The Bible talks a lot about demons. While Jesus was here on Earth, much of his time was spent casting them out. And since movies and shows today can depict demons in very inaccurate ways. I do need to say this. Demons are real. And the Bible tells us everything we need to know about them. So whether you're curious to know or possibly fearful about the reality of them, here are seven facts about demons. Fact number one, demons are angels that are doomed for hell. Matthew Chapter 25, verse 41. Then he will also say to those on the left hand. Depart from me. You cast into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels. In this passage, Jesus was explaining that God will separate His people from everyone else and will tell certain people to depart from him and for them to go to eternal fire. That was made for the devil and his angels. So just in case you didn't know, demons are in fact angels but are in a fallen state. Pay attention to Revelation chapter 12, verse four that reads His tale drew a third of the stars of heaven and threw them to the earth. Now there's a belief in Christianity that Satan or the devil persuaded one third of all the angels to rebel against God. And this passage in Revelation is where we get that belief, Because here it talks about a dragon who was a symbol of the devil and with his tale, took a third of the stars. And many believed these stars to be a metaphor of God's angels. And these angels who made the decision to follow Satan are called demons. Look at second Peter. Chapter two, verse four that says, For God did not spare even the angels who sinned. He threw them into hell in gloomy pits of darkness where they are being held until the day of judgment. So to close this point, bear in mind that demons are angels who sinned. And there will be a time in which they will all be cast into hell. Number two, demons have different classes. Ephesians chapter six, verse 12 four. We do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. In this passage, Paul explains that Christians don't fight against physical enemies, but instead fight against principalities, powers, rulers of darkness and spiritual hosts of wickedness. And have you ever stopped and considered why this passage doesn't just say demons? and the reason is because there's enough of a difference between demons that they deserve different titles. Now, I don't know the exact differences between a ruler of darkness and a spiritual host of wickedness, but I do know that there are probably characteristics that make them unique. And it makes sense, too, because Holy angels also have classes. There's cherubs, serifs archangels, and the four living creatures that dwell in the throne room of God. And if you read carefully, you'll find that their physical appearances are different to fact Number three. Demons seek to embody someone or something. Matthew Chapter 12 Verses 43 to 45. when an evil spirit leaves a person, it goes into the desert seeking rest, but finding none. Then it says, I will return to the person I came from. So it returns and finds its former home empty, swept, and in order. Then the Spirit finds seven other spirits more evil than itself. And they all enter the person and live there. And so that person is worse off than before. That will be the experience of this evil generation. in this passage. Jesus teaches us that there are times when an evil spirit or a demon will leave someone, but then return with even more demons, and that they'll all dwell within that person. So another fact about demons is that they desire to dwell within people. And in another passage, we see that demons desire to enter into pigs. And there's another passage that tells us that the devil himself entered Judas Iscariot as body right before he betrayed Jesus. I should also note that it's possible for multiple demons to dwell within a single person. Fact number four Demons seek to harm Mark. Chapter nine, Verse 22 The Spirit often throws him into the fire or into water, trying to kill him. Have mercy on us and help us if you can. In this passage, a father's explaining to Jesus what this evil spirit does to his son who's possessed. And he tells them that he causes the son to burn or drown himself. And if you read the Bible, you'll find that there's a reoccurring theme of demons causing their host to physically afflict themselves. So all that to say once a demon in dwells a person, their desire is to control that individual so that they hurt themselves. Fact Number five Demons cannot inhabit a Christian. First, John, Chapter four, verse four You are of God little children and have overcome them because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. in this passage, John, one of the 12 disciples of Jesus explains to Christians that they have overcome these Antichrist and that He who is in them, which is the Holy Spirit, is greater than He who is in the world, namely the Devil. and the general belief that many Christians have. Is that true? Christians cannot be possessed by a demon because they already have a spirit living within them. And that's the Holy Spirit. and we see this in first Corinthians chapter three, verse 16, which reads, Do you not know? Do you not know that you are the Temple of God and that the Spirit of God was in you? So if you're a believer, you can rest in the fact that a demon can never possess you. Because God, the Holy Spirit is infinitely greater than all other spirits and will never allow you to be possessed by any other demons, may be able to freak you out or even cause hardship, but they will never be able to reside in your body. Fact Number six Demons Possessed Supernatural Strength. Mark Chapter five versus 2 to 5. and when he had come out of the boat immediately there met him out of the tombs, a man with an unclean spirit who had his dwelling among the tombs, and no one could bind him, not even with chains, because he had often been bound with shackles and chains, and the chains had been pulled apart by him and the shackles broken in pieces. Neither could anyone tame him. And always, night and day he was in the mountains and in the tombs, crying out and cutting himself with stones. In this passage, Jesus met a demon possessed man who could not be bound because even chains were broken apart by this man. And it says that no one could control him. all that to say normal people are not able to break chains and shackles with their bare hands. And I would also say that most people can be bound and controlled if multiple people ganged up against them. But not so with this person. No one was able to control him. In fact, number seven, demons must obey God. Mark Chapter one versus 23 to 27. Now there was a man in their synagogue with an unclean spirit. And he cried out saying, Let us alone. What have we to do with you? Jesus of Nazareth. Did you come to destroy us? I know who you are. The Holy one of God. but Jesus rebuked him, saying, Be quiet and come out of him. And when the unclean spirit had convulsed him and cried out with a loud voice, he came out of him. Then they were all amazed so that they questioned among themselves saying, What is this? What new doctrine is this for? With authority, he commands even the unclean spirits. And they obey him. In this passage there was a demon possessed man, and they told Jesus to leave them alone. But Jesus didn't listen to them and cast them out of the man. And everyone who saw this happen identified that Jesus has the authority to command evil spirits. So when it comes to demons, they are evil spirits that dwell in the earth, doing whatever their dark hearts want to. However, they will obey God when they are commanded. And it's important to note that demons are just angels and God created angels so know that God is infinitely stronger than them. And that includes Satan. you know, many people tend to think that Satan is the opposite of God. And that's incorrect because Satan is created and finite while God is uncreated and infinite. So there's no comparison. The technical opposite of Satan would probably be Michael the Archangel because they're both angels. One good and one evil. So to close, remember that while demons have some power, Christians can take comfort knowing that God's power is infinitely greater and that power is something that we have access to through our faith in Jesus. All right. So if you're someone who wanted to learn about demons, don't forget the seven facts. Demons or angels that are doomed for hell. Demons have different classes. Demons seek to embody someone. Demons seek to harm. Demons cannot inhabit a Christian. Demons possessed supernatural strength and demons must obey God. now a word of caution to Christians. While we do have authority over demons by the name of Jesus, don't get prideful. What allows us to overcome them isn't us. It's God in us. So if the time comes and you have a demonic encounter, you must place your focus on God and then invite God into your situation. And if you find fear entering your heart, pray fill your heart with songs of praise and place your attention on how much bigger goddess. Okay. With all these things considered, I hope that you always remember Jesus loves you.
