We've come full circle - Fatal Frame 5 [1]

hey everyone welcome to fatal frame five it's finally here the re-release after seven years it's now out in all consoles it finally happened it's finally not only on nintendo consoles anymore but i am playing on the nintendo switch for this one i really wanted to do the pc version but i ran into bugs if your monitor is not 60 hertz if it's anything above that it speeds up the game so my monitor i had it set to 120 hertz and it played the game at double the speed the only way you can get around this is putting your monitor at 60 hertz but because i was playing at 60 hertz the the output to my capture card was a little bit unstable it just kept like blinking in and out with no signal and i decided to just get a console version and then i thought the switch was probably gonna be the best one because it has the motion control i know i never it's very unlike me to say that but i do remember from playing the wii u version that it is nice that you can just switch to portrait mode just by doing this and you don't really have to think about the buttons and it's much quicker i do have to say i want to show you guys this i got so i bought the i bought the switch version yeah i bought like a deluxe digital edition and it came with an art book and the art book if you're a fan of the franchise is really really cool i'll show you i'll show you so we have artwork on all of the games well except for actually i just realized they really just wanna pretend like four doesn't exist feels like but i was really really happy to see this artwork to see these things in such like high quality it's so fun look at mafia he's so high quality this is creepy too there's little the little girl i'm not gonna say the name spoilers but yeah this looks awesome doesn't it and then i found out so every game here in the art book has its own like uh pictures and everything but then there's also audio you can play so this is my favorite track for the first game it's so cool it has all the music for all the games [Music] am i crazy what a throwback as i just it's really cool that the game comes with that i really like that um but yeah without further ado rip pc edition just for me for recording purposes we're gonna go nintendo switch edition and uh let's just start back at the beginning let's do it and fingers crossed the signal is stable now i think it is lurking in the deep hinasaki hinasaki should be a name if you've watched all the other fatal frames should be a surname that sounds familiar rings a bell but we'll get to it when we get to it in the vicinity of mount hikami people have been mysteriously disappearing without a trace one such girl is miu hinasaki she awakens to find herself in an old half-flooded building we're playing um as always japanese voices english texts uh little trembling lip it's such a good detail oh they're all moving all the bodies under the water [Music] it's so dark lots of ladies it was a dark cutscene but this looks good i have to get out of here ta-da [Applause] i love i love that in four one of my favorite ghosts is the one who has the hair sticking to her face with all the water and that's the one like in this game the theme is all about the water it's a nice connection from four to five route i have to find a way out did i just hear someone laughing very faintly it looks like there's a cave wall on the other side of the lattice i can see some stone statues out in the darkness i must be underground how did i how do i get out of here that's a cool thought that this is all underground light at the end of the corridor maybe there's a way out that way well you're definitely not going back yeah i love the hair sticking to the face you're chasing after me i have to get out sprint this is the the fastest the sealed into a shrine on top of a mountain look how pretty so cool that mountain is where the events of this story take place we followed the fates of three people yuri den and miu it is a terrifying tale of the supernatural name of the black water nice it's gonna be fun hey there's our girl yuri kozukata first chapter among the residents of the villages at the foot of mount hikami a certain unique ability has been passed through the ages this ability known as shadow reading enables the user to view the shadow or trace of someone lost in inexplicable circumstances this is not this is not unlike psychometry i think you read that like that practiced elsewhere yuri kozukata accompanies hisoka kurosawa a woman who possesses the shadow reading ability to an abandoned inn on mount hikami sensing yuri could in time become talented at shadow reading hisoka takes her along on an assignment can't wait to hear his hisoka's voice again her voice is my favorite it's very sensual foreign story beauty isn't her voice the best hmm what a pretty camera let's see oh god yeah oh so we can do this or actually move it if we want to be quicker damn so that's the pro controller i'm using i wonder if i can can i turn that i want to change it a little bit i can't it won't let me i need to go into the menu but i'm stuck in tutorial so let me just do what they want me to do and then i'll change lock on which is really nice okay thanks um let me check the motions settings camera controls use the controller's motion sensor function r to control the direction only use r to control the camera in photo mode yeah i'm wanting to do that uh okay so then the turning doesn't work either that's a shame you should be able to do that and then just use the turning hmm do i want this or the super shaky motion controller i'll try motion for a little bit just for the novelty of it i guess and then if i get really annoyed um i'll switch wait controller mode nah that's fine i'm used to that anyway i think it should be fine as soon as you lock on it won't be as shaky anyway okay it was just so dark i couldn't even see it um i think the brightness is fine [Music] you see what i set it to for a ghost [Music] a trace [Music] okay let's do it so you can move while you hold it down as well seeing it windows in this hallway have been nailed shut oh it's taking a sharp lift i'm gonna go to the end there and grab whatever this is wait is there anything there oh no it's just this thing old dusty book has been left in the hallway maybe someone dropped it mount hikami's downfall mount hikami has long been considered a holy ground for centuries people have been drawn to many sacred shrines and places of worship as well as the natural features such as the twilight twilight twilight i always mess it up peak and the pool of purification which have themselves been treated with great reverence the mountain was also popular with tourists and mountain climbers for the beauty of its abundant clear waters and ancient mysterious forests worshipers and hikers alike used to find rest at ichidu manor a hot spring resort near the foot of the mountain now the end lies desolate devoid of visitors the mountain never recovered from a devastating landslide it suffered many years ago the shrine road to the summit was cut off and the flow of water throughout the mountain was altered forever changing the landscape new roads that were under construction had to be abandoned and each manor was buried under a slew of rock resulting in numerous fatalities among those lost were the family of ichidu manor's proprietor effectively putting an end to the business nantikami's days as a tourist destination were no more instead the mountain gained notoriety as a suicide spot perhaps because it was traditionally a destination to which the dying would venture the mountain is now a place for those wishing to end their own lives by extension it has also become a place for thrill-seekers interested in the occult gotcha man peeking through excuse me i i gotta go here oh yeah innkeeper stumbling about was that a shadow of the past um you may be able to view echoes of the past photographing them will earn your points you can upgrade your camera uh oh he's back there nice yes okay yeah the camera can help you see things that you can't see with the naked eye and there we go so sometimes you have to turn the camera and then when you get the thing that's when you have the right angle and you can get the secret so it's showing us a room now with a doll in it it's like coming out of the closet so we need to that might be where the key is we need to go there find the place in the picture you got it okay i didn't even see him there hanging man he's just watching me well let's go in here the only room we skipped so ah yeah so when i was playing this earlier i was noting the direction the doll is looking in so it's looking straight ahead right now right across the room just keep that in mind get the key yay go back to hisoka you got it that's where the key goes huh man looking at key well i have the key dude yeah a lot of dolls looking this way so it does switch positions very subtle let's go i really hope more youtubers uh will also pick up on this game and play it give it a shot i got the key i opened the door are you proud of me searching man so he was looking for something here tonight [Music] phantom expose camera obscura will react to items that are normally hidden from the eyes of the living you can bring those items back to this world by photographing the place where they were taken from with their correct angle and position so you could like lock on and then tilt so that's why i kind of wanted to play it on the switch because that is a little bit quicker you can just tilt we found it the japanese was this isn't this isn't a good place to be like it's a bad place so it's best to just head out as quick as we can kind of got lost in fragments [Music] spirit fragments break off when a ghost takes damage after time they are reabsorbed photograph the fragments before that happens when five or more targets are in view taking a photograph will knock back the ghost so does extra damage the capture area will go red keep adjusting your positions that you have more targets his elbows count now as well i can't target him though oh almost had it can't do it yet yes that's fine awesome okay fatal frame fatal time when it flashes red you can take a fatal frame shot you need to capture the ghost mid attack it will trigger fatal frame when you can take photos in close succession without using film oh it doesn't use film i didn't even realize that okay let's go for it yeah so they definitely changed it from the older games the older games when you would change shots it would um you had to time the succession shots as well for the red flashing to be able to chain them but now it's just like you get like two seconds or three seconds and just click it as much as you can in that time frame so it's easier let's [ __ ] him up oh if he's in the wall though i can't really take the pictures in quick succession so we're gonna have to let him come out a little bit yeah that's good okay now let's do it had to wait so long nice goddamn already chained four easy i don't see his health yet i think you think that was it oh that the flower was fully open and it just means that ghosts can do more damage so your defenses are weakened when that happens but i think the game explains it later foreign uh it's a lot to unpack here it is that's what he dreamt while learning about shatter reading from hisoka yuri used the ability to retrieve an album of post-mortem photographs from a ruined inn on mount hikami the album was requested by den hojo the man we just saw as ren uh wren as then awoke from a bad dream he found himself tormented by uncertainty was it really just a dream or a suppressed childhood memory the question has plagued him for some time well if i was in that in that album i don't think it's just a dream [Music] lots of bubbles in my throat today i keep hearing like our costumes past protagonists sits waiting at the antique shop a girl named fuyuhihimino shows up claiming to have enlisted hisoka to help her find a missing person yeah so hisoka owns the store so yuri helps out there as well antique cafe kurosawa so cute so many lightsabers this the subtitle said come back and all she says is [Laughter] missing person case he's a guy left a few days ago and hasn't been back maybe this is what she's been working on he's because the room is upstairs maybe she left some clues as to her whereabouts okay let's go have a look i think i can go upstairs through here oh files to read a book about mount hikami was lying on the bookshelf suicides seems to be about the rumors surrounding mount hikami as a site of spiritual activity how does a place become famed for suicide as more people die the place will gain a reputation and people are drawn to these spots out of out of a desire not to be alone in the end interestingly these suicide spots are rarely known as hot spots for spiritual activity this is what makes mount hikami distinct from the others it has both a tradition of suicide and has long been associated with ghost sightings then there are the so-called maidens of black water it is said that if you are found by one of these maidens they will lead you to your death those caught in the maiden's gaze never again leave the mountain or so the rumors go there are also tales of specters on mount hikami who relive their own deaths those who do not die in accordance with local practices become cursed forced to relive their final moments for eternity many of the people who have been kept from committed suicide on mount hikami claimed to have seen a maiden or one of these looping spectres and felt a strong compulsion to kill themselves perhaps it is because of these stories of maidens and ghosts that the mountain continues to be a popular spot for those looking to take their own life so dark book about mount hikami the deathly mountain traditions surrounding the mountain mount kami has long been feared to be haunted in the past it was said that sleeping with one's feet facing the mountain was taboo watching the sun set behind the mountain too was believed to invite forth beings from the netherworld today the mountain is said to call to those fascinated by death countless rumors are bound of people spirited away to that accursed peak they are said to venture to the mountain alone leaving behind no trace of themselves some say the bodies of those who vanish can be found at the bottom of the lake of the departed on the mountain's summic summit since becoming a tourist destination the prevalence of such frightening tales that seem to diminish for a while even so despite its fleeting status as a tourist hot spot mount hikami is yet to shake its the game with searching for it reference material for a book about traditional practice in mount hikami area bad location but minimal danger but and to anticipate it client is an acquaintance found an old building of abandoned inn shadow attempted to drag duty towards the netherworld should have gone alone must warn yuri to stay away from the mountain do you think she did that the art of shadow reading shadow reading is the ability to read traces of the past not unlike the ability commonly known as psychometry by following these traces it is possible to find things that have gone missing or great surprise and the outfits are really cool the custom outfits i definitely like that um hopefully they'll patch the pc version i'm sure they'll patch it real soon if so if you wanna if you have the same issues that i had then i'm sure it's only a matter of weeks before they patch it hopefully um i wanted to i honestly i wanted it on the switch anyway because now i have it on a portable console which is great i'm happy with that and it plays great i got used to the motion controls as well and it's actually kind of nice so i'm glad they put that in for the switch version i hope you guys liked it this is the tip of the iceberg i can't wait to play more it's such a joy to play a fatal frame game in such high quality compared to the older ones you know this is such like nice nice
