WHAT HAPPENED TO CHICAGO HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL STAR LEON SMITH?

[Music] Leon Smith was a standout he played high school basketball at Martin Luther King High School in Chicago leading the team downstate in 1999. Leon Smith was six foot ten and a cool 220 pounds and could do it all out there on the court Leon Smith followed in the footsteps of the likes of Kevin Garnett and Kobe Bryant and was one of the first guys in the 1990s to go straight from high school to the NBA he was drafted to the NBA by the San Antonio Spurs with the 29th overall pick in the first round of the NBA draft he played in the NBA with the Dallas Mavericks and the Atlanta Hawks appearing on a total of 14 games Leon Smith was a ward of the state and grew up in a group home and it's worth noting that Smith's career was marked by numerous personal struggles on and off the court including battles with mental illness and legal troubles through 2001 and 2005 Leon Smith played in the various minor and international leagues including the Continental Basketball Association other known as the CBA the usbl the ABA and teams in Poland Venezuela and Canada he tried to make a comeback briefly with the NBA's developmental league with the Fayetteville Patriots he went back in 2006 including the international basketball league the premier basketball league and the American Basketball Association in 2009 Leon Smith retired from basketball he had tremendous Talent was a great rebounder great shot blocker and could jump out the gym he was an intimidating presence out there on the court and had so much potential some records have shown that even Leon Smith has even died can somebody please tell me where is Leon Smith today I heard he's teaching young kids and developing kids in basketball if anybody knows where this guy is at let me know drop a comment peace
