leav every sphere can be fun to play with especially if it's non production environment in this video I'll show you how to build your awesome VMware home lab step by step with vmware vsphere 6.7 if you don't know me i'm bebe I'm an IT engineer and welcome to my channel if you have not subscribed to my channel please click the subscribe and a transplant I can so that you could get notified for all of my future videos beside this vmware vsphere lab setup i also plan on creating videos about how to set up domain controller Active Directory SCCM MDT and much more so don't forget to subscribe to get started with vmware vsphere you're going to need to ISOs that you could download directly from VMware website for free you will need to sign up for a free account with with the website the ISOs that you will need is VMware VCS a all 6.7 dot 0 - x + v AV r vm visor installer 6.7 dot 0 update x the link to download both of the ISO is in the description of this video and at the bottom of this screen as for hardware requirement I'll be using Dell PowerEdge r7 1-0 with two processors and 96 giggle gb ram with almost a one terabyte of hard space you really don't need the amount of RAM in this piece that I'm using but I plan on extending this lab you just wanted to prepare ahead for minimum hardware requirements for VM vSphere ESX our lab you could find the link in the description please make a note Dell PowerEdge are seven one zero might not be supported with future version of VMware vSphere let's get to the computer screen to build this fear lab I went ahead and downloaded a both of the Isis from VMware website one is VMware VCS a and the other one is VMware VM visor VCS a is the price that would apply in the second phase of creation of this lab VM visor is basically this is the one where you have a ESX I and in order for you to install it on any machine you need a bootable Drive I have already prepared the bootable Drive if you don't know how to create a bootable do I bootable Drive I have a detailed video or that you could click the link up up here that would show you how to create a bootable twice make sure to you follow along with there are different processes that I have shown in that video you want to follow Rufus method as for the disk configuration I have two physical drives if that is Fault into my machine one I'm gonna use just purely for the storage which is the just a group one but majority of my lab is going to be around the disk rub zero I have part created for virtual drives on this disk disk zero I wanna I have dedicated a 16 gigabyte his face I'll be using this one to install the air ESXi on it this - as a dedicated about 90 gig I will air install the VCA appliance on it disk - I have dedicated 300 gigabytes of space i will be using i will be stalling servers related stuff on it like if i want to create a domain controller active directory as the CM server basically anything serve all related would go on disc two and for this three I would be installing any kind of works illustration related stuff Oh like we understand a Windows 7 or Windows 7 32 bit any kind of work station related stuff I'll be installing a on disc three so I'm gonna get out of the Disk Utility and put into the thumb drive that has ESXi already is a bootable thumb drive and let's get started so I'm at a BIOS boot manager I'm gonna go and select my thumb drive the first one is the one that I am going to install plus slap and press enter on it the installation started it will take probably a couple of minutes so I'm just gonna pause it until the next screen select enter you might wanna read through the EULA and press f11 system is going to scan your device it can take few seconds so here I am prompted with all of the storage disks that are available to me and as I mentioned earlier for ESXi I'm going to be installing it on the disk that has a space allocated as 16 gigabyte so I'm just gonna select that and press Enter um you could select a choice of keyboard layout I'm gonna go with us default this is the root password you want to remember this password because you are going to need this one every time whenever you need to do any kind of a major updates or any anything admin related so I'm getting this it's not actually an error it is a warning which I kind of already mentioned that earlier in this video too that this version of hardware that I am using probably would not be supported in the future so you could just simply continue through if you are using the same server press f11 to install just elation for ESXi 6 dot 7.0 has started I'm gonna pause the video to save some time so installation completed a successfully remove your thumb drive or if there you had any kind of other CD in your cd-rom and press ENTER to reboot I'm just gonna pass again you so the system has put it into V and B or ESXi 6 dot 7.0 as you could see on the screen I have Dell PowerEdge our seven one zero I have two processors on it 96 GB of memory so for this lab for post I'm not going to go deep into configuration the system configuration I'm just going to change a couple of things our wall first I'm gonna change the IP address right now is set up to DHCP automatic I'm gonna give it a static IP and then I'm also going to disable the ipv6 so I'm just gonna leave ipv4 read-only I'm not gonna touch any other configurations they are for later on I'm gonna create a detailed video later down the road but I want to keep it as simple as possible so that anybody who is just starting out they could they could really work on this one so press f2 to go into the configuration it's gonna ask you for the username which is the root and at the password the one that we selected when we were installing the the ESXi okay what your and just just I'm just gonna go and I will just change this portion only configure press enter network it up to veal and ipv4 so I'm just gonna select that and press enter I'll just go and change it from dynamic to static and then I will give it one line I will change it to 200 and I will just leave everything default for whatever these are my router settings for now and then I am going to also disabled you all right so system has rebooted successfully and now you could see the IP address is static and it has changed to one I do one six eight one dot two hundred so let's try to look we're not going to use this console anymore we can access this machine now using the web browser I'm just gonna use Google Chrome I'll just try to go browse to 200 yeah I don't have the sort is installed right now so that's why you are gonna get this prompt don't worry about it just simply go to advanced and proceed username is root password is your awesome password there you go we have a log in to ESXi is successfully the system will prompt you if you want to sign up for CIP program but I am NOT going to do it I'm just gonna uncheck it then I'm gonna click OK so once you are logged in into the ESXi console you have the navigation bar on the left hand side and kind of workspace + info or column on the right hand side so oh and you could select several options or the navigation bar and then it displays all of the sub options the ones that are under that menu so there is nothing more into details that I'm gonna go here because I want to stay as basic as possible since it's going to be the lab for the individuals that are just starting out so please bear with me and I'm not gonna go into too much of the details just a very high overview you have could shut down the ESXi host here you could reboot you could refresh the console under the action tabs you could create new vamps you get kind of a shut down and reboot here - this also shows you the services this is where you could also enter into the maintenance mode what basically does that it makes sure that all of your virtual machines that are running it puts them into a good standing a good mood so that you don't lose any kind of work that was being done on those virtual machines you could also lock down certain things here this is under the permissions where you could add more users and you could also give those users the kind of right to the ESXi so so just play around and and try to get yourself familiar with with with the console in this next step what I'm going to do is I'm going to create the data stores the ones that we would use to to place our virtual machines on so to do that just simply click on the storage click on new data store the first one that I will create is going to be for the VCA that's the applied that's gonna host the vCenter and vSphere so I'm just gonna click on next click on the create new data store next and as I had mentioned in the video earlier that for VC a applies um I have created a virtual disk with the space of MIT GB that's the one that I'm going to select and you could name anything I'm just going to name it as me CSA that's next I want the full this to be utilized so this is going to partition the disk and prepare that is basically next click finish and it will give you the warning that anything any kind of data that is all that this would be erased so make sure that you don't have any kind of important info stored all the drives that you are preparing for a data store so make sure click Next and under recent tasks it basically gives you the status of what is happening so we just started new so you can see as it has a task the target the rich user initiated it whatever the time it was killed and how long it takes to get started and when it's the what is the result and when did it got completed so you could see as it was completed and we have one data store that is created for VCS a so I'm just gonna go ahead and I'm gonna create the remaining two one for workstations and one for the servers as I had mentioned earlier in this video it's new and I had a set up one for workstation with the 300 gig so just name this one source next so what to go finish yes and it had started you could see it right here is currently running it queued at this time started at this exact time it completed and the time it got completed so I have a second data store for server setup you could put everything in one data store too if you want to I just like to keep things separate just in case if I need to move certain things it makes things much easier and it also kind of looks cleaner so the last one I'm gonna do is going to be for the workstations I plan on putting all of my workstation on one of this virtual disk the station's next next and finish so I have three data stores created successfully now I will deploy a me CSA appliance to this data store so in order for me to do that as I had mentioned in the video that I had downloaded evcs a so to deploy it just simply mount the ISO go into this subfolder VC as a UI installer go further deeper into win32 and look for file name installer dot exe double click can execute it so you you have a different options here install upgrade migrate and restore install obviously when you are trying to install vCenter server appliance as the new install upgrade is to upgrade T if you already have something and you have a new version that you are trying to do to deploy a micro 8 is if you want to migrate to a different server every store is the one that you had already a saved like as as a microwave and then you are trying to restore it to the new machine so in this case I'm gonna click on install this is going to be a to process step so oh and in what stage is going to deploy it and then in the next stage is going to give us the options to configure it so stage 1 click Next Rita EULA and accept it next for that purpose I'm just gonna select embedded platforms or services controller the 4 choice click Next this is where you are going to enter the information for the ESXi host since this is a brand new lab I do not have fqdn setup so for any kind of items related to the hostname I'm just gonna go use the IPS draw address so in this case it's gonna be 1 2 1 6 8 or 200 the user ID is root and the are some password click Next yes yes all right so it here is going to ask you what do you want to name your vCenter server appliance I'm just gonna leave it as a default and the password would be for the admin password that you are going to set up for vCenter server appliance this password is different than the password for ESX iOS so just just do you just want to differentiate them next and this option is correctly tries to set up the amount of deployment of the VMS that you plan on doing you could start all the way they from 10 all the way to 35,000 machines so I'm just gonna go with a a tiny deployment you could do multiple I mean any any other ones - depending on the hardware that you have but for this lab purpose I'm just gonna go leave everything default and just simply click Next so this is where it's going to ask you which data stored that you want to use so in previous step or I have created the data store which is TV CSA and then you want to click enable 10 desks this team provision just does not allocate the whole space so it's just good to use this click Next so this is where it's gonna ask you for the info that you would be using for your appliance the one for the P Center so as I mentioned I don't have any DHCP a domain controller or anything set up so I will continue to use the IP address and this IP address is going to be different than the IP address for ESXi so I would go with 192 168 1 201 as a Tod N and same thing goes with 1 6 8 1 dot 201 for the IP address subnet mask into is for me it is 255 255 0 1 and if you want to get this info you could simply go to CMD opening of the command prompt and go to IP config look for the IP and in my case it's IP 4 hopefully you have the same one too so you could get this information right I'm connected into my router through the Wi-Fi and all of this IP address for this machine is here subnet mask is this and the default gateway is this so I'm just gonna use two five five two five five dot dot one I'm sorry dot zero and this one is going to one my two one six eight 1.1 I'm not gonna worry about DNS error I do actually have a DNS setup in my router so I could potentially use one but I do want six eight or if you do run into any kind of problems you could always leave the question in the comment section and our part about you as much as possible and as soon as possible to thank you okay click Next oh it just wants to verify make sure that go over all of them for that to provide it if for any reason that any of the info is incorrect the system will get you to restart from the beginning again so make sure all of the info here is correct it should take few minutes I'm gonna pause for a few just so you know that it if you are stuck at 80% it takes it does take some some time so don't think that this is stuck or is not doing anything you just take take few minutes so just be patient so the first stage for deploying the vCenter personalized is completed successfully it took me about 6 minute or so for it to complete so depending on the speed of your hardware in your network it might take longer or might take shorter for you I'm just going to click continue for stage 2 next so here I usually like to enable the SSH to because I want to be able to get a control you could do this one even later on do if you want everything else I'm gonna leave it default for this lab purpose so this is a single sign own domain I'm just gonna use the fictional one since I don't have a domain set up I will show you guys how to set up domain in the future videos so you could just come back and check it joining the vegan beer customer experience Improvement Program I'm gonna uncheck it next I can't go through this information again because if you finish it and if there is any information that is not correct it will restart you and it will basically ask you to start from step one of the deployment of vCenter server appliance let finish yeah it's warming you it what I just said earlier I'm just gonna pause it all right hey so second stage is completed - it took me about nine minutes and few seconds to get this to complete so it might take a little bit up and down depending on your speed for you to complete this I'm gonna create close now I'll just go you could take a look at here or let's log into the ESXi console and as you could see I have VMware vCenter server appliance here and if I click on it I could get some more information on this but looking at the IP address all of the other information that goes with this machine so I'm just gonna try to log into that machine quickly it will prompt you who for ssl don't click advanced and proceed and this is real the good part about virgin 6.7 years I think it's it was initially introduced in 6.5 where you could have this fear client as HTML 5 so you don't have to actually install the client on your machine anymore so I'm just gonna click on launch vSphere client and for user ID the default one is administrator add whatever the demand that we had set in the single sign-on portion of the setup previously so I had set up Phoebe dot local and the awesome password initially when you try to login it does take some time for it to set up and login so just be patient with that so there you have it we have only one machine here so you could kind of browse around here I'm not gonna go into 2d details in this video because the video has already gotten very long I would be putting some more videos this is this concludes the setup of VMware ESXi vSphere lab in the future videos I'll show you how to install Windows Server 2012 and 16 hour to setup the domain controller and much more so if you have not subscribed to my channel please go ahead and subscribe now thank you so much and you have a wonderful rest of the day or night where you are peace
