alive hello happy peoples hope you guys are doing fantastic it's been a hot minute since I've opened up the Vlog my babe's always like I'm gonna go over the Vlog because I'm just like trying to get all the things done anyway I hope you guys are doing fantastic before we even get started for today um our hearts prayers all the things go out to those affected in Maui holy moly like the devastation and what is so crazy to me on is how fast it transpired I I just I don't even understand that like why was there not any notice how was and I guess hurricane winds we don't deal with that here so that's very um odd to me um so yeah thoughts prayers all the things go out to you guys that are affected there um I'll put a link in my description on if you um want to donate to any of the organizations that are trying to get some resources to these guys because there's so many families that are displaced Bethany Bethany Hamilton um some of you guys might know her where she had the shark accident where she lost her arm as a child um she is actually doing something with some a diaper company getting like diapers and resources to people which is pretty awesome um so yeah I'll just put all the links down below and see if you guys want to be able to help out as so we are actually we have forest fires that are around us surrounding us actually a few days a few days ago we went to the fair you saw and it was very smoky like our air quality got up to almost 400. you just don't go out thankfully we've gotten rain and all the things um and the wind has shifted but it's amazing so it shows the vastness of what is Alaska we have had so much acreage burn and we have so much acreage all right that is burned in the past um and how it can just affect different states so differently and they're surrounded they can't they can't just drive off their Island they have to sail off their island or fly off their Island um is that we don't have very many roads that get us out of Alaska so there's only so many ways you can go to leave Alaska um and then of course we have Canada that's right there so if you don't have a passport you're not going going anywhere so just crazy it's just crazy how something like that could just all of a sudden happen and yeah so praying for you guys we've definitely noticed changes in our weather here we are definitely getting cooler and darker at night very very sad um I'm actually starting to harvest more on my garden I put together a fun little box for one of our neighbors I'm gonna go deliver it to to them just a fun like little Harvest baskety type thing of just some of the stuff that's actually ready for my garden um because it's just coming like a little bit so green beans and carrots and broccoli and snap peas and some spinach I'm gonna make up some more batches of Fireweed jelly to send off with it I'm super grateful that my family went out and harvested some like it's all going away let me actually show you I know I know some of you guys well you probably saw it in the opening Clips where you could actually see um how the Fireweed is going away and generally it's a Telltale sign that the W word and the s word is uh not that far away side note I don't know if you guys ever noticed our woods and like how bent our trees were my brother-in-law has been over here working like a crazy fiend getting all of our like super bent like can you see can you see over here see how these are all like bent and how these are like ah they're so beautiful he's helping us out with that trying to get all that done before winter so we're super grateful thank you Rylan you're awesome okay so here's our Fireweed um yeah she is um she's almost done and then we have actually one that's literally gone to seed don't love that so about six weeks that's what it says after the first little bloomy goes away you've got six weeks until the oh w s word Arden's still doing good though I'm stinking mad at myself um I had some broccoli like little sprouts and stuff and they're starting to go to seed I didn't get them quick enough don't mind the weeds the weeds are loud and proud these days in the old Garden but I'm excited to get the Harvest going start preserving doing all those things if you guys did a garden this year how did it go how did it turn out it's probably still going in some of the areas where you guys are like winter is not coming we still got lots of Summer left but for us oh my gosh hold on I have to show you my cabbage go in and show you my hand next to it this is my hand I guess you can't really tell how big I am either uh I'm five one five one okay five one and a half so my hands are not super large hey here she is holy moly can you see it that's how big it is and even this one is a good size too look at that holy guacamole they're so big in my cauliflower I don't know why they're uh green but I must have bought a variety that's green oh there's my cauliflower oh I should actually get some of that to put in the box I'm excited to get in here Harvest some things up here's some cauli a little bit of that in a little box love fresh produce so good okay anyway my babe is out and about well he's getting ready to take off and he is going to go my gracious it's like a jungle he is gonna go rent our one of our rentals because we just had one of those open up and um he's gonna go get all the paperwork signed and all the things and go rent out one of our little units crazy busy I've got school stuff that all just started coming in so I've got all that coming down the pike what are you guys doing for the school year we know all the things we've got a lot on the docket we've got a lot Audrey's schedule is very full oh and Audrey has some exciting news I don't know if she'll tell you in this Vlog but she will tell you shortly I am sure very excited very proud of her can't believe it all right let's send you off to Bert and go rent one of the renters uh you can start moving in about 10 minutes if you want there you go yeah we're probably gonna I don't know yeah she's gonna start moving some things in and then um yeah so we kept the place unlocked till now but I mean now at this point you guys can lock it you can do whatever you want this is your house pretty cool pretty exciting congratulations so I'm glad you got a place to live and you guys get married that's outstanding thanks so much all right we've got some new tenants so that is good to go which is awesome oh man it is tough and the rental market here guys right now I don't know leave a comment down below let us know where like what is your housing market looking like um we we if you don't know if you're new to the channel so my wife and I we have four small houses they're about 800 square feet plus a one-car garage we include heat and we rent them at pretty much at an apartment rate I mean about 300 a month less than what we could get for them but uh we kind of just wanted to be a blessing and try to offer some affordable housing this is like our phase one of affordable housing that we did years ago we're still working on phase two that's coming on the Pike that's happening but right now it was tough because I had I think 12 applicants like we put this out on Facebook in a matter of just hours I told my wife to shut it down shut it down because just so many calls were coming in Booking appointments and you know I only had one spot opened up I am having another one opening up hopefully here in about a month or two so I'm gonna try to uh kind of shift some of the people that have filled out an application for this place but oh my goodness if you guys are coming here just want to give you guys a heads up make sure you do your due diligence to try to find some housing and get it locked down because it is at least for affordable housing you can find expensive housing all day long affordable housing is definitely tough so it's good to be able to you know help people out when you have a place that's going to fit their needs but I just need to have more places to fit more people needs I think another reason why we were had so many applications is just this time of year I don't know if you saw the Fireweed we collected earlier but uh leaves are already starting to turn it is coming and people need to try to secure a place for winter time 100 sure what else we got going on today I know my wife's trying to get that fiery jelly uh locked down and try to get that done so she can get it all canned and then I might see my mom we might go to her house we might not not sure we'll just roll on with the day and we'll bring you guys with us thank you I never fail tomorrow closing in this fast I guess time's in a rush leaves are falling down but at least they grow back making some fire wheat jelly just dumped all the blossoms in between 8 to 10 cups I got this recipe I'll link it down in the description it's from Cosmopolitan cornbread great recipe for fiber jelly so what's so interesting about this is that it starts looking not so great look at that not so great a nice purpley color oh it looks really cooking so you're basically creating a fire wheat tea you boil this for five minutes cheesecloth sterilized all my lids and jars I'm gonna take the four little things of pectin create the jelly for you grateful I get to do this this year I really didn't think I was going to I really wanted to get out and pick blueberries but some on my little hike up to Angel rocks if you guys follow me on Instagram you saw over there how me and Evelyn went to Angel rocks and there were some yummy massive blueberries there I love being able to take resources that we have right around us and being able to make something out good how cool is that fourth cup of lemon juice come down it's so pretty okay we are boiling she's done you do want to move quickly to kind of get these in the canning jars because that sugar is going to start to like solidify again I get all glumpy so I just started my water bath yeah I know it is just enough to get back [Music] so uh are you uh Are you seriously weeding the slew getting a nasty Pizza yeah look what I've done um oh I guess that is quite a bit one bite at a time so most people like weed Gardens not like entire bodies of water you have a dream you just figured out I want them grandkids to be able to play in a clear area all over your face it's the baby you don't look like a baby anymore pink all right took the kids over to Mom and Dad's Mommy and Emily are like on Full Throttle Super Mom mode they're busting out like homeschool and getting all the fiery jelly going so I thought I should bring the kids over here to let their Super Mom Powers recharge for the big push so I think they're getting close to being done and Grandma Grandpa are getting ready to go to bed so let's head back over there and see how everything's going [Music] thank you all right crazy day today lots of stuff happening you killed it knocked some stuff out we got some jelly we got some school stuff done over there Garrett you want to do some reading with Daddy good stuff um and we oh we got the rental uh rented so that was oh yeah awesome that's awesome I felt so bad for all the people that could not rent it so we gotta get building it's coming it's coming uh what else oh and then winter but like this is probably the last of the Fireweed my guess is you probably won't find like we had to hunt to find those Fireweed pets earlier today that it was all like going to seed it means like bad things that it's going away this early it's right on time it's about time we're so excited we're so excited to have the fluffy stuff on the ground in six weeks we actually did have a good summer we had an awesome warm summer the smoke stayed for very little of the time yep got to do some traveling probably one of the better Summers we've had for at least for temperatures so hot yeah it was so hot it was crazy so can't complain I can't complain but actually it's funny because Evelyn's like I can't it's been so hot for so long and hot in our mind right everyone's like when's winter gonna be Are you seriously want winter and she's like yes I said you would trade winter for this right now she goes 100 I can't wait for winter Alaskan kids Alaskan kids speaking of lesson kids here you want to send us out
