hey guys it's been almost a year since this game came out and I think a lot of people are still wondering if it's really worth playing can you get into tactical RPGs with this one is it good for beginners or veterans alike I'll tell you all about that in the video so let's begin [Music] triangle strategy sure was a very very anticipated game as people thought mainstream strategy RPGs would make a comeback well they did so I think this game accomplished what it set out to do and if you've been following my channel for a while or since this game came out you probably already noticed I absolutely loved it I think it's a masterpiece really really worth playing but is it worth it for you is it worth it for everybody I want to start with that I can't tell you right now if these will be everyone's cup of tea hence this review first of all forget about all the Final Fantasy Tactics or tactics order comparisons this game may look a little bit like them but it's vastly different camera may appear isometric like in those two but in reality you can move it around 360 Degrees if you want to Second there's no job system only a class system which I'll get to in a bit and third you don't hire generic job characters here everyone has a personality a backstory and some are important to the plot in fact depending on your choices some optional characters may appear out there in the world map and you can recruit them lots of other differences are there but I think I just gave you a good gist of it triangle strategy tells the story of a reclusive continent and hasn't seen the ocean in ages no one knows what's beyond it so resources are very limited one such resource ironically is salt and a war is about to breakout because everyone wants to control its distribution yeah that's pretty much a big Fu to the USA if you catch my drift serenoa is from a renowned and Powerful house he's the main character about to marry Frederica from yet another house because of the war oversold in iron and frederica's race all sorts of issues will lead one thing to another I've praised the story narrative and writing of this game as well as its fantastic translation it truly is one of the best stories ever written for a modern jrpg hands down to make matters even better for players like me this is a true role-playing game one where your decisions matter multiple roots and four different endings are there you can get all three Endings by Saving on sept files on your first playthrough but to get the true ending you need to have completed the game at least once so tons of replay value here guys now let's talk a little bit about the game's structure in that regard and then we'll get to ITS Tactical gameplay but first I'd like to say that yes it's true the game has a lot of dialogue but it's very rich in story and development and there's close to zero nonsensical Slice of Life stuff here or filler dialogue and it's not a visual novel by any means the most you'll spend reading in a few parts is 40 minutes and that's it no offense out there but I really do believe a lot of reviewers and influencers exaggerated on this criticism anyway on to the skills of conviction mechanic every time the game reaches a major decision point it has to be taken by all eight protagonists no even though this game also has HD 2D graphics and has the same producer it holds no relationship with octopath traveler so your characters will have different points of view on every subject it's up to you to decide first which route you want to take and then convince everybody else that your decision is best during persuasion a set of arguments will appear and you can select between them or even add one more if you perform an investigation before to do that you find clues or talk to people in town or wherever you are during these scales of conviction point if your arguments are really poor then a character might leave but I never saw anyone do that during my playthrough once you have presented all your arguments it'll be voting time you'll know then how many of your allies you actually convinced if the majority doesn't vote for your decision however then you'll go to a different route and plan so be prepared for that now I don't know about you but I thought this feature was awesome and added way more weight and spies to both your decisions and The Roots phenomenal idea in my opinion foreign let's talk about combat now it's a grid-based strategy RPG where you'll deploy up to 8 characters matter of fact you have a full party since the beginning of the game everyone has regular attacks and skills that use points one thing here is the Tactical points that you need for those skills everyone needs a few turns to be able to use them once and then more turns to use them again or use others I'll be honest I wasn't the biggest fan of this little feature it's like putting an unnecessary restriction to your strategies but honestly it's no big deal mission objectives will vary but in the majority you'll have to defeat All Enemies terrain matters here not as much as in other tactical RPGs but it does you can use it to your advantage by positioning your characters as you see fit actually there are a few missions in the game that do revolve around the use of terrain but nothing complex plus Mages can use eyes or fire spells for example to block enemies or to damage them sometimes characters placed on both sides of an enemy will perform a helping attack and yes this game is also one of those where attacking someone from behind increases the damage worry not because if someone dies they just leave for that mission there is no Perma death here whatsoever this game has an easy a normal and a hard mode normal will be a somewhat grindy as there are quite a few challenging missions easy is fine not too easy and more balanced than you think no matter what this game won't be a walk in the park unless you grind everyone like crazy remember when I mentioned there's no job system but instead a class system characters only have one class the entire game and with points earned after leveling up they can increase stats or unlock skills eventually they'll class up to be more powerful through the weapon ranking system which is basically that a class system however you also need materials to unlock these stats and abilities some you'll get from treasure chests others by buying them at your Camp you also get kudos points after battle and you can exchange them for a variety of items like upgrade skills precisely to rank up your characters so you see the game gives you everything every tool you can think of to make your experience better it doesn't hinder your progress with nasty spikes or level Caps or Perma depth instead it offers possibilities Galore to use at your advantage in a battle system that's quite balanced [Music] finally I suggest you play this game with the Japanese dub I personally found the English dub to be kinda dull and boring with most characters they felt more impactful and dramatic in Japanese but that's just my personal taste overall I still think triangle strategy is a masterpiece everything is done right even the music which isn't Stellar but it gets the job done easily it really Blends in perfectly with situations and battles so to answer the questions of this video yes I do recommend this strategy RPG for beginners but I would emphasize using the easy mode don't worry it's not gonna be very easy or anything I think the challenge will be up to nearly everyone's level on that mode yes I also recommend it for veterans alike normal and hard modes over a solid challenge that won't disappoint I think can you get into strategy RPGs with this game absolutely as I mentioned the game is friendly while keeping that difficulty on Taps without annoying spikes but also with that super Shenanigans in conclusion then yes this game is really really worth playing and I do recommend it for everyone out there don't be afraid of the strong story focus and heavy dialogue it's worth it and it will most likely impress you at certain points of the story there's nothing convoluted here it's easy to understand easy to get into and appeals to all types of RPG Gamers out there it's on Steam and switch so yeah definitely give it a try thanks for watching don't forget to subscribe and share this video with your friends see you next time [Music]
