WE CROSSED THE ARCTIC CIRCLE (24 Hours in Lapland, Finland)!

today we'll be exploring the extreme North oral planet in Finnish Lapland and before we get to our place for tonight there's one thing we need to do the first one is to seriously bundle up because the temperatures are in the negatives and we're gonna be outside for a while this is because we're going dog sledding and my friend Cami is driving five really cute cute dogs could pull you that fast they are so powerful we're like gliding through the woods right now wow this is so fun how do you feel coming I love it it's so nice when they left at first I was like but now it's really really cool wow yeah I love being a passenger I have nothing to do and all the sensations right now we're passing by a frozen lake and it's just so beautiful snow everywhere we're still going pretty fast but I think by now Cami has figured out how to drive this thing to Perfection I have I have and I think we are on the frozen lake right now it's like pretty crazy because the ice must be thick enough for our weight and the weight of the dog and here you can really feel how cold and dry the atmosphere is you have all the cool radiating up from the frozen lake we just stopped because it's my turn to drive and the dogs are jumping around and so ready to go it's really really intense when you're driving I feel more confident now the dogs are starting to respect me now which they didn't at all in the beginning oh this is so cool which one did you prefer I personally prefer driving I feel so good driving but it's also fun to visit in the sleigh and do nothing look how beautiful it is I think we're going there because I can see two tents this was such a fun experience and the dogs go so fast but my favorite thing was how sweet they were once we were done these dogs are so cute thank you oh oh you like your belly rub guys are the best you want your belly rub too and at the end we even got to meet babies so it was super cute so after this we just have a little walk through the woods to go back to our house and this really makes me appreciate the beauty of the winter landscape like you have really cute little details like the snow on the pine trees this super cute lamp or this tree covered in snow this is really the perfect walk before going inside and right now we're arriving to our connotation which is in the middle of the forest and I'm really excited about it because it's the most unique tiny house Village I've been to since we are literally located at the top of the world in the Arctic Circle so here I am on the first tiny house Village of the property this one is made of one story tiny houses that are covered in snow and have some kind of slanted ceiling that's made of glass and the outside is made of beautiful gray wood so they really blend in with a snowy atmosphere so now we're arriving on our side of the tiny house Village and our tiny homes are way bigger since they are on two floors we'll be staying in one of these ours is right here and it's number 610 and our luggage has just arrived in this sleigh that you see over here so let's get inside and warm up because it's really getting dark and cold outside so we've taken a few hours to relax and drink hot chocolate at home and now as you can probably see it's fully dark out and it's just around 5 PM so right before dinner time and I think it's the perfect time to bring you on a tour of this really Cozy home and show you where we are staying so right when you arrive you have the entry Prince area that doubles up as some kind of little mud room so there you obviously have a bench where you can take your shoes off and some kind of storage area that I've claimed as mine I put all my stuff here if you keep going forward you have some storage space and some stairs going up to the second floor I'll show you that in a bit then you arrive in the living room that's such a cozy place here everything is made for comfort and most of all warming up after a long day outside in the cold so you obviously have a very cute fireplace decorated with fake reindeer skins but you also have two very comfy couches that also have this reindeer looking plates and pillows on top of them and are seriously really really comfy like this feels like the perfect place to just relax and do nothing after everything we did today like seriously one thing to know about the cold and the temperature in the Arctic is that if you're not used to it your energy tends to deplete way faster than usual so it's like always good to take breaks and like stay warm and stay inside plus here we're in the middle of winter which means the sun only comes up a few hours today and the rest of the time we have like this very unique Darkness that's like almost blue it's one of my favorite things here it's a very unique type of Darkness that I've never seen before you'll see that in a bit when we go outside and between the two couches you have a coffee table with obviously a fake reindeer looking skin behind the couches there's two fancy designer lamps that have been installed on the black wooden wall as you can see everything is a bit slanted here because the house has a pyramid shape and this is a pretty good way to conserve heat in the house because all the heat goes up into the bedroom behind me you also have three massive windows then on this side of the room you have a big dining table with four chairs and this is where we were hanging out this afternoon and drinking hot chocolate and behind me you have the kitchen space in a very Sleek looking all black color so here everything is black you have a black sink black fridge right over there black storage space and black appliances and although we're not gonna be using that too much because we have booked a delicious dinner it's pretty practical if you don't want to go out too much because we're pretty isolated here let me take you to to one of my favorite areas of the house which is the bathroom the bathroom is super nice with again an all black countertop topped with some kind of stone sink and there's also a shower and a toilet but the real reason why I love the bathroom so much is because of the heated floors like right now the floor is hot and it feels so good and I feel having such a Cozy home and nice bathroom is so important when you're staying above the Arctic Circle like seriously taking a warm shower was the only thing I felt like doing after today and if you take this very unique staircase to go to the second floor you arrive to the bedroom and here we're located at the top of the pyramid so the bedroom is a tiny bit smaller than the living room but it still has a very comfy bed complete again with the same reindeer looking blankets and the bed is actually pretty big at 1.75 lusso rolls but what's really cool here is what you actually can see from the bed so you see all of the ceiling is actually made of glass so having a glass ceiling means we'll be hunting for Northern Lights from our bed tonight but right now it's time to get dinner at this massive Buffet a full of delicious finished food and the restaurant feels super cozy with a re-warm fireplace beautiful wooden walls and some wood lighting and in front of me I have a big plate of salad with a side of rye bread and fish cream cheese and this is served with a very interesting reindeer pate and I've never tried reindeer before so I'm excited to try it it's pretty good so if I didn't know it was reindeer I will never have noticed it and it tastes a bit like spam it's really thick and meaty and along with that I have some fish cream cheese and bread oh this is weird because it doesn't taste like fish it tastes a bit like truffles whatever this is this cream cheese is really good so I'm gonna give it an 8 out of 10. and for my second dish I have a beautiful piece of salmon with a creamy mustard sauce all of this is served with charred veggies and potatoes salmon is always a good option this is a nine out of 10. and while Kami is eating a delicious potato leek soup I've decided to come back to the buffet to get myself a beautiful cheese platter always a good way to end your meal so now we're outside and we're gonna check out on the Northern Lights they appear naturally in the sky if you're high up north enough I've never seen northern lights before and I've heard this is one of the best places in the world to see them so right now it's a pretty low forecast but it should be good later in the night so I really hope we can see some from our best so now it's night time and it's right before bed I have this app that's supposed to wake me up if there's any northern lights in the sky so fingers crossed for tonight and good morning from the next day it's already 8 30 a.m and it's still dark out we slept under this glass Dome since it's always night out we don't have blinds on our windows we didn't see any northern lights tonight even though we were hoping to be working a basis we kept it next to our bed all night but nothing but seriously stepping outside and looking at this beautiful sunrise it doesn't even matter anymore and look at this I feel so lucky to be here and especially since we have a full day of exploring ahead of us so let's start with this beautiful breakfast buffet and get some food I went with smoked Herring with peppers some mushrooms and a right bread with fish batter but my favorite read has to be the homemade porridge with this beautiful blueberries and red berries the perfect way to start the day especially when it's so cold out and on my side I have pancakes scrambled eggs bacon a small sausage smoked Herring so let's try that it's weird it's kind of sweet I think I should have kept it for Less smoked Herring only after coffee okay so now we're fed and happy and it's time to explore the area we're in and first of all the sun has risen and the light is just so beautiful check out this light with the trees and this tiny Hut behind me it's just so perfect so right now we're taking a walk on this beautiful frozen lake and it is pretty crazy because the ice is so thick I don't know about you but I've never worked on a frozen lake before so that's such a weird sensation you don't know where the lens starts and where the water starts check it out there's like two steps going into the water but they're frozen because obviously it's winter and it really feels like we're on a different planet as I'm working on the ice I can just see the legs stretching for miles and miles on end so we're really in the middle of nature like the closest city is 30 minutes away from here so it feels like such a unique and special place it's my first time so up North I've never experienced such cold temperatures so this is really mind-blowing to me and where we are right now there's actually supposedly a lot of wild animals and you can actually usually see them from the footsteps they live in the snow there's also beautiful Arctic horses and reindeer who live in the wild during summer but with humans in Winter and what's so special to me is actually the nature that's around us it's really a winter wonderland like check out this tree with snow on it it's so beautiful also the fact that there's snow everywhere makes everything so quiet and so silent and makes for such a beautiful light and yeah working on this like I'm actually curious about what's underneath I've heard that during the winter you can actually drill a hole in the ice and fish from there so that's what we're gonna do this afternoon and we're actually going there on a reindeer sleigh check it out and we have this really cute white reindeer that's carrying us to the lake check out how cute his little tail is and this is super relaxing we're basically riding through the snowy forest with nothing else to do but enjoy the views and what is super cute is that we are actually forming some kind of line with the other reindeers and following them to the lake so right now this little guy is gonna rest while we walk down so now we're letting the Rangers graze in the forest and we're gonna go ice fishing in the lake and here it is it's massive and fully iced and you can't really see the difference between the lake and the ground and right now Kami is getting started with drilling a hole in the ice for us to fish it so how is it going apparently not good is it working yeah actually I'm feeling something I think keep going yeah is it kind of a workout or something it is well this is like hard oh oh my God I did it are you kidding me whoa okay so this is the hall it's so easy thank you so much for me you're welcome so once you've drilled the hole you just drop a hook with some bait and wait for the fish to bite now we're basically waiting to see if we catch something and there's kind of like a beginning of a snowstorm around us so it's a bit of an eerie atmosphere here so now it's the middle of the night it's like maybe like 4 P.M or something but it feels like it's like 3 A.M and like we've just walk to a place that's a bit further to try to drill another hole and then we'll see if we catch any fish still nothing and it's getting really dark and cold out so no fish for us tonight after this we try to drill a hole in another place of the lake and try to catch some more fish but it didn't work so we finished the experience by going by the fire and Grilling some sausages that's the one thing we caught now it's the middle of the night AKA 5pm so we're gonna come back home with our reindeers and this will be the end of our 24 hours in the Arctic Circle bye for now
