in this quick video guide i want to show you how you can export from blender and import into unreal engine real quick easy and free because you don't need to buy anything so first of all you need to have blender and a real engine installed of course in your computer and you may also want to open them up so you can set everything and of course you need to have a scene ready to be exported so you can find that perhaps in sketch fob or you have your own this one here is from the blender video course that you will find in the channel and also check the unreal engine video course in the channel as well so all you need is to then set up data submit now data smith is a really uh interesting well i i can say amazing exporter because it's gonna like not only export something but it's gonna organize it for you so it's kind of a management tool as well and you can use that as made for many software like sketchup or 3ds max or revit and we are going to make an example in blender but it's pretty much the same thing and also sketchup you will find a video guide and in the course you will find the sketchup and you will find courses in the channel also in the other software right here so uh then what you need you need the exporter the datasmith exporter that you need to install in blender so if you look for blender that is made on google or other search engines you will find it here on github so you click on this link you're gonna go here and here you can just let me show you go all the way down the page you can also access the code and go to see what it will be [Music] in terms of files but if you want to scroll down find this link here in the installation section click on this link and you will find it into your download folder in your computer so you can see it right here now to install this in blender it's really easy if you know our add-ons work in blender so i'm gonna go first of all to change the language here go to preferences change the [Music] language of the interface so that you can understand better so right here you go to add-ons in the preference of blender and click on install select the zip file that you downloaded from github and then click on install add-on and this will install the add-on now if it's already installed you can look for it just by typing data and there it is so you have your data smith import export add-on or plug-in you can call it however you want you can also click here and activate it if it's not activated and then it will be ready to run so to make it run again it's really simple go to file export and then go all the way down here into data smith and you select the folder choose a file and click on export well actually this will not be there because this this is the one that i already exported so just pick a folder and click on export data submit and you will find a file like this with the format you data submit once you did that you can go down into a real engine so i'm going to expand a real engine now so we can see it better and this is the scene that it's already there it's already [Music] inside so i will delete all the content that i have inserted so we can do it again together so it's this one here because this is the lesson 26 of the blender video calls so i'm going to delete this and when you delete the folder automatically it's going to delete everything that's going to be inside the unreal engine map or level which is using those assets and there you go now this should disappear and also in the viewport there everything should be gone so we can reimport that back on let's wait just there you go now it's deleting and there you go everything just disappear and this is another scene from sketchup and also some models from twin motion but we're gonna also add this from blender so what we do in a real engine to import blender with datasmith is we're gonna go up here click on these ads or quickly add actors and go directly to data submit so we're gonna import file import click there select the the file that you have saved and all you need to do now is to create a folder which i have already created it's called data smith and then i will place there my new folder which is going to be called lesson 26 and i need to decide here if i want to import geometry materials and textures lights cameras animations and also in the advanced tab i can set up the lightmaps resolution so this is going to generate automatically light maps for you now these are really handy with some render engines but with the new lumen render engine i don't think these are necessary but you can still export them just to be sure so you can perhaps increase the quality of these light maps or not so it's your choice let's import and now all we need to do is wait for the entire scene to be calculated and let's say translated by data smith in order to work correctly in blender and we're talking about mainly the lighting which is gonna be lumen lightning and if we want we can also then set up some extra stuff like collisions there you go now it's inside it imported geometries and you can see also in the content drawer here how everything is well organized and you can manage now everything perfectly because you have geometries in one folder so everything has been like decomposed or um exploded into single assets that you can work one by one or together so this is the entire scene actually and it it's also there is also some other stuff here but we don't need that which is like architecture tests but there you go this is our scene right here when you see that checkerboard it's going to calculate the material so we just have to wait and you can see also here some issues with the mapping that we need to fix in unreal and sorry blender in that case so make sure that your scene works in the software that you're coming from like blender in this case now here also in the outliner everything's going to be perfectly arranged and organized so in this case the folder here or the group it it's going to be less than 26 so all this stuff i think it's from other there you go this is the one and i can already see and i think i have two of these because i have imported this two times so you shouldn't have two of those just one and here you will find everything you can see every single mesh divided and cameras static meshes you can also see it here you can see the lights used in blender all the different assets so everything should work fine but if it doesn't you need to fix here and there something in a real engine and if i select everything i can also bring this a little bit higher so we can see the pavement of the scene there you go and i think there is some issue here with attackster so i need to recreate that material but everything else looks fine something may seem like the overall look of the scene is fine and that's it so it's really simple and you you can find cameras you can find lights you can find everything that you had in blender in here here in a real engine so it's really wonderful it's really amazing so what else should we do we can start to bring in the materials also that we imported and we also have textures if you want to try to rebuild let's say for example those chairs there just click on the texture and apply it to that object and that's gonna create for you the material there you go right away automatically it's gonna be in here so you can then click and drag it and place it into another material sorry into another object or you can place it in another folder you can reorganize so everything that doesn't work you can fix it pretty quick just by clicking and dragging the texture on the object is going to create the material for you and what else if we go in the geometries we can find here for example this asset so this is the single asset so you can see how i can work now only with this one and if i want to create collisions i can do it because right now there are no collisions so i can create collisions there and well other things that you can do in a real engine but if you want to see those you can check the aerial engine video course in the channel so this will be all for this video guide i hope you enjoyed if you want to support us you can do it by joining the channel that's going to give us just a little support but it's going to be important and also you can support us just by subscribing if you want and leave comments questions suggestions anything that can be helpful so this will be all thanks for watching and see you in the next video guide
