We Visited Fiji and the Reality Surprised Us

spa right now Serge and I are gonna get a massage and then the girls are gonna get a little manicure foreign [Music] [Music] thank you ready for your massage we are having dinner at sanasana which is one of the main restaurants in the main building here they have a good mix of Cuisines they have local inspired stuff which is sort of native Fijian and then also a mix of Indian food which looks delicious jet lag is definitely kicking in and we're pretty tired this is the girls right now a little tired I just got done taking a big nap and uh yeah the girls are fading and also it's like a long journey period you know it's on your first Fiji gold I hope it's good the local beer here [Music] it's very cold that's a good thing all right this is Korean fried chicken and this is kokoda which is the national dish of Fiji it is and I'm reading from the menu here marinated raw fish chili lime coriander with coconut dressing so I guess it's kind of like a coconutty Ceviche so to speak and I'm excited to try it looks really good it's really good though fish is very substantial I'm not sure what kind of fish it is oh I think it was mahi mahi right and um the sauce is like pretty Savory um really nice but still light so really nice mix of flavors and textures yeah good morning so we all pretty much slept through most of the night so hopefully fingers crossed we're gonna be mostly adjusted to the time difference as of today so today we are going to do something very cool which is uh take a river Safari um so I guess we're gonna be going up this River we're going to be visiting a local Village Learning a little bit more about the Fijian culture the Customs okay so this Resort has a lot of Australian guests since we're so close to Australia and Sean is going to try Marmite for the first time everyone on Tick Tock has to do a little bit so Australians I'm sorry if I put too much I try to do a little bit I'm scared it smells really weird and it looks like tar what what does it taste like oh no okay Sean is speechless oh no no Vivid description at first it was good because it just tasted salty and then it's already tasting bitter and like now my mouth tastes weird no Villages than the river including is part of his body who are walking around vehicle so when they saw this he had leather booty and they thought oh this white man has a different type of leg very hard so they put it back in the board for a few more days the minister to be part of the leather boots a level leftover leather boots if you go around to Sugar City make sure you go to the Fiji Museum yeah the Fiji Museum in super City you can check it out the leftover leather boots this Bible and his gems it's all in there and all the stories about traveling and how he could kill up there I hear some babies okay now that we got to the Village I'm gonna put on my sarong no the villagers are looking forward to see you so one thing that's kind of fun is we're sort of even though we're just a tour group we are presenting ourselves as one family and so we had to elect a chief and so we elected the eldest member of the tour group uh Jeff this gentleman I think is in his 70s so he is our chief and I believe he will be the one leading like the Kaaba ceremony ladies if you want one thank you there you go there you go that's it second row pull up a bit wow what a big family today [Music] every now uh give us a green light okay and they received the power they say welcome home you're no longer from Australia you're in no longer from New Zealand you're no longer from the US now you're part of this Village so in front of you that's the Big Bowl where we mix the cup from this root phone we have a metal Bowl where we've crushed the powder once we crush it we wrap it nicely with the same newspaper then we bring it we put it straight into the trust we call it a strain that's where the powder has been crappy included the juice come up you can see the juice of the cover coming out just tree of life because every part of the coconut starts from the coconut plant into the coconut uh to the coconut and also to the coconut leaves they are all usable so that's why we call it it is a tree of life okay goanda over and again and cool that's good okay we're heading out to dinner and tonight we're eating at navo which is the fine dining restaurant here at Intercontinental after dinner there's going to be a very cool performance okay ladies you want to tell us about your outfits um stylish hair Amazon dress bags I don't know shoes the mall oh welcome to an area so run them all [Music] lime salt [Music] coconut salt of course turmeric and Curry Leaf salt and this is chili sauce whatever salt cheese you love I'll drop it in the Shell a little bit of olive oil balsamic vinegar that's not what's happening [Music] what did you guys think of the ride yeah so we did a photo shoot yesterday and our photographer Aaron is a Fiji local and he told us the trick with walking on Sand with a lot of coral is flip High and it works [Music] foreign [Music] so we just checked in we're going to another Island it's called so we're staying at another Resort which is called the custo resort [Music] like [Music] let's go [Music] foreign Airport so small and cute thank you oh they got a car seats thank you thank you [Music] Lord [Music] [Music] your life [Music] all right let's go check out our room is this basically for Mom and Dad only ah beautiful wow oh this is so nice outside and right here girl if you have your own more girls right over here right here oh so much room so we just got to the resort this place is amazing as soon as we got in there were singing these guys have guitars it was like such a warm welcome and as soon as we got in they took the kids to the kids club showed them around they met some new kids which is really nice and uh all in all like this place has been amazing so far we just had lunch we just got settled into our room so things are beautiful right now one cool thing here is this coconut if you want the do not disturb you don't want anybody to come and disturb you take this coconut and you put this big thing in front of your door No One's Gonna Come bother you which is really nice and one thing to note was that this place there's no TV there's no uh phones everything is sort of like very natural you have Wi-Fi which is you can stay in touch with whoever you need to speak to but it's very like natural kind of like an eco-friendly type of place all right one thing that's cool about this place is that laundry is included and so they have this system where green is for hand wash only black is for color clothes white is for lights and you basically leave your clothes here and they will take care of the laundry for you every day included for free which is really really nice so as soon as we checked in we found a new a new buddy it really likes the girls cute guys this iced coffee is so good that's my second one already it's basically like a frappuccino it's like ice cream in it our coffee beans so we're walking to the kids club right now we can hear Ella screaming yep oh it's so loud always the loudest girl we're the loudest kids period wow so Ella I thought you were scared of crabs I am but you're holding this hermit crab but some crabs are okay but some crabs are oh this is pretty brave of you else thank you hello so how was the kids club you guys spent the whole day there yeah yeah what'd you guys do well we swam in the pool a lot and we play seesaw so I had to like and then everybody came into the pool so then I was just like oh it's true and then that's how I found this one oh [Music] but today we're doing something very cool we are actually visiting a local Village here on sabu sabu and so the resort works pretty closely with this Village a lot of the activities on the resort like the crab hunts I believe you can kind of put some money down on the crabs and all of those proceeds actually go to help build schools and everything here so when we first came in there was actually a kindergarten right in the front of the village which is one of the projects that was built with the funds raised by The Resort [Music] foreign [Applause] that's the main draw right now No Deal [Music] so I did a little bit of shopping bought some souvenirs this one is for when the girls are not listening to me and then this one this cannibal Fork is when they're really not listening just kidding just kidding these are just souvenirs uh they're just gonna go in our little travel shelf um which has a lot of memories from our trucks okay we are off to the spa and so we're just getting a massage I am gonna try this uh treatment where it's supposed to help with sunburn uh my sunburn's a lot better thankfully she's got some color now yeah it's not Lobster red anymore but yeah hopefully that'll help the healing process some more because I needed you haven't really done that much vlogging since we got here and that's because the girls have pretty much just been at the kids club the whole day I haven't wanted to get in there and stick a camera in their face I just wanted to give them their space to do their own thing um but yeah it's just been super relaxing the girls have been offlaying with the kids club staff and serge and I have been able to just like relax yeah it's been nice yeah got a little work done as well which it's a lot of videos I'm trying to get out you guys like the end of the year is coming and it's like everything's piling up right now but we also did manage to enjoy the resort as well enjoy some beach time pool time foreign [Applause] [Music]
