[Music] [Music] he that no water on a device can kill me because my apartment is full of the arch enemy of the dehumidifier duh humidifier and that's all these devices valiantly turn the water in my apartment into water in the air yeah yeah but I run your little pansy and take your Lean Six Sigma master black belt with you I am the pseudoscience layer delt my power remember when I busted the Hutter superfast a vacuum dryer that wasn't a vacuum dryer or or superfast but it still was hot to people for over half a million dollars kids because reasons hey I got a question for you if you're on Twitter and you follow me I've got a prison for you you are now blocked by Morris Thea superfast vacuum Trier that's right Morris have blocked every single person that follows me an impressive lengths to go to with someone with the Twitter account for the only 21 followers and with only one tweet and they've now actually started selling the bottom Kickstarter - oh how the hat's going hmm zero updates and only one comment I wonder what that comment is 14 days ago Lilly and Wong how could I cancel the order yeah I think you might be seeing a little more of that and who is that running man you might think bull hat was probably the most brazen scam I've ever seen on the pages of IndieGoGo they claimed they'd invented this water from air device that was literally gonna revolutionize how mankind got its water the metal sides of the underground chamber are cool by the surrounding soil wind spins a helical turbine because the sides of the underground chamber are always cooler than the air water seer is always collecting water day and night yes they're literally invented the dehumidifier you know it's just one of those incredible things that every six months or so some Yahoo claims they've invented this incredible fruity water from air device and the press is all over it they just can't get enough and even after it's been pointed out them there they're frantic and raving about someone inventing dehumidifier something that's being around for over a hundred years yeah it's really stupid because getting water from the air is a using a dehumidifier is it best about a hundred times more expensive than other ways of getting clean drinkable water this isn't a revolution but anyway these guys got a third of a million dollars to Cantera dehumidifier working and let's take a look at the expert way in which they decided to build a prototype for their device well I would say let's be super generous digging a hole and save $200 and $1,000 for materials and a 3d printer to print a tube because you know buying tubes is super expensive it totally makes sense to have a 3d printer for that but whatever let's say four thousand dollars all in of total fail which then means they've only got about three hundred and thirty thousand dollars left from their IndieGoGo campaign to work out how to make these things for a hundred and thirty four dollars then after a few years I have complete failure they end up selling I kid you not our Walmart or Amazon dehumidifier in a tube not for a hundred and thirty four dollars mind but for $1,300 now usually I actually do quite a lot of research in making these videos but fundamentally I'm just one guy so sometimes especially when it comes to investigating stuff I miss some juicy details however quite some of the awesome viewers of my video look into it themselves and dig up some extras Oh welcome to the extras so it turns out these dehumidifiers you know the ones which are found in stock on Amazon and Walmart you know the of a favorite store of the save the earth friendly green hippies [Music] spiritual centers trading the water seer technology but turns out they're also available that record from trainer from Alibaba for about $100 but why a si surely if this thing is just an Ali Baba dehumidifier in a plastic tube you know the cheapest bargain basement dehumidifier from China surely at some point someone is gonna look inside their waters here and see that it's made in China not in America well turns out waters here had thought this one through with that absolutely foolproof plan you see so one sent me a copy of one of their manuals that they'd found online your water Sears approximately 36 inches high and 15 inches in diameter and weighs 37 pounds the unit is complete and ready to operate no modification is required do not attempt to open your water seer there is no customer maintenance requirement on the interior and nothing that could be fixed or adjusted by the user forcing the chassis will void your warranty something tells me that they really don't want you to look inside of this er this this great new free water from air device an old boy and this manual also has some projected numbers of how 10 Walter Sears John cast some 13,000 dollars even if you go for the bargain of buying them five at a time well average humidity in say San Diego yeah I'm California where the planning to sell these things is about 60% and the average temperature about 65 Baron height so $13,000 array will pull in something like 600 gallons per month or 20 gallons per day or two gallons per Aliexpress 20 gallons per day is about quarter of what the average person uses so in reality a $13,000 array wouldn't be worth that much to you you would need a $50,000 array for just one person consisting of 40 of these units taking up a lot of space now anyway say Lindsey in California you currently pay about $70 per month for a family of four so that's about $15 per person so what would that be over a lifetime $200 per year 70 years in a lifetime your lifetime water bill is gonna be about thirteen thousand dollars just to purchase the unit using their own numbers to supply the water for just one person would already cost about four times as much as the cost of all the water that you will ever use in your whole lifetime and that's not including the power it takes to run it because these things that can take attendance upon the power it's three hundred and eighty on watt per unit so point four kilowatt hours per hour to run and need 40 of them for one person so that's 15 kilowatt hours per hour 400 kilowatt hours per day a hundred and thirty-four megawatt hours per year or nineteen point four terawatt-hours per lifetime at a cost of about a million dollars so how does that compare to your total energy consumption for the rest of your life well a typical person uses about half a terawatt hour in their lifetime at a cost of sixteen thousand dollars that sort of thing oh yes so this free water from air device would increase the energy footprint of your energy wasteful Westerner by about a factor of ten you know it might just taking your energy bill and adding a zero on it and then you should be stressed that that numbers not going to change even if you use solar power because solar power retails for about the same price as other forms of power but of course that's just scratching the surface because in their manual what is here is not sold for generating water for human consumption that's odd that's an odd thing to say because in the very next line they're saying how they've actually tried it and it passes all of the government tests I'm getting kind of mixed messages here I think what they're actually saying is they unpacked their brand-new sparkling dehumidifier from China and the wards from it was fine how could anyone have a problem with this but I want to say that yeah but after a month or so after you pulled hundreds of thousands of cubic meters of duty Californian air through this dehumidifier it's followed dead bugs in there bacteria living in it and all that sort of thing then basically you're paying about a hundred times what you would normally pay for water except this water isn't drinkable water SIA should be considered like water from your private well you are responsible for the water safety of your own water yeah that's that's just what everyone wants is the low stress of actually having to run their own water treatment plant I mean the people who came out with waters here are world-class [ __ ] merchants VG labs t3 Tiger Tech and the people who work in them have a public record in any case we stand behind our work and our goals to make the world better by daring greatly and doing things differently that's why water sees our not-for-profit initiative and all the funds go to refining the design expanding field testing manufacturing and development to support the water community early adopters and all of our contributors the ultimate proof of water SIA will be in its performance in daily life you know they just exude this sort of everything about waters here is wonderful but then you can actually should have seen this the reality of the device that they don't want to get sued so just just read it what's generated by water cinema is clean and free from pollutants and particulates I must mean it's safe to drink right water from your water's here should be considered like water from your private well you are responsible for the water safety of your own water water SIA is not solved for generating water for human consumption Oh what during field tests there are water from water seer cinema exceeded all APA wh o water purity standards in fact it was much cleaner than municipal tap water well I must mean that it's clean drink right I mean why don't you need more filtering if it's pure the municipal tap water so that they can go on if you plan to use your water from your waters here for human consumption use appropriate of filtering technology and frequent testing because that's what everyone wants to do to assure it is safe to drink yeah this has got to be one of the most iconic fails ever of a free water from air device and that's why I keep hitting this stuff because you know that in a week or a month or something there's just gonna be another dingus coming up and saying that make up this great idea for getting free water from the air and the scientifically literate press will just lap it up and it's my fond dream that someday someday you videos like this will have a sufficiently big footprint that when they write these articles someone will link these videos in the comments and maybe just just maybe a little bit of shame or fact-checking my creep into their journalism yeah and at that point let me just say a big thank you to all of those who support this channel through patreon that many sharp aid individuals may have spotted earlier that I was actually mashing a hole button there well spoiler that wasn't actually me that was from the super awesome roller coaster the film aliens which was back in the days when aliens hansip spun off a dozen pale shadows of Awesome films like alien and aliens but even though this was only on the screen for a few seconds when I first saw that something was jarring me there something old something familiar something about that button and it struck me that must be one of the most awesome repurposing of a whole button from a fruit machine in history who ever saw the whole button on a fruit machine and thought that's just what we need at the end of our sci-fi movie to close the spaceship hole was clearly a brilliant man indeed my extensive research shows it is probably from a GPM super fruit machine where they substituted the orange casting with a hold lettering that is awesome they did get me thinking folks like awesome movies but even awesome movies with awesome repurposed fruit machine buttons can have some pretty weird interpretations for science and yeah like sorry yeah whole outsize with that hold that sighs the whole thing would have depressurized in less than a second or you know you know infrared does not allow you to see through walls whether you're Batman or Robocop [Music] thermal imaging is showing me 2,000 hostiles on the third floor why don't I drop you off on the second and I was thinking maybe there's some grounds here for a series along the lines of bad sites in awesome movies or even bad sites in dumb movies hell if people can pick the bones of movies for the slightest plot hole or inconsistencies to the delight of audiences sometimes some super black alsace level plot holes [Music] that's how we're gonna win not fighting what we hate saving what we love yeah not a good movie but just for the record calling it now Renan Rea brother and sister you know just like Luke and Leia too obvious to pass up something like that anyway why not use some of this to explain some real science how sure this would have to be you know maybe with some comedic character like angry science man use of space he came here to steal a necklace from a wizard only be calm science man because space Wizards are not I'm gonna get us that there is still momentum in your universe but so what you reckon would you be interested in something like that but I've really got to take care of this next because this is from the BBC so this is really really credible the well scientifically researched stuff that Russia nuclear submarine Norway find bigger radiation leak and it's 800,000 times higher than normal that sounds terrible how can this possibly be the case sure so if you want to see well that's complete and utter garbage make sure you hit the notification bell to make sure new videos pop up in your subscription feed and as always check out my Amazon store below for loads of scientific goodies like say for instance or are you saving humidifiers and thanks for watching
