Watch This Before Buying a Chevrolet Tahoe 2007-2014

the 3rd gen tahoe is truly a beautiful versatile and decently affordable vehicle if you know what to look out for it can sit up to 8 passengers and tow upwards to 7 500 pounds these are very reliable and there are many parts of them lasting well over 4000 miles but if you're looking to buy a stereogen tahoe or if you already own one here are some common issues on the gmt 900 tahoe from 2007 to 2014 that you should know about the service 4-wheel drive light illuminates without showing any major fault codes in the 4-wheel drive models could be a selector switch failure failed transfer case position sensor or simply a filming transmission which isn't all that simple try to replace the switch first then you can try to tackle the heavier job but typically the 4-wheel drive transmissions should see the lights of 200 000 miles or more the two-wheel drive transmissions do last a bit longer because it isn't enduring nearly as much torture as their flow drive models excessive oil consumption mainly in the 5.3 liter flex fuel v8 due to the afm or the active fuel management system and the pcb valve built in the valve cover the engine can eat up a lot of oil this system was built to help save on gas during low power output attacks which in return can foul the first six and seven spark plug due to the faulty system replacing it with a new valve cover and gasket should fix the issue and if you do it yourself it can be pretty cheap here is the updated valve cover part number however there might still be slight oil consumption if you want to fix the afm issue completely you will have to basically replace a lifters camshaft install a tune to deactivate the afm and a few more things to do to do this job correctly but there has been a huge success with just replacing the valve cover gasket if you have not had any lifter failures yet if you want it done correctly you'll need to deactivate the afm system chevy just cannot get this flex fuel thing right the upper dash tends to crack there's no great replacement for this and a simple dashboard should be perfect even if the car has used windshield sunshades its entire life the heat and the vibrations tend to break the brittle plastic so i'll not even attempt to place the cheap plastic with another one because it will most likely break again in high miles it's common for the ac blender actuators to go out so if you're unable to switch from hot and cold this is most likely your issue this type of issue is common in most higher modes vehicles to replace actuators pretty simple cheap and a straightforward job to do fuel pump failure and higher mileage vehicles are common and that requires you to drop the entire fuel tank not a terribly hard job to do but it is a bit tasking if you're handy with tools this should not be a hard thing to do [Music] if you're grabbing one of these from the northern climate be wary of a leaking exhaust manifold if the manifold is rusted and tracked you will be in for a pretty headaching job and similarly check the frame for a rest you don't want a rusted out vehicle a loose gas cap message is very common in these tahoes typically you will just need a new gas cap which is cheap and about 15 from the local auto power store [Music] the daytime running light typically always goes out you may have noticed this in most sturgeon tahoes one daytime running light is running while the other is out to replace this bulb you do have to gain access to the headlamps from the wheel well not a too hard of a job but it does require you to wedge tools in tight places patience is key but even with patience it is a quick job and an easy job [Music] paint on the rear plastic panels typically fades in cracks a respray of these panels can be a bit pricey by a professional but you can purchase color matching paint and 2k clear coat and attempt it yourself to save a lot of money painting is not the easiest thing to do and it is hard to get right but even if you mess it up it should look way better than it did before the 07 2011 and the 2015 models should all be avoided due to very high complaints most of which are the complaints related to the 5.3 liter afm issue the o7 model has had some electrical issues the 2011's main complaint was the dashboard cracking and the 2015 models has ac and heating issues so in conclusion the chevrolet tile is a very reliable truck mainly the ones you should avoid are the 5.3 liter flex fuel options because the oil consumption is inevitable either grab the slower yet very well capable 4.8 liter v8 model or the 6.2 liter model if you do not want to worry about the potential of the four wheel drive issues just grab the rear wheel drive version but either one should last for a long time if this video helped you out be sure to like the video subscribe and press the notification bell to keep you up to date with all my future content this is chris automotive always appreciate one another i'll see you next time
