it's another really windy day today which is perfect for this video because a little while ago I did a review on the new rode video micro 2 and when I went outside and I tested it outdoors and it was windy the dead cat didn't really do much to suppress the wind noise so the audio didn't sound very good and when I went back in and I listened to it I noticed that and so then I went back out the same day whilst it was still windy to see if it was something that I had done wrong like not putting the furry windshield all the way onto the capsule of the microphone and I did double check it and it I do think I did do that but when I got back the audio still sounded the same it still sounded really just the wind was getting through the windshield and so I thought I'd come back out today and Tripoli Tripoli triple check that the windshield is definitely on the capsule properly and that there's no gaps or anything like that and so I just wanted to come out and test it again today to see if I still if I had made a mistake or if it is just the fact that the video mic video micro two just wasn't doing that well in the Wind at the moment I'm using the Sennheiser MKE 400 so this is the audio that you're hearing at the moment so I'm going to switch it over to the rode video micro 2 and I'll also compare it with the MKE 200 the Sennheiser MKE 200 again and also the rode videomic go to as well all right I've switched onto the couch Capital so there's no gaps or anything like that where the microphone is showing and I even moved the shock mount back as well just to make sure so this is the audio that you're hearing from the rode videomicro 2 and the wind coming the wind is from that direction so it's hitting me so I'm just going to turn around and spin around so that you can hear the wind titting the side of the microphone and then hitting the front of the microphone as I turn around this way as well and just to give you an idea of what the audio sounds like whilst I move around so yeah Road video micro two and I'll switch over to the rode videomic go to okay so this audio is now from the rode videomic go to and same wind conditions again I'm literally just talking so that you can hear what the audio sounds like and the wind is coming from that direction again so it's hitting me I'll just turn around so that you can hear what it sounds like coming from the side and then also turn around so that you can hear it from just moving around you can hear what the audio sounds like and then I'm going to switch over to the Sennheiser MKE 200 so that you can hear what that sounds like as well okay so now this audio is coming from the Sennheiser MKE 200 it's got its um dead cat on its very windshield as well so again just letting you hear what it sounds like with the wind coming from the front and then well from behind the mic right in front of me and then moving around to the side so the winter inside of the capsule and just moving around again so that you can hear what it sounds like just talking just so that you can hear and yeah so that's the Sennheiser MKE 200. okay so I just got back inside listen to the audio and I don't think I got it wrong the first time in putting the dead cat on I still think I got the dead cat on the right way or had it on as far back as it could go the first time around so in the first video because in this video even though the audio sounded better I was definitely facing a different position in the wind but you could still get that you still heard that popping sound that the video micro 2 was still producing in the wind and especially when I turned to the side it was even more apparent and in the first video the wind was hitting the side of the microphone when I was doing the video so this is why I wanted to like spin around and just hear what the audio sound did with the wind taking the microphone from different directions so yeah listening back to that I think that it still sounded the same as in the first video and the video mic go-to sounded better even though the capsules are the same and it uses the same furry windshield but the video might go to did sound better and the Sennheiser MKE 200 sounded even better it just handles the wind a lot better than the other two mics so and also the Sennheiser MKE 400 that's a decent microphone that was so good while I was listening back to the audio considering how windy it was and you just the wind just doesn't interfere with the audio at all it sounds so clear so but anyway that aside the video micro 2 I think you just really have to be mindful of how you're standing when it's windy and just not letting the wind hit the side of the microphone if you can help it because yeah even if you push it on all the way to the back so that it is covering all those holes you're still getting that popping sound depending on how windy it is because when the wind was dying down it didn't sound like that at all it actually sounded really good so I think it really just depends on how windy it is where the wind is hitting the microphone and um yeah pretty much so anyway I hope that was useful and if you want to hear how it sounds indoors I did a test in the previous video so do check that out I'll put a link in the description and at the end of this video so yeah check that out but yeah anyway I hope this video was useful and thanks for watching catch you in the next one foreign [Music] [Applause] [Music]
