foreign I think the first time that I stepped on campus I just remember being so overwhelmed by how big the campus was there was a huge mix of excitement of exploring new things and meeting new people from so many different backgrounds but also lots of nerves about imposter syndrome about being able to fit in am I going to socially find my group the only path that students are supposed to take is their own it's easy to be distracted by all the stuff that's going on around you I ask everyone to take a deep breath and figure out what their goals are their hopes are and their dreams are for themselves and walk that path one of the things that I think is really cool about Stanford is that people both are very serious academically but then also really want to have fun and be light-hearted I would say over your time at Stanford you will learn more about each other and from each other but then really kind of find people who you have a lot of shared interests experiences values with and then you will deepen those relationships everyone has their own special thing and it might not just be one thing that makes it unique it might be two or three or four and it's okay if you aren't the best in the world at only one thing it's okay if you're exceptional at many the Stanford is a place to make your dreams come true Stanford is a place to to thrive to ReDiscover yourself and where you're at Stanford is a place to keep dreaming big and making it big and Stanford is a place for Community Family I think it's also okay to just like be okay with failure putting yourself and your mental health first is also just a really really important thing you want to get things just right but what you learn over time is there's such a thing as it's good enough it's good enough to move on to the next thing so that you can cultivate other aspects of flourishing of your well-being you belong here at Stanford University there's a place for everyone keep an open mind find a point of Engagement and really have fun welcome to Stanford this is just the beginning of your incredible path and I'm so excited to see you thriving
