Warnings before $10 million yacht sank

tonight Cairo 7:00 is asking if warning signs were ignored before a 10 million dollar yacht capsized in Anacortes six people were rescued as the Baden rolled over that vessel hadn't even begun its maiden voyage Congress Evans Henry Rostov is live in Anacortes Henry first let me show you this 90-foot yacht that salvage experts now have upright so investigators can start digging into what happened but we now know at least one man involved in building the yacht fought this launched could be very dangerous Sunday night this home video captured part of the frantic effort to save five workers trapped inside a brand-new 10 million dollar yacht the vessel rolled over while they were launching it for the first time right here but we found out there were warning signs this type of thing could happen months before it did we tracked down Erin puffle the man behind the warnings we spoke with him on the phone you didn't want to see anyone in that boat when it launched puffle says he supervised the yachts construction until December of 2013 he says he raised concerns about the way the builders intended to launch it he also noticed some possible balance issues when the boat was moved during construction puffle wrote in his blog I can say without ego or hubris that I feel if I had been still involved with this project in a leadership capacity this launch accident would never have happened we went to the yacht builder new world looking for answers but no one came to the door it seemed unusual to me we did find Brian McCulloch who helped rescue the trapped workers Sunday night but before the rescue McCulloch had concerns about how the boat was being launched using two small dollies for support we obtained this picture of one of the dollies used in the process crushed under the weight of the yacht well again I've never seen a boat launched this large this way the salvage effort is being paid for by the boat builder we have a call in to investigators to find out if they're looking into what happened leading up to the launch and if warning signs were missed when we have some answers to our questions we'll pass them along to you live in Anacortes Henry Ross off Cairo 7 Eyewitness News we have some
