USA to Japan by Luxury Cruise Ship | Silversea Royal Suite

today I'm taking this luxury cruise ship for 2 weeks from America all the way over to Tokyo I'll show you exactly what it's like to live on board this Ultra Luxury vessel from my huge first class Suite to the fine dining and opulent facilities on our 4,000m journey of course it won't all be plain sailing with gale force storms in the Bearing Sea with that let's pick up our story in Alaska USA yes you do see correctly we're starting on a train as to get to the point Port of seed where our cruise ship departs the Alaska railroad is by far the best way to arrive the journey takes around 4 hours but my word it's worth every [Music] second well hello there and welcome back to the channel where I'm about to get on board this silver whisper that's going to take us all the way over to Japan so without any more to say let's go and get on board the cruise terminal is located a short Taxi ride across town honestly the scenery just keeps getting more spectacular well I can't say the baggage drop off is the most glamorous but this isn't exactly the Port of Miami now to check in this is all processed in one Warehouse which appears to be owned by the Alaska railroad how fitting we're shown over to the silver seat check-in where first we must complete a health declaration I'm surprised to be honest that this is still a requirement as most cruise lines have faced this out forms completed were shown over to the desk where we have to show The Following to complete our check-in formalities with that I'm presented with my room key and ushered over to Security now finally we can get on board what will be our home for the next 2 weeks well here we go then the silver whisper sadly this is the exact moment the heavens open though this is f Alaska where the weather can change multiple times an hour now despite looking quite large from where we are now silver whisper isn't all that big in cruise ship terms standing at 610 ft in length or around two statues of Liberty I think it's time we take a look inside we're welcomed by the crew and beckoned over to the main lobby we're given various timings such as our departure and mustard drill and directed to our suite we're currently here on Deck five midship and our suite is on Deck six towards the bow well in which case we need to jump in the elevator where we're told a team member will be waiting for us upstairs lo and behold one of the friendly silver sea Butlers is here to escort us all the way to our suite 602 it's one of the largest on board to the port side of the vessel so welcome on board but most importantly welcome back to the channel Mom it's me you're back how are you back yeah I'm good actually are you jet lagged like I am very I'm really tired it was quite a long way to get here to be honest with you but we're here and in our wonderful Suite it's really good home for 2 weeks yeah a long time you going to get fed up with me no but you might with me no we'll be all right our Royal Suite is certainly not on the small side at over a, square foot the suite revolves around the main living space and a personal highlight of mine being the in room bar this can be restocked with pretty much anything you want at no extra cost and yes it does include a fridge full of DC moving on to the Sea inome dining area I'm delighted to find a tasty bottle of Rosé champagne has been left for us to enjoy compare that to wonder of the Seas with their bottle of nothing upon arrival there's a four- seat dining table where you can order room service around the clock it will even be set up like a restaurant with table linen and silverware by your butler this reminds me Silver SE take Butlers seriously your butler is not an aftera like many cruise lines reachable with a direct line and pageable at the touch of a button they're on hand to unpack for you dinner reservations manage your laundry replenish your champagne and much more our personal Butler is Jared from India who is absolutely fantastic let's move into the bedroom available in either king or as twins as we have here you do get an interesting vantage point from here too as the bedroom is located right at the front of the ship the onite marble bathroom is of decent size complete with separate lavatory Standalone shower jacuzzi and Bulgari amenities last but not least is the walk-in wardrobe and before anyone asks no we won't be getting our Butler to unpack for us we're all but ready to leave but first must watch the brief safety video on our sweets TV and just like that we're ready to go the atmosphere on board has turned to one of excitement and anticipation we're now Bound for Japan [Music] so where exactly does our journey take us overnight we'll head over to Kodiak Island stopping briefly before continuing on to the uan islands we'll sail so far west that it becomes East passing the international dat line and into the Continental region of Asia before finally arriving into Tokyo [Music] Japan it's our first dinner on board and like with kards Queen Mary 2o there's a dress code no jeans or t-shirts after 600 p.m. not to worry I'm prepared for [Music] once doesn't mom look lovely this evening I truly cherish being able to travel with her on this amazing adventure now we're currently on Deck six but we're both feeling a pre-dinner drink so let's head down to deck five and to to the bar located towards the stern it's Tastefully designed with rich leather and velvet upholstery there's also live music from one of The Talented onboard musicians naturally we'll take a seat by the window though oddly this faces away from it so the cocktail menu is extensive but here are a few of the [Music] highlights I go for a Negroni whilst mom goes for a glass of the pomr champagne oh and just to reference these are all included no drinks package is required for dinner we'll be heading up to deck seven to the lataa restaurant which is the ship's resident Italian joint we're warmly greeted by the staff and shown over to a table by the window let's take a look at the menu then it's extensive and with Italian food being my all-time favorite I'm in heav Heaven helped Along by a Divine bread basket and shuch board to nibble out whil we place our orders it's looking a little rough outside wouldn't you say alas the foreshadowing to begin I opt for the Capra salad with Mom saving her appetite for the main [Music] event the main mum goes for the melan alap Parana whereas I go for the pen Alam Matra [Music] Chana to close we offered dessert and espresso though I'll only partake in something sweet in form of the casata siciliana which although tasty was rather different to what I've had before well welcome back to our suite first night on board done what did you think Mom really good really enjoyed the Italian tonight oh my goodness I absolutely love Italian food I think it's your favorite as well isn't it yeah and the roasted garlic and the roast garlic whoops whoops so I think with that it's probably time to get some rest cuz we've got a very busy next couple of weeks on board haven't we oh we have yeah well I say a lot of busy time to relax lot Laz lots of [Music] laziness well good morning I slept particular well and what I can only describe as the comfiest bed I've ever had at Sea right it's time for the first caffeine hit of the day I really value having a half decent in room espresso machine yes you can get your butler to bring you a fresh cappuccino sometimes it's nice just to do something yourself let's go and enjoy it on our private balcony area for the size of the room it's not the largest which surprises me but more than adequate for the two of us [Music] well a very good morning here from Kodiak Island we've got a couple of hours here just to go and explore before we continue ever westwards so let's head to breakfast before getting off and having a look around our Butler provides us with day bags for our outing this morning complete with mineral water and Evian spray a lovely and thoughtful touch now breakfast options on board silver whisper are plentiful from formal to relax and even in room favoring a new venue we opt for the main restaurant located on Deck four it's a bright Airy space with plenty of seating options from sharing with some new friends or sitting on your own private table let's see what's on the menu then there's a lot to choose from and if I'm honest it's actually quite overwhelming the way it's been laid out that's likely because I'm in need of another coffee so let's sort that out Pronto we offered a selection of freshly made pastries to which I indulge in a maple Peak and danish in contrast mom goes for the healthy option of oats and fresh berries whilst I follow up with the Poached Eggs avocado and sausages all in all a Fab breakfast with that let's head off ship now ordinarily you'd be on your own now unless you paid handsomely for an Excursion with silver SE everything is taken care of orbe it given our location in a quirky manner yep we're going to be taking a school bus a few miles down the road to Fort abber crumby State national Park on Route how about some Kodiak trivia it's the second largest island in the US after Hawaii its main industry is fishing being one of the largest operations in the whole of the US oh and there are over 3,000 brown bears on the island [Music] as I said it's only a brief stop so it's time to hot foot it back on board departure is seamless and made a lot easier and faster given there are only 160 guests on board compare that to The Wonder of the Seas nearly 7,000 our next segment will take us some 700 M further westwards to the uan islands now we're back at Sea let's head to the upper decks and [Music] explore we'll start at deck eight where there's a small prominade ideal for stretching one's legs after a large meal this also leads up to a jogging track on Deck n it is quite Breezy up here but also most refreshing M and I have promised ourselves we'll keep up 10,000 steps daily on this trip so I guess we're going to be doing a lot of laps here you also get a great vantage point of the outside pool and the hot tubs which I'll absolutely be trying out in just a minute there is one Higher deck that we have access to deck 10 which should grant us the best views out over the [Music] bow [Music] you can actually see our bedroom window from here too anyway I make it time for afternoon tea this is served every day from 400 p.m. in the Panorama Lounge on Deck 8 it's a bright and modern space offering live music more free flowing booze and plenty of seating being British of course tea is a ritual for us and what a selection we have I've gone for a personal favorite the Jasmine green tea as my tea bruise what tasty Delights do we have to enjoy a selection of cake finger sandwiches and the best cookies I've ever had at Sea Emma Cruzes would indeed approve it's certainly a civilized traditional Affair but my goodness not something I could do every day imagine this for 14 days and I'm positive many here intend to do just that as the afternoon rolls into evening we begin to hit rougher Seas comparable actually to The gales mom and I hit crossing the Atlantic last year compounded of course by being a much smaller ship and having a suite right at the front so tonight it's formal night and with formal night of course it means I need to be changed into something a little a little bit oh my God and maybe this means of course changing into something a little bit more appropriate and oh my goodness you can tell we are in some quite choppy Seas at the moment so without without any more to say Let's uh try and change into this well there we go much more appropriate for this evening despite the uh the rockiness of the boat we are pretty much ready to go of course I do need to oh my good God I do need to go and get some shoes on of course grab Mom and we'll go out for a lovely evening yet again specialty restaurant [Music] leam leam is a French restaurant with only seven tables so booking is essential you can choose from an alicart menu for $60 or paired wines for $ 160 now for us this will be inclusive as we're staying in the Royal Suite let's take a look at the menu then it's extensive that's for sure I also Imagine you'll be able to read me like a book and know exactly what I'm going to pick now we have a dilemma whil house champagne is inclusive there is a particularly well-priced Crystal with our name on it plus mom has never tried this I think we all know the answer here is it sad I can identify which airline serves this In First Class yes yes it is absolutely the taste you ask well as always I'll read directly from the sellia scroll notes of apricot Hazelnut and fresh pastry mainly though mom loves it which is what matters to start mom goes for the kimoa and corett whilst I opt for you guessed it caviar so with all the trimmings it's quite a change to have caviar outside of a plane seat and it's not something I'd usually have at home it's a true occasion dish in my [Music] opinion prior to the main course we served a pallet cleanser of iced lemon sbet now for the main event and how predictable am I of course I've opted for the steak and mom goes for the mfi both are phenomenal with the steak cooked to Perfection medium rare with the c showing no real signs of improvement it's cheese and dessert time now I'm not the biggest cheese fan but I am a dessert one introducing the pistachio sule served with a dark chocolate sauce mom goes for the chocolate mousse which as a chocaholic I feel I probably should have chosen however both are excellent with dinner out of the way it's time time for the siblings entertainment Down On Deck six is the entrance to the theater or what silvery calls the show Lounge spanning two decks with Stadium style seating boasting a mix of club chairs and sofas with drink tables in between there is shows each night from cab to guest performers such as comedians to provide a diverse repertoire of entertainment whilst at [Music] Sea Tas well there we go another lovely day on board how's your evening been Mom oh it's been really nice yeah been really good I'm very full I've eaten too much drank a nice champagne oh that was good wasn't it was very good and yeah it's been a lovely day it really nice I think the challenge though has been getting used to the rockiness of the sea cuz it's got really quite rough yeah hard to walk you could probably see us like weighing and that's not the champagne no not at all [Music] well welcome to Dutch haror this is one of the most remote parts of the US it's literally at the very far west of Alaska but you'd be led to believe it's much busier than that but the fact that there's so much going on in the port and actually the port itself is one of the busiest in the US because of course of all the fishing it's likely you've already heard of Dutch Harbor because of the popular TV show The Deadliest Catch and yes we're going to be seeing the Northwestern this morning as with Kodiak we're on a silver sea inclusive Excursion which will take us past the sole air strip on the island the surprisingly absolutely massive supermarket and through downtown to have a look at the Church of the Holy Ascension which is a Russian Orthodox Cathedral built in the 1800s Russian you ask or prior to to 1867 this was actually part of Russia in fact did you know the entirety of Alaska was actually Russia until this point but was purchased by the US for $7.2 million next we'll continue out of town for a hike up Bunker Hill where you get a true perspective for how untouched and remote we are it's truly a beautiful and magical [Music] place circling back to the Deadliest Catch we found some of the fleets in the marina let's go take a look this is one of the most dangerous jobs in the world with unfortunately scores perishing each year in the treacherous Seas it's time to get back on board this will be the last time we touch dry land before we arrive into Japan which is a really bizarre concept to me I've never spent so long at Sea before now goodbye on Alaska you've been fascinating to [Music] visit [Music] I make it lunchtime let's try somewhere new we'll be heading up to deck 8 to the grill and Al Fresco sitdown restaurant by the pool open for both lunch and dinner most days it's a lovely place to be when the sun's out not so much in rough Seas but today's conditions seem to have improved significantly let's take a look at the menu then it seems to be Mediterranean focused with a mix of small plates sandwiches and grilled Meats let's kick off with a refreshing DC and indulge in some nachos guac and salsa for main mom opts for the grilled Portell sandwich whereas of course I have to have the sizzling jalapeno steak after lunch we get the rare opportunity to take a look at the bridge this isn't something usually offered but due to the length of this trip the captain has made a special exception for us so we have around 30 minutes here where the captain explains everything to us from the xand radar used to detect and track objects in the surrounding Waters to the stabilizer control which significantly reduces the amount of rooll we experience during rough Seas this must have been working overtime yesterday that's for sure now I think I make K caffeine clock let's head to the observation Lounge on Deck 10 and rectify that it's a lovely space to unwind in with ample comfy chairs help yourself Refreshments which are constantly replenished throughout the day and a wide array of books to lose yourself in I'm actually on the hunt for a book on India as I'm planning a trip there next [Music] year book in hand let's make a fresh espresso [Music] now to sit back relax and learn more about this incredible [Music] country and just like that it's time for more food and tonight we have another opportunity to dress up to think in contrast I spend most of my time on this channel in a NASA hoodie we're heading first to the bar on Deck five where there's live music music and of course plenty of free flowing booze now whilst I love a cocktail I think this evening champagne is very much on the [Music] agenda cheers man [Music] cheers I just want to ask you so far how have you found the cruise it's been really good yeah it's really nice I thought it would feel quite tiring being at sea for ages there was a lot of days but it's been really relaxing actually i' filled my days easily well this is it there is an awful lot to do even despite the fact that it's a small ship there's just uh so much to keep you busy there's been the lectures that you've gone to I've actually got back into a bit of Fitness surprisingly although that's just a mitigate the amount of I tried the gym too you've done well Mom you've done well but I think it's fair to say mom's a fan now let's head to the main restaurant located on Deck four this is where we had breakfast on our first morning it's certainly An Elegant space although it does feel a little d we promptly shown over to a table by the window and presented with a menu of tonight's offering I have to say I'm very impressed and when comparing this to the chargeable L Dam I'd say the offering is just as good here but without the [Music] cost to start M Ops for the vine Tomatoes whilst I go for the [Music] pasta for main mom only has one vegetarian option as we told the Thai Dish has fish paste I of course have to choose the steak with chips cooked medium rare surprise surprise thankfully we both have room for some dessert mom goes for two scoops of ice cream chocolate and vanilla I have the Elba hazelnut cake with prene vanilla ice cream and a caramel sauce with that I think it's time to call it a night see you all in the morning [Music] well good morning from somewhere in the Pacific Ocean in fact it's a special morning as we're about to pass through a very important section of water so you may have guessed by now but of course we're going to be passing the International Date Line ever crossed it before Mom no it's very new it's a strange one I have done it on a flight before but obviously never by sea it essentially means when we cross it we advance by an entire no we lose an entire day you see I'm even confused talking about it weird it's just so weird it just so happens that we're about to cross it do you have a weapon of choice or a drink of choice for the occasion momth I quite pun in espresso Martini I like your thinking SS good let's put the order in I mean this is certainly taking morning caffeine hit to another level but hey Mom's the boss now let's tear ourselves away from the free flowing espresso martinis should we go and try out the pool and hot tub as the weather has improved significantly as I showed you previously the pool deck is a lovely place to be doubling as the grill restaurant but for now the focus is not a culinary [Music] one the hot tubs are kept at a constant 40° so I guess you could enjoy these even in the freezing cold should you breathe the walk there in your [Music] gown whilst I have swam a few times on a cruise ship it's still a rather odd experience it's almost like there's a wave machine in the pool and it does takes some getting used [Music] to feeling surprisingly motivated for more exercise let's head up to deck 10 and work off some of that indulgent food in the gym [Music] the gym is located within the spa facilities and offers a comprehensive selection of free weights and cardio [Music] machines should you desire there's also a sauna and steam room which is thankfully free of charge I make it lunchtime perhaps our favorite option for lunch during this trip is the lataa restaurant but during the day it doubles as a buffet for breakfast and lunch normally I don't really like buffets as they can be really hectic but here it's well organized with low passenger footfall very well staffed and offers an excellent quality of food today for lunch we have the choice of various salads Sushi roast chicken and pasta with dessert options ranging from cheeses to cakes and cookies I opt for the sushi one of my favorites and I guess very much on brand given our destination after lunch we'll head to the library on Deck 8 I promised I'd give Mom a refresher lesson with chess I don't pretend to be any good mind you I just know the [Music] rules next we need to check out the shopping arcade on Deck five it's only small but allows you to shop duty free whilst you're at Sea from Louis Vuitton handbags to fragrances to that Chanel clutch you've always is wanted talking of spending should we discuss the total cost of this trip well it's not exactly cheap for 14 nights in the ryal suite it cost a cool £1 18,450 there's no denying that's a lot of money but should you opt instead for a cheaper room the same trip could be had in one of the deluxe Veranda suites with the same inclusions for £ 7,440 as day turns into dusk it's time for our final dinner on board at the grill on Deck 8 I love how the pool deck is totally transformed at night into this lovely dining venue it also feels like a totally different experience eating lunch here let's pull up a seat and take a look at the [Music] menu with our orders placed I think it's time for some champagne to start we both go for the New York blue cheese salad the main mops for the giant stuffed portabello mushroom whilst I have to go for the hot rock experience I know I know steak again but I can't say I've cooked one on a hot rock [Music] before there's just enough room for the lime and vanilla cheesecake which tastes [Music] Divine good morning just off the Coastline of Japan opting for a more chilled morning we've ordered room service with our Butler to be served in our room the options are similar to that of the main dining room and in terms of Cruise Room Service breakfast fantastic let's get that all important caffeine hit underway before tucking into our food mom has her favorite oats fruit and granola whilst I have the Banana Pancakes delicious it starts to get a lot more congested outside our window and it's not long before we spy land as we enter Tokyo bay it's hard to put into words what it feels like to have crossed all the way from America but it does feel pretty damn [Music] special we'll need to swipe our cards one last time as we officially step foot onto Japanese [Music] soil welcome to Japan yes welcome we have finally arrived after one of the most incredible Journeys I think of Our Lives it's pretty epic wasn't it um how have you found the experience anyway mom I really enjoyed it and I enjoyed the SE days and the food was good the
