'We Were Brothers.' Veterans of Ia Drang valley battle gather for 57th anniversary

thank you it's a very special day to be here with our my fellow veterans they are serving their country because they you know they love their country I'm very blessed to be able to be here [Applause] it's a very very tough time for us you know we didn't know we were outnumbered we went in with 457 after three days of intense fighting you know we lost 79 soldiers killed in action and 121 wounded they were the greatest Americans that we ever had that we could have and they're from all ranks all religions some were drafted some volunteered we were both I mean we was over there in five foot cut but we were fighting for each other we had good leaders and we were blessed and give God all great I mean we can't be in my DVD you know balance would and and we survived and that's one of the important things about it we're survivors I'll be 84 next month next month So yeah thank you it's hard to believe that the years have passed so fast well I look at them I think gee where's that aren't they Young some of them are could be my grandchild great grandchild this is our 57th reunion that's how tight this group was [Applause]
