(upbeat music) - [Mom] You're gonna have to go through, a series of challenges and tasks, in order to get these lockboxes open, and find a surprise in the
big third Valentine's day box. (cheering) (upbeat music) (loud chattering) - [Mom] Friend's hip? - Yeah, friends hip. - Hello there everyone. We are getting ready to end
our day of homeschooling, with a Valentine's day
themed escape room challenge. And it's going to have a
fun educational twist to it. Addy and Maya have discovered, we have three mystery lockboxes here. What is your say Addy? - Valentine's box two. - [Mom] What does your say Maya? - Valentine's day box one. - [Mom] And then over here, we have Valentine's day box three. They're busy fumbling
with the locks over here, and trying to find the correct
combination to open them, but it's not going to be that easy. They're going to have
to go through a series, of challenges and tasks in
order to get these lockboxes, open and find a surprise, in the big third Valentine's day box. Time to put those down girls. So I can give you your first clue. You ready for it? - [Both Girls] Yes. - [Mom] Okay. Come over here. Up, up, up, up, up. Clue number one, you have
an activity to solve. - Okay. The girls are gonna have to work together, to solve a Valentine's
day matchup activity. And upon completion of the activity, they're going to present it to me. If they filled it out correctly, I'm going to give them a puzzle wheel, which will help them unlock
the very first lockbox. (bouncy music) - [Addy] Match the
phrases of the clue sheet, to the candy conversation hearts. Record the letters in each grid below. Be careful there are decoys. The shaded area will spell your word clue. - Decoy, that's not good. - [Addy] You might give
someone a bouquet of these. Flowers. (bouncy music) - If it's not yours, it might... Be mine. Be mine. - This escape room is
a little bit different, from a traditional escape
room where you're actually, trying to escape out of a room. Instead of solving to
escape out of a room, you are trying to solve
clues to unlock these boxes. So a little bit different,
but just as much fun. If not more. They're using a bunch of
clues and solving them, with answers that happen to be
on these conversation hearts. And down the middle will
be a secret keyword, which I will need to give
them their puzzle wheel. - [Both Girls] Sweethearts, sweethearts. Sweethearts is our answer. - [Mom] That's the answer let me see. Sweethearts. You girls got it. The next step is that they
will get a puzzle wheel, with a clue, and this
is going to help them, unlock the first mystery lockbox. Here you go girls. Good luck. - The lock code is an even number, same digit and hundreds in the ones. - [Addy] Okay. So is one five. So in the ones place there is five. - [Maya] But this arrow
has to go in somewhere. Six, eight, five? should I go to see if
it's six, eight, five? - One, nine one. That's it. - Now, if they struggle, I
have the answer keys over here, for all the puzzles, as
well as one clue card, which will help them with each lockbox. - Wait, so what does it
say about the number? it's an uneven or even number? - Even. Six, eight, five. - Six, eight, five, 685 Isn't an even- - Just try it. But. - Don't forget to make
sure that all parts, of the clue are being accounted for, in the number that you're trying. - The lock code is an even number, with the same digit in the
hundreds (indistinct) and ones. - Okay. - [Mom] You girls know your
hundreds and ones places, right? - Yeah. Maybe it can be eight one eight. Oh, we got it. - [Mom] Oh you got it, okay. - [Addy] Congratulations.
You have unlocked box one. Grab the math base for a task. - [Both Girls] For task number two, - [Mom] A map, maze. - We're good at this. We can do math. - What is that? - For the math maze,
they're gonna have to use, their orders of operations
and work their way, through a whole maze of math
problems from start to finish. As they go through the Maze
are going to collect letters, and the letters are
going to spell a keyword, that I will need to give
them their next puzzle wheel. You're starting here and
you've said, the answer is 17. You move this way and
you collect the letter C - [Addy] Oh, okay. - [Mom] So Maya is gonna write
down C as her first letter. - Okay. So that would be 15, - 15.
- H. Write down H. So then Y would equal 98. - I've got the answer key right here. And they're doing pretty well so far. I think they're on the right track. (bouncy music) Parents, if you want to try this, Valentine's day escape room
challenge with your kids, or wanna check out a whole
bunch of other themes for a really fun escape room challenge, with an educational twist. I encourage you to check
out, Teachers are terrific. It's a website, a blog where
I found this exact one, I'm going to put the link down below. And there are just so many fun ideas, for escape room challenges
for STEM activities, that you can do with your kids. You've probably seen,
we have a lot of videos, on Tic Tac Toy and Tic Tac Toy Family, that involve escape room challenges. There's so much fun to do, but
they require a lot of work, on my part to really think
of clues and get good ideas. So it was really nice
that I found this website, which has it all laid out for me. I just had to print it,
set it up and easy peasy. We've got a fun escape room challenge. - 19. - Yes. - [Mom] What's your answer? - [Both Girls] Chocolate! - Do we get to eat a box of chocolate? (laughing) - chocolate was the
keyword I was looking for. So now they're going to get
their second puzzle wheel, to open the second lockbox. - Yes. I love this. - I'll go get the second lockbox. - The lock code is the only number, that is evenly divided, divisible by 5. - Maya if it's evenly divisible by five, it either ends in a five or a zero. - Okay. - [Addy] So one you
need to keep that there, and then see if this is lined up. - [Maya] six, eight, five. - [Addy] So six, eight, five. Yes! - [Mom] Yeah It worked, what does it say? - [Maya] It says, congratulations, you have unlocked box number two. Grab the word search for text searches. I love word searches! - Directions. Find each of the Valentine
words in the puzzle. Highlight the words very carefully but be sure not to overlap
the unused letters. Write the unfinished
letters on the line below. Then unscrambled the
letters to spell a word, and take it to the teacher. Oh my gosh. We are literally
doing this in class. - These escape room
challenges were originally, designed to use in the classroom. They were made by a
teacher for other teachers. But as you can see, they're great, just use at home with your kids, if you want another fun
educational activity to do, just to kind of change up the
day, do something different. She had a whole bunch of
other themes on there. There were things, for like Halloween, Christmas
end of the school year. I mean just tons of them. So I'm really excited now
that we found this one, to go back and check
out some of the others, that we can do on other days. Once the girls have found all
the words in the word search, they're going to be a few
letters that were not used. They need to take those letters, and scramble them to come
up with the mystery word. And if they can present the
mystery word to me correctly, they will get their third puzzle wheel. And if they solve that,
they'll have access, to the surprise inside
the big locked briefcase. - Present. - It worked? What! - They're searching for the last word. It is red and they're
having trouble finding, the short little three letter word. - It was right there
and we dint even see it. - But it was backwards. (laughing) - [Mom] you found it? - Yes.
(giggling) - Dip, so that's one word. - [Both Girls] N-S-I-E (softly talking) - Now they have to put their word, unscrambling skills, to the test. See how long it takes them
to unscramble this word, and give me that mystery word. (upbeat music)
(soft chattering) For this particular escape room challenge, there were actually a
couple different options, for easier versions versus harder options. So it was nice that I
was able to customize it, for a level that was
appropriate for my girls. And working together, I
thought they could probably, handle some of the tougher
versions because they could lean, on each other and help each other out. They're struggling a little bit with it. I'm going to show you where the answer is. I have the answer key right here. So let's see how long
it takes them to get it. (bouncy music) - [Mom] So what do you have so far Maya? - I have nipsir. - [Mom] Nipsir Okay. - You're filming our horrible trying. (laughing) On like how badly we're doing. - [Mom] No!
- We're doing really badly. - [Mom] Oh no you guys are doing great. - Oh, we're doing bad.
(laughing) This is hard.
(laughing) - [Mom] You girls are doing great. Keep it up. You'll get it, you'll get it! Keep in mind this is, a Valentine's day themed
escape room challenge, that's something, you know, Valentinesy. Something kind of good. Something lighthearted, something fun. So think all things nice. (playful upbeat music) Just one word. One word. Different clue. - Does it start with like a W? - [Mom] Is there a W you have in there? - [Addy] There's no W.
(laughing) - Does it start with an S? - [Mom] Nope. No S. Have you given up? Oh, Addy's onto something? - Oh, hang on. No I'm not. - [Mom] What is the word
you were thinking of? - Friends. Coz there's an-
- [Mom] Friend? - F-R-I-E-N-D and an S in here. - Friends forever? Forever friends. - They're on the right track! - [Addy] Write down friends. - There's no R. - Yes there is. - Oh yeah. - So I have H-I-P H-I-P (laughing) Hip, friends, hip. Hip friends? (giggling) - I don't think you guys
realize how close you are. You are so close. H-I-P that's all that's left. - [Mom] And you have friends, right? Yeah. Hip friends, that's it. Hip friends. - [Mom] Baby you are this close, this much more to go to
figuring it out Addy. You're like practically saying the word. - Hip. (laughing) (faintly spelling out words) - [Mom] No! No! No! Oh my goodness girls. (giggling) They're so close. They
don't even realize it. It's one word, you're
so on the right track, you can get this. - Wait so it has the word friends in it. - [Mom] Yes, it does. - Okay. Friends... - What does this H-I-P
have to do with friends? (laughing) - [Mom] Try putting it in there somewhere. - Hip friends. (laughing) - Your friend's hip - [Mom] This is so amusing. They're like so close,
but not quite there. (giggling) So the word begins with an
F. F is the first letter. - Okay. So it's gotta be Friends Hip. (laughing) You know it is. It's friend's hip. - [Mom] Friends hip? - Yes. - [Mom] Is it something that
sounds like friend's hip? - Yes. - [Mom] What? - I don't know. (laughing) - [Mom] Friend's hip,
say that really quickly. - Friend's hip. - [Mom] Say Friend's hip really quickly. - Friend's hip, Friend's
hip, Friend's hip. - I officially think they've lost it. (laughing) - Friends if. - [Mom] No. - Frif. - [Mom] Write the word down. Write Friend's hip down. - Okay. - [Mom] What does Friend's hip look like? - Friendship. - [Mom] Yes. - Friendship. (laughing) - [Mom] You got it. - How did we not get that? - [Mom] Friendship. - Friend's hip. - [Mom] Friend's hip? - Yeah. Friend's hip. - Well they got, friend's hip,
or friendship as we call it. So puzzle number three which will unlock- - Three. - The official, final lockbox. Whoa! The lock code is the number
that is a palindrome, with a three in the tens place. - What does palindrome mean? - They've never heard of palindrome. Luckily I have some
clues that I can share, with them for each lockbox. So gonna give you lockbox three clue now. - A palindrome is a
number that is the same, forward and backwards. Like 343. - With the three in the what place? - Tens place. - Okay. - Palindrome is a number
that reads exactly the same, whether you write it forward or backwards. - Seven, three, seven. (bouncy music) - [Both Girls] Wow! - [Mom] Congratulations.
You have completed, the Valentine's Escape Room. What's inside? - [Both Girls] Ravel Tales. - [Mom] Ravel Tales and chocolate. you're already diving into? - Yeah. (laughing) (bouncy music) - These are so cool. - Well, they did it. They solved Valentine's
Day Escape Room challenge. And they were able to
unlock that final box. Now, if you want to try this at home, you can put whatever you
want inside your final box. Have some fun with it. And don't worry if you
don't have a lockbox if you don't have a lock, the website gives you plenty ideas, for how you can still have
fun with the challenge, but make it more convenient for you. (chattering) - [Mom] Oh, which one did you find? You know its name? - Let's see. I think it's the bubble, bobble? It's a bunny. - [Mom] Oh, how cute! Bubble the bunny. Who did you get? - I got Sea queen. - [Mom] Sea queen, oh!
Sea queen's cute too. - I love Sea queen. - Now the kids tore into these so fast. You didn't get to see that they come, all bundled up in a whole bunch of yarn. And I think there's
actually a whole kit in here where you get to use
yarn and sew something. And I think this yarn is a stuffing, for a cute little pillow
or a little accessory. So there's a lot of fun
activities you can do with this. It's a stuffing for their bed. Is that how it works? - [Both Girls] Yes. - [Mom] So you have a heart
shape that it looks like, so you can just sew
this up with your thread Oh, that's a sparkly heart. - Yes. - [Mom] And then what,
what is yours like Maya? This is cute. It's a fun shape. It even comes with your own sewing needle, so you can, make your
little stuffed animal bed. - And it does have poke you. - [Mom] It doesn't poke
you. Very kid friendly. Good job girls. I am proud of you. You guys did awesome. - Thank you. - Thank you. - I'm always trying to
find more fun things, that we can do together
during our homeschool day even as an afterschool activity, but still has like an
educational twist to it. I love that we got to
review orders of operations, multiplication, division,
addition, subtraction, Hi Sandy. And even palindromes,
which the girls learned, for the first time today. Not only can you make
a Ravel Tale head fed, which they give you directions for. But it shows you how
to make a Ravel Tales, friendship bracelet,
and even a pet collar. So that's pretty cool. We get to learn how to do some sewing and some bracelet making with this. - I can show you-
- [Mom] Open another one. Let's see what we get in your second one. - So it'll look like this, and there's this part that has the needle. - [Mom] Ah, that's how you unravel it? - Yes and then you just go... - [Mom] Let me see, Oh. (bouncy music) Oh... - Looks like a fox. - [Mom] Oh, what a cute little guy. - Oh! He's so cute. They
can be best friends. The Fox's name is twinkler,
so you have twinkler, and bubble Maya. (bouncy music) - [Addy] So now you
just stuff all this in. Yeah let's sew it all up. It's done! - [Mom] So cute. A home for
Sea queen the sea Otter. Thanks so much for watching. We hope you have a
wonderful Valentine's day. And what do we say girls? - [Everyone] XO, XO. - Happy Valentine's day. Happy Valentine's day.
