We've Secretly Been Preparing MULLET the El Camino For Race Week! (2,000 Horsepower Project)

Oh James tell us about what you got here this right here is a gear vendors tail Hillhouse gv1 honey that's the part number for this year piece huh hey and in this box there's the unit alright so guys if you don't know what a gear vendors overdrive does it essentially takes a power glide gives it a third gear yes so on our Race Week build aka the El Camino we're gonna power glide but we're gonna have a button that switches it into third gear so when we're cruising down the road for 1500 miles we can click that thing in the overdrive and not run a super high rpm oh snap I gave you this that's cool man see these are good people getting it found here that's nice that's on the ratio so got some good guys here at gear vendors we call them up we said hey brother we don't want to run super high rpm the entire race week how can you help oh my gosh that thing is sick this thing's good for about 1,800 horsepower - we could run it in overdrive at 1,800 horsepower yeah yes insane good so instead of setting a gear up with our setting a car up with a lot of gear like Ruby yeah where it's a pig in the in the eight to make the quarter yeah you can set the car up to be really fast in the eight and use the gear vendor itself as a third speaker on the track now we're not doing that but you can do that where we're gearing the Elco for the quarter mile and then the gear vendor will help with the 70 mile an hour interstate speeds a lot converted that's a serious coupler damn see this thing's beautiful marijuana sleepies no sir Kadena gaze 1 degree 2 degree 1 degree 1 degree 2 degree through these boxes please I tell you if you're going to guys here's the Elco Powerglide mmm that's a beautiful unit and what we're gonna be doing is replacing this piece with this and then the gear vendor attaches to the back over here we have the controller we got a t-shirt that's a controller so when you flip the switch that's what activates the gear vendor engages the clutch locks it into overdrive what a rowdy Ripper I mean you just unbolt your tail housing yeah hold on this one with the collar your collar on and yeah don't forget sir it's happened Oh Cooper bracing the bell housing what an absolute unit man and they you walked I don't really know long BC how is that round yeah all right there's your complete unit you guys will see a lot more on this later when we're actually using it but I mean that took us maybe five minutes to put together look at this this is like a seal insurance I don't know hold the ceiling it's got two of them to make sure in case there's like a seal failure doesn't fly out that's pretty cool that's awesome and then that yoke is right here right here so they literally send everything you need and one and there you go so off pro fab the power glide and your vandergilt and it's going in the ELCA that is one freakin cool unit all right check out the gear vendors excited to try this thing out so yeah it does you're on the please control youtube channel alright guys it is officially today we are picking up the El Camino a k-project mullet which used to be a jet-powered project but now is our hopefully six second race car project graceful full-blown racer this is but it's actually kind of a street car too because our plan with this is to send it on race week with the rest of the cars but be capable of running a six second pass at the same time it's gonna be one of those Street forever yeah that's what we're all about so guys this thing is all complete as far as the tin work goes and the cage the whole nine yards here at Pro fat performance you guys know this is where we come for all of our caged stuff for Leroy Ruby now the Elko this thing's been here for a long time because we initially started the jet project about a year and a half ago as the whole jet thing progressed and from when we started a couple people passed away just from accidents with the jet so we decided to pull the plug on that and turn it into just a full-blown as fast as we could possibly make it race car and pro/5 finish it up and it looks insane we're gonna give you a walkthrough right now show you everything that's new and awesome honest and then load it in the trailer take you back to the shop it's exciting so they've kind of mostly seen under here they've seen the engine bay work showed this off a few times but now that you know everything got the coilovers in addition welded yeah she looks pretty nice dude you can't beat the stance - but I think we need to raise it up show them underneath because that's pretty much where the live accident so I guess we can show them in the interior real quick - check this out guys it is all completed here look at that look at how nice this all looks tin work is insane dude the transmission tunnel is beautiful it's all sealed up - so when I'm driving there is no air coming in the cabin when this thing is all complete hopefully once the windows are in we can have an airtight cabin my name gives my air conditioning for this thing one day you know so yeah you get to see the interior but now it is complete with a floorboard you got everything done this thing is sealed up and it looks pretty incredible the guys here pro/5 kill it Troy Troy did this tin work and it looks amazing get your rear bars there got your tubs don't call a mini-mom don't swim respect on the tub what's the first car I've ever had it sucks it's so fitting the ELCA first car that has a body never require it no you got a big old tire on the got afraid over a taillight so this year so much higher [Music] you got the trz rear end in this thing things of beasts you guys powder-coated this yes hell yeah it looks so nasty now she was getting a little sorry but we got to eat our standard section for this - what are they 40 spline axles look at the size of axle all that so they just kind of held together right now to keep the rear the axles in it but we uh got order a center section for that pretty soon we gotta decide what gear were to figure out you're a shock you ate our gear but it's up how fast we want to go thing is insane so we got triangulated four-link under here what you guys saw when we originally did the jet stuff it just kind of got moved back for it to be a stock wheelbase car because remember how we extended the wheelbase for the whole car we extended the entire car and that old body is out here from when we extended it and then we picked up the red body here El Camino body and that is the new stock wheelbase stuff cuz we don't want to have to go back and redo the old body Pope we're taking the old one back with us today so we'll have to do something with it just take again there under here folks this is about as beautiful as it gets I don't know if thanks for all on fab good hanging out could hold up with this stuff this is pretty sick it's so sick they crushed it dude so it's all bedliner - super durable nice and grippy we hopefully don't have to ever work on it here but you know you never know so then you got through here multiple driveshaft loops got your gear vendor which is our overdrive unit attached to our power glide and then the power glide attached to the mid plate mid plate attached to the back of our good ol 427 LS and then you got your motor plate up here so Shay's an absolute unit folks this thing is uh it really turned out amazing the cool thing is - when you want to drop out of transmission you just unbolt these four 4 bolt flange is on both sides gotta do this one - and that's all SFI approved pro fab do their homework on that all you gotta do is drop that transmission out it's one big unit and it's perfect but uh that is pretty amazing to just look at this is by far the most serious race car we've ever done they're always stocked frame rail stuff and now our double frame rail she's pretty rowdy alright let's lower it down I pushed it out I won't see it out in the sunlight sitting on the ground there's pretty long car it's nice [Music] ya need that wheelbase we don't power we Li do the thing looks so nasty yeah we should take a bedliner back here cuz we're gonna have a bunch stuff in here alright oh yeah hell yeah I like how you guys did do the bedliner on the floors though cuz whenever I get in Leroy I slip out that's nice grip good for feet 20 150 pounds as you see it so it's got a lot more stuffs going now we got to put the glass back in we got to put uh you know me in there we got to put a whole bunch of stuff in there - electronics yup - turbos turbo kids cool there's a lot of stuff back to the shop this thing goes it's been a long time damn feels good to have it out in the Sun look so gnarly say is a beast see the reality wanna do the semi our most real race car by part in this cage and from the looks doing guys James will be the one actually piloting this on race week so we got some work to do to get it done if we're gonna do by that yeah and a lot of what it's gonna happen become like a main project and that happened to make it nice and it's gonna be a solid month was to be the main project and everything else was filling in between the exact I know we're waiting on parts that work on other stuff we definitely have some work to do guys but we're gonna load the Elco in head back to the shop and we'll see you there we got some more stuff to talk about today what are you doing brother want to go see an El Camino real quick let's check it out all right there you have it yeah the primer Camino so guys I know a lot of people are gonna hate this color just cuz it's like grey and it looks like primer but we wanted to send it and have one car with awesome nice cool paint and I really have always loved this grey color so we sent it this is kind of a mix of Nardo grey and destroyer grey but I'm kind of the lighter side and the El Camino has been transformed it absolutely looks sick in person and yeah I mean it's just beautiful so yeah it's hard to see the parole but it's not just a flat gray it's actually a pearl gray but it does have that cool kind of flat gray look to it and I want to get up close it really shines nicely so the body shop next door to us actually did it so we've gotten to know this guy over the last couple years he did an awesome awesome job on this thing so really pretty pumped now what you're gonna see is that there's a hood missing turns out I actually plan on putting a hood on the El Camino so downright racing the guy who makes body panels fiberglass body panels for like James hood is from them he actually made a hood and a bumper for the El Camino which is getting mounted up this week so you guys won't see that yet but downright Racing did hook us up with some stuff so this is our post Pro fab fresh paint looked and we got some stuff to do still cuz we're gonna bed lying in the bed but uh I'll look at that it was gas cap chilling what do you guys think of the color a lot of a lot of this kind of thinking you weren't here for and I was like dude you just gotta go with his colors yeah and you're like alright and then you seen in your like oh my god that color says yeah so I kind of told him what I wanted color wise but we were doing the concrete pour when this was all coming together so James is sending me pictures and I'm like I think it looks good James like it looks sick God just do it and coop you were just talking about pinging or side by side of this color too so you got a little sample now so the the tailgate is done - we're gonna bed lie on the inside of the tailgate inside of the bed because how perfect how a more perfect could it be for a race sweet car you just throw everything in the bed cool thing about this too is just being a bed and still metal body yeah we can take and we can get a toolbox that fits here no we can Riven up the bed and bolt the toolbox down you know like this saying purpose building okay we're just going racing do just four bolts pull it out everything's back to the in like think about like two fuel tanks like ten gallons of fuel in those you know racing cans and fit perfect there I know the bar placement up here in the corners both sides of those bars are fitted to make two five gallon like one on each side oh yeah so 10 gallons can go there we are set so this thing look so here's a shot in like kind of the shade the color completely changes I mean it's crazy how much it changes so it's like a darker Nardo over here and then you walk to the Sun side and it's just freakin a bright beautiful metallic gray so really excited but also scared to have a car with nice paint because our boy James here is really rough on nice paint you know it is what it is so scratching how to get with guy James yeah it will have black came out all the black trim it's gonna be a few law it's gonna be a few pieces that are polished and match the wheels still but yeah about 90 percent of the trim on video so we'll have a bumper that'll be black and gray will have a grille it's black will have some chrome accents though and then the trim over the trunk will be black but it's a really nice paint job but it does look great but these guys are right next door so if we mess it up you know it is what it is we'll probably have to repaint this thing every couple years because it everything in our fleet just takes a ton of use constantly being in and out trailers on dinos at the racetrack it is what it is it's something that we have to deal with but I'm really stoked about the killer guys like I'm really really really happy about the killer so that's uh that's it for the El Camino updates for a while we gotta take this thing up to pro fab get some the hood mounted up some other stuff get some Zeus fasteners put in for that other than that though what do you guys think ready to see this thing rip you know we gotta get that six second run man we haven't had a four second car on the channel yet you know Cooper kept comment in the Ruby video we need that for hopefully Ruby does it before this but this surely will need to run a four for China round six well I'm chasing that forward for sure the scar will absolutely do it but James will be the one piloting this on race week and then hopefully our c8 comes in time for coop to drive that one race week so we got a whole plan for race week we just have a ton of work to do to this and then I'll be driving Leroy that's the current plan but other than that guys that's it that's your El Camino update I know you guys been missing it oh and then everyone who's gonna want to see the 632 in this thing it's not getting the 632 this thing is getting a 2004 power capable LS motor so I'll just throw that out there for now I know everyone wants the 632 but that's just not the application engine we need for stronger how fast we're trying to go James gonna put in his boat so that's it for the alcohol update thanks for watching do for Dale will frickin see you later [Music]
