what's up you too hope you enjoyed the stein double drum lowering device video a lot of fun doing that I was actually hoping to get to do that video with reg codes said venture will have to be another time today we're off to do an interesting job it's not super complex but it takes a little bit of rigging a little bit of thinking and it's just a tree that tipped over across a pond a cottonwood tree and so you know they don't want to get in the pond and and get all wet so will we'll figure out a rigging system to pull it out of upon using whatever we have available winches or the vermeer or whatever might be worth filming so I'll see you over there ah how many times do you do you pre usually about four [Music] [Laughter] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] so later in this day I did crash my drone into the pond it was the first really negative drone crash that I've had totally submerged it and then a few days later I had it all dried out and it still works so I didn't have to buy another one I did lose some footage though and I lost a bunch of footage from this job off of a GoPro camera that had the SD card quit working or something anyway there's usually some kind of camera malfunction on every job I do want to make a video out of this job though with whatever I have left because any time we use blocks or rigging to magnify the strength of whatever we're pulling with I just think it's really cool it's so old world you know you are using such primitive tools to gather such mega strength if you had enough blocks and rigging you could literally move the world or a little child could just pick this tree up right out of the pond so what we have here is a block on the tree in the pond and that block doubles our power because it's anchored to the spar up here nice and high so we have lift and then the block above it is just a redirect and then that goes down to this anchor over here which redirects it so that the vermeer can pull it on a nice clear Avenue of basically flat ground however double power was not enough to get it out of the pond and so we just lifted it a little it wouldn't drag it out of the muck and the mire and so we added another block for quadruple power by anchoring a line to this tree over here passing it through a block on the second redirect anchor and attaching the other end to the Vermeer so quadruple power and we lifted it up easily dragged it out of the pond just drag it up cut it dragged it up cut it and then haul it away it went real quick [Music] so that got me thinking what does the Vermeer actually pull how many pounds of force does it exert if we had times four of it what would the number be and so that led to this test and probably quite a few others in the future okay we're gonna test how hard the Vermeer can pull in pounds yeah so we're gonna guess first so let's see how much we pull ready dad we pull 172 pounds so what's your guess that that pulls I'm gonna guess I always say that this thing is worth 20 guys I'm gonna say it pulls 20 times 170 to know 20 times 170 to think it's that much it'll break traction 20 guys 20 times 100 would be 10 guys on each side what kind of traction would have more than that that guy against ten people I think really oh my goodness maybe no way I'm gonna go let's see what that is real quick twenty times one hundred and seventy two equals three thousand four hundred and forty pounds of pole that's how much something weighs yeah so it's not that I like your guests better at a thousand so I'm gonna say fifteen times 170 oh no wait that was two of us oh yeah so 10 times 172 not 20 times 172 10 times no it's 1720 I'm gonna say 1720 what do you say Chris it's gonna be a lot more than that yeah okay we're gonna find out right now [Music] 27 28 27 28 so we broke traction and got 27 28 so when we were on that job pulling the log we were pulling 27 28 times 4 to get that thing out of the pond huh so 3,000 so yeah we were pull 10,000 pounds 11,000 or something like that 27 28 times 4 do the math that's how much power we had when we pulled the tree out of the pond let's try another thing you back up you back up to max and then curl the boom under and pull hydraulically [Music] he drags the truck we're gonna need a better anchor 3590 so plant that thing and then curl the boom curl the claw towards you and we've gone up a bunch yep went over the chunks so we haven't truly measured it for that yet so to recap we dragged the truck and got to 35 90 so now we have something we can't drag and we're gonna try it again we've also doubled the lines and put this safety on here in case something we're to break so we're going to test the hydraulic power of this thing to plant itself and then curl the boom towards itself [Music] still 3590 [Music] [Music] 3684 so we were almost 3684 okay okay we'll try the d-ring on the front of the Vermeer all right with a nice low pole good I don't need 236 no okay we want to see what it'll register okay not everybody has grapples we are here to help you hold to reset [Music] that's amazing 35:10 so you can get a little bit more with the grapples yeah but that nice low pole okay okay we're gonna test the idle pull versus the full throttle pull so I'll throw this out again 3434 same he idled it up a little bit still 34 it kind of makes sense it pulls slowly up to a near its max or it pulls quickly up to near its max yeah and you can't you can't like you can't like do this running yank thing with this thing that only goes four and a half miles per hour yeah we could test it point it downhill put some weight in its favor yeah the other way but let's let's stop you you've learned you've learned enough YouTube's learned enough okay we're gonna do one more test and that is pavement pavement traction static pull down low on the d-ring we got 36 pounds on it now okay we broke traction any guesses YouTube it was 34 34 before okay 35:18 okay that was full idle full throttle I mean and he bumped a little bit 3572 yeah so pavement dirt flat you're looking at about it basically pulls its weight this thing weighs like 3,600 pounds so good job for a mirror for pulling your weight one more test is how much we get with the hydraulics curling the boom under with the tracks planted because when they're not moving you know maybe they can get a little better traction zeroed out any guesses zeroed out I think it's gonna go about 35 26 and it was 36 10 was before with the knuckle 3684 something like that I must say 3710 pulling more than its weight really more than its way yeah okay I like that guess but I can't make the same guess I'm gonna say I want to say 36 79 alright yeah 3650 okay let's do it we know that we can't pull my truck sideways 3660 you know what I think that might be how much it weighs I remember it being like 3,600 or something with the grapple I don't remember but have to check that that's to check how much it weighs so who won I probably won high 79 he was 50 he was closer he was 10 he were 19 now let's just say I won you
