What’s dating like in Japan for foreign men ?

really popular actually i'm finally nba so i'd like to like houston rockets or there's mavericks okay dallas mavericks is okay but if you like the houston rockets we might we might have some you problems in japan yeah i live here in japan for uh eight years yeah three years in a city up north and now about four or five years in tokyo where is your favorite most favorite place to live in japan i grew up kind of a small town outside of dallas texas so living in central tokyo is my favorite because like exactly what i'm doing today i just walk around to different cafes so the convenience of living in tokyo yeah is my favorite okay so what do you do in japan uh i work uh for amazon at their photography studio but my side hustle is a dating coach so that's what i create content for and on tick tock and instagram and things this is the topic what's it like dating for foreigners in japan so yeah dating i think in general it's difficult because if you're a foreigner that's moved into japan you have to realize that everyone you meet is from a different place in the world or even like if you're dating a japanese person they have a completely different mindset if you're dating like another foreigner maybe it's a little easier let's say i meet somebody from the states as well it's maybe a little easier if i meet somebody from europe i don't know it's still a little different and sometimes they're not going to be staying here for as long as you are oh yeah how about you how was your experience uh so i've dated several japanese girls and i like i kind of explored around to try to find my type i don't date japanese girls anymore like that that are like strongly japanese maybe they don't have any kind of experience living abroad so actually throughout dating i prefer a japanese woman who is either half or has lived abroad for a significant amount of time because like our cultures match so if i'm looking for a serious relationship i'm seriously looking for somebody who is like half japanese or uh mostly has lived abroad like a foreigner yeah oh yeah i think most people do come wanting to date like a japanese person but you don't realize that it is tough there's a lot of cultural differences that ask questions do you speak japanese i know yeah that's why it's difficult for me to practice like uh just natural conversation like it's a little easier to connect with them you think it's easy to live in tokyo with a japanese i think it is uh and now it takes a certain mentality it's it's hard like because you're you're on your own unless you move here with friends or family or anything like that but you're you're on your own so that's the hardest part is if you're okay being alone majority of the time you're going to make friends you're going to find where you belong you're going to find a relationship and you have you just have to have the guts to keep pushing through yeah thank you so m um [Music] [Music] [Music] i'm from india india you mean japan yeah i've been living in tokyo for the last two years i'm gonna ask you this question about dating for foreigners in japan have you dated japanese people yes i have yes i've mostly dated using dating apps especially bamboo yeah have you heard of the app i've heard of it but it's not quite popular in japan i think is it it's it's more popular among people who speak english quite fluently so actually i come across a lot of uh not just japanese uh girls but also a lot of foreigners so i'm it's not like i have a particular type in terms of which country yeah i've met i've met girls from a variety of countries on on on bumble ingrained in japanese including japanese yes like how was it how was like dating with japanese women to be perfectly honest uh from my experience dating japanese girls they also tend to be a little bit slow a little bit it's more it's more like that's what i'm sort of more used to rather than more aggressive or fast fast kind of pace then you did it with foreigners in japan too then yes yeah so like what do you think the most different biggest difference between them one thing is obviously the language part but if i if i take out the language aspect i tend to notice that japanese girls tend to be less direct when it comes to conversations if we're talking about any particular subject it takes a lot more time for me to get into to get into the root of the conversation to actually start discussing the actual core of the conversation a lot of times when i'm when i'm talking with a japanese girl it's not just japanese girls but i tend to notice that it's common among japanese koreans chinese people also a little bit that initially it's a little bit more sort of on the surface and it takes time to get more into the deeper aspect of the conversation you know yes so from now on would you take japanese or we should tell the foreigners in japan which one would you date actually after about a year of dating experience in japan i think actually dating japanese girls is more suited for me oh really i think so i think so because i'm also the type who doesn't get directly into the subject because i i tend to trust someone only after knowing them for for a while so i feel like compared to foreign or kind of european or north american girls japanese girls or tend to be more similar in that in that aspect yeah i i think i think you're like more japanese kind of like personality more i think so i've been told that i'm more japanese than indian which i kind of agree with because i don't speak actually i don't speak my indian
