That last story about Takei was hilarious! I never heard that until now. I knew there was originally a scene in TVH where he met his great great grandfather as a child, I never heard it didn't get shot because the kid was a pain on set (or as Koenig makes it clearer a pain in the ass lol) and it was too late to film it by the time he agreed. That must've sucked and I imagine any notions that kid's family had of a Hollywood career was torpedoed from that day on.
Koenig is pretty honest here and not TOO hard on Shatner. I also didn't realize Takei had an issue with him coming on the show and essentially replacing him when he wasn't there. I mean what did Takei expect though? If you're shooting another show they need SOMEBODY to stand in for you and say the lines. Maybe he just wanted a background player and not a supporting cast member there but hey at least they didn't replace him permanently.
Anyway, great vid!
Great vid. The Nimoy ones from the Archive of American Television are also outstanding, as are Levar Burton's.
Interesting stuff. Love hearing about them reminisce. Always get the feeling that the TOS crew were more 60s professionals than the band of joking friends that the TNG crew became.
I loved it when he accidentally referred to Shatner as Jim.
