We Started Planting!!

hey good morning Anna good morning how are you it's going to be a great day to plant [Music] corn little bit Breezy not yet as sunny as it was yesterday but I think it'll get there morning it's windy the sun isn't out quite bright enough it'll get there is it going to well I don't know I'm just being hopeful I hope so yeah dirt on the floor Anna dirt on the floor that never happens we are going to calibrate the TCM on this no I don't remember what TCM stands for but it has to do with calibrating the receiver that yellow receiver on top of the cab right there so that the machine knows it's positioning better it's not typically when you start it and tells you to calibrate it it'll just walk you right through it into that procedure no I don't the new monitors don't do that you have to go in okay yeah so so go down to the menu um go to Applications that's not it no go to apps now go isobus VT and uh now go to setup tab on the top right there and there's calibration on the bottom in the middle now we run we run it through the calibration once Mark where the axle is in a very professional Way by scratching a line on the gravel with your foot like this this see you don't always need a micrometer and then he spins it around 180° and we line it up with my marks right here side to side and front to back I don't believe if you're off a few inches it's really a big deal but we try to get as close as we [Applause] can pretty lined up there and close enough there we still got some rocks to pick also you would think after 150 6 or seven years most of those rocks would be gone but we keep finding them now this is a chemical that we're going to put on top of our Water trailer our spray trailer we're going to use this as a pre-emerge herbicide on our corn Acres we haven't done a whole lot of that the last few few years because we've been able to get back and get a post emerge on it um so the way we're going to do it this year and the reason is because we're having some pretty big water hemp issues up here that's a weed that's gotten kind of nasty it's hard to control there's tons of seeds on it so if you get a field where you get a bunch in it it takes off quickly over the following years and we have about 20 to 30% of our corn Acres this year that have a bad water hemp problem so as after I'm done planting it dad's going to come in with the sprayer after after I've moved on to the next field and just spray over the top of that that'll keep a lot of those water hemp seeds from sprouting from germinating from taking off and becoming a [Music] plant all of a sudden we've got a yard full of green machines I'm pretty excited about this planter now it's not totally different from what we had before after we had the um upgrade kit on it with the high-speed row units before so this has essentially the same row units as far as I know to this point but it's got the exact rate fertilizer system on it which we're going to learn a lot about today tomorrow as we go there's going to be a lot of benefits to that as far as the return on investment when it comes to fertilizer I think is going to be pretty crazy for both corn and some of the stuff that we may want to put on the soybeans working hard on her more like hardly working what are you doing she just wanted more choke than I gave it got to remember how to run all this stuff now it's been a while what are you driving um let's see where are you from the town of Al all right we got 50 units of seed into this side that's going to plant about 120 Acres or so we're going to put a separate Variety in the back half so we can split the planter and test the two against each other all right we're setting the planter up now we're working on this exact shot fertilizer system which we're going to talk about a little bit later but the first thing was to get all the air bled out of the lines and make sure we've got good pressure here so we've got buttons on the back of the planter there's actually manual buttons back here to test so you can turn the pump on you can adjust the pump and then you can do a manual test here just for visual checking so we can turn the system on and we can actually visually see the rows right now we've just got water in there but we can see all the nozzles are working everything's good looks like we got the air purged out of there okay I'm sure this is easier but since I've never done it yep where is it anytime you see the word tools on any of the screens so like up there it says tools on the bottom or you can use tools over there same button like tools frame control neutral status Okay so like your fold box so Wing wheel lift is the first thing you look C and then you'll hold SCV number one why to do that breaks like it there we go okay so SCV number one you'll hold down just like that first switch it you usually hit on your box where I usually on the box I had to hold it yep so now it's all the way down so now I go to Wing fold you'll have to drop your three-point then just like you used to so you're down underneath your locks there you go and now you use that same SUV number one and hold down and unfold okay so basically this is the Box buttons but I don't have to hold them you're neutral now I am yeah so that's just the Box broken down into into the display these newer Planters they have the fold and unfold up on the monitor which is really nice it's Sleek it gets rid of that box in the capab but I had never used that yet I've used the box for I don't know 10 15 years I'd never used the monitor looks pretty new inside there hope you don't get it Dusty well looks clean yeah yep the planter is full and I think ready to go and lunch has been eaten so here we go I should be a poet ready Anna you just going to walk on past me oh you want to go for a ranger ride I keeping in transport yet right yep uh no you went to plant back you got to go to wind wheel left just yep so on the bottom Wing wheel left and deselected we need to tap the plan so there you go I think our rain is done this actually looks pretty nice and right here yeah this got this got tilled last night so this is dried a little bit more where you I mean you can kind of see the darker draws through there like that was a little sticky last night but we wanted to get going we're planting you guys missed a little bit of setup and some calibrations but we're planting and apparently onx had to come check it out the wind is just whipping out there things have dried up so fast well it's a good thing they got here with the Digger cuz I'm just about caught up to where we hadn't tilt yet cuz we had Ura spread different type of nitro spread over here all right guys I'm not going to lie to you there was a little bit of today that kind of got skipped and it's because a lot of this stuff is over my head and so I just kind of went with it and and worked with Colton we did get we got almost 100 acres in the ground let me show you this see that planter back there watch this that's how that's how a planter normally is lit up at night but now we got this lighting kit yeah that's pretty awesome anyway I'm done for the night cuz I have caught up to where there's fresh digging right now and it's a little bit sticky yet so we want to get some sunshine on that in the morning before I get going and on top of that I want to adjust something in the roll cleaners to get them up just a little bit higher easy adjustment but I got to do it at the shop and I've been planting this way it's fine but I want to change that anyway so these are the New Gen 5 monitors here uh this one is like a secondary monitor it is a Gen 5 but that's the one with the brains in it and this one you can just toggle back and forth it's nice to have two pages so you can switch between the two pages and go back and forth and you can set them both up to whatever you want on them so it's a much bigger display all touchscreen very smooth it's got seed star five on it everything's integrated it's the most beautiful monitor there is you know it I know it everybody knows it as far as the fertilizer system goes the exact shot we're going to get into that maybe a little bit more tomorrow for sure in a couple of days here but I wasn't actually applying on this field so I've still got some stuff to learn on that but that is a really cool system I'll uh I'll show that all to you guys obviously it's pretty cool I got the first day jitters out so that was that was much easier to do without having to remember to roll the camera the whole time sorry I'm thinking it was even stickier out there than I thought so I probably made the right choice cuz you don't really you shouldn't you don't you don't want that yeah it's late enough I I don't regret quitting for
