hey y'all just wanted to add this in here  real quick um when I went to go edit this   video I realized that something was up with our  audio but didn't realize it till after the fact   so I apologize for the loud bird singings the  roosters crowing uh or microphones were really   picking up the background noise so I think  some settings or something have got messed   up but anyways just wanted to throw this in  here I hope y'all enjoy the video Hey Y'all   it's Megan welcome back to the channel glad  y'all are here today in today's video we want   to show y'all how we're going to make some  trellises for our beans uh completely free   if it does work it's going to be pretty too yes  ABS not only is it going to be free it's pretty   that's right this can be done with anything  other than what we're using well yeah yeah you   know you could use sticks or trees out of the  wood little small saplings anything would work could y'all tell from the dust just how dry and  Dusty this soil is here look at this it's like a powder tiled up pretty nice though we had a  comment in the last video saying that we needed   to pick up some rocks in that bed y'all we've  picked up so many rocks around here and they   just keep growing I think we've probably picked  up a pickup truck load of rocks out of these   three beds right here and rocks just grow around  here it's just part of part of where we live the   first things we're going to do is cleaning the  cleaning this cane off so it's just one clean   stop um and then we're throwing the leaves into  the cows here it it don't hurt um bamboo cane all   that stuff is basically a grass it just grows a  little different than your normal grass you think of and then you're just cutting  the limbs off I'm going to keep   using over there and I'll use it to go by we made uh made hot dog sticks out  of river cane too that we actually   still have at the creek it made good hot  dog sticks too shoot this stuff at good everything just takes a little  bit to get it clean right this   probably is the most timec consuming part of it so we'll see how good we do about keeping them up once we get into that time it's just  like we always say is when it comes time   to start cleaning up the garden you seem  like you're just a little bit burn out on   it you kind of focus on other things  besides the garden so we're out here   where you saw us get up the potatoes and  I found a few more potatoes while I Ted   it did you yeah right there Lees one  now I see it got chopped up of course but yeah I figured we would I can't never get  them all when you dig them by hand I know all   right so what we're going to do is make us like a  teape style trellis um I've seen so many of these   on Facebook and YouTube and stuff and I've seen a  lot of um older people around the community do it   too and I just always thought they look so pretty  but we've just never took the time to make one so   we're going to do that I'm going to take I wonder  how many I need to put in each TP so there's three four I'm G to try to get it situated to  where all the big ends are towards the   bottom there's five six seven let's go eight  be an even number okay eight all right want   to get them all even I guess it'll probably  be more important to have them even on the bottom so this will be what it sits  on then it's going to take me a Hy string and get it probably situated  I don't know maybe about right there tight fairly tight I have no  idea if I'm doing this right or not   y'all it this just kind of worked out in  my head that this would work but it may not they may slide that's why I'm wondering  should you wrap it in between some uper the   top well no cuz the top will be opened up yeah the  top going to be open we going we're going to find   out how well it works out cuz what I a to do now  is once I stand it up I'll just spread the legs out I mean it may and it may not work but  in my mind it's going to work it's going   to work I'm going to take this other  loose end here and just tie it off yeah there you go are you going to put them in  the ground what the legs yeah yeah we'll smash   me in just a little way hardest part's  going to be getting them all spread out even look at that that's just PL key yeah  yeah leave that middle one right there   that'll be a Port right in the middle  and spread these out just a little bit more that and slide on down what do you think let's get them drove  drove down in the ground that way you know   cuz once this thing gets loaded up with peas  running up it you don't want it to fall well   it's probably going to have some weight to  it too and then it'll have a lot of surface   area so if the wind comes through here it  could just blew it all over you know what I mean at least it ground's halfway soft  yeah it is now only bad thing is pull   you it's okay if you pull it no I'm  saying want to pull it out like at the   ground the ground so soft you make  push that down I ain't strong with you boy we be to talking now that's just Plum  pretty looking now if this works like I think   it will I just wonder the only thing I'm  concerned about is this being so slick that   them beans can't hold on to hold on to it  you know cuz even if they wrap around it it   still slick don't yeah we'll find out them  things are usually pretty good at grabbing home well way it's spread out now I'm just going  to try it so the wind most likely will come from   that way because them trees right there are going  to block any of that wind so I mean it's pretty   sturdy the only thing I see is it's wanting to  slide right there in my joint you should do what   take you another Hy and start on one and go in and  weave them a little bit that may work me the kids   Lear that one of our KN your knock tying classes  yeah remember I told you I've been teaching them   how to tie kn one of them was how to build a  shelter this was that part of your school yes   they something oh yeah that right there's going  to work real good and then we'll go in and out   weave in and out and then go back up over we done  a little bit of something like this in Boy Scouts   one time I think we built like they made us go  out and build a shelter out of nothing but stuff   that was in the woods and the only thing we had  was the piece of rope and they taught us how to   do this but golly that's been been a few years  that's been a long time ago me come over here   I I ain't enough to help you I think I got it  I pull it tight and that squeezes everything   together right yes sir that looks good and you  know what once we we're done with it we should   be able to just pull it up and take it down and  put it up until and like push it back together   yeah like a like you would a tripod yeah this is  the mo this is the old age tripod right here we   need to rig something like this up to put the  camera on yeah that's just PL C it is ain't it look at that oh yeah that's  a lot more sturdy okay well we   just got to do that two more times  two more times you got them enough   maybe if we don't we don't this end right here  is the main end anyways that up there don't get   near as much sun so we have it here and you  know once we do this we've got enough room   that we can plant something in between plant  some L Lakes for well I already got lak for down well that's true we're going  to have to water it once we plant   look ain't going to get no squash  out of my yeah you will yeah you yeah we might plant a couple Lake Spar plants and  something we need to plant some more zucchini cuz   we've only got one zucchini plant left let's  make two more all right we'll put one there   we've got one there and then we have one here  and then one towards this is going to be so cool   I've always wanted one then Jared at flu has one  this year I think it's finless um Garden he's got   one in that they're letting beans run up I can't  remember what type of bean it was he had planted on unless you went and sucker do some more  Tomatoes nah we don't need no more Tomatoes we got   Tomatoes Down Yonder well that's true that'll be  my late Tomatoes I if they live they ain't never   going to get no water on them I guess we should  go down there and water that Stu well we can water   but you know what daddy say he said you don't need  to worry about this dry spell right here because   everything's making Roots right he said you got  to have these dry spells cuz if you keep on wet   spells all the roots they don't grow they just  they don't have to grow cuz they don't have to   go hunt water right now the roots for all of our  plants are are hunting water so they're growing   that's true that's what Daddy's always said about  dry F he said ah it ain't no you worried about it   he said you got to have a dry SPO makes when you  cultivate like me cultivate your corn and stuff   like our field corn all or a garden or anything  they would run Shanks right up close to the plant   like deep Shanks and they always said they were  side FR in The Roots so that the plant would be   forced to grow more Roots straight down I don't  know you know that's what they always said said   you needed to run down that row and tear up those  side Roots so you'd Force roots to grow down so   that way when it got dry that they'd have Roots  down deep where the water was I know you always   want to be have some attention ain't you I just  hope if they grow all the way up here you going   to have to come out here and pick them for them  I just hope they grow period these are some older seeds I like that you put the one in  the middle though yeah I think that's   going to help support everything tiger like the dirt I believe I did that put that KN it's  close once we get it spread out we'll wrap   it up there at the top again yeah I got this one  tighter so you going to have to definitely help me choose that one you got your  hand on there to be the middle   that that one right there did you uh level upot I did kind of don't seem like I did  you need to come my way with you   or something cuz they got a lot of  room over here you're right on the edge okay we're getting close now which cool cool thing is is like once it gets   here then they'll just probably  keep going if they get that long that sturdy put another string on it y'all always   keep your hay string you never  know when you're going to need it I think they said a farmer can  fix anything with Hy string and   duct tape that's right and a pair of vice grips oh I hit a big rock in here yesterday with the  teller was it that one it may have been but it it   covered it back up so I didn't get it out but this  was I didn't real I forgot how rocky this was out here this is going to be just Plum C where is fluty look at is he in Kentucky or is it   West Virginia it's Kentucky a I'm pretty  sure he's in I think I heard him say one [Music] time all right even them all up [Music] tiger what SL dirt that from just that's just  that's just cute I don't know no   other way to describe it it is I love it [Music] [Music] yeah that middle one's loose maybe we fishing the top so we're planting some blackeyed peas out  here we ain't never grow blackeyed peas um we   not legit blackeyed peas well yeah I mean we  grow pink eyed peas and things like that but   we ain't never grow no legit blackeyed peas um  and this particular variety is a Vining type so   that's what we're going to plan out here Lord  knows we're going to have plenty of different   varieties of beans and peas this year ain't  that the truth as long long as everything goes   all right we have so many beans and peas planted  but let me tell yall why because we are suffering   right now for the beans and peas because we're  out I done been out of October beans are you out   of purple Hol I'm out of pink ey peas are you  yep left a few really yep yep so well I enjoy I   tell you what I enjoy a good Bean if we make a if  we make anything off of what we got planted we're   going to have more than we then probably than  you want to share that's bad thing it's Shing   the things yeah I think actually I think maybe  a long long time ago probably even before me and   you got together I grew some blackeyed peas out  of the store did I just bought a bag out of the   store and grew those and I don't remember if they  did good or not I I can't remember but we had the   extra room we wanted to try this trailer system  I mean because heck y' knowall it's completely   free besides our the time it took for us to get  it yeah I mean it has took some time here like   we worked on it yesterday evening getting stuff  and now this morning but um look at it and the   thing the cool thing is is if they hold together  right we should be able to reuse them next year   they may not last forever but right at least a  couple of years I'd say now these are a little   bit older seed they're packed for 20122 we've  had them stored in there with all the rest of   our seeds so hopefully they're still good well we  planted some other survival garden seeds this year   and they all did all right yeah so hopefully  these do too but you know what if they don't   do good we've got some other beans in there that  we can plant that running beans too that's right   I'm going to do just like Jared from fluty Lake  did and if you don't watch him be sure to check   out his stuff if you enjoy stuff like this I  mean he does a lot of things like we do well   go over and encourage him to make some more videos  like I don't know Jared personally but I do enjoy   watching his videos and he don't make near as  many as he used to so go over there and give him   a little bit of love and tell him tell him he we  need to see some videos all right so what he done   was planted a circle around each around each leg  of the teape so that's what I'm going to do hope I   ain't putting them too deep in the ground but it's  a dry they need to be on down in there a little ways but we'll come out here  in water probably late this evening that earth worm CW dring all the plan any around the center F no  cuz once they grow up I don't know how I'll get to them you want you want me to start on some  over here we you heard us talk about Jarry   just now over fluty lick Homestead is the  name of his channel but he's actually the   one that inspired our Berry Hill yep now  he don't have a Berry Hill of his own but   in a couple of his older videos he's got a  actual vegetable garden on this extremely   steep Hillside and I told Megan I said  if he can grow something on that Hillside   right there I said we can grow something on our  Hillside out Y and that's what inspired Barry Hill probably watered this pretty good yeah  it's a powder ain't it yeah I'm out are you   yeah are we not going to have enough you  got any more yeah there's a few in there here I need a few more did I plant some around that one I  think I did I don't know I'm trying to   think the rest is you keep tracking  my mind I think I got all this PL I got about 10 seeds left so that'll be perfect if  we have a few that don't come up that we want to replant this is where it comes in handy having  the garden right here at the house because right   now during this dry spell we're able to water  this easily you know we can get water water to   like the creek Garden if we pump it out of the  creek but easily I can just walk over here with   the water hose maybe I guess this will be a good  experiment we had people in the comments saying   plant your squash later and the both won't get  on I did see that I also saw that the hollers   tried that one time and it didn't work for them  cuz they they like they actually explained that   that's why they were planting their squash so late  was hoping that they was later than the bug cycle   right and it didn't work well they ain't too  far from and they're not that far from us so   um we'll see I mean I Ain say say that' be a good  uh good experiment I think I'm going to stick one   or two right here in the middle and being that  close to those beans oh it may run they may run   up the sunflower we got one over here in the rais  beds that the beans are running up them Kentucky   wonders want to run up everything but what they  supposed to ain't that I'll plant a squash this is   a we like to plant straight neck squash yeah this  is a yellow straight neck squash yeah just going   to punch me out a hole and put them in the ground  I'm going to do the same thing right over here   with the zucchini you know the only thing I see  that's going to be tough about this is keeping it   weeded so I think this bed here once everything's  up would be a really good idea to come in here and   put some hay on it with some ha because of that  grass yeah because this is going to probably get   well just the way everything's kind of just  scattered around it' be tough to weed since   we've only got one zucchini plant living  over there I'm going to go ahead and plant   another one right here we've got plenty of  yellow squash that seem to be doing okay so far all right then I'm going to plant since there's a little more room out  there I think I'll plant the Cucumbers out   there and we may just let them run on the  ground we'll plant this Acron squash right   here yeah Lake cucumbers don't do that great  so I don't have that much faith in them they   always seem to get eat up with disease yeah  they come up and they look good they come   up and grow fast we tried it two years in  a row remember last year we planted some   late ones too yeah you might get one picking  off of them and then they then they fall off see you know if they don't make  nothing it ain't like we got to   have them we just like to grow stuff that's about right out with this water H I can't I need just a   little more there we go I'm pretty sure  I know I usually have enough to get out here it must be hung on something up there one  of these days we're going to end up pulling SP   it down I tell you one thing about it when  when when Ground is this dry it's like it   won't take the water it has to get saturated  mean soaked in before it'll actually absorb the water I hope this works cuz this going  to be so pretty I know this might this   is L would be the prettiest garden  we ever had if it actually worked   I bet you we end up having potatoes come back  up in here oh we have potatoes come back up   everywhere we ever plant potato yeah I guess  that's a sign that we don't do a good job getting M it's all right we got perennial  potatoes there's potatoes all in   the raised beds out here in the garden  s potatoes in the gardens come up what   two years in a row yeah I ain't never  pulled them either since they started   to come up on their own I just left  them alone and they always come back at now that I'm watering it I see potatoes everywhere  washing the dirt off of them most of them are Cho chopped you going to take me out  with it I'm just going have to get   out the way that's my playing I'm trying to take a b wonder if a cucumber would run up  a sunflower we can plant a couple out here well we turned off a bunch of  tatoes and still left a bunch in the ground we're starting to think that we could  just about grow everything we need right here   right here at the house instead of doing you  know know of course we can't plant our field   corn up here at the house and stuff like that but  you know as far as vegetables and everything go   like we're starting to think that just right  here in our yard and you know of course the   Little Creek Garden down there that we can just  about grow everything we need here the more we   learn I think and experiment with different  things and figure out just how much food we   can grow in a small but the thing of it is is I  really enjoy planting those bigger patches like   this you know it gives you the opportunity to go  up there and work a tractor and I don't know I   I just really enjoy planting excess of some of  this stuff well we like giving stuff away too   so well and then we taking we sell a lot of those  potatoes too well yeah the potatoes yeah and that   sort of helps offset some of the cost we have and  everything else I mean you know obviously we we   don't make a ton off of it cuz we don't sell them  for very expensive but we do have some neighbors   here though that kind of count on this stuff they  do they look forward to us having potatoes every   year so we kind of stick with that part of it but  you know if we were just growing food for us and   nobody else I really think we could do it like  right here and raise beds and then maybe plant   some stuff down there across the creek we'd have  everything we needed I can't wait to show yall   this when everything starts growing I know at  least keep our fingers crossed this one do we   do what it it does what we think it's going to do  looks so cool people are going to ride by and be   like what in the world they got in their yard yeah  what are they doing now crazy people probably so   give you a quick peek while I'm walking over here  to the Garden yeah the sweet potatoes are finally   perking up we've been watering them on and off it  took them a little bit but this dirt's about like   powder right there so look at this yeah it did  take them a lot longer than normal to perk up   honestly y'all I was starting to get just a little  bit worried about them I was like them things are   going to die and once as we planted down across  the creek where that soil still moist they they   perked right up perked right up like they were  supposed to but these they took their sweet time   doing it but now they theyve all perked up and we  ain't lost none of them well and this is honestly   this is sweet potato weather it is if they have  had moisture yeah it would have been but these hot   days they love this hot weather that are coming  that is sweet potato growing weather right there   sweet potatoes and cow peas thrive in this good  yep look at this man these beans have grown golly   this road here is like Tober beans and this is  green beans these are Jade bush beans here and   y'all since we made the last video we've done lost  another zucchini plant and another squash plant   right here but I think we finally got it under  control I don't want to say that just yet because   I'll come out here tomorrow morning and want to  be dead but I think we've got this under control   we've been using some spray and on a regular basis  and I like I said I think we finally got it w but   we'll see I don't know turns out it was a squash  Vine board though that's what our problem was it   wasn't the squash bugs that was doing the killing  it was the vine boore never had nothing get after   the little squash plants this usually they only  get them when they're big but yeah that one's   wilted boy the bees is the working in here  y'all to hear it it's buzzing I do hear it I don't think I got any but I just it's getting  to the point that I need to start keeping my eye   on them Gardens they seem to thrive when it  gets this hot weather here that's what this   old fell I used to mow his yard well I still  mow his yard but he's passed away now and uh   he used to always tell me he's like boy what  you doing mean know we'd be planting our garden   in April yeah he said boy what are you doing  planting that Garden right now he said that   Garden ain't going to grow till it gets hot  and he'd always not plant his uh Tomatoes or   anything he wasn't plant nothing till it was  like the first of June was no it was Memorial   day no was it Memorial Day or Mother's Day it  was anyway sometime in May and he'd plant that   Garden some you know and and his would always  catch ours and he'd have just the prettiest   stuff you ever seen but we just can't stand  to wait that long it's like you know once you   start getting those warm days you ready to go out  ready to go but uh well anyways guys I hope y'all   really enjoyed today's video hope you might have  learned a little something and I hope y'all have   a great weekend and till we see y'all on the  next one y'all have a good one have a good one [Music]
