Washington DC’s Fantastic Circulator Bus Network

hello it's Sunday April 16th of 2023 and today I'm here in the Woodley Park neighborhood of Washington DC to ride all of the lines on the DC circulator the DC circulator is a frequent bus system that runs buses to tourist attractions and Lively neighborhoods as the website says every 10 minutes all day every day not 24 hours though there are six colored lines on the system and I'm going to start by taking the green line from here down to McPherson Square Metro station I don't think the lines are actually called by their colors I think they have names based on where they go but it's just easier to call it call them by their colors thank you [Music] the circulator buses only cost a dollar whereas the other buses in the city cost two so don't know why they're cheaper but it's interesting we're also waiting for a few minutes I guess because this is the last stop so it's probably got here early [Music] thank you [Music] foreign [Music] okay so the bus kind of expressed down 14th Street which I thought was interesting uh but now onto the yellow line to Georgetown and the stop is just in front of me I had to walk like one minute to get to the stop from the other one what I really like about the circulator is that since it's so frequent you don't even need to look at a schedule to see when the bus should come which is how the buses should be everywhere even in like the suburbs [Music] foreign [Music] made it to Georgetown which I think is the most touristy neighborhood in DC and I'm going to take the light blue line to Dupont Circle there's actually not that many tourists today compared to a few weeks ago I guess it was cherry blossom season then for some reason the light blue line is not on the sign of the bus stop but I definitely know it should be maybe here at least on the map it is yeah I really like the little sidewalk extensions that they made here and the tactile surfaces at the bus stops it's really it's really smart they should do that everywhere this bus is very interesting looking I've never seen a bus that looks like this it's pretty nice actually it's also very hot I don't think the AC is working properly on this bus I can maybe tell because the top is open [Music] foreign [Music] okay made it to Dupont Circle which marks the halfway point in my journey three lines done three lines to go Dupont Circle is basically just a big roundabout with traffic lights and a park and a fountain in the middle which is nice uh now I'm going to take the metro to Union Station to continue my journey for the last three lines of the trip of look it's a bike rack get it made it to Union Station I had some lunch filled in my water bottle to get ready for the second half of the journey starting with the orange line down to Navy Yard it's extremely hot today I'm boiling oh my God by the way if you want to see the inside of Union Station just check out my Acela Journey video in the top corner [Music] thank you [Music] better job [Music] okay I'm at the Navy Yard bus stop and from here we're actually not going to go anywhere I'm just gonna wait for the dark blue bus to learn from Plaza I'm gonna write the whole thing and go to the National Mall after that there should never be a freeway running straight through a city that's like basically a crime also I guess that's the Navy Yard this building has like some anchors on it I don't know I'm not really sure I'm assuming it is this one has both colors thank you [Music] foreign [Music] ever I feel like that's not that's not great I made it to lamp up Plaza station and now I just need to quickly go to the National Mall wow that was that was really quick I saved the best route for last well maybe not the best the most scenic well actually I don't know if it's the the most touristy route for last the red line which just goes around the National Mall and all of The Monuments in DC the National Mall is home to many museums so we'll see a lot of those on the route I'm gonna take the route the long way around and then finish up at Union Station there's so many tour buses I can't even see the museums [Music] foreign [Music] [Music] thank you thank you okay so I'm back at Union Station and that marks the end of my journey I really like this journey it reminded me of how nice DC is at least aesthetically it's probably one of the best if not the best American cities I hope you guys all enjoyed watching that's all from me for today see you in the next one foreign [Music]
