how's it going everyone and today's video I'm gonna be going through all of my gear and teach you how and what to look for when you're shopping for new motorcycle gear so let's get into it [Music] all right so first thing helmet the three main types of helmets that I have and I use so I have this one the 60 helmet so first I recommend a full face helmet and I recommend to look on the certifications on the back recommend to have Dot and ECE like certain helmets have Snell certification as well and a bunch of other ones that are like approved for World Super Bike and Moto GP either way get something with some good protection but Dot and ECE dot Snell if that's your thing sure but definitely full face helmet is why I recommend to ride pretty much most of the time is what most of my helmets are right if you want to get the tint advisor some buyers even have transitional lenses now so it could be clear at night and automatically go darker as the sun comes out I definitely recommend full face helmets people that ride around in half helmet or quarter helmets they did studies where 33 of all crashes at least once the chin bar is going to hit the ground and you don't want your face to hit the ground this could be a bad day I also have this helmet this one's the showy this is the modular helmet and I use this one a bunch because I could talk to other people like if I'm connected with the Cardinals but mainly if I'm out doing like low speed stuff I could just lift up the modular helmet and talk to people without having the full face helmet on and screaming at them like trying to pull it down so they could hear me so it's just very convenient lift it up drink water talk to people without taking my helmet completely off and without compromising riding around with just a quarter or half helmet and if I'm in the dirt or Supermoto or whatever else then I have my dirt bike helmet with the goggles a lot more airflow and yeah so these are three main types of helmet I have but even this one is Dot and EC um ECE certified so definitely recommend the full face or if you have multiple helmets you want something a little bit more practical maybe if you're talking with a bunch of buddies or going in and out of stores or whatever else probably maybe a modular if you don't want to take it off you always just take off the helmet of course but those are the three main styles of helmets so full face dot ECE is probably minimum is what I would recommend by the way everyone before I go any further I have direct links to every single piece of product that I have all on my website just look in the description below this video it says gear all my riding gear and you click on there go to my website links to everything so just FYI all right buddy so as for boots as you can see all my boots are just like this they're super high and they're sturdy sturdy over the ankle is what you really want so the absolute minimum boot I would ever recommend anybody or a motorcycle boot is first number one motorcycle specific Brands sure you could go to Walmart or whatever and get some hiking boots that are over the ankle kinda and they're kind of sturdy but it's just not going to be good enough protection if you actually get in a wreck it's not just the protection of your foot but if you touch a hot a hot part on the bike like the exhaust or whatnot you want to come up pretty high and motorcycle specific meaning very unlikely to have a bunch of laces like most boots have velcro and zippers and clasps and buckles so you don't want laces dangling around getting caught in your chain or belt or just dangling around in general step on it trip all over so motorcycle specific boots that are nice and Tall to have as much protection as possible so these were the boots that I had for a while and as you can see on the bottom that has created holes on the bottom sole because that's where I put the foot Peg at like going around through track days and whatnot and these are okay these are like minimum right so it's like one two three or one maybe two three either way but number one so if you try to fold the boot in half it should have some rigidity to it you shouldn't just be able to fold it in half with no effort whatsoever so that's what I mean by sturdy okay and this one just has the zipper that goes halfway up in the velcro these boots these are my these are sturdy like up here it's soft to kind of wig around but all down here I came and bend it super super sturdy completely waterproof that goes all the way up and they have three buckles they could adjust the tightness of and then once they're broken in I can walk around in these all day long they're really comfortable they're really high up they're really protective and they're waterproof and these ones are for my full tracksuit whenever I'm riding around in my full suit these are probably the most protective so it's got the inner boot where you pull the drawstring tight first and then velcro to here then you have the outside zipper and then you have the Buckle that goes up there and buckles It Down super tight so once this thing is on extremely sturdy we still have up and down Flex to shift gears which is super high quality boots so this is in my absolute Leathers these are my street boots I wear 99 of the time and then maybe if I'm just doing you know a short ride down the block or whatnot I still wear these so these are the only things that go on my feet when I'm riding around on a motorcycle and that's what I recommend High strong sturdy over the ankle boots next up for motorcycle gloves so if I'm only in the dirt like a hundred percent dirt no cement whatsoever that actually have dirt bike gloves I just have the fox you know dirt bike gloves super lightweight and easy to control the controls lever shifter everything else and these are all my street gear gloves so these are icons are perforated they have hard Knuckles and they're Leather So if I go slipping aside across the ground they're very abrasion resistance which is a good thing to have for gloves the first thing anybody does when they fall over they put their hands out so you want to be protected and these are considered shorty gloves so they only go up to about your wrist or so like say your jacket goes down here the glove goes right there right and these are my go-to gloves I wear 95 percent of the time you've probably seen these in a bunch of videos I have direct links to these in the description below as well these are Elite Parks design gloves so they're made out of 100 deer skin I believe versus elk 100 deer skin it has the armor and the fingers and everything as well and the longer version of these These are called sumos and the Sumo R are the gauntlet versions the longer versions let's go over top of your jacket I crashed in these Sumo R's the longer versions of them at the track no injuries to my hand and it did not burn through and I was actually like sliding like a slip inside across the ground so super high quality that if it's colder or if it's raining these Alpine Stars I think called Belize dry star whatever type gloves again the links Are all uh down below dry star Belize V2 dry star gloves so they're warmer they're waterproof and but they still have their protection they have the knuckles they're leather they even have something on their Palm right there like a splatter and they're slightly a little bit longer and all of them have the wrist protection to get it tightened up as well so the velcro goes over here even these ones have the little bucko but then whenever I'm riding around in my full-blown tracksuit either on the street or actually at a track or a horse or whatnot and these are my track gloves these are the GP Plus our V2 gloves but Alpinestar so you got the their Gauntlet they go over top of my race suit got the knuckles the protection fingers are sewn together so you can't your hands just can't rip apart like that it's got the slider for your palm wrist protection and then finally a protection above the wrist way over here to go over top of it to cinch everything down so the main things to look for for gloves abrasion resistant I would highly recommend some kind of armor like this has the d3o like strong rubber type armor somewhere on there maybe a palm slider and just good quality material I do not recommend like mechanics gloves or garden gloves or just some random leather gloves sure they're leather but some kind of protective as well in the summer months I wear my shorty gloves so my gloves right here my jacket goes over top of it so the wind goes into my jacket it helps cool me down if it's colder I usually wear the gauntlet gloves so they'll go over top of my jackets when I'm riding the wind does not go inside my jacket just something to consider all right so for the meat and potatoes of your gear the Jack and the pants so again a motorcycle riding jacket um the length to everything I have the BMW motorized jacket and pants and then even though the pants have armor in the side like for the hips I have an additional body procs there's a link on there as well it has all this extra Armor All down up the hip and for the tailbone and everything else that I wear underneath my riding pants so just Extra Protection right so a couple things to look for I would say the main thing to look for whenever you're riding buying a jacket and pants even if the jacket itself doesn't have the good quality armor you could always upgrade the armor right so already need the armor so the good quality armor for example like inside here you can see the shoulders and the bright orange stuff that I use for everything is called d3o and there's level one there's a little bit thinner than level two which is a little bit thicker so if you go tumbling across the ground what's going to hit the ground your hands your helmet right your whole body is going to hit the ground but where elbow shoulders back hips tailbone your knees your feet so make sure the jacket or whatever you're getting has capability even if it doesn't have it inside it already a lot of times jackets have stuff inside but it's just Comfort foam just a little piece of foam in there that you could use to size up the armor that would fit inside that same protector you don't have to cut it out or anything but have good quality armor in all the places you want obviously this isn't leather I don't you don't have to ride in full leather everywhere you go on the street but it needs to be armor it needs to be protected right that's what to look for in the jacket as well as just other little things you know a bunch of this has a bunch of vents you can open up in case it's warmer cooler all down the sides right here for your thing up top for your shoulders there's vents on the pants so if it's nice and hot you could open everything up and it's a lot of airflow or if it gets cooler if it gets uh if it starts to rain you can zip everything up and this is all water resistant another thing about um similar gear is Klein Klim gear it's actually waterproof so you don't have to have an additional thing to carry around with you same thing for the pants have armor in the knees so the big old huge piece of armor right here inside the knee and when the armor ends my boot goes high enough to meet that so from and then I have this underneath so pretty much my whole lower body is absolutely protective of everything it's not just one little armor for my kneecap and then I have boots way down here but my whole Shin my whole thigh is exposed so that's the thing for armor this has a bunch of pockets like I said the vents has a belt zipper adjustability this doesn't have the tailbone protective some pants or riding pants do but that's why I have this to go on Underneath It All right a couple extra things to think about like whenever I'm riding my full one-piece leather suit and sometimes I wear this and all my track gear on the street just for fun so I wear my leather suit my track gloves my track boots everything else sometimes on the street so why not so what do I wear underneath this so you get a long thin shirt to go underneath that makes a whole lot easier to get the Leathers on and off especially if you're sweating and then make a bunch of specific things like this like your local Cycle Gear whatnot but it pretty much could be any long sleeve whatever else I highly recommend long sleeve to go all the way down so you know long sleeve shirt and then this is a Under Armor pants that go all the way down and it goes down to like maybe like mid calf but then you have long socks that go on over top of that or you have these that I think I've got a cycle gear again the links are and everything on my website this goes all the way down to your ankles and you can kind of have more shorty socks that go down but definitely I recommend wearing something like this underneath your Leathers otherwise when you start sweating it's going to be super hard to get on and off and then it just gets gross and stinky and everything else so wear something like this under your full Leathers another little quick thing is for a neck gaiter so if it's cool out in the morning but it's going to be warm later on you can get a really thin neck Gator to kind of put over top and it just protects a little bit more wind maybe if you're talking and you're making videos like with your GoPro it blocks more wind to go up into the microphone so you can hear you clear this is super super lightweight or if it's like a little bit more chilly then you could get a neck Gator like this it's cloth and you can also use it as a double for like a neck protector or bring it up a little bit higher if your face is a little bit cold or if it's raining kind of protect your head or whatnot and then when it's actually cool or colder this one is the thicker one by Carhartt it's a force made by Carhartt this is actually thick and nice and warm and it keeps your whole you wouldn't believe how cold your neck gets and if you live in different parts of the country other than San Diego it gets cold everywhere and this is super beneficial and sometimes even when it's chilly here in San Diego like 50 degrees this chilly around here I wear this in the morning but then once I start riding around it starts warming up I just take it off and put it in my top case of my bike but this is super convenient and easy to have and I recommend getting a couple different types of it so like this is super warm might be too warm but this is good enough so there's a bunch of them out there to check out the last piece of gear I have for my street gear so my BMW jacket a BMW pants these this is what I wear 90 of times just down the street and if I'm wearing my full tracksuit I'm obviously in the tracksuit this has the airbag that I bought that I zipped into the tracksuit so that's really good the gloves and everything else but on my street gear there's no airbag so I just bought this recently this is the heal light Turtle 2 and the good thing about this as you can see there's no tether there's no tether to the bike so it's just a there's a GPS built into here with all the algorithms and if it detects anything crazy it's just going to automatically inflate for you and of course inside here like whenever I get done riding I just plug it in to keep it charged up and there's the CO2 canister so if it blows up and there's not anything damaged or ripped I can just take it out and replace the canister and go right back at it but whenever I go riding around I get I get fully dressed I put this on over top of my riding jacket and then let's see if you can hear this there you go turns on and you're done go riding once you get back home turn it back off plug it in and you're all good so airbag vest now if you live in a rainy season so my jacket it came with this BMW specific waterproof outer layer jacket and you can also unzip this and it has a hood to put the hood on first then you're more than um you put the hood on then your helmet so the water doesn't go down into the back it already comes with that right so it's 100 waterproof jacket that came with my jacket that I actually bought if I have that and I also have just a full-blown rain suit this is fly and again the links are all in the description I bought this at Cycle Gear so this is if it's like actual like no fitting rain that's like if it's just drizzling a little bit no no big deal but if it's raining and I'm riding I put on all my normal gear everything but then the pants will go over top of my riding pants and it's big enough and flexible enough it has a really big zipper that could open up really big so put everything on this goes over top of everything but it has the Retro reflective stripe down the middle or down the side so I can still be seen and then this is the waterproof jacket that would go over top of everything super bright has the zippers even has pockets adjustability so this is like no kidding it is raining outside and you want something that you can still fold up and put inside your top case so get some rain gear all right so last we have my football and track suit this is a full one piece tracksuit they have full leather suits also with the pants with the knee pucks on it and they're two piece that zip together and it's actually pretty practical like if this ripped or if I bought a new one I probably would buy the two-piece that zip together because it's very um so when I go to arrive around I go to stop at a gas station for lunch it'd be nice to unzip the top and take off my jacket so I'm not always walking around in a half suit you know walking around everywhere or you could kind of get out of the top of it but then it's like constantly falling down and you have like this whole thing attached to you so it would be very it'd be more practical to have a two-piece leather suit everything with the same but just have it so I used to have a Diane easy one-piece suit but um with the same exact size but I switched to this because I had airbag built into it and this is specifically made for it so if you see on the shoulder it's Tech air compatible so you buy the airbag suit that goes into it it zips inside of it and then there's adjustability down here you turn the thing on you plug it into charge it and then you look like you know Iron Man or somebody this all lights up and tells you what you need to do so this is the Alpinestar yeah Alpine Stars Tech air compatible suit the full name and the link directly to this is all on my website but um it's pretty awesome and if you go through I'm pretty sure it could go through two deployments before I have to take it out and go get it recharged so the most protection that out of anything I have really good hip armor shoulder elbow there's nothing added for armor inside of this the knee the protection goes all the way down I mean it's just I crashed a bunch of times on the street or on the track with my full tracksuit just pop right back up and like where's my bike you know what happened you know I know what's going on so super protective and I know people and sometimes myself I go right around the street in this in my full-blown track gear if I just want to practice by position knee Dragon stuff but you don't always have to do that of course I just have my normal gear but either way a couple things to look for and just whatever the size may be just understand different brands and maybe a different size for everything this is like a medium but this one's a large and this one could be a small so different brands have different shape heads oval brown small so go try that thing on same thing with leather suits like oh I know I'm a 46 USA which this is what mine says but if I switch Brands I'll maybe start with the 46 but it might be too tight it might be too big just they cut and shape the things a little bit different so just try them to stuff so a little trick I learned with my full one piece leather suit is um where am I going to carry my keys or my phone or my wallet or you know earplugs or whatever else I'm carrying around with me because there's no real Pockets or anything unless you have a top case on your bike so what I do is I wear the fanny pack right so this goes on over top of it get my phone and everything in there and then it doubles as a belt so once you take off the top layer it's not just falling out and falling down all the time it act like it's a belt so you could take off the top right so you get something like this or I've seen a bunch of people use something like this so this is like a side bag you put it around your waist and then this just attaches to your leg so you still have all the pockets for phone wallet keys money whatever else you want to carry around in your full one piece of suit so something else to think about and the brand of this is two the number two wheel ride.com two-wheelride.com and I think I just got this off Amazon just any kind of fanny pack whatever no big deal so just a little bit of an accessory thing that's very convenient very practical and it gives you place to store your stuff while you're riding around in your full one piece on suit all right so I hope that helps you narrow things down and gives you something to look for when you're shopping for new gear and of course I always recommend wear full quality gear at all times anywhere you ride anywhere doesn't matter how hot it is how cold it is I could live in Texas or Florida where it's 100 degrees humidity and 100 degrees outside I would still be wearing my 100 Street gear no matter what I would just take more breaks maybe take a break every half hour or so versus every hour and I just get in shade and whatever else but the weather doesn't determine my safety and I'm always going to be wearing this minimum no matter what so it's either the full BMW stuff with the airbag vest on top of it or the full piece leather suit those are the only two options and that's only what I wear ever if you've ever seen your ride around with shorts and a t-shirt it ain't me someone cloned me it doesn't happen it will never happen so there you go hopefully this helped you out [Music]
