We lost our brakes in Yellowstone.

this summer we're spending 40 days on the road with no plan except to Yellow wet to Yellowstone last week we made it all the way to Buffalo Bill State Park in Wyoming just outside the Eastgate Yellowstone and this week we make it into the park but unfortunately get stranded with a mechanical issue in West Yellowstone but we're making the best of it so follow along [Music] oh hello guys look at this place this is insane [Music] I don't think I've ever seen a view like that that is incredible [Music] [Music] [Music] okay Henry you have a seat here's your mac and cheese [Music] it's in your burger [Music] look at that [Music] I had to just capture this ring of clouds around this mountain [Music] what do you got Jackalope antlers a dig it those are perfect the big antlers boy yeah some new kit for this trip page got a washing machine this doesn't fit on the sink I need your help figuring out the best option okay she's setting it up all right so I'm trying my washing machine out for the first time in the RV so the inverter is on so that I have power the water pumps on so I have water Outlet back here um and I'm set up in the shower and then it'll drain right into the shower and we're at a really good angle for draining the shower luckily at the moment so this is how much laundry is in here and then the soap's in there already everyone's been pretty conservative about putting things in the laundry like they have to actually be dirty or smell bad so um and then this is like when I'm not washing but I just sort of picked through and then got people's Essentials I think I'm gonna try to get a warmish temperature going oh yeah okay yeah so just we'll agitate like this for 10 minutes we'll drain it and then I'll agitate it again with a rinse load just clean water and then we'll do the spin this is kind of crazy I gotta see how much power season [Music] it's like 20 amps is that okay yeah yeah it's like 240 Watts we've got a thousand watt inverter you should be able to handle okay okay so the wash cycle is done here's the dirty water we're gonna drain it everyone's excited to see this it's a whole family affairs oh my gosh that is dirty water oh did you take that green plug out oh it's like painful to watch this fill the gray tank so much I'm just so used to conserving space but there's a dump tank here I mean a dump station here so guys our stay at the uh our stop at the people would say Thermopylae in Rome Thermopolis the thermal Metropolis of Wyoming I think it was Thermopolis our stay at Thermopolis was awesome the problem is that I smell like sulfur and every time I like turn around and walk back through my own shadow I smell a match head and it's me why didn't you take a shower I'm gonna have to take a shower but you're using all the water in the shower but when I'm done you can if you [Music] this is dope yeah Henry wanted to go on a nighttime Adventure here we are here we are is mine on yeah someone sent us this one to check it out what's it called trust fire I'll put the model number on the screen it's a much brighter whiter light than mine so that's your Spotlight right yeah that's my brightest all right let me turn my Spotlight as bright as it goes yeah it's it's serious I wonder how long it actually lasts the battery on that but it's only spot it's not flood I used it outside at home one time and it was like you had no peripheral vision sorry and I can't you can't look at anybody else in your camp with you because they'll go blind so it would be really good for like cooking outside or like doing something because it's really like focused on what you're looking at but not as good as like a hiking other people kind of using it for their periphery does that make sense guys I like your hand he got it out of his way then he's rocking the petzl classic AAA batteries it's good that's a really good one yeah we have two of those now pages is rechargeable yeah I think so just like plug USB in which is a really nice feature I will say this one's also rechargeable with USB but it's kind of weird it's got like a magnetic charger like you know if you ever had like an apple mag safe rechargeable triple triple recharge they're all over and then this one it's got a USB cord but it it's it's magnetic on one end I'll show you in a minute oh that thing here I'll light it up boom bam okay now do you mind thanks to Sears it is a 17650 lithium battery those are pretty standard back when I Vaped that's when I rocked so I do have a charger for that in the garage somewhere back when I Vaped I do think that my Spotlight is bigger than yours but but yeah you can make a shelf out of that and this one's like okay [Applause] let's wrap up this adventure kid stop him bird time I'm gonna hike all the way back to RV I can't even see it anymore you can hold my stick yeah ready kiddo here's a better look at it trust fire it's the trustfire mc18 I believe don't mind the toilet flushing sounds star toilet flushing [Music] it comes with the head strap which is cool it's like the goes over the top and the sides that was cool um a little bit of padding in the strap itself on the front part interesting shape you could definitely take it out of this case and use it as a little 90 degree flashlight but yeah button on the side one button lights up maybe to show you how much batteries left uh press it again press and hold and it comes on press again press again press again different brightness so it's got four different levels of brightness that's pretty nice too very good Spotlight my main complaint is the charger and that's like one of the things that you know as a feature of this model is the magnetic charger and you can see it just magnetically goes on there right so that's cool you're not fussing around with a USB cord trying to figure out which way is up my biggest concern is if I lose this cable I can't charge this on the road anymore so you know this is not Precious Cargo hopefully I won't lose it maybe that's not a big problem for some people again my only concern we roll with a bunch of headlamps I think I bet we brought five or six of them different methods charging videos and that includes YouTube content in national parks and so I'm messing around with the permit process to see if I can get one it takes a long time and I don't know if it'll work and so we're not really going to be showing you much inside the national parks uh should I tell them the loophole there's a loophole we are not monetized over on Instagram it will probably um just take the biggest highlights that we see in the park and make some reels over there for you to see um but I'm not too upset about it I feel like everyone knows you should come to Yellowstone and see it for yourself like yeah and go watch the National Geographic documentary on it not ours right um and we're really excited to be showing you all the fun stuff you can do along the way because it's way up here in the middle of nowhere so seeing us get here and get out of here and all the stuff around is really what you need from us we're going to be camping in West Yellowstone which is on the Montana side and that seems like it's a cool little town so we'll take you around that and show you you'll get to see all of the around Yellowstone Parts but we're gonna hit the road and take you on the probably 30 mile I just said in the sea it's an RV park what a day yeah we'll tell you more about everything we saw in a bit but look I reorganized the cabinet I put the peanut butter at the front it's very important we got lost trying to find the peanut butter we were watching bison um I'm working on dinner making some potatoes and some hot dogs hot dogs [Music] [Music] what do you guys think Pate says it fits it's only physically pushing against this the RV and all the trees I would call that very unsuccessful hey do you have any remarks about our unsuccessful attempts me too [Music] good morning today is I think Wednesday Tuesday you got three days back Tuesday and we're not gonna go into the national park today so you'll be seeing a lot more of us over here and just a reminder that if you want to see some little highlights from um Yellowstone those will be on our Instagram we're planning to take a day off but we actually have quite a lot of things that we need to get done today I have just started a couple loads of laundry Casey needs to call a mechanic when they open five minutes ago that's it but that's a lot it feels like a lot we also wanted to kind of take the bikes into town and do a little bit of like touristing around at the gift shops there that's the plan for the day and we'll take you along I hope you guys are enjoying seeing our adventures sure on the um on the service stations in the park is there a long lead time for that just to elaborate on what Paige said um we need a oil change the tire rotation which we kind of would do for that before we left town we just didn't have time for it so whatever we'll find that anywhere on the road but yesterday when we were in Yellowstone there's a lot of traffic a lot of stop and go and our brakes started screeching like crazy so I think our brakes are worn out on the front needs new brake pads and I'm really is much like braking as you're doing going up and down mountains and bad traffic in the park I don't want to tear up our brake rotors so trying to find someone that'll put some new brake shoes on that that's the priority for right now today is getting brakes done and then if we get that figured out we'll get an oil change anywhere else on the road although I have had trouble talking these repair shops oh hang on guys hey this is Mike Mike's mobile repair Mike how are you man hey um yeah are you able to do like brake pads on a Class A Parts availability is the hardest part of that I looked I looked and Napa can get I'm here in West Yellowstone Napa can get him here by Wednesday so they can overnight them tonight so how long are you in town for I'm here until Thursday but we're flexible too yeah I should be able to do that for you that's my things that's what I heard I've caught a few places and everyone steered me your way so is it like a Ford is it a Ford it's a Workhorse GM yeah okay yeah it's a p32 okay yeah that's what I do so hold the mic came through he wants me to go over to Napa um [Music] [Music] about to make some lunch and do a little bit of meal prep while we're in the kitchen we have a big thing of chicken Casey's gonna split it in half and marinate half for tacos and half for Greek chicken yep I don't think we have to freeze it yet we should but we should we've had bad luck with me we have had bad luck and I'm just getting out we're gonna make charcuterie so I'm gonna use up remnants of things here and we have cheese and meat and stuff so I'm gonna make some snacky kind of lunch we buy something cheap [Music] throw off this this Campground I got this now this one's too quick like this and this okay [Music] thank you [Music] [Applause] [Music] okay it's time for me to find my travel hat because I always get a hat on every trip like this one can do stupid Jason back where it was back in the water it's kind of a catching release but there is a real bear right there oh my gosh he's real how would you uh score that Library really good for a little one it has a research room oh yeah the reference room stuff on Montana which is cool he was wrong do you order him we ordered them so I bought I didn't tell the camera we uh I bought brake pads they had a set in stock here but uh I called back and said hey I need to order the same ones for the rear because we're going to do both and he said I've got some on the Shelf back here and then it was the same stock that he sold me today their inventory hadn't updated it was like ah crap got the feeling in your bones [Music] [Music] [Music] it's really hard to mix I think I would like to get a hand mixer like I know it's an electric tool but it was probably maybe run off the gym oh yeah they're not that hard and it just you can't I can't mix yeah it's good though thank you but yeah okay night cookie night cookies set a timer for 11 minutes 11 minutes cookies down fridge or freezer yeah because this is going to be a dozen oh they're done and everything nature shows me makes me talk [Music] oh I like that flower oh good morning guys there's nothing in the world Henry wanted more today than to have waffles at Yogi Bear's Waffle House thanks to my mom who suggested that we watch some episodes of Yogi Bear in preparation coming here uh which turned out to be very appropriate he saw the carved up Yogi yesterday now he's gonna have it also before we do that we're gonna go pick out some brake pads from Napa they should be here for us thank you [Applause] it sees me and we did your coffee well he puts cream in it nice job dude the stops are being pulled out today we ran into our Mobile Mechanic at Napa which was funny but he can't work on the RV until tomorrow which is our checkout day so now we have to find somewhere to park the RV tomorrow so he can get started anticipating it going on past check out tonight yeah let's do another day in Yellowstone except not in Yellowstone because we're not moving the RV until I get the break it's nice to slow down and the Yogi Bear waffle place was closed for no explicit reason today the Timberline we're the funniest three-person Booth I've ever seen goes around the fireplace Henry claims he's very tired even though he slept for 11 hours didn't you we'll get some french toast in him maybe we'll get these guys haircuts today that's a good plan for today this is the French toast made with banana bread as the bread so I'm really excited it's very classic just regular pancakes made out of Pancakes you need some help with that no I got it okay [Music] human being [Music] so we're gonna be kind of stuck here for another day and a half it looks like and so I decided to go ahead and start some sourdough bread looks kind of soupy right now I've still gotta add the flour these are the kinds of things we can't like do when we're stuck or choose to stay somewhere and just kind of hang out for a minute this town is very small and touristy and we've kind of seen it also why not make the most of the little things we can do around camp thank you [Music] so I'll just put the lid on that let it rise that Kate's been about an hour and a half and this is losing quite a bit so it's time to split it in half and let it rise some more I know me too I want us to deal let's deal you into our game of war I was just trying to get in this shot I'm trying to get outside dad are you gonna get this shot too mom's bread shot put your head down the shop you did it okay get off me I'm old all right the next thing I'm going to do is come with a big knife no cut [Music] okay [Music] what no light or whatever the first one yeah pile it on that's how the gas goes and then it's once you get enough gas going it'll just go it's that little brass tube yeah it's are we sure about this can I do it I'm striking everywhere that there could possibly be gas coming out of an order is it on yeah how did you get it I've just done it before the tiniest little pilot life yeah so then we got to turn it up 475 yep oh is it only 425 so let's look yeah and then when that turns off like that it's preheated so you just kind of listen for the gas to go you just kind of check [Music] I haven't got a proper bread it's called knife that's good yeah don't work for you I just got red hand voyage conjoined but that's okay let's go this is really good it's really good open face peanut butter and jelly homemade bread your mustache looks really good right now oh my God you're glowing is it because maybe because we're in Montana yeah the pesos usually like the mustache oh I can still see your top lip though that's perfect I did trim a little bit Yeah so Henry and I really want to go horseback riding since we're in cowboy country in Yellowstone like the national park that would be cool because there's Outfitters that are like registered and able to do that so I was looking into it a lot of them have age restrictions there's one that has half days so it's like four hours five and up he's six they allow it and I said Casey what's our what's our horseback riding budget like what can I spend on this and he says what he always says I think I said whatever you want you see it or like whatever it's worth you know whatever that's worth you or whatever it wasn't worried about and so I'm like you know thinking about okay I gotta book this thing it's gonna be kind of expensive but it's gonna be so epic really worth it I just said Casey something about our 500 horseback ride is coming up and he goes what when I said and he just didn't imagine it could be that yeah no I just like I thought of a reasonable price and like I was like yeah whatever that's fine whatever it is I don't you know but my God 500 to ride a horse that's 250 a person and they really don't let like just one person he's not gonna have 250 worth of fun there's no way so we're looking to horseback riding in Montana because there's gonna be more options for that so I I'm not saying don't do it I'm really not but my goodness I think that's way too much money I just thought it was funny because I asked you the budget and then when I told you how much it was you were still flabbergasted I'm gonna when someone when someone asks like hey can I jump off this thing I assume we're all still Bound by the laws of physics I didn't realize that it's very expensive what's wrong with you people that are paying no no 500 to go on horse rides listen they meet you in the park so they trailer their horses so you have to drive 100 miles to get to it okay stop meet them at the thing and hop on a horse and then they pack you lunch anyway we're looking down I'm taking your switch away for a week congratulations I told you not to touch it and you did it three times so I just stared right at you and I can't believe that you're so so for all of you who are always commenting that Henry's an angel and we're never yelling at each other we're arguing and he's being a did you talk about our dinner tonight wait is that still our dinner plan I don't want to get them all worked up you know they are we're going to eat at the bus going to eat at the Taco Bus there's a taco restaurant in a bus in Downtown West Yellowstone which we think is very appropriate haven't moved in two full days five yeah two full days since we've been to the park yeah so when that happens we get really settled in and when I say settled in what I mean is you know like this it's got brake pads all over the place just [Music] shovels do you like drop down the hyperspace spaces come to hyperspace jump to light speed it's hyperspace not hyper speed hyperspace jump okay let's did and we love it because I think that I think that a lot of times when we're traveling we're seeing really incredible places but we also get reminded of how amazing our home is especially when we're driving through some really boring areas we go wow this is this is quite a ride and we live somewhere more beautiful I thought you liked it because it's going to be in the Ravine and where you know that's where we live no matter where we're stopped oh yeah we can look at it that way too okay thanks Mom cool sticker dope I can't he's really shaking us you got it [Music] hello hello a little overlap with my lab it's inevitable oh yeah looks like the Bear's gonna roast the fish in the fire [Music] I'm good yeah brake pad set too interesting fact about our workhorse p-32 chassis some of you have the exact same idea of this so yeah and this was we had a hard time figuring out at Napa because they only had one set of pads listed yeah and they were listed as front pads they didn't have rear pads or shoes and if we had drum brakes turns out that uh on the Workhorse it's the exact same pads and calipers on both axles so and Henry would buy two sets of the front pads Henry was wondering about brakes on those right just one break per set of wheels the things we learned about Vehicles was not a truck guy [Laughter] [Music] [Applause] opinions are being scientists it's great and we have found some specimen to identify what do you have there Henry tell us this is a dandelion Leaf okay so did you get the flower too they empty in the flap you can just hold it up without the magnifying for the camera this is a dandelion our guide talks about how many needles grow in a specific little cluster so if you take just one little thing this one has two all the other pine trees have grew in bundles of five but the lodge pole Pine grows in bundles of two and has one little Pokey on each of these so it's a logical Pine [Applause] look at the carpet one did you tell them about the brake spawn no they were fine I'll tell them Casey made us sit in the RV park for two days and everything was fine but no in the name of safety you did the right thing he was worried that our brakes would like murder us and that's there but it is a little frustrating to realize after the mechanic finally makes it out to look at everything that everything was fine we could have been doing whatever we wanted for two days right that is frustrating that's frustrating I don't have a choice when your brakes making noise yeah we did the safe thing and that's the right thing what he thinks is that our brakes overheated at some point which I mean we were on our brakes a lot because there's a lot of bad traffic in Yellowstone um and that caused the glaze to form on the brake pads which is real squeaky but there's plenty of meat left on the brake pads and we're not wearing any grooves in the rotors so we're safe the assignment that was not the case the last time we tried it three days ago very little traffic at the gate today If You're Gonna Go into a national park or a couple of national parks within a year get the pass it's only eighty dollars and you get to go through the fast lane here the covers all your other party sticks and if you do like us and you don't come in for three days you can just come back yeah I feel like it's a much slower stress you can see where the prepaid online cool how affordable all of this stuff is and ours is the entry agency pass yeah which also gets us into like national monuments which we're gonna visit on this trip yeah the Black Hills and um Yellowstone I mean no Rushmore the people yeah Mount Rushmore Crazy Horse that's a state park all right good how are you good thanks thanks a lot good thing you too all right YouTube we'll see you on like still around so everyone gets to have a cookie now it's a lunch break I'm not filming the national park we're filming the inside of our RV that's legal right I just wanted you to see what it's like to just be able to pull over and have lunch in the wilderness and that's what's happening there's Paige there's the lunch and there's the wilderness now quit looking it's against the law not the law let's get into the rules of the party Henry I'm gonna make you a sandwich too do you want one so let's do it [Music] so we just left through the North Gate and all the campgrounds in this town right here are booked so we're gonna shoot for a campground that has three first come first serve spots and hope that even though it's 4 45 there's one available for us if not we'll see it's like right yeah this road now all of a sudden I'm on a mountain that's Yellowstone in there totally safe this is down there the storage required yeah they don't have beer lockers yeah way up here what is that gardener compost behind we have made it to the campground but I can't see it I think it's one two and three that are first come first served this is double slice it's got something written it can you go read that hey so yes it says 16 and 17 our first number uh that's the last spot then they get it I'm Gonna Be Sad they were ahead of us so that's taken we're 17. oh he's gonna get it that sucks get it Casey go through pull through the right way s he was like one car in front of us damn it if I hadn't got gas wait at it all right so we have no internet but we have our Verizon so Casey can't look on the iPad but I have my phone up and I found on campendium there's another campground that's all first come first serve um 20 minutes north of us yeah we're not coming up this mountain again so enjoy the view while we're out here I mean it is it is steep it's rolling in and I keep thinking we should avoid them there's those spots but they're probably the people who reserved the spots ahead of time maybe so these are not yellow people like us um yeah and then there's uh just like we'll just keep going north from there there's more campgrounds but basically like other than going back into the park we kind of have to keep going north that's what we're gonna do okay we made it to Canyon campgrounds a little further up the road where are the loops I'm thinking that from here we'll just stay one night we'll see how we feel right now it's raining so it's like why would you want to stay here oh is this one Numero Uno oh that's them never mind another spot option everyone one degree I mean but it's that way Boondocks oh that way two degrees okay Pakistan we need to hear our dinner someone's coming up on us how's it going okay yeah let's go [Music] home [Music] [Music] [Applause]
