Hi everyone, welcome to this video  where i'm going to show you how to use   the Wagner control pro 150 airless sprayer. I'm  also going to tell you what I like about it and   what I don't like about it and a couple of handy  hints for using it to make it a little bit easier.  I've had this unit for about 18 months  now. I've painted three bedrooms with it,   I've done a fence and I've painted  the whole outside of my house.  Overall I love it, it does have a few  limitations though especially when you use it   inside and it's definitely much easier to use  and in a large open space, especially outside. Just painting the outside of the house made it  worth the purchase price alone, it was absolutely   fantastic, it took me probably four, about four  half day sessions to paint a 200 plus square   meter house so that was absolutely amazing and  it saved thousands for a professional to do it. Inside I found it really useful  to use as well especially on   ceilings it is quite a bit more difficult  to use in a confined space as you get a lot   of atomized paint floating around quite quickly  and when you don't have very good ventilation   because you've got your windows  and doors and things masked up it's   quite difficult when the room gets filled  with a cloud of atomized paint. And it's also   quite easy to trip over it when it's in the middle  of the room and you're and you're looking at a   ceiling and trying to focus on what you're doing  so handy hint is to either put it in another room   next door or outside the door or in a corner and  and work your way through the room away from it. So the actual unit itself has the hopper we've  got the lid with the spray tip stored on top   and space for another one here if you buy a  second one or you've got a different size. Inside we have the hose, you can see  the hose is not that easy to clean. It is seven and a half meters long so  there's plenty of length on it if you want to   put the sprayer away from you. We've got the gun head and the nozzle tip and all the pieces of the gun   which I'll put together in a minute  and show you how they go together. But first we're going to get this room ready  for painting. I'm going to paint all of the   walls and the ceiling apart from this one by  the window because that is going to be tiled,   so no need to spray that although you might see me  spray a few pieces on it just testing the gun or   clearing the nozzle things like that. So I've got some stuff here ready to mask up the  room so i'll do that and then I will assemble the   sprayer and run you through the setup and do  a bit of a demonstration on this whole room. All right guys we're all  masked up and ready to go.  I haven't done a very good job on that  window there just because I'm not actually   going to be painting very close to  it so it doesn't matter that much. I've just covered these power points and the  plumbing points purely because I don't want   dust blowing out of them when I spray close to  them, not really because I care about them getting   paint on them. I've just sealed up the door as  well as you can see I've done that a lot tidier   so that no paint gets on the door frame which I've  actually already painted but it's also going to   get really hot in here soon because everything's  sealed up so let's have a look at the sprayer now. I've also got a stirrer, spatula,  two buckets of clean water,   the paint which is Dulux one step prep and  now we're ready to put the sprayer together  I've plugged it all in, I've kept it in  that place right there because there's a   drain hole underneath and I don't want to step  in it so if that's there I won't be able to. I've run the power in from outside  hopefully I don't trip over that   and there's another drain hole over here which  I've already stepped into so hopefully I don't   do that again when i'm looking up and now let's  put the sprayer together and see how it goes. Alright so the gun's attached, the hose is  attached, as you can see that hose is quite   difficult to wrestle with so I kind of wish they  had made a more flexible hose but never mind.  The hopper is clean so first thing  to do is chuck in some clean water.   I'm gonna try and do this with  one hand and we'll make sure that   everything's clear the hose is clear and the  gun's working, so just a little bit like that. Then we'll switch this to prime which is that  one there and we'll turn it on and it's going   to pump some water out through here also give this  button here a push just to make sure it's clear. So everything's working on that  side and now we're going to see   we're going to clear out the gun and  the hose and make sure that's all good   so we'll switch it over to spray and we'll point  this one at the, actually what I should have done   is I should do this with the nozzle  off so we'll just take that off Just because if there's anything  in the hose we want it to come out   and not get stuck in the back of the nozzle  before we start painting so we'll try that now. So that's all nice and clear, i'm  just going to turn it off because   there's no water in it so it's going  to keep trying to pump stuff through. I'm just going to put this back  together and get the nozzle back on. All right everything's back together and  we're just going to do a quick spray to test,   I better going to turn it on first. Alright everything's back together this time  properly, the nozzle wasn't on properly so that's   why there's water spraying out so we'll turn it  on and we'll give it a quick spray to make sure. This is good, there's water spraying everywhere  so that's good just going to turn it off. So now we just need to tip this water back out. and obviously the hose is still full of  water but I'm going to leave that in there. I'm going to put some paint in the hopper  and push it through with the paint instead So I'm just going to get that  ready and I'll show you in a sec Alright the hopper is full, I don't think I'll  use that much paint but it needs quite a bit in   in there to actually be able to push it out of  the nozzle so we can always pour it out later The first thing to do, I'm actually  going to water this down a little bit   but I'll use the water that's in the motor  as well as a little bit out of the bucket. I'm going to pour that in there now and then  we'll do the prime function again and you'll see   the paint cycles through the hose there. Alright it's mostly mixed in it would have been a   bit easier to do with two  hands but that's all good. I'll get this out and we're pretty much ready  to paint we just need to chuck the lid on Switch this over to spray and then we're going  to clear out that excess water out of this nozzle   so I'm going to turn that on and do that we're going to spray this directly into  this bucket which is now the waste bucket So I'm just going to dunk it straight in the water   and spray and hopefully it  doesn't make too much mess Still more in there So you see when that water went cloudy  the paint started coming through So I'm just going to do a little bit  more because it'll be milky water still   and then we'll give it a quick test on  the wall that I'm not going to be painting Alight let's see if it's ready to go That looks good. The only thing I forgot to mention before is  another limitation of this when trying to do   quite fine work that you need a good finish for  is this gun tends to, the paint tends to pool   on the nozzle there and as soon as you pull  the trigger you get the splatter like this. I actually swapped this unit for  another one to see if it would be   better, I took it back and returned it  but this one does the same thing as well   so you just have to carry a rag with you and  give that nozzle a wipe every now and then. Most of those actually dry quite  nicely and you won't see it but   like those ones won't but mostly it's  okay but if you keep the rag with you   it tends to keep the nozzle a  bit cleaner and it won't spit So now I'm going to put the respirator on   I am going to get covered in paint  and I won't be wearing a face mask   or something over my eyes because I find that  once I do the paint starts falling down from   where it doesn't attach to the ceiling and  covers the glasses anyway so you can't see. So I'm going to set the camera up now and paint  this room in one hit. apologies if you can't see   it all it's kind of hard to get a camera angle  in this small room without missing some of it so   i'm not going to be able to stop and adjust the  camera once I start it's just too hard but once   i'm finished I'll show you the cleanup process  as well and what the finished product looks like Alright guys the room is done just opened that  window to get some air in here because it's full   of atomized paint and I'm struggling to see where  any other patches that I've missed but I think the   overall coat is pretty good. It's just a primer after all this side  here's a little bit average just because   that's where the shower's going so  you won't be able to see it anyway. But this wall is pretty good, ceiling is pretty  good I think, there's a couple of little patches   in the plaster that I didn't  do perfectly there's a   tiny little hole down there so we'll have  to fix that up before we do top coats but right now we need to clean this up  so that the paint doesn't dry on it. Best thing to do I find is to either wrap  this, the nozzle and gun up in glad wrap   or plastic or something like that if  you want to do a second coat later on I don't so I just dump it straight in the water  here for now and I'm going to go outside for   a couple of minutes to wait for this paint to  clear and then we'll come back in and clean up Alright guys the dust has cleared a little bit  so first of all we need to clear out the hopper Pour the excess paint back into here  although I think it was pretty much empty Alright that is much easier with the brush   but now we're gonna pour some  cold water, clean water into here and give it a good clean You can see how fast the paint dries on it so  it's kind of important to not leave it too long Okay now we need to clean the  rest of the paint out of the hose   so to do that we're going to use the  water in there to push it through Have to get our paint tin back I'm going to take the nozzle off If I can get it off And we're going to squirt the rest of that  clean paint back through into here and as   soon as we see water come through then we're  going to stop and we'll spray that elsewhere So that's water coming through  there, there's still quite a   bit of paint in it but it's very watery  so we're just going to stop that there Rid of that one Now we're just going to filter some  more of this water through to get any   a bit more of the paint out Alright now it's just  sucking through that stuff so   that's a waste of time so we'll just pour that out and get as much of this paint out as possible You can also take this filter out now because  that actually holds a whole lot of paint in there   chuck that in our bucket too Actually I'll take those out for a sec I'm just going to pour this one  out so we've got some more space Now I can put some clean  water straight into our hopper and get the rest of this paint out Alright now we've got some cleaner water  in here we can run it through the hose Into the right bucket this time So it's running a bit clearer through there,   this stuff's a little bit dirty so I'm  going to pour it out and do it again. Basically just keep doing it until the water that   comes out of here is as clean  as the water that's in there So that's that's almost clear  I'll finish that off in a sec. Also just take the gun off, take all  those pieces out, take the filter out,   make sure you clean all that because otherwise  it will be useless next time and yeah that's it. So as you can see the paint sprayer  itself works really well and I can   paint an entire room including  the ceiling in about 10 minutes There are limitations though as you  saw, like you have to mask everything There's a lot of atomized paint in the air so  it's hard to see and you also have the slight bit   of paint splatter so that can affect if you're  trying to do a top coat or something like that It's not an issue outside at all if you're doing  a fence or exterior of a house you never notice it and you can also see the cleanup process is a  bit tricky and takes a little bit of time so   it's really hard to justify using this sprayer for  a small job so it might even be worth getting one   of the smaller Wagner hand sprayers as well  just to supplement this one for small jobs But overall I love the sprayer it was worth  every penny especially like I said just for   doing the exterior of the house it saved me  thousands of dollars and didn't take that long   so I definitely recommend it for anyone looking  to do a bit of their own painting at home.
