UNSEEN DANGER Hiding in Alaska - Stranded & Alone

our Alaska Adventure was supposed to be an amazing experience but it quickly turned into a dangerous incident it's not a good time it's unfortunate and it's just mostly because either one the person's not paying attention to the rubbernecking and the driver just loses control the vehicles hey everyone we're Kyle and Renee today we're going to take you along for the epic journey through the vast Wilderness of Alaska we start our story from last week's video taking place in Valdez Alaska before ending up in our adventure taking a dangerous turn everything's falling apart send help but it does say 30 chance of Frozen mix and we're about to go over like a mountain pass where are we right now it is so windy here it's ridiculous do you enjoy those moments when the Hanks just kind of like say being here you guys like to lay the pressure on with the questions but I like taking the heat rain rain rain today it's cloudy with you guessed it a chance of rain but I feel like we should be having a deeper conversation the summer solstice just took place it's evening time right now can you tell neither can I it's late in the day and like you said you wouldn't know so so I am very confused so how have we been handling the daylight well not great we've been pulling a Hanks more than we'd like to did we prepare ahead of time to get that reflectix you know the aluminum foil light consistency stuff you put in your windows to block all sunlight no [Music] send help the tin foil on this like all the windows like every crack we could think of I never realized how much we missed the evening time when it gets dark and we want to have a movie night and you just want to wind down with the sun it just doesn't happen up here and you're so right Carl we did pull a hank swear we didn't really think it through we understand and we knew that when you go to Alaska you're dealing with daylight but did we really consider what that was gonna do to us yes you guessed it right we are underneath the surface of the sunlight right here point in case there is not enough reflectix and aluminum foil to block out all this sunlight I'm just throwing it out there now one of the quick fixes that the Hanks have been solely relying on is putting down those puppies and they do pretty good at blocking out the light however they don't snug the window as much as I'd like them to which it allows for some seeping of light throughout the camper ever so slightly I don't know about you guys but when it comes to actually sleeping at night I'm very much so a person who needs a lot of Darkness to kind of initiate that sleep get the Melatonin release and it's been okay it's just been an adjustment that's all I'm saying you know talking about melatonin that's a good one to add because um a lot of people don't know what melatonin is and they see that you can take it as a supplement so you're gonna get a little nurse Nae Nae coming out melatonin is natural in your body and it secretes when your body senses Darkness so like it's a natural thing that occurs the Melatonin is not releasing in her body because it never gets dark and that has helped there's some other things that have helped us get through this constant daylight and we'll share that in a second are we trying to scare you off from Alaska no we're trying to be real with you as always but how can we adjust to life without just word vomiting all over you guys do you enjoy those moments when the Hanks just kind of like say it for what it is I'm good and I'm glad because we have plenty more coming for you and there's one more a ton of extra light without having to do any crazy modifications let me just show you how dark it does get in here when we go into like nighttime mode hello can you see me I didn't know you'd see me dancing I bumped the light is mom acting crazy or what the second reason we love to hang out here so much is because we have recently upgraded our sleeping and resting game home sweet home oh it's cool to hang out with everybody in here we're on the wrong side though but that's okay I'll let it slide don't tell people what side of the bed I sleep on are you guys gonna creep on me I want to be frank with y'all and if your name is Frank this is even better we want the best for you I think the biggest concern that we had was figuring out how we're gonna go RV mattress shopping not because of picking the mattress but how are we gonna find a stinking mattress that's gonna fit the RV am I am I right or am I right now see Carl you're right but you're not right let me explain we do have a traditional mattress size but we were picky about the type of mattress and we were also thinking about you guys the people who are out there buying RVs with very bizarre dimensions in the bedroom the just go it's fine [Music] [Music] today we start our four hour drive to Palmer Alaska Nate took it upon herself to book a sweet RV Resort I looked into it a little bit more and there was a golf course right smack next to it so that means I get to go throw my back out some more and continue trying to get better at this golf game trust me when I say this it's a work in progress right now currently it's 51 but it does say 30 chance of Frozen mix and we're about to go over like a mountain pass I wasn't even thinking about that it's a rainy day [Music] listen on a serious note do we need snow tires for this big mountain we're about to go over over and out no that's what she said now we're just gonna go sleigh riding that sounds good let's just hope for the best here we go [Music] well not as bad as I thought it was gonna be actually it's not bad at all Mother Nature you can be tricky am I weird to think that there could have been snow up there in June I don't know and the sun's out so it seems like certain parts of Alaska have their own weather pattern basically even though we lucked out I'm really thankful that you looked ahead of time and checked because I wasn't even thinking about it so if you ever go over any mountain passes I'm sure you guys are three steps ahead of us but just keep that in the back of your mind that the weather patterns can change drastically and they do it very quickly quickly oh hey I just realized that we actually are not having that warning signal happen anymore with the trailer disconnected reconnecting you know the bang bang bang bang bang oh yeah that's solid good ding ding ding it was an easy fix nice all I did is I went to Napa I bought a six dollar tube of Dielectric grease and then I put that on there cleaned it out really good put it on the inner probes of that seven weight pen connection and just kind of shoved it in and out there and made sure it was making a good connection and so far so good I think what caused this was boondocking on the beach at one time for multiple nights I think some of that salt and sand got in there maybe is disrupting that connection [Music] it's Breezy out here oh stretch them legs sit down this was open what up here that was open like I don't know that was open yeah like it was open it was open did you shut it before we took off I don't remember it being open before we left it was open like when I was sweeping off the slides it was yes we drove with that open Max Air I mean how much more max can you get than that air I think that's perfect are you hungry I'm hungry I'm hungry let's make some food where are we right now it is so windy here it's ridiculous come on me to pick the windiest the windiest of them all rest areas I like that you know what this reminds me of with all this one is that one night we stayed in Wyoming and it was so Breezy and wind Gusty Tractor Supply parking lot remember that one you mean where he didn't sleep and we were like like when Gus happened wow that's what we did five second rule [Music] yeah yeah that was the one I'm loving that why is it so satisfying to eat after a long day of driving you know when you get there you're like I'm not hungry pull over you're like I'm starving but then you start eating and you're like wow food is delicious I hope I never have to go without it I hope you survived this one storm I'll get back to you on that we have a pull-off coming up up here you might want to take this yeah [Applause] well we are 20 miles from Palmer on the Glen Allen Highway and Keith and Rainey said their TPMS was already gone pulled over to check out see what's going on it's not a good time that doesn't sound good well finally to put this baby to use when did you buy this for me oh man like two years ago Christmas I think yeah finally just now putting the deals is it even charged yeah always charred baby got it let's check the proper PSI on this bad boy kill two birds with one stone here while he's dealing with that other Tire I'm Gonna Fill Up This one real quick get the buy air out see why it's so important to have this on-demand air whenever you need it this via air has pulled us out of so many situations so I'm really glad to have it what are we doing what PSI does he have to have it at this is an 80 80 psi normal ones are 110 but with it being a spare tire it's probably a smaller ply or something less fly on it is that what you're supposed to do follow what's on the tire that's what I do it's underneath uh by 15 pounds right now PSI so I gotta fill it up 15 psi on the side of the highway how much should we use this by air a lot yeah we use it every single day several times a week I would say and then dedicating like a good TPMS system like what they have what we have Keith could have done a lot more damage to his rig had he not had the TPMS okay [Music] wait long enough for the service around here we're worked hard today Sam is terrible sorry sir please leave a comment below if you okay they have it we just didn't put it out we're out here just risking it on the side of the road wow okay if you were driving Solitude with the white truck 20 miles outside of Palmer and you honked at us what's up what's up can I show you what we did with the spare wait [Laughter] someone else had an issue here oh no this is they call this spare spare tire Highway they do you had me I had you in the first half wait what is this what what is this don't look at that don't look at that all right good as new that's what you say she ain't going nowhere give it a little tap with your foot is this for cool noodle turn signal so you don't hit your head hook it up here and yeah your head off yeah yeah so a couple of things I just want to share when these situations happen to you just pull off the side of the road as much as you can and make sure you're not hopping on the roadside more than you have to unfortunately so many people get whacked and killed it happens more than you can imagine it's unfortunate and it's just mostly because either one the person's not paying attention to the rubbernecking and the driver just loses control the vehicle so and I'm at the scare you but just to bring awareness uh take your time but get it done quickly get back on the road where it's safer let's continue these travels and see what else Alaska holds for us all righty well it's you be skilled in what we just did yes which has changed time after not this red one there's a vehicle behind this red one but you have something coming that way one more and then we're pulling out on traffic here is uh rough one thing I did want to know is a bottle jack we don't have a bottle jack well I guess we do for the truck here like I noticed that Keith has a bottle jack that he carries around he doesn't use the auto level system completely he gets the weight off the axles and then uses a bottle jack to completely jack up the axle well he probably was in our situation where he didn't have one but then had so many Tire issues where he's like I better have this better about being able to use Old Milwaukee though you know oh not the beer I'm at the tool the impact oh well I was like wait are we drinking beer what's going on Old Milwaukee all right we are here let's get this done look at your view when you're letting her rip I know this is not where you do it but you're letting her rip and then you're like come on you know I love letting her rip in beautiful places that's what life is all about nice fine babe let's get unhooked do you think we'll hit that electrical box you're standing right next to we'll be good I love that dude I actually think we should pull through or back up a little more so you've roamed the park D I don't know about you guys but I feel like we get ourselves into situations like this all the time where it's a pull through we always end up pulling forward more or backing up more we can just never get it right on the first shot it's a certain skill that you must acquire over Decades of rving and we're just not quite there yet why don't you get unhooked the far away then okay okay honey did you pack water for the road extra extra layers surprised she didn't
