-This building checked off
all the list. It has a gym,
it has the outdoor pool, so it's amenities
are definitely in line for everything
that I like to do. Hi, everyone.
Welcome to My Sweet Digs. My name is Samantha,
and come on in. So I currently live
in a studio apartment that costs $2,024 within
the Fashion District of downtown Toronto. And I currently live by myself. I love this area.
I'm right across from Stackt Market,
which is beautiful. They support a lot of small
businesses, especially local. So I definitely go over there
whenever I can. I would describe my home style
as minimalist and Boho and with a pop of pink. I definitely like
all those three things. They work together. Right here is actually
my laundry room, as soon as you enter. And then when you open
this door, this is my closet. So I actually have
an industrial sewing machine. I did take fashion design
at Ryerson University. If you go on to the other side, this is where I store
all my jackets and all of my shoes. I love jackets.
I'm obsessed. Like, I love
a fashionable jacket. ♪♪ I have this lovely painting
that I actually did in one of my illustration
classes in university. This find, it should be
something around like $200. It's a jewelry box
that kind of expands outwards. But I got it on sale for $9.99. ♪♪ This is one of
my favorite places because it is
a big bathroom for a studio. I've definitely set this up
as like a little mini oasis. I take advantage of self care. So I have, like, these luxurious
baths that I take. I make sure I put a lot
of bath bombs and florals in it. So I actually got this chair. It was a dark brown,
but I painted it white. And then I also have
this painting that I did. I just made sure that
the colors just matched everything around here. And then if you peek through, I have some eucalyptus,
which is always really good. It's definitely a great way
to have that decompress and make you feel good
about yourself. Let's take you
to the kitchen now. So it's very small,
but for somebody living on their own, single girl like
me, this is just very practical. I definitely always have,
like, my wine glasses out because it's always good to have
a glass a day, I think. So a lot of pink tones and brown
tones, which I really enjoy. And then it translates well
against the couch that I have here. So if I do have, like, my niece or nephew
that come over to visit, this is where
I make this into a bed. So this is where I work.
I do work at home. I'm a social media manager
for a fashion company. It's such an important field,
especially more than ever. So it's definitely a field
that I enjoy and I really love. I definitely wanted a space
where, especially working at home now, I wanted to feel
like I'm in a zone, I feel rejuvenated,
and this is a great spot because it gets
so much natural light. And then I do enjoy like
the paintings that I have here. They're just very abstract. I kept it within
the same color scheme of like the apartment feel. Then I also have this amazing
painting by my niece Carter. And she made that
when she was 2. I definitely wanted
to showcase that. So anytime she comes over here, she can feel inspired
and feel great about herself. My favorite item in my house is
definitely my birds of paradise. I mean, my niece even named it,
and she calls it "Planty." It's actually grown
two new leaves, which I'm very excited about. And I was so happy
with this plant that I bought another one,
a baby Birds of Paradise. And it's actually blooming
right now, which is awesome. In order to make the space
work for myself on my own, I definitely had to
strategize on ways to create divisions, like,
make my bedroom my bedroom and not work in my bedroom. So I added this curtain rod and put these sheer blankets
to make it dreamy and make it feel
that separation between. If you go in,
I added these two drawings that I did by myself. When I first went to Jamaica,
I went to Emancipation Park, which is in Kingston, Jamaica,
and there's this huge statue, and it's a statue called
Redemption Song by Laura Facey. And she made these sculptures basically to represent
the end of slavery. So I definitely wanted to bring
that component of my heritage, my Jamaican heritage,
into my space. So that way, I always remember
where I come from. This is where
I chill out in the night. This is where I relax and sleep. And then if you go in here,
it's my closet. So I definitely separate it by,
like, work clothes. In work, I definitely wear a lot
of blacks and whites, which does not replicate
what I'm doing right now. But when it's the weekend,
that's when gets all the colors. This is actually really neat. So as soon as I moved in,
any bottle that gets popped, everybody needs to write on it and say a little message
and date it. So I think that was, like,
a nice touch just to always see and, like,
reminisce and go back and see what happened
during that time when we popped that champagne. This little vase,
I actually thrifted, as well. I'm a huge thrifter. It was 2 dollars,
which is a great steal. So the balcony
is pretty spacious, and it oversees the courtyard
in my building. In the courtyard,
there's actually two fire pits. When it's really cold,
I go out there with friends and just have a quick, like,
little drink or a little chat, and it's amazing. In order to make
this space work, I've made sure
that I put a lot of artwork that I like that inspired me. I made a lot of color palettes
that cheers me up, especially being by myself. And then also just going out
for walks and going outside
as much as possible. So that way,
when I come back into my home, I'm not sick and tired of it,
especially being home 24/7. Thanks so much for stopping by
