in vs code terminal when you type git and you get this error git is not recognized as an internal or external command operable program or batch file in most cases the solution is very simple go to the start button start typing environment variables and press the open button or press enter on this window click on the environment variables button go to the lower box find path and click edit now here click on the new button and type the installation path for your git for me it's C program files slash get yours could be different and another thing slash CMD so it's important to add CMD folder and another path variable is C program files slash git slash bin now just click on the OK button three times in a row to confirm changes restart your vs code go to terminal and type git dash dash version press enter and as you can see git is not recognized as an internal or external program error has been fixed
