar shop and there is a guitar center right here so I'm gonna go and have a look so I'm in the time square guitar center and I have never been here before and I knew that I know that it's a change but I really need a little practice and because I forgot my micro crush because my suitcase was full enough as it is so oh my God look at this [Music] I know that this isn't my first time in a guitar Center but obviously they don't have them in England so for me it's kind of a bit of a treat but I I know that it's a big a big chain and but look at these this is very cool and there are so many people outside who are just sitting down playing it's it's a bit like Nam outside of noticed I am gonna try for the first time the Rory Gallagher signature [Applause] [Music] [Music] the difficulty about playing a guitar in a guitar shop is that the guitars are never in the condition that they probably should be to really advertise what they do like I can feel how old the strings are on this thing but I also realize how difficult it is to keep every guitar in check when there are literally it feels like there are thousands in this guitar shop so I totally get it but it's a shame that guitars never feel the same that they should be when you treat them kindly [Music] this is very very cool to be playing this so I know some people don't like relics but the story behind this signature is that Rory Gallagher's sweat was really I don't know like acidic or toxic I don't know how to describe it so his sweat burn off the pain of his guitar and that's why it's so relict so it wasn't like he was there just like sanding it down trying to be cool it was just like it was just a thing that happened and yeah when they built this they copied it exactly I do not understand how that's done but it's a three-way switch which is quite cool and even like they've they've aged everything on it it's so cool it's so cool there's a lot of attention to detail in this guitar whether or not you like it it's so cool I'm I'm pretty hooked look how good that is [Music] another problem with guitar shops is that you never know about the sound that's going on around you so obviously you love just to sit in a booth a completely soundproof just you and the guitar but that's never really the case so there is an air-conditioning vent right behind me that just keeps going and I can also hear people like outside going which I can't do I'm like the worst player in a guitar shop because I'm like I'm like [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] trying to write this thing where I start with the baseline the beginning of a pentatonic scale [Music] I think I want to be playing - again but so bendy I've completely forgotten what this video is all about I'm too distracted now let's have a look at what else is in this room Sparkle [Music] okay this is an imperial arc 72 tele custom gold Sparkle gold Sparkle over the read color sunburst how cool is that that's probably one of the coolest Telly's I've seen $7,000 guys 7,000 so what else is here God there are some really nice things okay here is the new Eric Johnson thin line I love an F hole I really like that that's the Rory Gallagher I just played look at that two peas select roasted alder body with relic finish over pink that's really cool one day for rehearsing in my hotel room while I'm here I was going to look at the practice amps and obviously I already have practice at home so I didn't want to didn't want to get one of those because I also can't really record the audio so I thought I would get a little because I use the claret stuff by Focusrite but this is very very portable it's not powered it's what it's powered by the USB and I'll be able to rehearse through headphones and record the audio at the same time so pretty good experience in Guitar Center way busier than I've ever really seen a guitar shop in England they are not as busy as that and that was a slow day because it's Labor Day so that's kind of cool that people are shopping it's great [Music] you could be everything outwards you begin me you could be my [Music] madness takes away [Music]
