Hi everyone. Andy Davis here again from
Master of Voice, a channel with reactions to performers from across the world. In
this episode, for the first time, I'm going to be featuring the American rock
band Disturbed as they perform "The Sound of Silence" on the Conan show back in
2016. Let's jump right in. I love this
rich baritone he's giving us. Wow! I knew this was going to be great. I
have heard their version of this song, the recorded version, but I believe this
specific performance on Conan is one of the most reacted to performances of
anyone on YouTube and I have not featured this on my channel yet and I've
never seen it. So, I'm excited to give this first-time reaction of this
performance of this wonderful cover of Simon & Garfunkel's "The Sound of Silence".
He is doing so well. So well-supported. A baritone quality here, just so easily
sung for him. Beautiful. The lyrics
of this song are beautiful. I just love his baritone tone quality
and I'm repeating myself but it is that good, you guys. So well supported on the
breath and he's really emoting these lyrics in such a beautiful setting,
beautiful instrumentation of this. Excellent performance, already. Into his upper chest voice here. His vowels are migrating forward. I love the increased instrumentation
here. We've had the strings join in. He is in his upper chest voice and, as I tried
to mention there and flubbed my words a bit, the vowel migrated forward just a
bit, now that he's in his upper chest voice quality, but he's controlling it so
well and I know a few of their hits and I can tell that he is really wanting to
be reserved with his voice here. Fully-supported, beautiful sound but he is so
well-controlled right now. Not quite going to that rock edge he would give
some other songs because he knows the the beautiful nature that he wants to
put forth in this particular part of the song. So giving us some well-controlled
vowel sounds up there. Just so well done. A bit more of a rock edge there. Beautiful orchestra. Yes! He's really letting that rock
edginess, raspiness, almost a growl come into his voice here and I am loving it.
He has built into this song so well and is just really now giving us full
emotions with his full-on rock sound. I love it. Wow! Wow! Oh my gosh, you guys. I knew this was
going to be great just from so many of you requesting it. I realize it's all
over the internet and I hadn't been able to react to it. So, I wanted to be able to
react to it for you guys and also so I could see it and hear it and I am truly
impressed. That last held note he gave us there, so well-connected to the breath,
nicely supported and controlled and, like I just said, the way he set this song
up - really building into it. Each verse and chorus was a little different - a
little louder, different instrumentation, different voice quality, and focus
where he wanted to place his vowels and what type of sounds and colors or
timbres, if you will, that he wanted to give us. That was a master class on how
to sing this song in so many different ways in one excellently produced and
performed performance. That was so impressive, you guys. Wow! I believe
they're the first heavy metal band I've featured on this channel. Of course, in
more of an orchestral performance here, a bit of a different setting for them but
he has stellar vocals. There is no denying that. They are a superstar group
and I can't wait to feature some of their different songs on the channel. I
hope you all enjoyed this reaction. If you did, please click like and hit
subscribe, leave me a comment down below, and have also left a link to my Ko-fi
account if you were able to support me there or want to come join us there. We
have some exclusive content there with more to come and we're also going to be
using that site to choose future songs that I feature here on the channel. I
hope you all just have a great day.
